Miu Miu Spring 2012 Accessories

Posted on January 03, 2012

Darlings, we were going to play Pretend Stylist with these accessories but the aesthetic of Miu Miu is just a bit too much for most starlets to pull off, so we can’t actually see too many of them being so risky as to sport a lot of these pieces. We’ll tell you what: half the Country Music Awards red carpet should by all rights be fighting over those floral boots, but alas, we fear even our country sisters don’t have the ovaries to risk it. We think those white boots with the red roses should be hand delivered to Dolly Parton by Miuccia Prada personally, but the world rarely conforms to our expectations, so we’re not holding our breath on that one.

So if we can’t imagine many celebrities taking a chance on these looks, we turn the question out to you, our Bitter Kittens: Which of these items would you snatch up if you got half the chance? Don’t be shy. Go a little bold. Who cares if you don’t have anywhere to wear white booties with gold roses on them?

UGLY!  Who would wear or carry any of this stuff.

    • Jessica Rowe

ME. Fourth bag from the bottom.  And I’d rock it.

      • Anonymous

I’ll meet you for drinks.  I’ll be rocking the first pair of boots and the 5th bag from the bottom.

        • Anonymous

No way, those boots are mine!

          • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

            They’re my boots, dammit! (Uh-oh. Three-way fight!)

          • Anonymous

You may share the first pair of boots among you and leave the grey boots to me.

  • Anonymous

    Yes, yes, and yes.

  • Anonymous

Nicki Minaj for all of them.

    • Anonymous

      Thought of her immediately.

    • Anonymous

Miley Cyrus for some of the uglier boots, I think.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jmarrazzo Joe Marrazzo

    Vagina purse!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • http://profiles.google.com/laura.jane.ogorman Laura O’Gorman

      That’s EXACTLY what I thought!!

      • fallen_ikon

Me too! I saw it and thought “wow, who would carry something that looks like it has a bunch of vaginas on it??”

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=689960034 Marcella Cypher

I thought the saaaame thing about the purses with the little roses on them.  Maybe I just have a dirty mind, but those roses do NOT look right.

    • Anonymous

Totally agree. Those roses are awfully Georgia O’Keefe.

    • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

OMG I thought the same thing!

    • Anonymous

I’m glad this was confirmed by others. I thought the same thing, but as a gay man, I thought it might have just been a general lack of knowledge sending my mind in the wrong direction.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=27432316 Ally Monge

Too funny. I immediately thought… well that is a little erotic handbag now isn’t it.

  • Sam Corbett

Some of those flowers on the purses look a little Georgia O’Keefe, if you catch my drift…

    • Anonymous

      Thank you :P Now I can’t un-see it.

      • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

Me too. And I was totally liking  them, until…

    • MilaXX

darnit! I didn’t see va-ja-jays until you mentioned it and now it’s all I can see. Still like the like non vag bags except for the pink satin and pink velvet.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

Really? I thought they looked a bit more  Seymour  Stoma to me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

I LOVE! If I had all the money in the world, and no responsibilities, I would buy everything and wear them around the house or out to 7-11 to grab some smokes.
I really do love the purses, too precious!

  • Anonymous

Not a fan of the boots, but LOVE most of the bags — except #s 11 and 13, which look like they have little vulvas on them.

  • http://twitter.com/rgmx Mercy

The way those roses are done incites my trypophobia, so none of those… several of the pink and patterned handbags could hit the town with me in SF.  I’d take the velvet pink fifth from the bottom with my LBD/sheath, wide black belt with pink and red flower pattern, and my red suede platforms on a night of gallery openings.

  • MilaXX

I’d wear the white/gold or the greys boots. The bags are a bit easier, given the right outfit I’d carry any of them except that second bag.
I can see a lot of R & B or hip hop stars wearing these boot. MJB springs to mind.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I could see someone rocking the black or grey boots with a pair of skinny jeans or slim trousers (and a slightly more subdued top, please), but otherwise, i give the collection a big fat ‘ol NO.

