WERQ: Elizabeth Banks in Emilio Pucci

Posted on January 25, 2012

Did Elizabeth get a new stylist? Because she’s always been a fairly underwhelming presence on the red carpet, but she’s really turning it out lately.

Elizabeth Banks attends the premiere of  ”Man on a Ledge’” in Los Angeles in an Emilio Pucci dress paired with Christian Louboutin sandals.

A gold metallic dress, pair of shoes, and clutch on a pretty blonde isn’t exactly groundbreaking or hard to pull off. Actresses have been wearing similar ensembles (with varying hem lengths) to movie premieres for the last 75 years.  But the dress really does look spectacular on her and the shoes are pretty damn killa. The makeup is pretty and she’s practically glowing with self-confidence. It’s such a great little look, the fact that she’s so matchy doesn’t even bother us that much. It should, but sometimes, a movie star needs to go out looking like a movie star, y’know? You WERQ that Hollywood Blonde shit, girl! You keep this up and you’re going to get a “Most Improved” sticker.

    Shoes and pedicure look incredible!

    • Sobaika Mirza

Pedicure is the first thing I noticed too!

      • Anonymous

Love the pink!  It is adorable!

    • Anonymous

I agree! I don’t normally notice feet on people, but I couldn’t help thinking she has such pretty feet! And bless her for avoiding one of my red carpet peeves: she’s wearing shoes that fit on those pretty feet with that great pedicure. She gets an A+

  • Sam Corbett

Someone please find out who styles her and give Jessica Chastain that person’s number.

    • Anonymous

Maybe she hired the costumer from “Our Idiot Brother.”  She looked amazing in that movie!

  • http://twitter.com/jennawaterford Jennifer Ford

Love her. SO funny, and she’s going to be perfect as Effie Trinket. Per. Fect.

Oh, and she looks great in these pictures. I love those shoes. Would never wear them myself, but they are so awesomely delicate and then – bam! – unexpected spikage!

    • aimee_parrott

Yes!  Her casting as Effie was the bit of news that took me from “Oh, I hope they don’t ruin the book” to “I need to see this movie NOW”

      • MilaXX

From what I’ve seen they’ve done a decent job of casting. My only quibble is as much as I like Woody Harrison as Haymatch, there were parts in the book where I thought Colm Meaney would have been a better choice.

What a great dress. She is werqing it to be sure. The matchiness of it all is okay because of all the texture she has going on in the dress and those absolutely amazing shoes. I was ready to declare her a little washed out, but that was only based on the first picture. In the others, she looks radiant.

  • Lattis

My mom says that she bribed me with a pair of patent leather shoes to get me potty trained – and when I got the shoes I wouldn’t take them off for anything. Don’t know what I’d have to do to earn these shoes, but if I got them I’d NEVER take them off!!
And if anybody crossed me, I’d say “TALK TO THE SHOES, buster!!”

  • http://pleasewelcomeyourjudges.com/ Brian @ PWYJudges

Those shoes are so awesome and badass. Well done, Lizzy.

If I had to quibble, I’d ask for a slightly more pronounced lip colour. Overall she looks spectacular though.

  • http://www.what-the-frock.com Dana WhatTheFrock

She looks amazing. I wouldn’t turn down a bolder lipstick and a slightly different ‘do, but those are mere quibbles.

    • Anonymous

Yes, I thought that the hair could use some zhuzhing as well.

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

    Agreed. Also love her ring.

She’s a smart woman. She’s getting a lot of attention right now and making the most of it. Future starlets, take note!

    WERQ!

  • Anonymous

OK, standing out here all alone in the silence of the vast minority:  I don’t like this look at all.  The dress is too short and too tight (unless you’re Heidi), the hair is messy, and I hate the shoes.  Big protruding spikes and not a chariot wheel in sight.  A shame.

Not a fan of the California girl look, I guess.

    • http://twitter.com/Moondragonic Charlotte

Nah, not the only one. The dress isn’t bad, but it looks tight and stiff. The spikes on the shoes are a bit tacky and is really not helped by the nail polish. The clutch is meh. It’s just a bit boring and I miss any hint of color.

      • Anonymous

Oh, thank God I’m not totally alone!  Let’s be best friends out here in this vast desert!  :)

  • Mariah J

She knows she looks good too! WERQ

  • Anonymous

WOW! Head-to-toe flawless from every angle! Good for her!

