In or Out: Jennifer Aniston in Dolce & Gabbana

Posted on January 30, 2012

We still have at least one more megapost rundown of a bunch of SAG Awards looks, but let’s shine our spotlight in another direction for a moment. Let’s all look at Jen.

Jennifer Aniston at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards in a Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with Celine shoes and a Salvatore Ferragamo bag.

Hi Jen.  You’re in another bathwrap of a dress, we see.

Yep: Pin-straight hair, naked shoes, and a beaded bath towel. It’s been the uniform for over a decade now. We’re not so cold and cruel as to suggest she actually looks bad here. No, she looks hot and that’s always been Goal Number One with her. But for the first time, she looks pretty over it, doesn’t she? Like she might actually be tired of dressing this way? Is it getting to her? Are we having an effect? Clap louder, children!

It’s up to you. You hold the power to push Jen over the edge; to finally get her to admit that maybe she’s getting a teensy bit too old for these dresses, even if she still has the bod to pull them off. You can do this, kittens. You can send a powerful message. Don’t let us, Jen, or the very idea of style and taste down.

Vote Now!

IN! Fuck the haters, Jen! I love you!

OUT! Desperate, sad, and tired.

SJP’s NYC Boho-chic confused a lot of kittens and there was much debate, but the vote came down to IN. Kate Beckinsale didn’t fare as well and her folded-napkin dress got a bored “OUT” from the commentariat.

    OUT. Too short, over it.

    • Anonymous

Maybe the length is why there are all these women staring at her ass with supercilious smiles…

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_KEYJDIENR5MRK2NXJYKNOLWDFE Alexandria

HAH! In EVERY single picture! That’s awesome.

      • http://www.lindamerrill.com Linda Merrill

If they are staring with supercilious smiles, it’s because they are jealous. While the look is boring and monotonous, she’s got the bod – and legs – to carry it off. I think they are wondering how she does it, but they also know that if they are standing right behind her, they are likely to be caught on camera – hence the plastered on smiles.

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Also: shoes are boring. Nothing interesting here at all.

  • http://twitter.com/ryenerman rynerman

Sure she looks fine, but damn I am so incredibly tired of seeing her in basically the same dress and shoes all the time.  Surely she must also be tired of this?

    • Anonymous

but didn’t I read that she ate the same thing for lunch every day while Friends was being filmed? That’s commitment, so I don’t expect her dress code to change either LOL

      • Anonymous

        Commitment? Or OCD?

        • Anonymous

          Or complete lack of imagination?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=811053804 Stacy Parker Cole

Is she preggo? She looks like she always looks.  No better no worse.  Considering some of the disasters out there.. I’ll take this any day.

    • Anonymous

I don’t know. I kind of prefer the disasters. At least they give us something to talk about.

  • Anonymous

OUT. Honey, you’re over 40. Get a grip. You look desperate.

    • Anonymous

      Or clueless.

    • Anonymous

Why can’t women over 40 wear a minidress.  Are we to be tarred and feather for showing a little leg.  What’s next, sidesaddle?  Chastity belts?  Scarlet Letters?  Jen’s definitely got the bod for it and the dress is event appropriate – so why not.  Here is a women of class and great fortitude and in my opinion is far from desperate let alone dress as though she were.  So as a woman of 43, I say brava, she looks smoking hot.

      • Anonymous

Nope, she looks desperate. You’re entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to mine. Desperate.

      • http://www.tomandorenzo.com Tom and Lorenzo

Congratulations, you have raised hysteria to an art.

        • Anonymous

Oh oh, was your comment directed to me.  If so, I certainly don’t want to come off as hysterical.  I’m just a little frustrated with whole ‘age appropriate’ judging of grown women.  If there’s is one good thing about getting older it should be determining what’s for you and what isn’t.  Though I get that that others are entitled to their own opinion.