  • http://www.facebook.com/chloe.stabler Chloe Stabler

I grew up in north Texas in an equestrian community, and I can see almost every woman I grew up around wanting these haha.

    • Anonymous

I grew up in Oklahoma.  I know what you mean!  Do you miss the big nasty storms?  Because I sure do.  It’s one of my small regrets moving to the West.

      • http://www.facebook.com/chloe.stabler Chloe Stabler

Yeah I do!  I live in Colorado now, and I miss the rain so much.  It never rains here, only snow, and snow sucks.

  • foodycat

None of these would suit me. I’d like to see some of the velvet purses on the red carpet this year as a change from evening clutches.

    • Anonymous

I was just dazzled by a vision of Helen Mirren in the gray, yellow and white midcalf boots.

  • Anonymous

I would totally wear the pink boots or the black ones with white flowers. And rock the SHIT out of them.

  • Judy_J

I’d take all the boots, except for the ones that appear to have an open toe.  The handbags are pretty, but I tend toward the practical side with regard to that particular accessory, so I’d pass on those (except for the yellow/black/red–it’s too good to pass up.)

    • Anonymous

I agree.  That first pair of boots?  To die.  And while I am definitely more of a large purse girl, I can think of a few occasions that I could get away with a couple of these tiny bags.

      • Judy_J

And I like the fact that the heels don’t put these in the stilts category.  These are some awesome boots!

  • Anonymous

The first boots remind me of those print rain boots you see young women and girls wearing.

If I were young and filthy rich, I’d wear the white boots with red roses without a second thought.  The tall ones, not the short toeless ones.  Toeless boots: one of my most profound fashion hates.

    • Anonymous

I don’t think they are toeless, those short boots. I think the toes are white and don’t show up against the background. The third colorway, the dark ones, show the nice pointy toe.

      • Anonymous

Oh, for pete’s sake!  Rrroza, thank you!  I adjusted the angle on my monitor and suddenly–boot toes!  I have to say that whoever decided to photograph a white boot against a white background really needs to go back to photo school.

  • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

That first pair of boots is the definition of awesome. I snatch them up so fast you wouldn’t even see me move. I also really like the last bag, but everything pales in comparison to the boots.

  • Sara__B

The silhouettes are quite Victorian, and I like them — except for the open-toed boots (isn’t that an oxymoron?). I’m sure at least a few celebrities will like them, too.

    • http://onebluetree.blogspot.com/ Sara L.

Exactly what I thought! Like Mary Poppins should be wearing them. And I mean that in a good way. Love the grey ones with the white roses. And I want several of the bags, the purple velvet one, the one with the butterflies, and a couple of others. Nice stuff.

      • Sara__B

Yes! Mary Poppins would loved these boots and bags, and worn them on one of her magical adventures, only to stoutly deny it ever after.

  • Anonymous

    Pass.

  • Anonymous

I love the grey velvet and snakeskin bag. It would be good paired with a suit for photocall.

  • Anonymous

I so want those pink elephant boots!!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/sephski Jennifer Szczublewski

OMG! I NEEEEEED those booties with the red roses on them. NEED THEM!

  • Anonymous

All of the short boots, on the condition that the toe would be covered, plus the 4th bag from the bottom.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

Boots are fug. Some of the bags are passable.

  • Anonymous

Purse #5, FTW. I like the purse at the bottom too, but mostly because it reminds me of the containers chinese food comes in.

  • Anonymous

black boots w/ white roses on them & a pink velvet purse.
some of it might make it to ebay before i die, in fact probably will, then again i am not thinking about forever in this sentence.

  • Lattis

Stevie Nicks for the black boots.

These boots and bags make me smile. For me that is a plus in fashion.

