Oh, Mary Louise. You did it again. You broke out the Stella McCartney uber-puffy sleeves one more time, even after we told you not to.

We supposed that coat/cape/vest thingie goes some way toward disguising the gigantic sleeves and for that, you should be commended, Mary Louise. On the other hand, you look like you’re graduating from Hogwarts today. Also, your makeup is heavy and those boots give us eye twitches. Love the jewelry, though.
Look, we think any lady has the right to wear what she wants if it makes her feel good and she’s comfortable. But actresses on red carpets promoting their movies are working under higher expectations. Meryl’s the greatest actress of her generation and she’s past the point where she has to obsess over her looks anymore. We like and respect that she’s not a fashionista. Which is why we wish she’d leave fashion to the people who know how to do it. In other words, if you’re going to commit to Stella McCartney on the RC, then you’ve already decided you’re willing to use fashion to promote yourself, so any criticisms we have are coming from inside that box. We liked it better when she was turning to Chris March for her dress needs, because he understood she didn’t want something fussy and could turn out a dress that flattered her while keeping her comfortable. She’d be far better off using talented dressmakers than scoring free merch from designers.
We love you Mary Louise, but we just can’t sign off on this one. Comfort yourself with your decades or worldwide accolades. We’re sure they’ll help to take the sting out.
IN! Blankets are all the rage now!
OUT! Sweetie, you might be comfortable in that thing, but you look twice your size.