But I stand by women wearing  whatever we want to wear and not being slaves to external controls.  The caveat being that the apparel is event/venue appropriate.  One wouldn’t want to wear a bikini to your kids softball game.  In this case, I don’t find her dress to be overtly sexy albeit a little on the short side.  But Jen has the legs for it, so what the heck.  It’s not like she’s pulling a Pamela Anderson or a Coco.  I am I wrong?  I totally value your opinion, being a devoted bitter kitten and all.

          • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

It’s not so much a “right or wrong” thing as a “let’s not all jump straight to chastity belts and scarlet letters” thing.

In our experience, almost everyone has a threshold when it comes to the question of age-appropriate clothes. For some, that threshold is very high, like, say… backwards baseball caps and tank tops on 85-year-olds, and for others, that threshold is much lower, like no miniskirts after 35. The rest of it is quibbling over the details and/or the level of disapproval. We’re actually harder on men than we are on women when it comes to this question, but that’s not at all unusual for gay men. Generally speaking, we’re of the opinion that anyone, male or female, past a certain age, should not be putting “fuckable” at the top of the list of qualities they want the world to see first. That’s not to say that “sexy” is off the table, just that there’s an innate sexiness that comes with experience and once you hit your mid-40s (in our opinion), you should cultivate that kind of sexiness rather than the kind you were flaunting at 22. Not that we think any lady in her 40s needs to look at her for guidance, but take Helen Mirren as a prime example of how a woman in her 60s can look sexy as hell without wearing a dress normally seen on college students.

      • Anonymous

A woman over 40 has plenty of sexy options. The problem with a mini-dress bathtowel is that it throws EVERYTHING against the wall in hopes that something will look sexy. It’s the dress for someone who would go out on the red carpet in their underwear if they could. The reason it’s a look for 20 year olds and not 40 year olds is that it screams, rather loudly: “I’m too young to have anything substantive to offer the world except this perky body, please, please look at me!” Whereas a woman of 40 should be wearing a dress that says, “Here’s a little leg/boob/ass because I enjoy it. I’m not going to give away the whole show, because I don’t need to. Now you show me what you have to offer ME, world.”

        • Anonymous

I kinda get what you mean.  I certainly don’t run around town in spandex everything as I did in my twenties.  As a matter of fact, my present day underwear somewhat resembles my out-a-wear of yesteryear!

Haven said that, Jen is wearing a sexy but classy dress.  She may be guilty of a repetitive formula but not of carrying on like a desperate trollop.  This look works for her.

      • oohsparkley!

I happen to agree with you.  If you’ve got the legs go for it.  She is far from desperate.  Haters gotta hate.  She has a definite look because she knows it works.  When she experiments, it isn’t always sucessful.

        • Anonymous

And that definitive look is… boringness?  I mean the desperation aside, it doesn’t get more basic than ‘tube dress’. Would it really kill her to put some kind of interestingly-cut jacket over it? Girl is in a rutt.

  • http://twitter.com/project_pandora Rachel S.

OUT. You’re better than this, Jen (and I don’t even care for your movies that much. But come on, it’s just getting sad at this point). Reach your full potential!! I believe in you, girl!

  • Anonymous

In, I just can’t give that an out.  However, I think she should add a couple inches to the skirt & wear some color!

    • Anonymous

I agree.  Yes, it’s boring, but she looks fantastic and has clearly decided that she’s not going to try for fashion icon status, so who are we to judge?  (Well, we’re TLo minions, obviously, but you know what I mean).

    • Anonymous

I’m with you on all counts.  Saw it from the front and was all “mmm, that’s kinda short,” then saw it from the back and was all “WHOAH THAT’S SHORT.”  I love a woman over 40 in a mini but this is a bit too much.  I would think this was a tad too short on a woman of any age.

    • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

Thank you!  It’d have been great to see at least a punch of color with this look.

  • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

OUT. Not just for the dress but also the shoes, the hair and the accesories. She needs to stop trying to work the same style she had 20 years ago and grow up a bit more gracefully.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  She reeks of fear and desperation…

  • Anonymous

OUT.  This might as well be any picture of her from the last eight years or so, you’d never know the difference between her look in 2004 or 2007 or 2012.  Yes, Jen, we get it.  You have great hair and legs.  But that does not make up for wearing basically the same thing at event after event for a decade.  You can do better!

  • tylka5

    Out – Yawn

  • http://twitter.com/OracleKath Kathrine Marlow

OUT OUT OUT  Let’s try something new and different shall we?

  • Anonymous

I actually think this look is unflattering on her. She’s too busty and short for these dresses. These might look good on, like, miranda kerr but probably not on her. At least not anymore.

  • http://twitter.com/NC_Meg Megan

Out. And is it just me or does she look fuller in the hips & butt? She’s usually so tiny and toned so I can’t tell if she’s put on a little weight or if it’s the dress. (Either way she still looks fine, just with bigger hips than I’m used to seeing her with.)

    • Anonymous

The dress looks thick and heavy to me.

    • Anonymous

I think it is the dress.  It seems just a tad overworked to me.

    • http://twitter.com/VicksieDo VicksieDo

Maybe she’s been eating with the new guy?  That would be great, she looks a healthy weight here.  Otherwise, it’s a bore.

  • Anonymous

So out. When I first scrolled down I scowled at the entire picture – it’s kinda pathetic and depressing.

  • Joyce VG

IN and OUT?  With Jennifer Aniston I just don’t know anymore.

    • angela rose

how about for Jen we use “stale” or “fresh” instead of in and out? This is so very stale.  Like Melba Toast stale.

      • Joyce VG

        “Fresh” or “Stale” LOL

  • http://twitter.com/ohmybears48 Michelle Argento

Out. Holy crap. Trying tooo hard.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I’m with you guys, she looks good but I am SO over this look for her that it has to be OUT. And you know I am all about hygiene and this dress is way too short to sit down in a shared space.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jill-Tracy/100001557759289 Jill Tracy

    OUT!!!!

  • R. L.

    OUT.  So expected and tired.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s an in, but just because there’s nothing actually “wrong” with it. Though I’m still bored to tears by it.

  • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

I actually like it here, the dress is another bathtowel, but at least not in a natural, and the glossy over black looks nice. And it looks like she ate the sandwich that Angelina is missing, and she looks like a health human being instead of a skeleton with hair extensions. IN

    • Anonymous

Seriously, does every post on Jen or Angelina have to link to the other one?  They’re both their own women.

      • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

I really didn’t mean to make that association beyond the fact that Angelina (as many other star/lets) is stick skinny and Jen here isn’t . I could probably use any other example, except that everybody was praising Angie’s look yesterday and all I could think about was “those are not the arms of a healthy person”.

    • Anonymous

I guess I should feel guilty that I had the same reaction – plus I was writing:

I guess I am one of the few (women) who think she looks great.  Yes it is “typical” and not unusual at all – but way better .rash bagthan most of the boring crap Angelina wears.  I can’t understand guys who consider bony more attractive.  And a little black (bathmat) dress is still better than a vampira t

  • Anonymous

    Ugh, out.
I see she is letting the hair grow out into that same old style again.
Why is this woman so afraid of change? Is she going to be 80 years old with this hair and the beaded bath towel dresses?

  • Anonymous

Out. Tired, expected, and (IMHO) not age appropriate.

Jen – you had many good years in this uniform, but it’s time for a makeover.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  It’s such a tired look.   It makes her look like she’s trying too damn hard to be seen as hot.  Desperation is not sexy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

OUT. If it would have been knee length it would have been a knock out.  We get it Jen, you have beautiful legs.  Maybe you and Blake Lively could get together and make some gyno length dress line or something.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

In – there’s an old recipe for success that goes something like, “do one thing, and do it better than anyone else.”  She OWNS this look.