Oh, except for the bags with the smocked satin YIKES. I have a phobia of smocked satin that is even worse than my phobia of holes . . . like the Surinam toad’s back which I will spare you a link to since that’s where my damn phobia came from.

  • bloodshothalfblind

love! LOVE!!!  those country music queens need to work the shit out of these!

  • http://angryfemur.tumblr.com Andrea Lane

I want all of them. Especially the sixth bag from the bottom and the last pair of boots.

  • Call me Bee

Well–I can see Dolly in any of those boots.  I would not wear them, but the bags are really fun and I’d carry any one of them!

  • Anonymous

Some of the shoes look like they come from old Russian fairy tale movies, we always watched as kids. So, while I love florals, I would not wear any of them.

  • Anonymous

I would totally wear the black/gray boots (if they came large enough to fit muscular calves) and the gray/yellow low boots.  I’d also use the bag right under the black one, and the one 3rd from bottom.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

The boots look like something I would have drawn (much more crudely) when I was 6.  The purses are very nice though.

  • http://twitter.com/rmcgrudiva RL McGruder

I like the sixth and seventh bags from the bottom.  Since I live in Austin, I’ve seen enough of the rockabilly/cosmic cowgirl style, so I’m over it.  I could work those black/grey boots, though…

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.merchant1 Jennifer Merchant

LOVE the bags (that don’t have vaggie flowers on them) HATE the boots.

  • Anonymous

I want these in my closet, especially the gray boots and the black ones, and the little blue bag. Playful and fun.

  • Anonymous

Ew.  None of them.   Only there was a my little pony costume party.

  • Anonymous

the only things i really like are the hard clasp bags, but the three i’d actually spend monopoly money on are the purple velvet, the sparkly pink just under it, and the larger pink and red one with rosettes (y’all were obviously right about that color combo’s moment).

  • Anonymous

God help me, I love the boots and booties. If I were a celebrity, I’d wear tame outfits and shoes like these.

Not quite as in love with all the purses. My favorites are the fifth and ninth purses. The last bag is pretty nice, too. I like the fabric more than the design on that one. I like the design and pleating of the pink velvet and yellow satin ones, but I’m not digging the colors.

    • Anonymous

(except for the toeless ones. That trend needs to drop dead RIGHT NOW)

      Amen.

Honestly, I’ve seen fleece-lined open-toed boots.  How does that make any sense whatsoever?  (Yes, I know that fashion doesn’t always make sense, but still .  .  .)

  • Anonymous

If I had money to burn and an incredibly stylish wardrobe, I’d wear the short red booties. They’d be great with the right skirt.

I wish there was some scale on those bags. Some of them would be great depending on size.

  • Anonymous

I’m in almost complete agreement with Anathema–celebrity or not I’d wear any of those boots (of course I’d need to be 50 lb lighter, and at least 40 years younger) and I move to  Texas (New Mexico, Arizona) and go boot scootin’ every night. The bags–none of them floated my boat.

  • Anonymous

    Now that is art

  • Joyce VG

    LOVE!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

The pink butterfly purse and blue take-out purse!! So cute. And I’d love to have those crazy pink boots.  An all black outfit, or skinny jeans tucked in with a black menswear inspired blouse.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_P5HNP4MUD3ZNKTM5F2WQDDLZ4U BarbaraW

I seriously covet the purse with the cream background and black handle. The one with the pink and black flowers and butterflies. Want. Now.

  • Anonymous

    PURSES. #s 1, 5, 9, and 12.

  • Christy Cricow

    Covet every single bag!

  • Kwei-lin Lum

If I were 40 years younger, I’d want the first pair of boots, which are wonderfully crazy and mindblowing.  The other boots have too careful an aesthetic for me.  Ditto all of the purses.

  • mrspeel2

If I had the spare change to buy one of each, I’d pack them away very carefully and in about 25 years I’d ask Sotheby’s to auction them off for me. I’d be willing to bet I’d make back three times what I spent in the first place! But alas, it’s only a dream and therefore, I can’t, I shan’t and I won’t. Darn it.

