Chloe Moretz Wants You to See Her Max Mara Bag

Posted on February 29, 2012

We almost feel sorry for little Chloe.

Chloe Moretz arrives at LAX carrying her Max Mara bag.

Here she is, presumably embarking or disembarking, and looking like an adorable, albeit incredibly well-appointed teenager. Love the cans around your neck, girl! So why do we feel sorry for her? Because the poor dear is clearly obligated to make sure her brand new (and not available yet to peons like you) Max Mara bag is prominently displayed in every picture. We’re getting wrist sprains just looking at her.

Oh, wait. She got a gorgeous, expensive bag for free and all she has to do is hold it up for a couple minutes. We don’t feel sorry for this little minx at ALL.

Cute sweater, though.

I’m sorry, but how many people who can actually afford this status bag are looking to Chloe Moretz as a style icon?

This is the same question I had about recent Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs collaborations. Little girls selling rich women clothing. Just why.

    • Sara__B

Agreed. That bag and that teen do not go together.

    • AuntieAnonny

I can see a kid talking their parents into buy this for them as a book/laptop/portfolio bag. As a purse? God no. But I wouldn’t have minded carrying this around in high school and college.

    • RebeccaKW

I went to high school with kids who had stuff like this.  Brand new car at 16, spring break trip to wherever. They had no jobs, but they had credit cards.  So I can see a junior high or younger high school kid seeing a young star with an expensive bag and talking her mom or dad or grandparents into buying him or her one.

    • prettybigkitty

      Good question!!!

  • DeborahLipp

There is nothing in that bag, lest its look be ruined by, y’know, stuff. That’s why she has the shoulder bag as well.

    • EditKitten

      I like THAT bag better!

      • sleah_in_norcal

i was gonna say the same thing!  i like the slightly aged vintage leather look.  the max mara is a fifty-year-old’s bag.  she looks like she’s holding it for her teacher.

    • patticake1601

Looks like she has her ipad in it, hence the headphones.

  • Is there a tag on the other brown bag hanging off her shoulder?  Love that Chloe bag though…*sigh*

  • Judy_J

“I got a new bag….you wanna see it?”

I like to imagine that just behind the arrivals frame a sales rep was lurking, waiting to hand it to her. “Quick, Chloe! You’ll need this!”, thrusting it into her hands and instructing her to show it to the cameras. Better yet, such a sales rep lurks behind every doorway in that airport, waiting breathlessly to foist another piece of virgin merchandise upon her. “Don’t spray any! It’s far too sophisticated for you!” “Don’t hold it too tightly, wrinkles!” “Watch out for fingerprints!” “Don’t smile too much. Our models never smile.”   By the end of her small, exhausting journey she’s tottering unsteadily towards the limousine, crowded to the eyeballs with fabulous expensive stuff –

And there – because she’s fifteen years old and it’d be funny as hell – she gifts it all to the porter.

  • SapphoPoet

    That bag is wearing her.

  • Peri7473

While she is clearly displaying the bag per her deal, I can’t help but thinking that if I were loaded as she were and walking thru an airport (and I didn’t have “people” and the bag was just a similarly shaped bag) i would actually hold it exactly as she is.  it would be off balance on her wrist and could collide with other people.  And that is neither here nor there, but…

  • sagecreek

Meh. Not such a gorgeous bag.

  • hollyglolightly

There are also pictures of her holding it just that way in the front row at Sportmax in Milan last week.  At least continuity!

  • I’m very confused by the bags in this photo.  The one on her shoulder isn’t big enough to be a full travel bag.  In fact, it’s the same size and therefore purpose as the one in her hand.  So why is she carting two bags that fulfill the same function?  Especially when getting off a plane, which makes me assume that one is functioning as her carry-on and the other is just… I don’t know what it’s doing, but I’m far too busy pondering that to be impressed by the bag.

    • One she is hocking, the other one is the bag she actually loves and uses.

      • Cathy S

She keeps the new bag inside the old bag and only pulls out the new one for the photographers. 🙂

  • If I were given free bags to flaunt I’d run around waving them in the air mocking all the peons.  I have no shame.

    • RebeccaKW

       Or shoes!

  • Cute bag but not with that outfit. The dark brown leather is cute on its own!

  • gdougs

Did anyone else notice the white plastic tag thing still on the brown bag? It’s like someone just threw all this stuff at her and told her to start walking.

    • I assumed that was probably a luggage tag strap.  She pulled off the tag, but couldn’t get the nylock off.

  • clatie

She looks like she’s holding her mom’s purse.  I like her and I like the bag but THEY DO NOT BELONG TOGETHER.  Chloe, be young while you are young!  Some day you’ll look at something cute and frivolous and you will have to pass it by.  Believe me.

    • Or her grandma’s.  She’s 15, how can she look at this beige bag and not think of a church lady?

  • janedonuts

Isn’t she like 15? That girl is way too old for her age.

    • MilaXX

surprisingly this is one time I think she actually looks her age (except for the bag shilling of course.)

  • Sue_Asponte

Too bad she has to carry a briefcase, though. Maybe she’s shilling it so she can give it to her mom. That girl needs something more fun to carry.

  • MilaXX

lol, except for the product placement she looks really cute. BTW said product placement is also very nice.

  • nancymae

the bag looks so out of place in these photos but those beats by dre headphones??? now they are a perfect fit on a teenager with means.

  • It’s big, it’s rectangular, so what? It’s a hugely expensive bag that you could probably find a close match to in any mall On Earth. Yawn.

  • alyce1213

Are you sure this bag was worth a post?  Its own post?

  • dress_up_doll

I’m just not buying it (figuratively or literally). Are we actually supposed to believe a fifteen year old would carry this bag? I’d find it more believable if she were carrying a Harajuku Lovers backpack or something.

  • lrhoff

Man, she’s got a death grip on that bag, too.  Ain’t nobody gonna steal it off her, that’s for sure!

  • DesertDweller79

Ooh!  Does she have Beats by Dre headphones?  A friend of mine has them and he loves them.  The bag looks kind of generic.  But, hey, good for her for scoring a free bag!

  • Pants_are_a_must

That bag doesn’t go with that outfit at all. Next time, try to be a little less obvious when you’re doing accessory promotion.

  • nannypoo

    Cute. Hate the bag.

  • Screw the bag, I want her sweater.

  • Natasha Fairweather

Ooh, those are $500 headphones (in Canada, at least). Want.

  • Addicted2Glamour

And the sad part is I STILL have a gay-boy crush on this girl….

  • snarkykitten

she’s also doing well to advertise those headphones

  • quiltrx

Teenage actresses should not appear to have important documents for you to sign.

  • Call me Bee

OK so it’s really silly for a 15 year old starlet to hawk this bag…but God help me that’s a fabulous bag.  Want.

  • cclaussen3

And of course the Beats headphones. You see them slung around the neck of so many athletes and celebrities as they disembark planes. That’s gotta be another paid placement. We’re supposed to believe they didn’t have time to stow them away before getting off the plane. They always look so awkward and showy. So weird for her to carry both bags, except as the point of the post, it’s a paid placement.

“Here’s this great new Max Mara bag (when all my stuff is actually in the darker bag that over my shoulder)”

  • BrightsideSusan

My girls knew girls in their high school with Coach bags.  I had never even heard of coach until I was an adult.  It is a different world.