  • Anonymous

I really, really love Jen Aniston, but I’m soooo over this look. Absolutely over it.

Out, girl. You’re my age. You might be hotter than me, but you are not a spring chicken. Dress for success!

  • MilaXX

OUT she’s too old for this look. Time to try something new. I don’t even mind if she keeps the hair/makeup the same, but please wear a real pair of shoes, with an actual dress that has sleeves and is 2-3 more inches longer than this.

  • Anonymous

Yawn, so boring, so expected, so sad.
    OUT.

  • Mariah J

OUT My grandmother takes more fashion risks than Jen

  • Anonymous

The dress looks a bit dated. Maybe it’s one of her older ones?

  • Anonymous

If this doesn’t merit an “Of course,” I don’t know what does.

  • Anonymous

Wow. too short. I had to look away, even with those gams!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kelsey-Albrecht/100001647200441 Kelsey Albrecht

OUT. She’s as bad as Lea M. tbh.

  • Anonymous

Usually events like this call for a gown, not a micro mini.  Jen hon? Your sex kitten expiration date has passed and soon it’s going to look really embarrassing. But at least you’ve had the good sense to take it easy on the plastic surgery (or you have an excellent plastic surgeon.)

  • Laurie Bergman

It’s just kind of sad when someone so beautiful just looks the SAME all the time.  The time comes when “I am rocking a signature look” becomes “I am unable to see my way out of this rut.”  “Out” being the operative word here.

  • Anonymous

Yawn. Boring for sure – but I can’t give it an out either -so IN. (even though it is too short)

  • http://pleasewelcomeyourjudges.com/ Brian @ PWYJudges

For looking so good, she doesn’t look comfortable at all. OUT.

  • Anonymous

Desperate might be a bit harsh – she does look pretty great – but sad and tired, yes. Did she hold the hem down all night? OUT.

  • Anonymous

Absolutely out! I’m not a fan of Jen’s (she can’t act) but she’s a very attractive woman and could be werq’n it in so many different ways! What is she so afraid of? Maybe her current boyfriend likes her this way…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

OUT. Not only she’s too old for those “dresses”, but that particular dress is not that flattering. The heavy beading on the bodice is giving her a little tummy, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have one.

  • Anonymous

I’m just laughing at the girl in the black dress in the background.  You just know she’s thinking “Jen.. that dress is too short”.

  • Anonymous

OUT. Once you hit the mid-40s, you should be secure enough in yourself to know you don’t have to flaunt it even if you’ve got it, which she does.

  • Anonymous

OUT  You are not a teenager… PUT ON SOME CLOTHES!

  • Anonymous

Just noticed – does the red pedicure and French nails on her hands bother anyone else? It looks like she stubbed her toe!

  • Anonymous

OUT.  She needs to find a new thing, now.  This one has been beaten to death and then hung up and beaten some more.

  • Anonymous

    can’t type…I’m clapping too harrrrrdddddd….

  • Anonymous

OUT.  Starting to look like ‘Desperate Cougar Housewives’ material.

  • Anonymous

In.  It’s nice to see an actress looking so healthy, happy, and well-fed.

  • Anonymous

I can’t even vote on this.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/REI3OIUQWRBYQU5JUBBO7AJI7I Cb

Before I even clicked on the link from my RSS feed, I said to myself: short, tight, strapless, and either nude or black.  I was disappointed to be so on the nose.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  For me, it has nothing to do with age–Lea Michele also ruins a lot of great dresses by showing so much leg that all you think is “desperate”.  I actually would give Jennifer an IN if the dress was a little longer, because it’s a beautiful dress.

  • Anonymous

Out. Too typical. And too damned short!

  • Betsy Wasser

    Out! Boring!

