Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci

We GET IT, Lea.

Lea Michele in Emilio PucciLea Michele on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in Emilio Pucci.

Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci

Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci

You’re TOTALLY HOT. Your inability to go out in a dress that isn’t:

a) sheer,

b) uterus-length (see above), or

c) sternum-baring,

has ensured that lots of people are reminded of that.

At the rate she’s burning through the sexy-girl dresses she’ll be resorting to taping a couple of strips of fabric to her nipples to hit the red carpet for the 2015 Emmys.

It’s actually a pretty cute little holiday dress. But it’s definitely a “stand and pose” kinda dress. We don’t see how one can forget that a Tonight Show appearance is 95% seated, with the camera right at crotch level. Walking out, she looks great; sitting down, she looks supremely uncomfortable. Let this be a lesson to you, sweetie. You don’t always have to dress like a Prince backup singer, y’know.

Yes, add a few inches and that dress would have been perfect. I love the color on her. She really does have a great smile.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ADTPW2VQ7YB6EGTXQFGKPD5IS4 Amanda

The way she dresses, I don’t think anybody’s looking at the smile.

        • Anonymous

          It’s a smile in a fancy tunic.

        • http://twitter.com/NC_Meg Megan

I was looking at her smile because I was experience second hand embarrassment at how short the dress is and couldn’t look at it past my first glance.

        • Anonymous

I always notice her smile first, when she employs it.  At least lately we’ve seen more of it than the idiotic smolder look.

        • Anonymous

They’re looking at the vertical smile.

      • Anonymous

Add a few inches and Jay would not have gotten as good a view.

    • Kyle Crawford

I like the dress and think she looks fine. She is young and beautiful, NOW is the time to were the tiny little minis… but dont you think the whole look is too top heavy? Maybe a bolder shoe or… just a little less aqua net in the hair ?

    • foodycat

Just another couple of inches. Just so it is long enough that when she sits down she is actually sitting on some fabric. As it is that just looks unhygienic.

    • P M

      Prince back-up singer. Heh.

    • Sobaika Mirza

Unfortunately, SEXY FIERCE LEA doesn’t work on her. She looks like she’s trying way too hard all the time. Ease up, and people migh naturally come to the conclusion that she’s hot without having to worry about seeing her hoo-ha. When will she learn???

      • MilaXX

Couldn’t agree more. Being a try hard cancels out sexy/fierce/cute or whatever you are aiming for.

      • Anonymous

Do you always call her SEXY FIERCE LEA??

        • Sobaika Mirza

It’s what I imagine she repeats in her head when posing on the red carpet. “Sexy Lea. Fierce Lea.”

    • Anonymous

The dress is cute, but you do NOT wear a mini for an on-camera, full-body seated interview.  Good china and all that.

      • King Dex

I’m trying to remember the “good china” idiom. Do you remember how it goes?! You’re completely correct in your assessment of Miss Michele’s attire choice for the show. Her outfit went from mini-dress to blouse with the crossing of her legs. It is a cute dress though… for standing.

    • Mary McClelland

Yeah, It’s a great dress with about 3 inches added to it. At this rates she’s The Klum Jr.

I really hate seeing starlets in these teeny little dresses that turn into tunics the moment they sit down on DavidJayConanCraig’s couch. As you point out, it’s one thing when they make their entrances. They must feel so stupid the minute they sit down. How can they focus on the conversation when all their attention has to go toward keeping their legs clamped together?

      • Anonymous

Sadly, I don’t think they care if people see a little hoo-ha.  They get press if they do.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

They’re never going to show hoo-ha on late night talk shows anyway — they aren’t live shows.  And no network would miss that in editing because it’s a GIANT fine from the FCC.

          • Anonymous

I wasn’t referring to actual money shots (should have worded that more clearly).  Kim K showed her underpants on PR.

    • Anonymous

I don’t find her hot, not even lukewarm; just supremely irritating.  She does have nice legs — but so do a million other starlets.

      • Anonymous

This is what I find sad: that for a young or youngish woman to have a real career in Hollywood, a hot body is more important than talent. In some cases a hot body alone will do; in the case of someone like Lea Michele, talent isn’t good enough.

        • MilaXX

In fact sometimes the annoyance factor outweighs the talent factor.

          • Anonymous

Like I said, baby, hard core!

        • Anonymous

In the case of Lea, though I do realize that she is “talented,” I really despise the way she sings. So even if I didn’t find her personality so irritating, I’d still find her uninteresting.

I do not believe that anyone is forcing her to go gyno every chance she gets…Maybe talent isn’t always enough in Hollywood, but she’s had enough success that she doesn’t have to be so in-your-face “Look at ME!!!!!!” all the time….

