In or Out: Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

Posted on December 16, 2011

Hi Sandy. We missed you.

Sandra Bullock in Stella McCartneySandra Bullock attends the premiere of “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” in NYC in Alexander McQueen.

Sandra Bullock in Stella McCartney

Sandra Bullock in Stella McCartney

It was a very late night for a couple of groggy, bleary-eyed bloggers, so let’s get right to it.

We always prick up our ears (so to speak) whenever a ladystar shows up on the RC in ladypants. Done right, it can be as head-turning as any gown. Unfortunately, it’s rarely done right, but hope remains every time someone tries it that this time, the world will realize that formal ladypants are the bee’s knees.

Except for the fact that her feet have been swallowed, we like the shape here. The strong shoulders, slight flare on the jacket, and straight, wide-legged pants are extremely flattering and stylish. But… shiny fabric, Sandy? Has a shiny pantsuit really ever worked on anyone? Also, your hair is so pin-straight and rigid that we suspect you styled it with Elmer’s glue. Why are so many ladystars so desperately afraid of showing a little bounce and curl to their hair? The single-digit bodyfat, lightbulb-white teeth and stick-straight hair on the average starlet today is making them all look less and less human every time they step out.

And on that cheery note…

Vote Now!

IN! That lady is rocking those ladypants, ladies!

OUT! Disco realtor.

Leelee Sobieski’s M appeal was given a loud and hearty “IN!” by the kittens yesterday.

In. Sandy is always fab. I’m surprised you even have to ask.

    • Anonymous

      DISCO REALTOR! Out,out,out.

      • Anonymous

        Disco Realtor!! IN IN IN!

        • Anonymous

          Haha–
          Chacun à son gout!

    • http://twitter.com/sarcasmcupcakes Hannah F.

Mmm.. disco realtor. That said, LOVE the hair/makeup.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Also not loving the shiny here. And I’m a man who loves the shiny.  Another color?  Matte finish textile? And I’m not loving the fit at the waist.  It looks oddly bunched, probably because of that totally amazing cincher belt (which she also totally does NOT need).  I would have loved this perhaps in a deep blue serge with that black belt.  And hem them pants a trifle. Out.

      Okay boys SPILL about Downton.

      • Anonymous

Is it just me or does she have a “Priscilla Presely” thing going on but without the bad facial surgery?  The hair, the shiny all black…..

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sliding into “trying too hard” land.

        • Anonymous

I actually think she’s coming dangerously close to the bad facial surgery thing. She needs to stop before she ends up looking like every other bad face in Hollywood.

    • Sobaika Mirza

IN but barely. I hate the shiny fabric and that undershirt makes it look like she has hairy blonde boobs.

      • Anonymous

really, what is that stuff?  looks like she has cellophane gift wrap stuffed in her cleavage.  couldn’t find a trash can, sandy?

    • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

Hem the pants, ditch the ombre color, and put some body in that hair. Only then will Sandy be an IN for me.

But I like her too much to declare her OUT. Let’s call it CLOSE.

    • Anonymous

In spite of the too shiny, too straight, too long, and too matchy, she looks really good, so a very reluctant In.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1214755227 Meira Niibori

My thoughts exactly.  A lot of “too”s, but still I’m coming down on the side of IN.

    • Anonymous

I’m kind of IN.  She does need a hem but her makeup is beautiful.  She looks classy to me.  I also really appreciate the stars who smile on the RC and don’t pose.

    • http://bitchinwivesclub.com/ Amy @ Bitchin’ Wives Club

In! I’m not a huge fan of the Satin, but this is way better than I expected it to look.

    • Anonymous

      In.  But iffy!

    • Anonymous

The belt combined with that jacket is (a little) worse than the shiny fabric.  In that last picture it makes her look like she has a gut

    • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

I think the belt is a bit clunky, but IN!

    • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986 Judy S

Awful shiny material (what were people saying on another post re. McCartney?) that would not flatter anyone, but she looks so beautiful that she gets an IN anyway. At least she does not look like a starlet.

    • MilaXX

IN Ir’s not earth shattering, but the satin isn’t a wrinkled mess.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

OUT. I hate that hair, she’s not Jennifer Aniston.  Can the stick straight hair be on its way out now?  And if us mere mortals can afford to get our pants hemmed, so can she.   That being said, I’m glad she’s back out making the rounds. I adore her, and have missed her.

    • foodycat

OUT. Fucking McCartney. WHY DOES SHE HATE WOMEN SO? I’m not hating the Ali McGraw hair on Sandy though.

      • Anonymous

I do seem to recall that I’ve liked someone in McCartney in the past several months. Once. Out of the how many times someone’s been shown in McCartney in those same months? Surely a couple of dozen. I remember it because it surprised me so.

Why do these women keep wearing her? Would they do so if they bought the clothes? Do her clothes feel really comfy?      Why do I care?

        • foodycat

          All Beatles fans and vegans?

    • Anonymous

OUT.  I want to like it, but the shiny is all I can see.  Also, she has Gwyneth’s hair from the 90s.

    • R. L.

No, this was a miss.  I love her and I want her to look great so I am sad.

    • Anonymous

OUT. Yet another ugly ill-fitting Stella McCartney outfit.

Did you get to meet Brendan Coyle last night? I have had a serious crush on him forever.

    • Julie Fountain

I immediately thought of an episode of HIMYM where Neil Patrick Harris’s character wears a pajama-suit.  Looked a lot like this. Out!

    • http://www.facebook.com/charlotte.horseman Charlotte Horseman

IN – but for everything except the pants (or the belt).  Haven’t seen her on the RC in a while, so there was a chance she’d be off her game like Meryl and a few others we’ve been seeing lately.  But, she looks fantastic – I don’t think she abuses the straight hair look, and I like the extra length on her.  The jacket looks cool.  But the pants are odd and together, I guess it IS too shiny.

    • Terence Ng

Out. Would have been in if the shiny material didn’t highlight some of the ill-fitted aspects of it.

    • Anonymous

Love the suit. However my hair is naturally the way she’s forced hers to be, and I’d give my eyeteeth if mine held a little pouf and wave. Girl doesn’t appreciate her assets.

      • Anonymous

As someone who was born with god awful Shirley Temple ringlet hair, I can honestly say I would give my eyeteeth for your hair.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Will it hold a perm?  Because I’ve had mine wave permed before to get more volume in at the roots because it’s really thick and heavy.

        • Anonymous

My stylist has advised me—and he’s always right—that I’d either have to go full-tilt tight curls or forget the perm altogether. Otherwise, the hair is too fine to hold a light body perm.

And I’ve personally made matters worse by growing my hair out from a fairly manageable Kwan bob to back-of bra length, which makes is weight out any body or waves I can get into it. Had to do it, though, as I do a lot of theater, and it’s easier to work with my own hair than to wear wigs and pieces.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Yeah, I have a friend who can’t perm hers either because it just won’t stay — where mine goes flat for the exact opposite reason, so it works.  I have to be careful when trying to get curl or body into it because it goes flat very easily naturally, but it grabs curl SO WELL that it goes overboard.  Curlers for instance, are a no go, because instead of ringlets I get pincurls… with the pins still in.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Oh dear. Why did it have to be shiny? OUT.

    • http://www.what-the-frock.com Dana WhatTheFrock

SO close, Sandy. If it wasn’t shiny, this would be an IN.

    • Anonymous

OUT – hate the shiny material, the too long pants, the nude lacy camisole and her hair – that stick straight style seems very dated for 2011/2012.

    • Anonymous

Yay ladypants on the RC! In. Hate the hair and belt, but the overall look is good.

    • Susana Reyes

      In. She looks great!