  • Anonymous

If the skirt were knee-length this might be an IN. The beading is interesting, but it makes the dress very heavy which looks terribly wrong on a dress the size of a bath towel. The shoes are boring; the hair is boring, and there’s no accent with jewelry, or bag, or shoe. It all looks like “paralegal, wearing the one expensive dress that one guy bought her once, so she can sit in the hotel bar and maybe have fun flirting with strangers” because there is *nothing* to the outfit but the dress and the dress isn’t that good. It’s boring and OUT.

  • Anonymous

Out. At least it’s in black rather than grey or tan/taupe/whateverthehellneutral. It’s the lack of imagination that bugs me more than anything. Give up on the bath towels!! We can all watch Nick at Nite and see you in Friends, in bath towels, with the same hair, and Jen, you’ve simply GOT to move on, darling!!!!

  • Anonymous

About 4 inches longer would be hot. This is slutty.

  • Anonymous

sparkly towel:  ugly since 2002.  move on, jen!  OUT.

  • Anonymous

UGH. Out for age inappropriateness and tack-appeal. Grow up, act marginally close to your biological age, and put on an effing skirt. Jen is boring!

  • Rand Ortega

Take a chance, Jen. America will still love you.
PS: This is the last time I will ever bother to respond if this is all you ever have to offer the world of fashion & your fans.
    I’ve had it.

  • Anonymous

Out. I feel like I am on auto-pilot when voting about Jen.

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

Is it possible to be in and out? Because she looks great–the dress fits, is very pretty, no boobies or
hoohas hanging out, hair is brushed and styled, she looks clean and not
starving, lumpy or inebriated. But it’s the same-old same old and thus boring, bland and effortless.

We need a new category–IN vs. OUT just doesn’t cut it. How about we call this pulling an Jenannjolie?

  • Anonymous

Oh, for God’s sake–these photos could have been taken in 1999. Or any year between then and now.  Same hair, same dress, some shoes, sazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

    BORING!  And OUT OUT O-U-T!

  • Anonymous

    OUT

Seeing how most of the people in the background are dressed more formally… in gowns and tuxedos, Jen looks trashy in this sparkly, uber-mini, bath towel.  well..she’d look trashy even if everyone were dressed more casually too… ;)

  • aimee_parrott

Agreed, she looks like she’s boring herself.  OUT.

Jen, you’re so lovely and you HAVE got a rockin’ bod that most people would kill for, but show a little imagination.  Please?

  • lilibetp

    OUT!  Desperate, sad, and tired.

Strapless, too short, heels too high, veiny feet.  And I thought at first that the shoes were so tight they had turned her toes black.  Then I realized it was just black nail polish, and I’m over that, too.  Hair too long and too straight (although I understand full well why she wears it in her oddly-shaped face).  How she ever got her first acting job I just don’t know.  As far as I’m concerned, she has nowhere near enough talent to make up for her nose, jaw, and chin.  She does have pretty blue eyes, though.  Oh wait! those are contacts.

  • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

OUT.  Pass this look on to someone else and find something fresh.

  • Anonymous

I know it’s L.A., but it’s still January, for goodness sakes. At least pretend that it’s winter, maybe? More covered, maybe? I want to throw a coat over her. Out, and then some.

  • Anonymous

Haha! I thought of T Lo’s previous bathwrap comments the minute I saw a photo of her. But, even if the schtick is old, she looks good. Hair and makeup look nice and she looks refreshingly healthy compared to the increasingly skeletal frames walking around Hollywood these days. I do think she needs to change it up, but still I have to give her an IN.

  • Anonymous

    OUT

  • Anonymous

I’ve always been a fan of hers. She seems pretty laid back and cool.

I guess I needed to share that sentiment because I feel kind of bad slamming this outfit, but unfortunately it’s getting to the point where a dress that short — or at least always wearing dresses that short — is just not age-appropriate, as much as I hate that phrase. She doesn’t need tiny dresses to convince us that she’s hot. We get it. She’s got enough star power that she could be going for more of a glam look or at least taking more fashion risks and leaving the sparkly bath towels to the flavor-of-the-month Hollywood 20-somethings.

