Lady Gaga’s Costume-Filled New Year’s

Posted on January 02, 2012

Steffi cycled through several personae for New Year’s Eve, as one would expect from the little fashion monster/attention whore. Let’s see if we can identify them all, shall we? Which one would you buy as an action figure?

      “little fashion monster/attention whore”

      Perfect.

Can you imagine what the white, fur lined train will look like after a short walk on New York City sidewalks?

      • Anonymous

I had the exact same thought!  Clearly I am not fabulous enough to keep my mind out of the gutter, literally.

      • Anonymous

That was my thought as well.  Followed by, is it treated? Or does she get some bulk dry cleaning discount somewhere.

      • Anonymous

I can imagine indeed.  I walk my dog around there regularly!

      • Anonymous

oh, the horror — can white fur be Cloroxed?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

I really hope that’s fake fur. I’d hate to think that on top of wearing real fur, she further disrespected the animals by dragging their hides around on the sidewalk.

(Ugh. I hate fur/leather so much and I’m not even vegan. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me.)

        • Anonymous

I don’t think ANYTHING is wrong with you. I’m not vegan or whatever either, support hunting for food, but still hate the idea of fur as an accessory!

        • Anonymous

I fully agree with you on the dragging of animals through the gutters and streets. It is FULL ON disgusting. I thought she was a more conscious and evolved human than that. C’mon Stephanie, do you realize how bloody many kids and girls look up to you and want to emulate you? What a mother humping bad example to set. All I see’ when I look at her in this cape are how many more creatures are going to be murdered for fashion. Stupid human race. May you come back as a mink, beyotch. Now, if it was indeed faux fur, well then, right on Sister! Also sorry but she is way too petite to pull off that particular runway look.

      • Anonymous

she has tony little demonlings who lick the dirt from the hems of all her garments as necessary.

    • BuffaloBarbara

Don’t forget, the Batman outfit comes with detachable portable cage.  My mother called me to say, “What the HELL is that?”

    • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

The fit on those disco balls makes me cringe; it’s not a very attractive or interesting costume regardless.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jane-Morris/1076502799 Jane Morris

They made hot ginger handler carry the champagne.

      • Anonymous

Actually, he’s stealing it.  He and Hot Bald Handler were coming over to my house.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Deborah-Jozayt/100002949685297 Deborah Jozayt

Is it me or are others getting bored with her wilder getups? I prefer her when she’s a little more demure. It’s still whackadoodle but much more attainable.

      • Anonymous

Yep. Although I actually quite liked the
Disco-Nehru Robot Girl outfit. Love that shade of gold/bronze/copper.

        • Sobaika Mirza

That’s my favorite of these too.

        • Anonymous

I liked it too, but I had a problem with the fit on the pants. Otherwise, that sidewalk statue thing really works for her, I think.

        • Call me Bee

          Yes–it’s almost…conservative!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998855370 Fatima Siddique

She was interesting for five minutes

    • Anonymous

I liked everything that she wore last night…why do people hate on her so much. Her fashion choices are not hurting anyone. They are actually whimsical and fun. She does so much for the GLBT community and young community in general. Gaga is a wonderful person and I think all these outfits are chic as hell. That versace gown is TO DIE FOR!

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Deborah-Jozayt/100002949685297 Deborah Jozayt

The whole point of this website is to critique, judge, and critique some more, even if it’s someone or something we like. Just because someone doesn’t agree with how you feel about her personally or her design choices doesn’t mean anyone’s hating on her. Our opinions aren’t hurting you unless you let them.

      • Anonymous

I also liked everything she wore. I like to see outrageous fashion fantasies actually worn out on the town by a celebrity instead of just being worn by a model on the catwalk or in a magazine spread. Gaga adds to the fun of fashion.

    • Anonymous

I like how Lady Gaga seems to fluctuate in weight a little. She seems to have put on some holiday cookie lbs like the rest of us. Also, I would like to wrap myself in that white fur cape thing she’s wearing in the last pics and watch the new season of Downton Abbey.

      • http://twitter.com/NC_Meg Megan

I also like that about her. I think her body is great but also still attainable.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

That’s how I feel about a lot of British actresses. :)

      • Call me Bee

I agree.  In that Batgirl outfit–her cheeks look almost…pudgy!  I love that!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

Apparently she  has lupus, even if she is in some slight denial about it (calling it “borderline”). My mother has it and she seems to fluctuate in weight the same way, as did my late cousins who died so young from it (21 and 10). I say “seems” because sometimes what looks like the beginning of a little vodka belly is actually the result of horrible intestinal inflammation or a fuller face is because of steroid treatments. But then there are times when my mumsy really has lost weight because she can’t eat because of said intestinal inflammation or because she’s in too much pain. So when I see Lady Gaga’s weight changes, I start wondering if she’s going through the same thing and start feeling bad for her.

