Pairs Division: Blunt and Krasinski

Posted on December 07, 2011

These two are so adorable they make us want to pee sunshine every time we look at them.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski at the formal Artist’s Dinner honoring the recipients of the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC. Emily Blunt wears a Giambattista Valli gown.

Couldn’t you just slap them?

SHE: Is serving up chic. That neckline is perhaps not as flattering as it could be, but we love the one little sleeve. Great color and shape too. Hair’s a little goofy, but otherwise the detailing is polished and not focus-pulling. It’s all about that color. Score: 8.5/10. We do think the makeup’s a tiny bit on the harsh side, which is funny considering how much we’ve been complaining about played-down makeup lately.

HE: Is a tall, broad-shouldered man in a perfectly fitted expensive tuxedo. What’s to criticize? We’re pretty sure the pulling and riding up with the jacket is due to the hand shoved in his pocket, which is why we always bitch at the men for standing with their hands in their pockets. Score: 9/10. One point off for not listening to us.

Combined Score: 8.75. Hmm. Is that too low? We think they both look well dressed, put together, and a little chic, but we’re not feeling a perfect score for either of them.

So perfect, I want to slap them.

  • Adorable! I do want to slap them a little.

I am IN LOVE with Emily Blunt’s dress. Such a beautiful color.

    • Anonymous

I am IN LOVE with Emily Blunt!

    • Anonymous

I know, I need that dress for myself. That color is made for pale brunettes (like moi!). I also need John Krasinksi in my bed.

  • Anonymous

WHY did Emily Blunt have to go and steal him??

    • Anonymous

      I know, right?

  • TLo “pee sunshine”!?!  You guys are hilarious!  They ARE very cute – and it’s so nice to see happy celebrities.  He looks like so much fun…

  • Tara Burkholder

Oh John Krasinski, how I could do some dirty, dirty things to you.

  • Just can’t help but love this couple. They look fantastic!

  • foodycat

They look really good. All other tall, broad men who have expensive suits offered to them should take a lesson. I also really like that she is smiling, which she used not to do very often.

  • Allison Woods

I don’t know who these little muffins are, but they are awfully darn cute. Is she the next Parker Posey/Zooey Deschanel totally cute quirky actress thing? Uncles?

    • Anonymous

I would argue no, simply because I think she’s a level above that.  Imagine Parker Posey or Zoey Descahnel (both of whom I like) doing Elizabethan costume drama.

    • Anonymous

      Google! It’s helpful.

    • She’s more or less the next Keira Knightley, really.

  • Anonymous

Your scores are fair. I could bump her up a half point, but I’d like to see her hair pulled back so as to show off the neckline and sleeve features of the dress, and I think she needs a more interesting clutch.

  • Sara__B

Aw. They’re so attractive and happy and polished and pretty darned near perfect. And I love it when celebrities smile like they mean it!

  • Anonymous

You know, I hardly ever see her looking that happy when she’s on the red carpet by herself. Nice to see a genuinely happy Hollywood couple 🙂

  • Anonymous

I’d actually go so far as to give them a 9.5. I think her hair needs a little help, but otherwise perfect!

  • CQAussie

That is a fabulous dress in a gorgeous colour – I want!

  • It’s always the straight guys who do that “hand-in-pants-pocket” shit when they’re wearing a suit or blazer. If it’s a nice jacket and it fits well, putting one’s hand in one’s pant pocket ruins the look. Str8 guys out there-don’t do this, okay? Let people see the nice lines of the jacket.  You’ll look so much better.

  • Anonymous

Not too low. I’d have given her a lower score because of the hair. But yes, they are adorable.

Since we get to critique women’s make-up, is it fair to go after a guy’s skin?  I kept thinking he’d look perfect if he weren’t sweaty and blotchy.  I do believe their smiles are their best accessories, though – they look wonderful.

(My preferred approach would be to not expect perfection on a woman’s face, but the likelihood a non-Tilda on the red carpet sans make-up won’t get trashed is too much to expect…)

  • Now I am The Bee

Too charming  for words.  I was so exceited to hear they got together–just like Fergie and what’s-his-face–Josh, another hot couple.