  • Anonymous

If I *could* wear heels, I’d go for boots #1 (though wish the animal were something different (honey badger?) and #4. The purses don’t thrill me, tho the last one is a cool looking object. Wish there were boots in that blue colorway.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I would wear the SH!T out of those red, white and black half boots. Thems reeeeeeel purty.

  • Anonymous

I do like that blue handbag-I’d definitely snap that up, had I the bucks.
As for the boots, yep, just walk one pair of each over to Dolly. I think she’d make every pair work.

  • Michelle Nguyen

My first thoughts when looking at the boots were: “Dolly Parton, Dolly Parton, Dolly Parton…OOOH CUTE BAGS”

  • Addicted2Glamour

UUGH, yuk, those boots. Very Wynonna and Naomi, ca. 1991.

  • Laura Valentine

The gray ankle boots, and every. single. purse. OMG.

  • Anonymous

I like the first pair of boots…but paired with a pair of jeans so that you only see the bottom quarter of them

  • Anonymous

…. the little bag with the butterflies…. sigh!

  • Susan Walker

Is being 58 and wanting the  5th bag down  a bad thing?

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

      No. That’s a fantastically crazy-ass bag.

  • Anonymous

I want purse number nine.  But some of these flowers that erupt from beneath the skin, so to speak, are too – pustule-y.  Ugh.

  • Anonymous

I’m having the boots with red roses, the second one down, and that fierce fifth bag down.  Not at the same time.

  • Anonymous

I’ll take ALL of the purses please.  I can totally see Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a pair of those booties.  Also The Sev would look right at home wearing a pair of those booties.  Maaaaaybe Lady Gaga

  • Anonymous

I feel an irrational love for that last handbag.

  • Anonymous

My inner Barbie would DIE for the pink velvet bag.

But the true me is having a conflict over the final purple bag and the cream one with the butterfly. For the life of me I can’t imagine why, but I wantem.
Dolly can have all the boots, those boots are made for struttin’ by a gal with real sass.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mary.nease Mary Nease

Are you kidding? I would so rock those gold rose booties (though I wish they were closed toed), and I also claim dibs on the ninth purse down and the last purse as well.

  • Lynne Godfrey

I would love any and all of the taller boots.

  • Anonymous

I’ll take one of each bag, please.  I’m 40 and don’t give a shit.  These are gaudy AND fabulous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

I kinda love it.  And I could totally see Taylor Swift in the white/gold boots.

  • Anonymous

The boots are a little much (even for a cowgirl) but the purses are fab! I have to admit though, the black velvet bag with the gold handles is my favorite

  • Anonymous

Boots 2, 3, and 6 and the first purse. God I love Dolly Parton, maybe we can both wear them on the same day and be twinsies?

  • Anonymous

i want it all!  and have no use for any of it, since i’d break something if i tried to wear those boots.  i could carry one of the purses to a tea party with my luv of a granddaughter.  i’ll share, though.  helena bonham carter can borrow purse #13 (the penultimate purse) and any of the booties, but she has to promise not to wear them both at once.  gwen steffani may use purse #5, rhys witherspoon #7 with the elephant, and sookie stackhouse should carry one to the vampire club, she can pick it out herself.  someone, perhaps florence welsh, should carry #11 while wearing a sheer givenchy gown, and #12, the neutral sort of cream and peach, is so versatile it’s a must have for everyone.

  • Anonymous

    I love these!

  • emily mcginnis

    i would totally carry purses #4, #7 and #9. that’s about it.

  • http://twitter.com/anacedillo Ana Cedillo

i dont know how to feel about this, most of it is tacky, but some of those purses are pretty great like the black one

  • Anonymous

For some reason, as soon as I saw the red short boots and the cream-colored ones … I thought of “My Little Pony.”

