Cover Girl: Angela Lindvall for Vogue Mexico

Posted on February 24, 2012

Just a little reminder for the Project Runway All-Stars fans of what Schmeidi does for a living.

Project Runway All Stars host/judge Angela Lindvall cover the March 2012 issue of Vogue Mexico photographed by Jean-Francois Campos and styled by Sarah Gore Reeves in Chanel.

Chanel Spring 2012 Collection

We give her grief for not being the most polished or charismatic host in the world, but there’s no doubt the gal’s a model. She looks gorgeous. She’s certainly making that Chanel work.

Why did they stretch out her neck though? Watching her on PR doesn’t give me the impression that her frame is so… reminiscent of Gumby.

Anyway, the Chanel is remarkable with her coloring.

      • AthenaJ

Agreed, it looks like they really stretched her neck out… either that or did some photoshopping around the jawline which resulted in the neck looking longer. Either way, she looks like E.T.!!

      • AuntieAnonny

She’s leaning forward and looking up.

        • AthenaJ

True, but I’m pretty sure there’s more going on than just the angle of her head.

          • j_anson

Yup, I had the same reaction. Something just hits the eye wrong about her neck and (to my eye) her right shoulder. I was just coming down to see if the rest of the comments section agreed!

      • miwome

Honestly, every time my dad and I watch the show, we end up yelling, “She’s a giraffe!” “That neck is ridiculous!” “It’s like she’s a shark and you don’t even KNOW how long it really is!” “That’s inhuman!” “Models, wtf.” “SHE IS A GIRAAAAAAFFE.”

Soooo, honestly, she looks exactly like herself here to me? Maybe it’s a little longer than normal, but not as much as you think, IMO.

    • jw_ny

Her elongated neck was the 1st thing I noticed.  Is it real?!

Pretty.  I wouldn’t have recognized her and for some odd reason I cannot ever remember her name.

      • LANDRU3000

I don’t think they say her name.  I didn’t learn it until I saw it in fine print on the closing credits.

    • Ennovi_R

She looks great, although her nostrils freak me out. :/

    • BazoDee

Hello photoshop! The right side of her body as it transitions from waist to hip looks terribly out of whack. As does her neck.

    • JoannaOC

Oh, my daughter’s favorite color combo (not mine), and a cute sillohuete for a teenager. Must work on a knock-off vintage version of this for her!

    • Ginger

I read somewhere (or maybe I heard it?) that somebody is sponsoring a bill that would require publishers to note when a photo has been altered in any way.  I have mixed feelings on it (NOT a nanny state fan, but also not a fan of giving girls an unrealistic image as what they should strive for).

      • serenitynow02

You mean girls should not be striving for giraffe necks?  😉

        • Shannon Stewart

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a giraffe neck!  I have one and I like it 😛

      • Qitkat

It’s more to me that I would be interested in knowing that a photo has NOT been altered. Otherwise we should just all assume (as most probably do now) that alteration has occurred. Passing laws like suggested just gives lawmakers another excuse to avoid the real work.

    • Pupioso

Okay her neck is completely distracting. I like the outfit a lot, but man why did they do that?

    • Debby Lovinger Teicher

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Forget about who photoshopped it….who APPROVED it? Love the outfit, though…

    • serenitynow02

Good heavens, she looks like she’s been stretched on the rack.

Gorgeous, gorgeous jacket that I covet with a great zeal; not so enamored of the loofah underneath.

    • kbshee

The garment is gorgeous on her, but the angle of the photograph makes her beautiful face look a bit Miss Piggyesque.

    • nannypoo

Pretty. I love the outfit on the model, but it’s not quite right for Angela. She seems a little stiff for it. She is sadly lacking in personality and charisma, and she talks so slowly it’s hard to wait for her to finish whatever she has to say, so why do I like her show so much?

    • ChristySchiff

You know, I loved her in the film CQ.  And the film is gorgeous.

    • Claire Haley

I think she’s a pretty good host, and seems to be improving with each episode. But I might be biased because I liked her a lot in the movie CQ (and her smaller part in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang as well).

    • mhlmh

maybe b/c it’s raining and it’s been a long week, but today I’d like it if clothes did the work to make us look good, and not vice versa. . .

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I think she looks weirdly like a giraffe.