  • Love them both!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Her hair is very odd. Her makeup is beautiful and so is her dress.  I like the matchy lipstick here.  Radiant and fabulous. He’s cute too.

  • Anonymous

I guess she’s not pregnant, then!

And so I make another little black mark in the Marchesa column… (cancelling out Rachel M’s earlier triumph).

  • Anonymous

I’d like to slap a sleeve on her bare shoulder and fix her hair…other than that, I think they look pretty darn good.  Her gown is a really great color on her and I like the neckline.  He’s too cute, and what a pleasure it is to see a man in clothes that fit.

  • I’d give her a 9 or a 9.5. I LOVE that dress. The hair is the only problem for me. Weird thing is – didn’t she wear something DIFFERENT to the Kennedy Center Honors? Second outfit? 2 parter event? Confused…

  • I glanced at the thumbnail, and thought it was Eva Green. And that is a very big compliment, Mrs. Blunt-Krasinksi.

Don’t like the hair-do, it seems like there’s a rule against pulling all of your back in Hollywood. (I want to see shoulders and necklines and collarbones!!!)  The darker brunette color, however, is divine. Him- yes, please.

  • Anonymous

If i didn’t love her so much I would totally hate her for stealing one of my secret Hollywood husbands.  I LOOOOOOVE him.  They both look great here and the open, natural smiles are what make it perfect.  Feel the love people, feel the love.

    • Anonymous

No, he’s MY secret Hollywood husband.

  • Anonymous

I’d like to see her hair in the “side loop chignon” that all the de la Renta models were sporting in your earlier post.  THAT would earn her an extra point for sure!

  • allisankelly

Love them to pieces! Both cute and charming…what more could a fangirl want? And I love how they don’t have a couple nickname, either. Do they?

  • That awkward moment when you forget there is anyone besides John Krasinski in a tux in these pictures…

  • She was a 9 out of 10, come on guys. I just adore that dress on her – chic as hell. The awards were being filmed for TV (and she performed or spoke or whatever) so if the dinner was after, that could explain her make-up.
He looks absolutely dashing. Why isn’t he a 10 out of 10?

  • Anonymous

She looks positively winsome in that first pic.
I like that the dress isn’t busy at the waist; the neckline is enough, but lately we’ve been seeing dresses busy both at neck and waist, which is too much.

  • Melissa Stewart

Its not her makeup that’s harsh, it’s the haircolor. Her makeup would look gorge with her normal red.

  • Anonymous

I hate the “one little sleeve on her dress.” Would have preferred two. Otherwise you’re heading into Julianne Moore territory.

  • Anonymous

Adorable is the word here. They look classy and happy. Slap.

Gotta say her wonky hair bugs just a little bit.

  • I feel like Emily deserved a 9 and John a 9.5, but that’s just me.

  • Anonymous

I LOVE her dress. But it’s too long and I do think she might have gone for a blingy earring. It’s the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors evening, for gosh sakes. Given those failings, 8.5 is fair.

I’ll go with your 9/10 for him on the theory that higher marks must be reserved for the truly exceptional: doing the traditional, expected thing darn near perfectly is unusual but not exceptional. (In other words, I’d admire him if I saw him, but feel no need to take/find a photo of him to share with others, later, so they could see what he’s wearing as well).

Your marks stand. (Did I mention how much I like her dress? Oh, o.k.)

  • Anonymous

This bitter kitten kinda hates them for being young, beautiful and happy.  Because I’m bitter.

But no disagreement with the scores!

  • Emily Blunt won my eternal devotion in The Devil Wears Prada. Maybe just a little slap….

  • Linde Hoff

Not in agreement….he’s not adorable — not even attractive.  I like her, though, but don’t think she’s out of the ballpark here.

  • Anonymous

    Who does his eyebrows?

  • Anonymous

If Mr. Leanne Rimes earned an 8 for the wrinkled arm suit, Emily should get something higher than 8.5 – at least a 9.