    • Anonymous

She is giving FACE, total IN on that alone. I do wish the pants were a skoosh shorter and everything slightly less shiny, but overall she looks fantastic

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

In, but I think the pantsuit is trying to swallow her up. Pants are way overlong, and the jacket belt looks like it isn’t hitting her right. But still – it’s Sandra!

    • Anonymous

      In.

    • Anonymous

Out. So close, love the belt, love her. But having to look that hard to see whether or not she had a blouse on (and still not certain) added to the boring hair and the poor pant length makes this a lowercase out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000191450408 Cachie Llanes

SHE’S IN MCQUEEN BITCHES. IN ALL THE WAAAAAY.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001637020912 Zula Khramov

I think that length of the pants is ok, being that wide you can’t have them shorter then floor length. But jacket’s sleeves swallow her hands and that’s not good. I like shiny fabric in the sense of replacing leather look which makes her look masculine but balanced with prettiness of the face, and I think that sleek hair works for that look. So…I vote her in.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000191450408 Cachie Llanes

She’s wearing mcqueen you stupid bitches. do your research. btw, I vote IN.

      • Anonymous

You need a comma before “you stupid bitches,” you stupid bitch.  Learn to write.

By saying this, I’m raising the question of why you have to be so nasty in your post.  Everyone makes the occasional mistake, and just pointing out the error is sufficient.

    • Anonymous

in this get-up, sandy’s like meryl from the other day: SHE is in, the outfit? OUT! sad, sad, sad. (and shiny.)

    • Anonymous

Aaaak!  Anorexic hair, something that has bugged me since it first showed up on the red carpet, talk shows, sit-coms, etc. Then shiny material and THEN…..too long pants!  OUT to the max.

    • Anonymous

Close, but out for the shine and the length of the pants and the ultra-straightness of the hair.

    • Anonymous

Stella McCartney must have all sorts of info on people…cause I can’t imagine why people keep wearing her clothes.

However, Sandy is making it work.  Therefore she is IN

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1589131702 Jenna Gordon

in. she looks fantabulous! the hair could be a little less severe but i like the look.

    • Edwin Gutierrez

According to Alexander McQueens facebook, she is wearing McQueen here. Hmmm?

      https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=292975880745861&set=pu.158576650852452&type=1&theater

      • http://www.tomandorenzo.com Tom and Lorenzo

        Brain fart!

        Fixed it. Thanks.

    • Anonymous

In. Shiny is bad, but the shape is great. I think the hair is fun on her after years and years of the same ol’ hair. Also, the strong lip after many nude face RC looks is faboo.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I don’t understand why stars seem to feel that they MUST FOLLOW EVERY TREND.  If it doesn’t suit you, don’t do it!  Isn’t that what the cultural revolution of the 60’s was really about?  Freedom to wear the hair that looks good on YOU, rather than what was fashionable.

For instance, Sandy, I don’t wear my hair that way — ever.  Because it makes my already long face look even longer and my not-tiny head look even bigger and my somewhat oversized features seem vastly out of proportion.  You might want to consider the fact that the things I just listed tend to be what makes one work well for film, which means it’s not really the hair for you either.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Claudia-Gilbert/875055316 Claudia Gilbert

I agree the pants are too long; but I like the look!  And I normally don’t like flat hair, but her’s doesn’t look flat and lifeless, at least. Also, I like the shade on her lips.  All in all, its an IN!

    • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

I want to let it go, she’s so cute here and her make-up is well done and everything. But I have this irrational hate for shoulder pads. OUT

    • nancy

In, because it’s Sandy, and she is forgiven for disco realtor ladypants.

    • Anonymous

That belt is horrible. And a shiny, feet-swallowing suit? Celine Dion called, she wants her 1997 career back. OUT.

    • http://frockpaperscissors.blogspot.com/ kvlm

In. Though I think the front closure on that jacket kills her waist a bit.