          • Anonymous

I’m not a fan of her style of singing, either. But that’s just personal taste; I didn’t want it too seem like I was saying she’s not talented.

Anyway, I don’t think anyone is forcing her to “go gyno.” I think she’s living and working in a culture in which young women feel they have to be considered fuckable (which in Hollywood = skinny/hot/whatever) if they want to want to be considered castable.

            • Anonymous

Oh, I don’t disagree. And what’s more, it doesn’t just apply to women trying to make it on the Hollywood scene; we’ve come a long way, but not nearly far enough.

Anyway, Lea is there at the top of my 2012 list of People Who I Wish Would Go Away For a Good Long While. Maybe I’m just feeling holiday crotchety today, but I think it’s gonna be a long list…

            • Anonymous

              so what else is new?

            • Anonymous

I kind of agree and disagree at the same time.
Yes that is the ubercompetitive Hollywood culture (don’t get me started on that), but I think life has shown us that girls with real talent, who -even a propos- DON’T show their assets, become more appreciated by the public and last longer. So Lea should know she certainly does not need to do it; she actually damages her career by doing it.

      • Anonymous

        Ugh, supremely irritating, indeed.

    • Anonymous

Such a terrible styling mistake, and I feel like we’ve seen this exact dress on Lea recently with her Asos and Luca Luca dresses.  I feel like it’s time for Lea to get a different stylist because she seems to always wear the same 2 or 3 types of dresses.

    • Anonymous

She does have that Julia Roberts-type toothy smile which I find inexplicably appealing, but it doesn’t balance the, uh, shortcomings of this dress.  I love the colors, and thank God it has sleeves (micro minis and sleeveless don’t work at all save as a beach coverup), but it needs 3-4″ of length, so it hits mid-thigh, and it needs a different neckline.  I hate the little strip of fabric across her throat.  And I’m not sold on the overall lacy-ness of the fabric–she’s flirting with “granny’s tablecloth” territory.  I would have done something different with the hair, too, although I’m not sure what.  Maybe a half updo, if there is such a thing?  7/10.

    • Sanja Ramic

Yes Lea you’re hot, you know what else is hot? Common sense, for example ‘maybe I shouldn’t wear that really short dress because when I sit down the world will see my downstairs lady parts, lets go for that other one that’s a few inches longer instead’.

    • Anonymous

Part of me wishes I had worn micro-minis all the years I had great legs. The other part of me realizes I’d have looked like an idiot most of my life.

Pretty dress, great hair and makeup, but yeah, for a talk show appearance, this needs a few inches on it.

Leno should have made her use one of those paper toilet-seat covers when she sat down. It is THAT short.

    • Anonymous

She looks much older than she really is.

    • Judy_J

i choose D) all of the above.

sheer, uterus-length AND sternum-baring all in one – it’s the Triumvirate!

Who had to sit in that chair after our little friend?

    • Anonymous

I do like the dress, except agree with many others that a few or more inches of length would have really improved it.  The gyno short just screams desperately wanting for attention that personality, talent and character couldn’t provide.

    • Anonymous

She definitely has the legs for this dress and I admire her positive self-image, but she is arguably the most annoying person on TV.

great gams no question, hopefully she didn’t chafe her nether regions on the chair fabric tho….

    • MilaXX

I also hate the Jeniffer Aniston shoe with this dress.

It’s official:  I’m either a genius or totally off my rocker.  Saw on yahoo today that Jennifer Anniston is the hottest Hollywood babe EVER.  Anyone else see it?

        • Anonymous

I saw it and had a good chuckle.

        • Anonymous

Yeah, that made me spit up my coffee.  I think Jennifer Aniston is so cold.  She has only manufactured warmth and frankly, no depth.

        • MilaXX

saw it and laughed. She’s pretty , but really?

        • Anonymous

Maybe she just has the best paid, hardest working publicist.

          • Anonymous

That was my exact thought. What poor, unpaid intern at her agent’s office had to keep voting and clearing his cache on that web poll for hours?

          • Anonymous

No maybe about it (the publicist).

Even when she was younger and almost juicy (she’s always looked kind of dessicated to me) she looked too thin & bony (by nature or through hard work) & I didn’t & don’t think she’s EVER been, well, warm or cuddly enough to be hot. Pretty, yes. Cute, maybe. Hot, no.

Apparently, though, there are those who disagree.

        • Mary McClelland

WHAT is this girl possibly going to do in Hollywood post Glee? I assume the spinoff will be Kurt and Rachel – but beyond that when it flops? She can go back to broadway of course but who else could she play when she barely pulls off Barry?