Also, this observation is not a criticism by any means, but it does look like she’s put on a few pounds. (THAT’S A GOOD THING). (Actually, that second pic has kind of a Kelly Clarkson vibe.) She looks healthy . . . but I too wondered if she might be a little preggo when I first saw these pics. And there’s something going on with her face. I can’t put my finger on it. Is she messing around with too many fillers? That side shot of her face looks a little jowly or something. Maybe it’s just bad lighting. I look like a character from “Fraggle Rock” in any lighting, so I don’t even know why I’m chiming in about it.God, that is the most I’ve ever said or even thought about Jennifer Aniston. — Long-ass, rambling commentary courtesy of  Erinn “I’ve got way too much time and caffeine on my hands this morning” F.

  • Anna Tree

    YAWN. OUT.

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry to disappoint you, but this is an IN. Even though the basic outfit is done and done, it’s a particularly good version of it. That beading is spectacular.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know about over it. More like done. She’s done.

  • Anonymous

OUT!!! Seriously, there are ways to look hot besides this. Her and Lea Michele need to go to a “Stop Trying So Hard” workshop.

  • marilyn

Out.  She has been wearing this look for almost 20 years.  It is time to change.  I think it is too short and tight for her.  I don’t remember her being so curvy, which makes this look a little tacky.

  • Anonymous

Wouldn’t she look awesome in the blue Calvin Klein that Jessica wore?
I wonder what she would do with something like Regina’s lavender number? I’d love to see her in something totally out of her comfort zone.
Out – but I had to slap myself awake to type it.

  • Anonymous

I think “desperate, sad, and tired” describes it perfectly. you just look at her and sigh. really dear. really?

  • Anonymous

Desparate, sad, tired, boring, pathetic, lazy and dull – a big out to the seven dwarves of Aniston

  • Anonymous

Somebody she admires told her at some point that this is her look and how to create a personal style is to find what works for you and you stick with it. And that is what she has done. Unfortunately, it is what is worn by a long, long, long list of Hollywood 20 to 28-year-olds with great bodies, so is it really a personal style? Or is it just easy?

At least it isn’t the old nude dress.

  • Anonymous

    OUT.

  • Anonymous

OUT – this is beyond boring at this point.  When you have boatloads of money and designers throwing gowns at you, why would you show up wearing the same thing over and over and over and over again.  And, how about changing up the hair for once?

  • Anonymous

Lengthen the skirt a little and she could still get away with this look once in a while, but not all the time.  Try something different.

  • Anonymous

    OUT

  • Sara__B

She’s stuck in a ruck and I’m not sure she can get out. (Maybe she could start with a wider towel, one that comes closer to her knees.)

  • Anonymous

We need another category in this instance.  There’s nothing terribly wrong with this particular outfit on this particular day.  It’s not so hideous as to garner an Out.  Can we perhaps say “Over”?  In/Out/Over.  Both a judgement system and something that sounds vaguely naughty!

  • Anonymous

Jen is desperately working to hold on to that (dubious) “sexiest woman of all time” honor…Lea and JLo better step up their games!  ;)

Oh Tlo, I wish Jen would hear your reasoned and sensible plea. You do so right by her, if she’d only listen.

  • http://profiles.google.com/h.e.waddell Heather Waddell

Out. I never saw her appeal in the first place and by now I’m just bored with her and her look. Also, when it’s an evening of gowns, I kinda feel like this dress is (for Jen) the equivalent of jeans and sneakers with a blazer that guy celebs do.

If I were not so lazy I would find the last 20 RC posts you have made for her so we could compare and contrast. But then again, there would be no contrasting. Every notice how she doesn’t get one of those famous People mag “Her changing looks” run downs? Because they haven’t. And that is not a compliment.