    • Meghan Caslin

Out! That lace “shirt” looks like she has a skin disease.

    • http://profiles.google.com/katelynsypher Katie Sypher

Hmm. The jacket is fierce, her face looks a-MAY-zing, and I love the ring. On the other hand, the pants are ungainly, and the iron job makes her hair look stringy at the ends. (Not even talking about the shiny.)

Overall, a good effort with mid-level successes. That’s an IN.

    • Mary McClelland

OUT. Trying too hard. Out dated hair. Shiny, wrinkled, ill-fitting. It’s just so out it’s shameful.

    • Anonymous

I normally don’t comment on these, but I have to give this a vociferous OUT for the fact that there seems to be some sort of illusion netting/undershirt that makes her look like she has leprosy between her boobs. Or–oh good god–is that her actual skin? Either way, it’s REALLY disturbing me.

    • Anonymous

      Out.

The pants are too long, the jacket is too short, the shoulders are too ’80s, and the material is too shiny.  And she should have gone for a pop of color in the blouse, rather than that lace (?) that’s exactly the same color as her skin.

    • Amanda Royston

Eeek! OUT…shiny pantsuits don’t ever work.

    • http://profiles.google.com/katherinempg Katherine Pisarro-Grant

Out. The shininess and the hair and the swallowed feet make her look ridiculous. Plus, the fact that this book was made into a cheesy movie starring Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks makes me sad.

    • Anonymous

I’m giving her an IN simply because she looks a million times more comfortable in this than she does in the dresses she usually wears. Plus, Sandy doesn’t know how to stand in a dress; she poses like a lumberjack, so she’s ultimately better off in pants. I don’t love the hair either and she needed to hem those pants, but overall she looks pretty.

    • Anonymous

LOL!  “Disco realtor”   Too funny.  You’re right, but I’m still voting her IN, because even though everything you said is true, she looks GREAT!

    • http://twitter.com/susanpcollier Susan Collier

Too shiny. And she should donate her locks to Chris March’s hair clothes collections.

    • Anonymous

I can’t tell if she’s wearing a really nude shirt under the suit.  I hope so because that’s a lot of sternum if not.

      Also, shiny.  Out.

    • Anonymous

A very reluctant IN, mostly because she looks OK compared to how she usually looks.  But I hate her hair.  This is appropriate only if one is filming a Woodstock-era flick, or perhaps a biopic of Ali MacGraw.  Other than that, I give a huge Bronx cheer to her, Gwyneth, Jennifer Aniston, and every other woman over 25 who thinks she can bring off the center part, ironed flat, raggy ends look.

    • Anonymous

The pants are too long, the sleeves are too long, it just doesn’t fit well.  The belt looks like protection for heavy lifting.  Her hair is badly in need of a trim.  Face looks pretty.

    • Anonymous

OUT. But SO close to being an in…lose that awful fabric…and the flat iron, and this coulda been a contender.

    • Anonymous

Out.  “Disco realtor” nails it.  Too shiny, pants need a hem, hair too long and straight and the cami is unfortunate as well.

What’s really weird is her placement in front of the backdrop.  I’d step further away from it and the outsized eyes, fingers and nose, if I were her…..  Or is that a sly editorial comment?

    • Anonymous

      In!
Because she looks fab — despite the shiny. The best is really interesting.

    • Anonymous

OUT – I don’t like the shape of it on her, and her hair is way too flat. Don’t love the nude shell underneath either – makes the neckline look way to plunging.

    • Jennifer Coleman

Something about that jacket seems a little…off to me. Maybe it’s the relationship of the belt to the point where the jacket buttons and the almost skin color of the top, but it’s ever so slightly disturbing me. I agree on the hair – she’s veering into Demi Moore territory. But her makeup if great! IN minus.

    • http://profiles.google.com/dwight.lake Dwight Lake

Not a fan of the shiny but overall all a good look for her. Interesting belt too. In.