I don’t know. Maybe it is just christmas cookie weight. Either way, Gaga looks fabulous and I’m forever grateful to  her for at least talking about lupus. I just wish she’d talk  about it more so there’d be more awareness and maybe even promote fundraising for research so we  don’t have to wait another 50 years for another breakthrough.

I’m only interested if I can buy scowly bald handler as well! I think I like the elf princess outfit the most. It’s like Cruella deVille sans dots.

    • Anonymous

Don’t you imagine it’s exhausting changing clothes that many times in an evening??  I’m pooped just thinking about it.

And I get a distinct Barbara Eden/Jeannie vibe out of the Batman Villianess getup.

      • Anonymous

I thought of B. Eden/Jeannie with the first one – I attributed it to the phony pony tail.

    • Anonymous

I only saw the Disco Ball look and felt like I was watching Edyie Gorme, or someone of that era. She seemed so awkward, though.

      • Anonymous

Perhaps she was feeling cold. It wasn’t *that* warm in NYC that night was it?

        • Anonymous

It wasn’t super cold, but, yeah, she must have been freezing. But it was something else. . . like she didn’t know how to interact with Mayor Bloomberg. I don’t know. I only saw the show for a minute or so.

      • Anonymous

Yes, I saw a minute or two after the ball drop when someone or other with a microphone was trying to talk to her. She seemed more than a little distracted.

    • Anonymous

I’m loving the Elf Princess costume the best…

    • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

      Love the Elf Princess costume!

    • Anonymous

I’m not usually a fan of so much gold’n’glitter, but I love the Nehru outfit and styling. The all white is pretty spectacular also.

    • Anonymous

The hair in the first is totally lacking. Sorry Gaga, you’ve made us demand more from you.

The Nivea add on the ball dropping podium is just postmodernist sad.

I think I’ll go with the last one -with a different solution in the leg area-, though I haven’t been very impressed all in all.

    • Anonymous

Echidna never disappoints. Although  I always wonder if she makes Susanne Bartsch gnash her teeth and swear.

    • Anonymous

What do you think about the coat worn by Hot Ginger Handler?  I’m no expert on men’s outerwear, but he seems to look pretty fabulous here.

      • Anonymous

I liked. But I like the way the bones are arranged in his face so much that I fear I may be a tad less than objective.

    • Anonymous

For me, a toss-up between Disco Nehru Robot Girl and Dusty Springfield Elf Princess.  I understand the silver, what with the dropping the ball and all that, but it’s too literal, if such a thing can be said about such an outfit at such a time and place.

    • Anonymous

Reaction of EVERYONE at our NYE party – get her the hell off our tv screens!

    • MilaXX

I was think disco Snow Queen for the last outfit.

    • Anonymous

OH MY GOD. I covet hot ginger handler’s coat in the first photo.

    • Mariah J

The batman villain would make the best action figure but the elf princess is quite lovely.

    • Anonymous

Love her looks, especially the silver dress, bot not the last white one.
Tintin Handler (whom you call Hot Ginger Handler) seems to have bought himself a Tintin trench-like coat. Next – knickers! I just don’t get your obsession with him.
Now, “scowly bald handler” (as someone called him) is a whole nother story.

      • Anonymous

        TinTin Handler! That’s perfect!

      • Anonymous

Isn’t Mother Nature wonderful, making sure that a wide variety of DNA persists in the gene pool? I wouldn’t cross the street for Scowly Bald Handler, but I’d go to great lengths in pursuit of Hot Ginger Handler.

    • http://twitter.com/anacedillo Ana Cedillo

Elf Princess for sure! and she looks really curvy in her 1960’s batman villain.

    • Anonymous

The bangs sticking out of the mask for the Batman villain look is a little odd (LOL, yes, with Gaga, *that’s* the weird part), and the Elf Princess cloak getting dragged all over the street made me wince.

    • http://twitter.com/Athenabast Athena Bast

Actually I was thinking she’s more Carol Channing than Dusty Springfield in that last outfit.

    • Anonymous

I shouldn’t like the golden Nehru suit, but I do!  And I love the disco ball mask.

      • Anonymous

My exact thoughts!  There’s something about that coppery suit that I like.  And the mask is fun–actually pretty sedate for Gaga1

    • Anonymous

I’ll take Black Diamond and her arch nemesis, Dusty Snow, please.