  • Anonymous

Those pink boots NEED to be mine.  NEED I SAY!

  • Anonymous

ps. i like this stuff so much that i went & searched it out [i do have a tiny bit of money at the beginning of every year & miu miu, while ordinarily almost prohibitively expensive, isnt in precisely the same price range as the super high priced stuff]. anyway, it’s not available yet but i did wanna tell you that you are the number one google search result for any combo of the words:
    Miu Miu Spring 2012 Accessories
before, in fact, miu miu or prada themselves. if you wanted to know that, well, there you go.

  • Anonymous

Ohhh, those booties with the gold roses.  Sigh.  I’d be like a Texas Cinderella in those.

  • http://twitter.com/CantResistCody Loading…

there are actually about 5 of the items that i would actually wear! if its colorful, sparkly, and absolutely obnoxious, it catches my eye! LOL i love about 4 of the bags and the white floral bootie.

  • Anonymous

In this imaginary world, I needn’t chose.  I’ll just carry a different bag every day for two weeks!

  • Anonymous

I would totally rock those first two pair of boots – I mean what’s not to love about elephants on a busy pink print – and, seriously? – the red roses…I DIE! And any/all of the purses. I’ll be waiting patiently by my mailbox.

  • Anonymous

In my alternate universe, I’d rock the first boots all day long.  And I like me a kicky handbag…several choices there.  The folded roses stuff is ….uh….out of my league.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Claudia-Gilbert/875055316 Claudia Gilbert

The black, yellow, and red “flame” bag rocks the hizzle fo’ shizzle.  And I like the ankle boots, but I’m not at all fond of the peeptoe ankle boot that’s all the rage.  Put a toe on the boot and I’d wear it!

  • Melvis Velour

Honey, come down to Texas and watch the slugfest at Neimans when the debs get their claws on this stuff….totally

  • Anonymous

I love all of them!  The trick with great shoes like these is to keep the rest of the outfit simple.  And I agree, Miss Parton needs those white boots on her doorstop tomorrow.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

In a perfect world, I would take one of everything. Except the toeless boots. I just don’t get those. And that weird pink-discoball-snakeskin bag. Everything else, though, mama like.

AND. It looks expensive. I mean, there is always expensive stuff on here, but THESE boots and bags look worthy of the money. That leather is like buttah.

  • Anonymous

Thanks, but I’ll pass on everything.

  • Anonymous

These are far from my usual taste but the tooled leather boots are beautiful. I covet them knowing I probably wouldn’t have worn something so girly even back when I wore the occasional bold piece.

I am shocked by how well the boldly patterned purses work. (Though, they’d be SO MUCH nicer if Miu Miu didn’t have to slap their name on them.) Maybe I can see them positively because the boots prepared me with a mental image of the gal who’d rock these. (And there are plenty of those gals.)

With a lower, stacked heel, I see these (or, their still-pricey knock-offs) being nearly a uniform amongst a certain element of Austin’s night life.  Even as shown, I am sure I’ll be seeing some of these on some of my town’s well-to-do and well-maintained matrons-under-40 (or fighting to make the claim believable) as well as on some of the younger set. If the red carpet starlets aren’t up to it they need to up their iron supplements. Or red meat consumption.

And the leather purses will be taken up by many who can’t go all the way to the boots. Though most of the cloth bags don’t have a wow factor for me. They fit nicely into the “unappealing but temporarily seen-everywhere status purse, responsible for thousands of uglier knock-offs” category. The gathered ones bring coffin linings to mind.

    • Anonymous

Coffin linings!  Snort!  That made my morning!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michelle-Shields/1200782178 Michelle Shields

Not a fan of the boots, but those bags? I want them all!

  • megan howard

love love love! I am such a Miu Miu fan girl it’s not even funny. I would definitely take the red/black paisley boots and bag, the black velvet/suede (?) bag and the butterfly print bag. So good!