    • Anonymous

In. She’s done well with a difficult outfit.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Micaela-Cannon/1465504041 Micaela Cannon

Can we discuss how hilarious the ambre(sp?) effect is that she’s got going on in her hair? I’m sorry, but that makes it an immediate OUT for me. You wanna rock an interesting/weird/crazy hair color? Go for it! I support pinks purples reds blues etc. But two “natural” colors on your head in a completely unnatural way? …Hideous.

    • Anonymous

I would give her an in if it weren’t for that back brace pretending to be a fashion accessory. Out.

I have been bemoaning the keratin-obsessed stylists who have been really basically forcing stick-straight blowouts and product on women for nearing five years now. I actually have tried to get stylists to use a diffuser for my natural kink instead and they absolutely just won’t do it. The salons must be getting a hefty fee from product for such slavish ridgity to it.

    • Anonymous

This (the shiny suit) is another one I suspect looks good in person, but not in photos. I like the hair, but that’s because stick straight is what I’ve always envied, but you do have a point.

    • Anonymous

is this really sandy bullock?  i wouldn’t have recognized her.  i think it’s the plucked and drawn on eyebrows and the apple cheeks.  seriously, she looks like someone else.  and not digging the look overall.  sorry, out.

    • Anonymous

OUT.  Not only is the suit shiny, but the jacket is pulling and wrinkling in all kinds of weird ways.  And the blouse she has on underneath it is such a perfect match for her skin tone that originally I thought she didn’t have one on — which actually would have looked better than whatever this thing was.  Add to that the limp, shaggy hair with the straight center part (since when has the “untrimmed for 5 years so I have a million split ends for your enjoyment” look come back into fashion? I had that hair in the ’60s, and it looked pretty awful then, too!) and the swallowed-up feet and the whole thing just falls apart.

It’s a shame.  She’s a beautiful woman, but in this outfit she just looks like a mess.

    • Anonymous

As someone who has lived many, many years with hair that will absolutely, under NO circumstances, hold a curl I can easily give her a pass for the straight hair.  I reached a point in my life where  I just said The Hell With It and now wear it straight. My life is much less stressful and angst free.

    • Anonymous

IN.  She needs those pants hemmed, and I actually like the hair.  But IN for the silhouette.

    • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

She looks rather good here – not loving the shiney or the beige camisole, but otherwise love the look overall.  Sum greater than the parts perhaps? In.

    • Anonymous

I want to vote In because I like the spirit of the outfit: the cut, the fit, etc. But then I don’t know if I can get past the too-long jacket cuffs and pants and the wrinkling. The weightlifter’s belt would be cuter with a dress, but I like the cinched-in look it gives the outfit.

I’ll say Out, but just barely.

    • Anonymous

my inner magpie typically digs the shiny, but this is just too much… tho we cant really see them here you know the pants have those horrid crotch creases that happen when satin has to sit…i like her makeup and hair (albeit stick straight)  so those get an in, but shiny pantsuit gets an OUT

    • Anonymous

So close.  If we were grading on a curve, she’d be in.  But I’m not, so out.

    • http://twitter.com/RobertSanchez36 Robert Sanchez

In. She looks really terrific. One shoe is peeking out there, so the pants aren’t entirely too long.

    • Anonymous

IN. It’s not perfect, but it gets a pass.

Also, as a lady with naturally thin/fine hair (not stick straight, though) I don’t know why women want to make their hair look flat on purpose. I’d love some volume.

      • Anonymous

Mine is both thin/fine and stick-straight. Even when I can force some volume into it, it doesn’t last more than a few hours, if that long.

    • Anonymous

Out, but so close to in. The shine and hem length killed it.

    • Anonymous

My heart’s on my sleeve–I love her!  Hate the satin, love the silhouette, and I think her hair and makeup look pretty.  Whenever I see her without center-parted straight hair, I’m not quite sure it’s actually her. A lower-case in from me.