  • Terence Ng

“Does she have a new stylist?”

Yes, Cinna, Octavia, Flavius, Vennia, and a muse called Effie Trinket.

    • Anonymous

She doesn’t look NEARLY crazy enough for Effie. (YET.) But I’m sure Octavia, Flavius, and Vennia are just swooning in the wings at their own genius.

      • MilaXX

Have you gone to the Capital Couture tumblr. They have a few pics up with the promise of more to come. Effie in her full body polish is a site to see.

        • Terence Ng

I just heard about it! :D

          • Anonymous

That’s pretty much how I imagined Effie. Color me impressed. Thanks for the link!

        • Anonymous

Hadn’t heard of it, but I am OMG EXCITED to hear about it!

  • Anonymous

I think she looks terrific!  And oh I wish I could still wear heels like those because I think they are fabulous!

  • Anonymous

    Breathtaking. I love Pucci dresses.
It fits her beautifully, sexy but not slutty, hair and makeup are gorgeous, her legs look a mile long. I don’t normally like spikes on shoes or pink toenail polish for that matter, but it’s all WERQing here. Well done, girl.

  • http://twitter.com/phirephoenix Phire

I am most envious of her feet. Is that weird? It’s a little weird, isn’t it.

    • Anonymous

I’m with you, weirdness or not.

    • MilaXX

      That’s a good pedicure.

    • Anonymous

I don’t think it’s weird at all, but then again I spent more time looking at her feet than her dress. She has really gorgeous feet! Not veiny or smooshed or over-articulated like most female celebs’ feet. Really, they’re remarkable.

  • Anonymous

    Shoes are fierce as HALE.

  • Anonymous

    Power WERQ!!
She looks relaxed confident and smashing! That dress is so incredible and fits great. Her makeup and dress are not competing. The shoes are fun and the thinness of the straps make the spikes seem light! Fascinating!

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Perfection. Those shoes look dangerous and insanely uncomfortable, but truly fab nonetheless.

  • Anonymous

Boy, do I want those shoes.  They are fabulous!!!

  • Anonymous

She looks fabulous, but I’m guessing she didn’t sit like a lady and cross her legs at the ankles…

  • Anonymous

She looked pretty hot at The Daily Show last week as well

    • MilaXX

      She’s on Conan tonight.

  • Anonymous

It’s called the “I’m about to get big as all fuck in my new spanking movie franchise YOU BETTER REMEMBER ME” stylist upgrade.

  • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

I like the matchy-matchiness. I’m of the opinion that occasional matching never hurt anyone, and she’s totally using it to her advantage here. She’s making a statement, and it’s loud and clear. She looks fabulous from her blonde head down to her pretty pink toes.

  • Anonymous

    Those shoes are scary.

    • Anonymous

can you imagine trying to cross your legs with those things?

    • MilaXX

spikes seem to be the latest trend in dangerous footwear. I’ve seen the look on pumps, flats and now sandals this week alone.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

      I’m scared… in a good way.

    beautiful smile

Chiming in on the chorus – great dress, great shoes, great look!

Gearing up for The Hunger Games gauntlet.

Not a huge fan of hers, but she’s WERQ-ing indeed!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

Those shoes!! Want want want want want! I agree, she looks like she knows she got it right this time, good for her!

  • Judy_J

I love that dress!  Those sandals….beyond fierce!  And bless her heart, she got a pedicure so her feet wouldn’t ruin the fabulousness of those dainty but fierce shoes.  Well done, Miss Banks…well done.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

Two WERQs in less than a week!  Must be a TLo record!

  • MilaXX

CUTE! I like how girly the look is despite the spikes on the shoes. Love the pink toes.

  • CQAussie

Love the dress, love the hair and her shoes.  Well done all round!  and yes, agree with other Kittens -that pedicure is fab!

    KIm Jong-un must read Vogue.

  • http://twitter.com/anacedillo Ana Cedillo

love the shoes, the rest eh its been done. and props to her for walking in that style of shoe, they are impossible

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

It’s a beautiful dress and the LOVE those shoes with it. I don’t even mind the matchy-ness but OMG how long did they have to search to find a dress the exact color of her skin and hair?  Can’t get past it, I tried.