    • Anonymous

I pick the Hot Ginger Handler action figure.  Life-sized, please.

    • Anonymous

      you guys are pure genius

    • http://twitter.com/NC_Meg Megan

I feel like she took about 10 steps back. If you told me these were Paparazzi/The Fame-era Gaga, I would have believed you.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

      “Dusty Springfield, Elf Princess!”

Made me laugh.  Because I’m old enough to know who Dusty Springfield is.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1042716137 Jenny Stark

      DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, ELF PRINCESS LOLZZZ!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jane-Lister-Korwan-Doherty/1332309111 Jane Lister-Korwan Doherty

I want the Dusty Springfield, Elf Princess!

    • Anonymous

I was not at all digging the last look until you described it as “Dusty Springfield, Elf Princess” and now I love everything about it.

    • Anonymous

I thought the first one was Kim Jong Forever 21 Bin.

    • Valerie Little

That glittery thing looks like a satellite dish attached to her head. Wonder if she had to sign a three year contract on it…

    • Anonymous

      Disco-Nehru Robot Girl!

    • bloodshothalfblind

at this point, the only shocking outfit on her would be jeans & a t-shirt.

    • Anonymous

I like the Dusty Springfield look.  The silver plate on her head as she drops the ball, makes her look like a sparkly triceratops, to wit:
      http://media.photobucket.com/image/triceratops%20sparkly/bapity88/triceratops.jpg

    • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986/about?hl=en Judy S

      God bless her every one.

    • Anonymous

I’ll take the whole set.  And did Ginger get a new coat??  He must’ve been a good little handler.

    • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

Whatever, I would totally buy all the Lady Gaga action figures. The Goddess of Disco Balls is my favorite.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

I would buy disco ball goddess as well as the ginger handler accessory – he looks so adorable in that coat.

      • Anonymous

she’ll look adorable with mt. baldy doll as well.  the disco ball goddess figure should come with a life sized matching hat for the owner to wear while playing pretty pretty princess.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Dusty Springfield Elf Princess. Now why didn’t I name my daughter that?

    • Anonymous

I’ll take Disco-Nehru Robot Girl because I heard it comes in a twin pack with Hot Bald Handler!!!!!

    • Anonymous

So… Madonna, Madonna, the Phantom of the Opera and Carol Channing. I guess it’s a progression of sorts.

    • Lauren Maier

GOTTA COLLECT ‘EM ALL!!  Is there a Lady Gaga “retro” line as well, one that includes the lobster hat and the meat dress?

    • Anonymous

The Dusty Springfield outfit left me speechless in a good, there is no way real people wear or even think of this stuff way. It must be exhausting to make all thosemchanges….

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PRM766RS56X25A5742XLACK2LM Sam

I would Kill for a Lady Gaga doll, could you imagine the outfits they could make?

    • Anonymous

I… I kinda love those sparkly tights in the last picture.

    • Anonymous

      Disco Nehru Robot Girl FTW!

That one will work for her from now well into her 70’s.

    • Anonymous

other than the inevitable isabella blow rip soupy-çonned w/ the equally inevitable leigh bowery [RIP ALL], this is all also dandy & fine, not too much overt theft, just fancy clothes on a rich girl who surrounds herself w/ people who know a decent amount about fashion & a little bit about art. better this way than the other i suppose.

the people i know debate whether we live in 1984 or brave new world; i think a clockwork orange at least musically [largely if not entirely], she’s a fab example of that. then again, so is most music these days. the disco that dare not speak its name kind, i mean. the post kroq soundalike derivative musical ourouboral & tenor voiced centipede business is a little different. not better, mind, just other from this.

    • Anonymous

That black outfit is the new one for her role as the mascot for Massey Energy and their new Mountaintop Removal Mining is Patriotic! campaign.

      • Pam Winters

I figured her Bat-villain name there was Coal Scuttle. Ooo, or the Strip-Miner; she paralyzes Batman by taking off the outfit.

    • Anonymous

I’ll take three Hot Ginger Handlers, please.

    • Anonymous

The goddess of disco balls is my favorite.  Finally she dresses appropriate for an event.

    • Cathy S

It’s a good thing we can by Ginger Handler separately. The rest is to be avoided. You didn’t post the cute picture where she kisses Mayor Bloomberg! That’s one worth keeping. http://mukesh.co/2012/01/lady-gaga-kissing-mayor-bloomberg-photo-video/lady-gaga-mayor-bloomberg-kiss

    • http://twitter.com/MidnightHarlow Jackdee Baptiste

I just want to know where to get those tights/stockings in the last outfit. Anyone have a clue?