    • Anonymous

IN but by a nose. A shiny nose.

    • Anonymous

Oh, I think she looks gorgeous.  Love her hair and makeup.  I could have done without the shininess of the outfit, but overall, I like it.  So in

    • Anonymous

I say she’s in, but just barely.  I don’t like the shiney-ness of the suit, but I think people think they can get away with such things during the holiday season.  Totally agree on the hair, it was actually the first thing I noticed about her–how straight and sad her hair looked.  It almost takes away from the look.  Don’t be afraid to let your hair have some body!

    • Anonymous

Giving her an IN because while I don’t like the outfit on her, she looks beautiful.  I also like the eye behind her head in the second photo.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1129137319 Paula Pertile

haha Disco Realtor haha … and one with some kind of saddle strapped around her waist. I like her too much to give her an out though. Maybe she can start selling fancy real estate to glam horsey folks in between films, or something.

    • Anonymous

She’s always IN. And I love her hair, too.

    • Anonymous

In, I think she looks wonderful and I like her hair styled this way.

    • bloodshothalfblind

OUT this could have been so great, but it just misses in the styling.  the long pin-straight hair, combined with the deep V neckline & the too-long pants…  it just drags her whole body down.  that, plus the wrinkly shiny fabric of the suit – she just looks a mess.  this should have been sleek and clean, but it just so is not.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I’m probably not best qualified to answer, as I don’t share your fondness for lady-pants (possibly just a personal annoyance, as there is no such thing as a pair of pants that looks good on my stumpy little legs, but I can’t separate), but… come on.  Shiny material, too long, Elmer’s glue styled hair?  That wouldn’t pass in a disco parlor any more than on a red carpet.

    • Anonymous

She must have a holiday job at UPS loading trucks.  Otherwise, I am not sure about the belt.  I agree about  the hair.  Who knew that Morticia Adams was style icon?

    • Anonymous

IN. Yeah, the shine is not her friend, but she looks so much more comfortable than usual on the red carpet that this really seems to work for her.

    • Linde Hoff

“In” as far as I’m concerned….she looks great!

    • Anonymous

IN, because she looks like she will take absolutely no shit in this look.  She looks confident and sexy.

I will be glad when the tree-trunk-disappearing-feet trend is over.  It’s just not flattering on anyone.

    • Sara__B

Plus: Great makeup, an actual smile, lady parts covered. Minus: Shiny fabric, slacks are too long, unflattering waist treatment, hair over-straightened. But she’s greater than the sum of these parts, so I’m giving her an IN. This lady is on my Irrational Celebrity Like List.

    • Anonymous

In.  Because despite the shiny fabric and the hair that all of us are over, she looks great.  A woman who can look that terrific in that fabric and dated hair deserves an In.

    • Anonymous

I loves me some Sandy so I am inclined for an (unenthuasiastic) IN.  It’s a little weird though, with that hair, the all black pant suit, she is giving an almost Priscilla Presely vibe.  Without the unfortunate facial diasaster.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=49702581 Susan Bullard Mayer

I like the stick-straight hair.  But the suit is an OUT.

    • CQAussie

Oh boy….not a great suit and that belt is very odd….I gotta give this an OUT.  She could look so much prettier, softer and less robotic.  Plus I really really hate the super long pants.

    • Anonymous

I just love her and thus will not pass judgement. But McQueen has been showing quite the range recently.

    • Anonymous

Oh, god, so close. I’m not sure about the belt, it looks like a medical supportive device. And the pants are almost perfect, but as you say, too long. Jacket is cute, but sleeves are too long, and it doesn’t fit in shoulder/underarm area. And does she have something in the opening there? Something light and guazy and flesh colored? Hard to tell, but it doesn’t lool like bared cleavage. Kudos to her for covering that, if she is, but more of a statement would have been better. Love her, love the effort, but have to give it an out.