    • Anonymous

I think she looks gorgeous, but you’re right – that dress is WAY too short.

    • Anonymous

Could her left leg be perched any higher over the right to avoid fat leg syndrome (oh, the shame)?  Grow up a little bit, Lea, and find a sexy but elegant style.

    • Anonymous

It’s not what you think, you guys! She just went shopping at the new VS Angels collection, and she’s really, really excited…wants you to know (verify) that she is supremely stylish all the way down to her undergarments!
If I was sitting like that I’d be so busy holding everything in place there’d be no oxygen left for talking. Or…breathing. So, she has my admiration for being able to multi-task.

    • Anonymous

I don’t watch Glee but I have a friend who is obsessed with the show and this girl is ubiquitous–you can’t escape her.  She is on this month’s issue of Allure or something and she is TRYING SO HARD to convince us she’s some sort of Barbara/Sophia/Gina hybrid.  It just doesn’t work and it more than reeks of desperation.  I know that she is considered talented (I don’t care for her singing or acting) and she should try to remember that.  There are some women who are born with a certain “something” that makes them sexy without trying.  She is not one of them.

    • Anonymous

In Hollywood, what matters is how fuckable you are.  And she has to keep reinforcing that because she’s most associated with the role of a tight-ass virgin and Hollywood has a very short memory.  She has to combat the Rachel Barry image every time she steps out.  Yes, it’s WAY too short and desperate.  But at least she doesn’t look like shit.

    • Anonymous

Hey TLo – maybe you should start a new category “Fashion Talk Show”.  Did you see the dress that Charlize Theron wore on Letterman?  Gorgeous.

      • Anonymous

I agree that would make a nice category. Just this week we had SJP on some early morning show in neon colored tights

      • Anonymous

        That dress was to die.

    • Anonymous

I know she’s not a tall girl, but this dress makes her look like she’s all head, hands and feet. Sure its sexy, in the most literal sense, but I don’t think it’s particularly flattering.

    • Anonymous

Love the dress. But if we’re gonna start calling out female stars for too short dresses we’ll be here for days.

I’m hoping this hooker look thing is shoved back soon. It’s gotten very boring.

    • Anonymous

I think that’s a really ugly, tacky dress.  And it would still be hiddy even if it had a couple of extra inches on bottom.  She always reeks of desperation and trying too hard.  Which is never, ever sexy.  She does have great legs, though.

    • http://www.facebook.com/winston.stone Winston Stone

      NICE lingerie, where’s the dress???

      OH….THAT’S the dress…
Actually, she’ll take her cue from the Jersey babe on the last season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and bust out some artfully-deployed electrical tape…

    • Anonymous

I saw the interview on TV.  Leah, herself, said that the dress was too short and that she regretted wearing it for the spot.  Lesson learned?  We shall see!

    • Anonymous

      Just Too Short. Otherwise cute.

    • bloodshothalfblind

if that dress was just 4-5 inches longer, it would have been a real knock-out.  like this, it looks like a slutty skating costume.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I know this may be a strange thought, but maybe she just likes this style of clothing?  I wear a lot of cleavage — not because I have to or because I’m trying to convince anyone of anything, but because I like it.

      • Anonymous

To an extent, I think she does. There were stories when Glee started that despite the roles they were playing, Dianna Agron is a really sweet, soft-spoken, flower-child kinda gal, whereas Lea’s a bit of a wild child. The stuff they wear in public certainly confirms that, for the most part.

    • http://jessieliz.wordpress.com/ Super Red

He hair and makeup look great, and when she actually smiles, she’s gorgeous. It’s when she’s trying to pull her best sexy face that she’s eyeroll-inducing.

It would really be great if young starlets would stop dressing like sluts. There. I said it. (I highly insulted a good friend once when I tried on a dress, and opted to put it back because I thought it looked too slutty… she loved it, and thus started the great slut fight. :P ) But seriously. Can we just end this trend and have starlets dress as though they have an ounce of self-respct?

      • Anonymous

Here here! I do not watch Glee, so I have no idea how talented Lea is, but I will assume she can sing. She is clearly a beautiful girl, but I her beauty and talent are overshadowed by her super annoying public persona.

And you are not alone in the great slut fight. I went Halloween shopping with my friend and went on a rant about how backwards and anti-feminist dressing like a whore for Halloween is, right before she revealed she was going as a Playboy Bunny. :-|

        • http://jessieliz.wordpress.com/ Super Red

Exactly! She does have a really incredible vocal talent, but she doesn’t come across well as a celebrity, in my opinion.