Honestly, I think if she changed her personal style, she might be offered better roles (she dresses the part of Slightly Too Old Romantic Comedy Star all the time). Maybe that’s not what she wants. I still boggle at the fact that Nicholas Cage does the crap movies he does, but the pay must be good.

I think she looks great but the look is so boring by now.  However, where is it written that just because you’re over 40 you have to stop wearing short dresses?  As long as you look good in them, of course.  Even though she looks fine, I’m giving her an out.  Change it up, please, Jen.

    • Anonymous

personally i just find short dresses desperate-looking on the over 40 crowd. always.

  • Anonymous

When I look at this get up, it reminds me of how some women  – who lack any real power – choose to dress like this to wield their sexuality as their most potent bargaining chip. She’s too successful for this look, for heaven’s sake. Perhaps she thinks it makes her look confident and strong to gad about so, but she would be wrong.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tiyuju Yuju Ti

Out. I read the Dita Von Teese post right before I read this. Like Jennifer, Dita has had the same style for over a decade, but she manages to keep it fresh and not desperate. Maybe Jen needs to call Dita for tips.

  • http://www.myblackfriendsays.com myblackfriendsays

You guys hit the nail on the head. She is getting to old to dress like this. You don’t want people thinking you’re way younger until they see your face. She’s got a bangin’ body, but…OUT.

Out.  Come on Jen. There are still ways to look good over 40 without the bath towel dress.

Out.  All I see in this look is a seething Lea Michelle, who’s afraid she won’t be getting this much attention next week.  Pathetic, gross, and I don’t think her bod is THAT slammin.  But I’d still take it in a heartbeat :)

In. She does look over it, but that might be the occasion, not the dress. As you say, she doesn’t look bad here, although it’s kind of dated and boring.

  • Anonymous

The thing that kills me about her is that she’s got the looks, money, resources, stylists, etc., to do ANYthing, and she could look so chic and amazing if she would just stop with this old, tired, and yes, desperate routine. It’s so boring! She’s got everything going for her looks-wise (even though i don’t find her particularly compelling), and what does she do? The Same Thing. Every Time.

Out. Out. Out. LIke a light. And will be, every single time she continues to wear this yawn-worthy getup.

  • Anonymous

I can’t. I wish I looked that tired and desperate. IN.

  • Anonymous

I don’t even think she looks hot.  The beading makes the dress look thick, and the dress itself isn’t pretty or remotely interesting.  And it’s too short, regardless of her age.  OUT.

  • http://twitter.com/rgmx Mercy

Out.  But let me also say that after a decade of “Poor Jen” media, in which her life serves as the sad story cause celebre, I wouldn’t be looking nearly so pulled together.  In fact, I’d be hiding in a cabin in the woods.  Good for her for sticking it out, but she really needs to add an ass kicking element to her career and her PR, SO over the boyfriend/husband parade.

  • Anonymous

Oh FFS. Doesn’t she get bored? (I guess that’s an out.)

Yes, my first thought was I wish it was longer. And also that she was starting to get kind of a cougar look to her. But that doesn’t mean it’s an out. She still looks amazing. Just maybe she could look better. Anyway, I don’t know why people have to hate on her so much. . . IN.

  • http://www.lindamerrill.com Linda Merrill

I think if a person can truly look like that in a tiny dress, then they are not too old to wear it – they are redefining what it is to be a certain age. Isn’t saying she’s “too old” like saying a woman over 40 has to cut her hair above her shoulders or a woman over 60 has to cover her arms? If they are toned and still look good – why not?

  • Anonymous

It’s a pretty dress on a pretty woman, but it’s getting a bit too much into cougar territory.  It’s not 1996 anymore, Jen.  OUT.

Out. Boring. Of course, if I had her body I’d just walk around nude. But she can still look hot in something besides this same dress over and over again.

  • mrspeel2

Well, if she IS getting tired of dressing this way, I think Jen picked a gorgeous dress for her Swan Song to “bathwrap” attire. It’s a humdinger. Hair looks fab. LOVE those shoes. You Go Girl!!!