IN, for the hair and the makeup and the overall silhouette. As for the shiny and the undershirty thing and the pants length, minor details. She looks pretty fierce.

    • Anonymous

IN, tho I wish the fabric were not shiny and her pants were a bit better hemmed. I think her hair looks gorge and the silhouette, color and even that flesh-colored lacy cami thing are all working.  She looks fab.

    • Call me Bee

Sandra looks nice here.  Even though I’m not crazy about the shiny fabric, the suit is well cut and fitted.  Do not like pants with platform sandals–this is what happens.  Feet disappear.
I must say, though, she is a wee bit old for this hair.  Even though makeup is pretty, all-in-all I say OUT.  Sorry, Sandy–I still love you, though.

      Ladystars in Ladypants!

There are some issues here, but it seems the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. I don’t usually like shiny, but I think she’s pulling it off. The pants are a tad too long, but I can live with that. I don’t want to see her in pin straight, flat-ironed-to-death hair all the time, but it works with what she’s wearing. Maybe it’s just because it’s Sandra Bullock, but I’m giving her an IN.

    • Anonymous

I’m not understanding the all the hate on her hairstyle. It’s better than the sloppy gym hair we’ve been seeing as of late. To me it shows that she put some effort in and had it professionally done. Girlfriend deserves a little pampering!

    • Anonymous

I was about to say in even though the styling could have been better, but the more I look at it, the straight hair , the shiny fabric and the weird fit of the jacket push it into out.

    • Jessica Goldstein

Harsh hair, too much shiny, and swallowed feet. OUT.

No. The shoulders make her features look harsh. I don’t like the fit on her hips, either.

OUT. She looks uncomfortable, and everything is bunching or pulling everywhere. And I hate how the top under the jacket disappears into her skin; it ends up looking like her chest is peeling.

OUT…sadly.  I just do NOT like that jacket.  Sandra’s hair would look better with some body, and her makeup is kinda harsh.  Still LUV her tho.

I do like the shape of this pantsuit, but the shiny fabric makes it look cheap. Not a fan of the flat, stick-straight hair, either. OUT.

That has got to be one of the most boring McQueen outfits ever.  I don’t care for it much, particularly the shiny and the pants, I’m just shocked that it’s so uninspired.  Sarah Burton, you’re capable of *so* much more!  Kudos for the ladypants (hee) and the styling, so I remain neutral and cede my vote to the mandate of the Kitten Nation.

In. She basically looks fabulous. Bordering on fierce. I love the deployment of the lacy camisole (or is it part of the jacket) which strikes the right balance between sexy and covered. The pants are a teensy bit long but it if anyone is thin enough to rock a shiny pantsuit it’s Sandy B.

Yeah, it’s a bit shiny, which I think is making it looked more wrinkly than it is. I love her, and that she went edgy. I’m going to give it an IN.

    • Anonymous

Either way I call it’s a hair’s breadth away from falling on the other side of the fence. I want to call her in for her & the pantsuit. I want to call her out for the hair and her face & the shirt.

Like the pantsuit though it’s not perfectly fitted and I DON’T like the blend-in-to-her-skin shirt. But probably that shirt & the pantsuit fabric worked better in real life.

Hate the hair. It’s so straight it looks almost thin & why would you want that look? Millions of women would pay for something that would give them thicker hair with some body.  Plus, if you want stick straight hair, those raggy ends are too juvenile for a grown woman.

I must be the only one seeing this (so I must be imagining) as no one else has mentioned it, but what is up with her face? It looks like either too much botox or too much contouring (heavy hand with the highlighter) or SOMEthing.  From afar looks good but in the close photos she’s a little mannequin-like.

I just can’t call her in just because I like Bullock & strongly support pantsuits, especially for women long-legged enough for them. (Mrs. Clinton and I are both on the questionable side of the line)

So she’s got to be out. It’s killing me.