And ouch (and laughter) to the halloween story. If you want to dress like a slut, fine, dress like a slut. I don’t really care. But don’t be offended when people look at you like you’re a slut.
It’s more the, “Me?? I’m not a slut!! How dare people judge me on my clothing!” attidue that bothers me. Clothing is an extension of who we are, and is how we choose to present ourselves to the world. It’s not even being judged so much as it is making an impression, and I’d prefer to not make the impression that I’m desperate *coughleamichelecough*

        • Anonymous

Whore is not really a feminist word. Nor is judging women by how they dress someting feminists do. Go on a rant about the clothing if you like… just please don’t call it “feminist”.

          • Anonymous

That’s a really fair point, at least regarding the word whore. I take that much back. But when it is practically expected of young college girls to objectify themselves on Halloween while the guys don’t have that same standard…yeah, that isn’t what I would call gender equality. If she dressed that way simply because she wanted to, fine. But she complained that that’s how girls in her sorority have to dress to go to the frat parties.  I know most of my friends feel it’s the only way to get noticed at all. Though I do think there is something seriously wrong about the new standard of dressing in lingerie and calling it a costume, I probably should have included her sorority/frat scenario. I apologize.

    • http://twitter.com/Bookmanfilm Mike dobbins

      her head is ENORMOUS!

    • Anonymous

Sorry folks.  I love it.  She looks fabulous, and being a fifty-something I can look back and wish I had worn dresses like this when I could have, 25 years ago (although I am not sure they existed, but I digress). If not now, when? The Leah haters are going to think she appears desperate, and the Leah supporters are saying “go girl.”  I agree that the sitting is a little risky but 15 to30 year olds are always sitting in dresses that are too short.  They know how to do it.

      • Anonymous

they definitely existed twenty five years ago, this dress is an incredible 80s knockoff.

i tend to believe people should wear whatever they want; that said, this dress then & this dress now is just kind of yucky.

Another gyno-mini.  The world does not want to see your cooter, Leah.

I don’t watch Glee but I’ve heard her sing and yes she’s talented and pretty and has great hair.  But the public persona is so frakking annoying, I do wish The Grinch would haul her off to his cave on top of Mt. Crumpet for good measure.

    • Anonymous

I think you have to be a fan of Glee to see what others see in her.  It must be her personality or something that isn’t captured in photos.  I do not watch the show and I don’t see anything approaching hot in these pictures.  Not even luke warm.

      • Anonymous

He Glee character is always dressed like a sexy schoolgirl librarian so she’s trying to go less cute, more hot in real life. And consistently failing depending on who you ask.

      • http://twitter.com/saturnwings Alexis

I agree.  I don’t watch Glee, either, and know nothing about any of the girls (or guys on the show).  From pictures alone?  I always gets uncontrollably annoyed by Lea – she always looks like she’s looking down at the little people.  And her latest mag cover?  Blegh.  (And blegh on me for a subscription to Allure.  Damn Ulta!)

But Diana Agron?  She seems sweet … or something.  I want to watch her on my TV.  But dealing with Lea?  Nah.  Not worth it.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Aw.  I kinda feel bad for her now.  I’m just gonna be nice and assume it was a last minute find and she made the total rookie mistake of not trying it on sitting down.

Lea Michelle clearly likes dressing provocatively.  I’ve seen some old FB pics she posted of herself in her underwear. She has zero body shyness.  No one is forcing her to do anything.  This is not Hollywood pressure. This is her genuine personality.

prince backup singer circa 94, mayhaps. since he became a religious man, his backups are all modestly and tastefully dressed – and still as sexy and beautiful as always – but without showing much skin. he wouldn’t let this chick touch his stage in this kind of getup.

    • Anonymous

Honestly, I think she looks fabulous. Those legs are killer.

    • Anonymous

It seems like she dresses like she tries too hard to be sexy. It could be that she is trying to counter the high school, virginal, preppy image she has on Glee. In the show, the writers made the other actor’s make remarks about her no-hips and small breasts. Therefore she comes out in tight shirts she calls dresses and heels which looks like its screaming “Look at me! Look at me!” She’s a beautiful girl but I kinda wish she mixed it up a little.

I find it totally ironic that the first blog post in the “You read this you might like these” is your posting about Justin Theroux because all I can think of in these gyno-dresses is that she reminds me of Jennifer Aniston. These dresses seem to, to me at least, add years/decades to her and not in a good way. Kinda smacks of desperation to me. She’s trying too hard to sprint from her character in Glee that she really doesn’t have any character of her own.

Well–the dress is cute and thankfully she’s not wearing big clunky shoes like the ones Miss Breslin was wearing, but still.  So short.  And then she crosses her legs while in the chair!  IDK–I wore very short skirts in the 60s, but it seemed like we’d at least try to be a little modest.