The short, sparkly bath towel is her uniform, and while she does look good (even with the weight gain), she needs to step her game up a bit, and stop dressing like a woman half her age. A qualified IN–for now.

  • Scott Isaacs

Yawn. Out. Can she step outside her comfy little box, just an eensy teensy widdle bit?

OUT. I know it’s her thing, but there’s having a style and then there’s just wearing variations of the same thing for every public appearance. Also, the dress is making her look thicker than she really is through the waist; I doubt that’s what she was going for.

  • vix eljay

From the waist-up, I was prepared to give this an IN.

Once I scrolled down, it was an automatic OUT.  God, have some guts and wear a long dress.  It’s not hard to be elegant when you have money, and you have piles of that stuff.

  • Anonymous

Out, yawn, whatevs on the dress.  She does look a little softer, rounder, though, doesn’t she?  The rags say she’s expecting and I couldn’t look at these pics and say No Way.

I swear, she is this generation’s Goldie Hawn.  She will rock this look long after the expiration date.

  • http://twitter.com/BrienneCalmer Brienne Calmer

The fit at the bottom reminds me of the ribbing at the bottom of an oversized sweatshirt, like I wore in the nineties going through my awkward middle school body-change angst.  You can’t be 27 forever, Jen, and neither can your clothes.

  • Anonymous

Just lengthen it to the top of the knees and she’d look killa… she is getting too old for the top of the thighs like that.

  • Anonymous

Lea Michele’s style icon?  You can almost see her crotch!

  • Anonymous

She looks great. She needs a new look.

  • Anonymous

Out, but it’s pure prejudice.  She wears the too-short bathwrap dress as well as just most out there, so I can’t call her out, unless we are going to age-restrict the look. And, that way lies celebrity appearances in nothing but push up/strapless bras & spanx, because a whole heck of a lot of them are wearing age-inappropriate ensembles, IMO.

She shouldn’t still be wearing this but I have to admit she looks as good in it as – or better than – probably two thirds of the women who wear it.

  • Anonymous

I agree. Her youthful looks are beginning to fade a bit. Jen is beginning to look like she is trying to hard to be young. The lenght is what is wrong here…she is one breezeaway from showing off the good china.

IN. She should continue to work that bod for as long as she can. Age discrimination is no laughing matter, in Hollywood or anywhere else. She looks amazing and wants to show it. I say go for it. (I realize I’m not really critquing the dress, I’m critiquing the critics who say she’s too old to pull this off.)

  • Anonymous

y’know, fuck the haters.  yes, she wears the same thing all the time.  but y’know?  is having a signature style that’s simple and classic and sexy the worst thing in the world?  she’s an actress, no more no less.

The dress itself is fab and the styling is also nice… would’ve been perfect for her if it were an inch longer!

There is a BIG difference between knowing your “personal branding style” and being in a fashion rut. Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly are examples of celebrities who knew their brand, yet they always looked fresh. Jen’s default look of beaded bathtowel with sandals is beyond boring.

  • kimberlini

OUT.  Age as the issue is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the first photo.  I’d love to see her segue into a more flattering style that isn’t simply about trying to look young, hot, and ready to go clubbing.  How about BEFORE she starts looking like mutton trying to pass for lamb?  Or, is it too late?

For the most part I don’t have a problem with her signature look – there have been some hits & some misses. This is an OUT for me simply because I find the dress and the shoes boring.

  • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Cripes, enough with the micro-minis, Jen. That’s a pretty fab dress, and it would be even more fab if it were knee-length. I’m not going to criticize the hair. It’s her hair and she obviously loves it that way and it looks like she’s been getting regular haircuts of late. Those shoes, on the other hand, should be thrown in the river. It’s not that they lack fierceness. I just hate strappy, “naked” shoes.

I love Jennifer Aniston, but this is an OUT.