    NO WERQ.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

    Hellz yeah. WERQ.

  • Joyce VG

    va va va voom!

  • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

I saw this ensemble earlier today and couldn’t help myself from giving her mental snaps and a werq it, girl! So glad you guys agree….by the way, have you seen the Hunger Games fashion blog they have going on? She wasn’t my first choice for Effie but damn does she look fabulous.

  • Jill Roberts

    LOVE.  She’s Deco-Princess Barbie…with a brain!

  • R. L.

    Oooo, I love the shoes!

  • Anonymous

I’m actually genuinely jealous of a celebrity now. Great. My life has become completely pointless. This look is going straight to #1 for 2012 and, quite frankly, I think it will be hard to beat. There, I said it.

  • Anonymous

Killah shoes. Literally! She looks amazing.

    • Anonymous

      And Road Warrior shoes.

  • Anonymous

Best she has ever looked–finally.  The pink toes totally make it … gold and pink.  Fun and girly.  You can tell she feels great in this too.

  • Anonymous

Not wild about the dress (love the gold on her, it’s just this dress doesn’t work for me) and she needed to go with that fierce, pin-straight hair she had the other day to live up to those shoes. I also think the makeup is a bit too beach babe for a look that’s kind of Egyptian/disco/Xanadu. But the dress fits her perfectly, the shoes are fab, and I’ll have her legs to go, please.

  • Anonymous

You boys sure are in a good mood today. Killa shoes!

  • Anonymous

    She is killing it!

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

    Fierce.

  • Anonymous

DAMN.  those LEGS!  she must have make up on them, no??

  • Anonymous

The looking-over-the-shoulder pose can look really wrong, and there’s a prime example in the second to last pic. Pretend the open back is actually her chest – I can’t unsee it.

  • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

    Amazing. She looks wonderful.

  • Renee Thomas

Wow, she looks so tall and leggy!

  • Geno Boggiatto

    WOW!!!!! Looking goooooooooood!!!!

  • Jenna Kuhmann

Those shoes are to die for!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=751285857 Sally Brownson

You know why the matching isn’t bothersome? Because both the dress and the shoes are interesting enough in design that they don’t look “dyed to match.” Also, the golds match exactly instead of competing.

  • fallen_ikon

I would do terrible things for those shoes.

  • Anonymous

The hair is the big change.  I think someone finally pulled her aside and told her, look…you need to fix that business going up top.  The dresses are better, certainly, but the big change is the hair.

  • Anonymous

    LOVE it!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Perfect, right down to the bright pink toenails.

  • Anonymous

Love the dress.  I do not like the shoes up close, but they look great with the dress.  I can’t think of another clutch that would have worked better.  With all that going on the clutch needs to blend in.

  • http://twitter.com/tigill Tina Gill

thanks for using my photos!  T.

  • Anonymous

I have trouble telling her apart from about three other women and this generic dress ain’t helping.

  • Anonymous

Those are horrid shoes. The Marquis de Sandal. And with super girly Pepto pink pedi? Please.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25500124 Eric Jacobs

Especially in the first picture, but a little bit in each of them, I think that the dress is a little bit to close to her skin tone.  This throws off the proportion for me, along with the fact that it makes her boobs looks depressed when they so obviously aren’t.  The shoes are great, maybe would’ve looked even better with a white or green dress.

  • http://twitter.com/RzYoung RzYoung

I love it, I want it. It’s perfect

  • Anonymous

I liked the shoes until I saw the spikes sticking out of them.

The dress is fab ~ she looks great!  It’s a good color on her.

  • Anonymous

Such a pretty girl in a pretty dress. Wish she’d go back to brown hair, though. Remember how gorgeous she was in “Seabiscuit”? Blond isn’t always better (said the blonde).

  • butter nut

far & away, the best she has ever looked!

  • Anonymous

I’m a vblond tha loves to rock a sparkly gold look.  However, this dress just seems a little, I don’t know, short all around on her.  The waistline is high, the skirt is a bit short.  Almost seems like it needs a couple inches added to the middle & it would be perfect.  That said, she looks fab & I LOVE the color od her toes!

  • Anonymous

Those shoes are pretty but a bit alarming.  They look like something the White Witch of Narnia would slip into.

  • Anonymous

    LOVE this look!

  • Anonymous

    Love the pink pedicure.
