I have no idea where someone would actually wear those, but they’re awesome!

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I’m sure one of the Kardashians will be sure to wear it to the grocery store, just when the paparazzi shows up. ;)

      • Anonymous

Gaga would wear it walking down the street sipping tea.

    • Anonymous

      Forever my favorite designer.

      • Amy Ellinger

        Wholeheartedly seconded!

    • Anonymous

When TLo’s commentary can fit a tweet, you know it’s a breath-taking ad campaign.  This is stunning and striking.

    • Anonymous

I saw that thumbnail and thought YAY, they’re covering Face Off???
      Never mind. Carry on.

      • Kathleen Tripodi

I just discovered Face Off.  Love it!  I also hope they cover it, but I think it’s probably already too late in the season to start.

      • Anonymous

LOL! I’m glad I’m not the only one who watches that show!

      • Anonymous

        Love Face Off.

      • Anonymous

I stumbled across a Face Off marathon of season 1 but can’t ever find the new episodes. When do they air?

        • MilaXX

I think they air on Tuesday’s because I always have to catch the repeats cause Tuesday is a big tv night for me between Southland and Justified.

        • Kathleen Tripodi

The previous week’s episode airs at 7 on Wednesdays and the new one is at 10 the same night.  Season 2 apparently will be on Hulu with a 30-day delay.

      • MilaXX

        I love Face Off.

    • http://twitter.com/Lily1129 Lily

      Absolutely fabulous. I’m almost speechless.

Designers, take note: THIS IS FASHION. Bow down.

    • Anonymous

Let us bow to our Venusian overlords.

      GORJE!

It’s pretty awesome, but it reminds me of Christian Siriano.  Who was first?  The chicken or the egg?

      • http://profiles.google.com/eszubert Elizabeth Szubert

If I remember correctly, Siriano studied under McQueen for a bit.  So I see a bit of him in McQueen’s designs/ads and vice versa.

        • Anonymous

          Ahhh, that would explain it…

      • Jenny Grantz

Siriano worked for McQueen and I don’t think he’s very secretive about drawing a lot of inspiration from him. If there’s similarity between the McQueen line and Siriano’s, it results from the fact that both Sarah Burton and Siriano worked with McQueen and have incorporated his aesthetic into their work (Burton more directly, as it is, after all, her job to produce clothing incorporating that aesthetic).

      • MilaXX

I think it’s because his new collection is also using red.

    • Anonymous

Hmmm, a loofah dress and a Carrie dress. I think a certain lady will love it though.

    • Lattis

Third one – the floating angel – is so strange and lovely it makes me feel like crying. It’s kind of like how I imagine heaven – strange and lovely and not what you expected. My agnostic side is snorting. But, I don’t care.

    • Anonymous

I like the solid colored ones better than the ombred ones.  The latter look (how do I saw this without sounding as crass as Kelly Osbourne?) like bleeding sea anemones.

      • Pennymac

Yes. I thought there was something “off” about that ombred effect. I’m not loving these.

    • Anonymous

I wonder if Kara is looking at the first dress and saying to herself, “So THAT is how I should have done the gelato challenge dress!”  Ruffles right under the boob done acceptably…

    • Anonymous

Luscious. I imagine photos don’t even begin to do these justice. I want to see these up close. And touch them. Can you imagine?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

      Sigh… poetry.

Now we know what heaven looks like…

Won’t Madge be happy to see those gloves.

      • Anonymous

        Won’t she though?

Actually, I saw Dolly Parton wearing fingerless gloves recently also, but hers were flesh toned and you had to look very close to even notice them.  Far classier than Madge’s silly attempt to hide her hands, imo.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WKSM57KFWUGRMKPDUW4SPL3GDM Kathryn

      Please, Gaga, wear these!

    • MilaXX

Gorgeous and I can kinda see Zoe Saldana wearing those last 2 dresses without the cape or head piece.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Nope.  Miss Havisham crossed with Big Bird.

    • Amy Ellinger

      Speechless.

    • Anonymous

      Amazing.

    • Anonymous

      Stunning.

It amazes me how true Sarah Burton is to the McQueen aesthetic.  It’s as though you can really see him in these designs.

    • Anonymous

I appreciate the workmanship that I see in these gowns, but…I don’t get it. I don’t find them at all pretty or awe-inspiring.

But I love the color of the acid tangerine dress in the runway photos.

    • Anonymous

Really cool and ethereal. I love the third shot.

    • Anonymous

      menstrual.

    • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

That 3rd one looks like a saint I would be glad to pray to.

      • Anonymous

I would pay a truly silly amount of money (for my budget) to have faux prayer/mass cards made with that photo on them.

    • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

      Love em.

    • R. L.

      Weirdly pretty.

    • Anonymous

Absolutely stunning. Re recent Valentino collection: this is what we think when we hear couture.

      • Anonymous

Except this is not Haute Couture, Alexander McQueen has never had a Haute Couture collection under his own name. He did design the Haute Couture collection for the house of Givenchy from 1996-2001.

    • Anonymous

      Ethereal….awesome.

    • Anonymous

Sorry, but that gown still looks like a used feminine product to me.

    • Anonymous

The incredible handwork on the head/neck/chestpiece thing.   I just love it.  It’s delicate and unusual.  It’s so refreshing to see something arty and different and gorgeous and and and…

    • butter nut

      i gay gasped.  heaven.

    • Anonymous

      LOvely

    • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea Jody Lee

Sorry, but I laughed on seeing this.  McQueen killed and skinned a Muppet for the first one.  I’ve liked a lot of his other collections, but these just look too heavy, thick and ruffly.

      • Anonymous

he didnt do anything, at least not here, not now. he’s dead.

        • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea a Studio by the Sea

Know that, but how to sex a company whose founder is dead?  I could have used her, or it, or their?  I’ve liked some of his and his successors collections, blah, blah, blah

    • Anonymous

Truly gorgeous… but I want to make that girl a sandwich.

    • Anonymous

Not my cup of tea…looks like a doily mated with a duster.

    • Anonymous

I have to say that I think the stylized photography, while interesting, masks some of the appeal of the garments. Which are lovely as objets d’art.

    • Anonymous

      Great photography work. Fantastic fashion.

    • Sarafina Angstadt-Leto

Is anyone else slightly scared of her neck?

    • Anonymous

world would be a much better place were we all not only allowed but able & even encouraged to dress like this every single day of the year. the second one more than the first one, although, you know & come to think of it, you can wear it if i dont want to wear it. i’m too short for a huge marigold puff of baby chick; then again, it would probably work on someone. of course i love the macramé beaded pastel spider webby business. then again, again, i would.

    • http://www.facebook.com/vsticker Vera E Sticker

I think it’s a little derivative of earlier McQueen, but I guess that’s the point for now, right? It’s still gorgeous stuff.

    • Anonymous

I’m glad there are a couple of other references to bleeding/menstrual, because that’s all I’m getting from the ‘angel’.

      • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea a Studio by the Sea

        urgh, sorry you mentioned that…

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

      wow.  just beautiful!

    • Judy_J

      Takes my breath away.

Black swan. Oh, sorry. Orange swan.
      I’m not feeling it.

I don’t want to look like the Borg Queen during moulting season, but I still wish my name was Zuzana. You could call me Zuzu.