    • Anonymous

Out. Not this pantsuit.  Bad fabric, bad fit, bad length.  The shine in her hair is lovely, but the stick straight ends are not red carpet pretty or daring or fierce, just blah. She’s a beautiful woman and deserves better.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Stone/100001328135240 Mary Stone

no mention of the belt? it’s a really odd “dogbone” shape that I think is not doing the shape of the jacket any favors.  Probably works on a size 0 model who’s 5’9″, but I don’t think it’s working on Sandra, and the pants need hemming, I am leaning toward OUT

    • Anonymous

OUT.  The suit is far too shiny for anyone of “real” proportions to pull off, and also… is she wearing something under the jacket?  I can’t tell.  In some shots I’d say yes, but the ‘color’ is so close to her skin tone that I’m really, really not sure if she is, or if it is a trick of the light.  The out could be for that alone, honestly.

Though, props to her for having the guts to go with a pantsuit on the red carpet.  Too bad she chose the wrong fabric for it.

    • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

      I’m feeling checklist-y:
      – The make up is great.
      – The “ombre”d hair looks subtle and lovely.
      – But the stick straight middle part isn’t working.
      – The shirt could have had more contrast. A pop of color or even ivory would have looked fresh.
      – I actually don’t mind the vanishing feet thing, but maybe that’s just me.
      – Shiny fabric doesn’t bother me if it’s in black and the tailoring is impeccable, which it is to me.
      – But some bold jewelry would have been terrific.

    • Susan Crawford

I like the shape of the suit, but hate that shiny fabric. If this was in a wool crepe with a matte finish, it would have been stunning. Pants are uber-long, so she could have been wearing Keds for all we know. As the possessor of pin-straight hair who has spent a lifetime trying to get Sandra’s natural soft waves, I am definitely underwhelmed by the flatironed look! But actually, I like this look on her – she has the bone structure to carry it off. All in all, I have to give Sandy an IN – a truly gorgeous woman!!

    • vmcdanie

OUT. Maybe the pants aren’t really too tight and it’s just the shiny fabric but I believe I see looming camel toe.

The jacket is bulky and weird looking and the shell she’s wearing blends into her skin too well and makes her look topless. Do not like.

I don’t know what the story is on her hair but just in her defense, my hair is that straight without even trying. As much as I love the trend as it means no effort on my part, I miss individuality. Curls are beautiful. Why are they ironed unto death?

I’m glad to see Sandy again, and while the previously mentioned “Disco Relator” tag explains it all, I’m giving her a mild IN. The hair doesn’t bug me, but that hem does.

    • Anonymous

OUT.  Might work despite the shiny fabric after a trip to the tailor.  The jacket simply doesn’t fit right…the shoulders are too broad and the “belt” makes her tummy look like it has a bit of a bulge.  The pants are too long…I also might like them more if they weren’t as full since she looks hippy.  Having said that, I’m fine with her hair…it’s a different look than I’ve seen on her in the past few years.  I definitely don’t need any more Taylor Swift waves.  Her makeup is PERFECTION…in the long shot and the close-up!

I think she looks great. And while I’m normally not one to like pin straight hair, Sandy’s hair+makeup look gorgeous here. IN.

I can’t focus on the pantsuit beyond giving it an OUT because her face looks so puffy and different — really too bad.  Don’t care for the Paltrow hair on her either.  She looks frightening.  Satin pantsuits aren’t my thing and those definitely need to be hemmed.  Blah.

    • Anonymous

Love me some Sandy, but OUT.  Her clothes look simultaneously too big and too small. And she is getting a bit beyond the long dark stick straight demographic, forgive me for saying.  But her lovely face is well made up, and she does look relaxed.

Keep the jacket, but switch out those ill-fitting satin pajama bottoms with a nice pair of tailored tuxedo pants. Then we’d have an IN. And she shouldn’t wear her hair like that unless its Halloween and she’s going as Rachel Green circa 2003.