    • Jasmine Moten

She looks kind of like David Bowie here.

    • cakesandale

That photo just serves to confirm my impression from PRAS that Angela has little personality.

    • Rroxy

I find her extremely boring on AllStars. And I have to say the show becomes less interesting as time goes by, instead of more so. I dunno, maybe I’m just over the whole thing. Gretchen and Anya took a lot of the stuffing out of me…

    • Jessie Melcher Brown

I must be an old broad.  I keep thinking that top with a normal skirt would make such a cute chanel suit.  Don’t like the big bird skirt at all.  Ce la vie…

    • TheOriginalLulu

I noticed last night that she was wearing burgundy, which is not usually the best color for blonde/blue-eyed women, but she managed to look stunning in it.

    • Judy_J

      I love that turquoise jacket.

    • Qitkat

      Nice clothes.
      Extremely unflattering pose.

    • crash1212

      Doesn’t even look like her.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Girl, that is not your neck.

    • Pants_are_a_must

That Chanel is so ridiculous, but she looks lovely in the photo.

    • sid123

why use real people at all?

    • Elizabeth Davis

Moving past the neck issue, can I just say that I love the way the jacket looks on Angela, but on the runway model, it looks like a high-end painter’s smock. Granted, it would be the most expensive painter’s smock ever made but still…I guess the moral here is that a belt and styling go a long way.

    • granddelusion

I dont think shes so bad on PR. She’s far less irritating than Heidi.

    • Mercy

She looks much more interesting here than she ever does on the show.  Go figure.

    • MilaXX

I may be in the minority but I’m not loving the face she’s giving.  She looks good, and that jacket is really cute, but she looks bored.

    • miagain

      I didn’t recognize her!

    • Shannon Stewart

Wow, I’ve never found her particularly attractive on the show, but in the still shot, she’s stunning.

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

Great cover. Now if only they didn’t make her a judge. oy.

    • spititout

      she looks old…and scary.

    • Ceur

      Dead eyes.

    • butter nut

holy crap i didn’t even recognize her!

    • myblackfriendsays

I didn’t even recognize her. Even when I read the name I was all, “That name sounds familiar, but who is that?” And I’ve watched every episode of PR all stars :/

    • belfebe

She looks great.  And although she’s not Heidi (and no one is), I think that she’s growing into the host role as the season goes along.

      • Lisa

Yeah, you know – she’s getting better with each episode. Plus, someone else pointed out (I think over at TWoP), that she has so much compassion in her voice when she’s eliminating a designer – she really does sound like she feels bad.

        • alyce1213

She has a somewhat flat voice, but overall, I like her quality very much. I think her comments are well thought out — not just one-liners or “clever” sound bites, and her compassion for the designers is evident.

        • belfebe

You are right. And I believe that the compassion and respect that she conveys makes all the difference in the world. She’s getting stronger as time goes by.

    • prettybigkitty

      I covet the model’s shoes.

    • Alex McGeagh

The top looks like a bathrobe that spent too much time in the dryer on high.

And Chanel? God, that’s some tacky ish lately.

    • Julaine Morley

Model, yes. But as a hostess, she’s a dress on a stick.

    • TerryMH

I’m probably in the minority here but I find her lack of polish as a PR host to be refreshing.  I like that she doesn’t look or sound perfect – Her skin looks and moves like actual skin!  That said, in this photo, she looks like an alien to me: eyes, mouth and two holes in her face where her nose should be.

    • Vickiefantastico

That Chanel suit-dress-THING is one of the most heinous looks I’ve ever seen. The fact that it looks better on Angela says a lot about her powers as a model.

    • butterflysunita

Anyone else find it a little disturbing that an icy blue-eyed blonde is on the cover of Vogue Mexico?

      • alyce1213

No, not at all. Mexico, especially Mexico City, is quite multicultural and putting only dark-haired, dark-eyed, honey-skinned models on magazine covers would be, well . . . racist.

    • fauxhawk

Really? She looks as she hosts on PRAS: a little deliberate, a little wonky, but okay.

    • janetjb

She was made to wear that jacket.

    • Phyllis Craine

I’ll listen to her voice over Heidi’s any time

    • Phyllis Craine

I’ll listen to her voice over Heidi’s any time

    • PhillipWilde

I would never have recognized her on this cover.