  • Anonymous

I see Suri Cruise walking around with that second purse in the near future.

  • Anonymous

Ya know, no-one but me cares, but up in my comment that Disqus won’t let me edit again, I called the boots ‘tooled leather.’ A brain slippage, since they are so obviously not tooled leather.

  • Anonymous

I love several of the boots and purses. It would take a sense of humor and a fine sense of styling to wear them. Perhaps a fabulous, simple designer pants suit with boots peeking out. I would have to skype with TLo for approval before walking out the door.

  • Anonymous

The three dimensional rosettes are throwing me off, they looks like a mini vag, in a Georgia O Keefe kind of way. Having lived in Houston, I think ladies from Texas would love this collection. The Western vibe is great, I would rock the second and 11th purses myself.

The second pair of boots in with the Yellow Rose of Texas or in those beautiful neutrals instead of the red would be perfect for Jewel or Sandra Bullock to get their Texan on.

  • Anonymous

LOVE. IT. ALL.  I covet them…

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I want to wear the high black & gray boots (third pair) with my black cashmere dress knee length dress. Very chic. I am kinda’ puzzled by the references to Nicki Minaj – I don’t see them as tacky or her over-the-top style at all. I see them as a visual interest counterpoint to a blank canvas-type of dress or skirt.  If stupid starlets will stop wearing micro-mini cocktail dresses and strappy sandals in the middle of the New York winter! then they would see that there are boots and coats aga-ga that would make them look both fashionable and sane.
And I’ll take one of each of the bags. Esp. the pink velvet one. yum!

  • Anonymous

This stuff is less literal than the Prada hot rod embellishments, which I loved, but I think I like these designs better.  I love the leather bags with the flames crawling up the middle.   I think those are the ones someone referred to as “vulva purses” or something like that.

I’m always a little confused when people rail against designs that look like ladyparts, or frame the ladyparts, or whatever.  I mean, what’s wrong with ladyparts?

  • http://twitter.com/democracydiva Democracy Diva

My favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast, and the rose-covered items make me feel like Belle, which is basically all I want in the universe. I’d rock the 2nd boot and the 10th purse like you wouldn’t believe.

  • Mariah J

The bags are okay…the shoes, NEVER

  • Anonymous

I want all the bags. Except maybe hat last one. And there’s another color combination for the boots (pink and red) that you didn’t feature, but that I want.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_K7VOQSAYZ7H2OBX6LOJNNIBSSE Amanda

I happen to like the first pair of boots and some of the purses…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1468295759 Connie B. Verzak

Never thought I’d see the day Kathy Van Zeeland hit it big. This is like someone raped Anne Hathaway’s character closet during Brokeback Mountain.

  • Sarafina Angstadt-Leto

The gray and gold boots are mine. To wear…I don’t know. Somewhere.

  • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

    Nice but Fluevogs cost less

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

Some of those purses are absolutely darling! It’s such a treat to see purses that aren’t aggressively ugly by design. I hate shopping for purses because while the bear trap shoe may have fucked off, we’re still stuck with the train wreck purse.

  • Anonymous

I dig these. Any of those boots with some rocking tight jeans would look awesome.

  • fallen_ikon

I would totally wear the second and third pair of boots. Love the roses on them, especially since they’re not nearly as vagtastic as the purses are.

  • Anonymous

I’d rock every one of those boots, if I could afford it, that it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Cookie.Taz Aisa Ginger Jake Psenicnik

I’d rock all the shoes, but none of the bags cus they suck and i hate bags.

  • Susan Crawford

I would take down a beeyotch for the grey, white and pink rosebud bag. Yes, I would. (And either of those open-toe booties may be delivered to moi ASAP, please.)

  • http://ymwlt.blogspot.com/ Dawn Sinclair

I’ll take the first pair of boots, black pencil skirt, crisp white blouse and rock the crap out of it ;) #fearlessfashion