  • Anonymous

they’re a nice looking couple who don’t make me roll my eyes, cringe, squirm or feel the need to look away. that’s 10 points right there.

  • Anonymous

they’re a nice looking couple who don’t make me roll my eyes, cringe, squirm or feel the need to look away. that’s 10 points right there.

  • bloodshothalfblind

i love that dress on her.

  • MilaXX

Not gonna quibble about the scores, when I saw them my first thought was 8’s maybe nines. They look great. I wish she had gone for a more glowy face with that lip shade, but otherwise I think she looks great. He is restoring my faith in the male population to actually dress appropriately in a properly fitted suit.

  • Anonymous

10 to both from me, they look effortlessly sublime. J’adore her in that dress, the neckline is my favourite part. I think a belt would have also worked with her dress, but only also because it’s gorgeous as it is.

  • Anonymous

Love her, and it’s so freaking refreshing to see a cute guy with a close shave!

  • pee sunshine indeed.

  • Anonymous

i barely know who they are but it’s a wonderful dress even though it has but one shoulder & they both look nice & happy. i dunno, i would give them a 9.5, i think.

  • Rosa Li

I was an extra in It’s Complicated. John Krasinki’s smile is that brilliant and happy in person. Also he’s realllly tall.

    • Anonymous

      Lucky you!!

  • Anonymous

That dress is a stunner on her. Wish her hair was sleeker to better set off that ah-may-zing stuff going on around her collar bone.
    He’s adorable.

  • I like the neckline on the dress,  9/10 for both of them

  • Anonymous

I so disagree about the makeup. I think she looks prettier than I’ve ever seen her. I also think we would feel less suffocated (re: neckline) if she’d just put hubby on the other side, so we saw a little more skin. But then we couldn’t see the sleeve? I’m so glad this isn’t my job.

  • I wish we had a view from the side, because she certainly looked pregnant when she was featured here the other day.

  • Anonymous

I could just lap them up with a spoon?

  • Love that dress.  And you can see how much in love they are.  Great looking couple.

  • I love these two…so adorable! I would’ve given them a 9/10.

  • Anonymous

Perfection is over-rated. They look wonderful. Thanks for the pretty.

  • Anonymous

Emily has found her color!  I love this gown–including neckline and sleeve, and I think her makeup is just right.  He is just darling.

As for the scoring, if the Rimes/Whiplash trailer trash combo rates a 7, these two have to earn a 9.9. Maybe a 10.9.

  • Anonymous

I can’t slap them, both hands are busy shaking off the last few drops of sunshine.

  • Tamara Hogan

They somehow look…effortlessly flawless, like they just reached into their (stunningly well-stocked) closet, got dressed, and went to an event without mindf*cking it all to death – relaxed, touchable, yet utterly glam. Can’t you see them getting it on in the limo on the way back to the hotel? I can.

    Yes indeed, I can.

  • She would get a 10 from me. The makeup suits the dress, I think, and there is nothing harsh about her smile.

  • Anonymous

that dress and that color look just perfect on Emily Blunt! And the arm candy isn’t too shabby either.

  • Anonymous

She always looks like she has “problem hair” (fine and straight), in which case an updo is her friend. Look into it, Emily. That gown is keeper, though. 🙂

  • Anonymous

Points to her for wearing what looks to be a properly fitting and supportive bra.

  • Anonymous

I think you guys are nuts; they both look amazing.
My only complaint is with the side hair. Her body is slammin in that dress.

  • They look gorgeous. I LOVE that dress on Emily!

  • They look beautiful, 50% of it are their looks and their clothes, the other half is the happiness and love they radiate. Looking at them makes me smile. They deserve 10/10!

  • Anonymous

They’re so freakin’ cute, the pair of them. 🙂

  • Anonymous

I give them both a 10.  They are simply perfect!  And I want that dress.

  • Anonymous

I would give her a 10.5 if I could.  That is one of my favorite red carpet dresses of the year and she is wearing the shit out of it.

  • wait, they’re a thing?
