In or Out: Paula Patton in Emilio Pucci

Posted on December 20, 2011

Someone needs to accompany this gal to the red carpet and, just before she’s ready to hit the step-and-repeat, take her by the shoulders, look her in the eyes, and say, “For god’s sake, calm down when you’re out there.”

Paula Patton attends the premiere of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in NYC in an Emilio Pucci dress paired with Anita Ko Jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Emilio Pucci Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Anabela Belikova

She’s all but jumping up and down in glee. We have no doubt if she was forced to spend any longer than 5 minutes posing, she’d resort to cartwheels to relieve the nervous energy. Honey, there’s enough going on with the dress. Just strike a pose, lock it down, and stand still, mkay?

The dress is just okay. The color scheme isn’t really to our liking – too pastel-y – and the fit in the bust is making our nipples weep in sympathy. The matchy-match shoes just make us weep. Makeup’s okay, but the hair looks like it’s got a ton of product in it. If we had to guess, we’d say a pro had no hand in putting this look together. Or she just ignores pros when they give her advice. Either way, we’re not loving this look at all.

Vote Now!

IN! She looks like she’s ready for a party!

OUT! She looks like she’s ALWAYS ready for a party.

Helen Mirren’s star-spangled tits failed to wow the Bitter Kittens, who voted the look OUT.

Awww. I think it’s nice to see someone wearing thousands of dollars worth of free clothing actually look happy about it. I don’t love the look but I think she carries it off — IN.

    • Sobaika Mirza

      Exsaaactly. IN for sheer exuberance.

      • J Dreesen

please tell me you were doing your best impression of Casanova.  because even if you weren’t, that’s where my brain went.

        • Sobaika Mirza

Of course, like a good minion.

    • Anonymous

I’ll give you that. Her attitude is the best thing about this look.

  • foodycat

Now, if it was Dolly Parton in that dress it would be IN. But she’s not, so it’s not.

    • I agree = this is NOT her dress, this is Dolly’s dress.

  • Anonymous

i like the dress and at least she isn’t all pouty and looking like she is miserable

me thinks you two need to get out, get some fresh air, shake of the crabbiness and start afresh!!!!

  • Anonymous

That dress does not not work with a larger chest.  It just screams “classy stripper”.

  • Anonymous

The hair is blech and it’s the wrong shoe, but the dress is kind of cute and I think she pulls it off. A happy lady in a happy dress. IN.

  • Anonymous

Good lord that woman has great legs. What the hell, I’m feeling some holiday good will. I’ll give her an In, even though everything about this look is one toe over the good-taste line.

Her over exuberance is actually selling the look for me.

  • Anonymous

    Too much ta-ta!

    • Anonymous

No such thing!  She’s sassy, smart, sexy and has a great big holiday smile on her face.  The ta-ta display is completely dazzle-icious and she is a big IN!  >tired of all the grouchy, slouchy, neutral-safe starlets<

  • Awww, cut her some slack guys- she has a pretty new baby at home, so the fact she’s in anything but sweatpants is awesome.

  • Anonymous

She looks fun and not totally over it, like most of them.  IN.

    • Anonymous

That’s why it’s an IN for me too!

  • I think it starts with the dress. I usually like Pucci but that dress is awful. It reminds me of an Easter egg. She put that on, and it was really downhill from there.

  • Anonymous

I like it–a definite IN because she looks happy and not sulky as so many of the RC citizens do.

  • I like the shoes and the fun pastel-y dress; not so much with the boob squash.  She does look like she’s making fun of people who do red carpets by being embarrassingly OTT, though.

  • Anonymous

She looks fun and bubbly – she’ll start posing like she needs to pee and staring dramatically at the cameras soon enough.  The fact that she’s selling the dress far better than the model gives her an IN!

  • Anonymous

IN. I like this outfit a lot. I love the dress although I do agree, the boobs are squeezed way too hard. I’m OK with the shoes. Black would have been too dark and blah. Silly putty color might have worked.

  • She looks like she’s having fun and enjoying the shit out of that thing.  Let her have her fun.  IN.

  • Anonymous

I love the dress but hate the fit at the bust, very unflattering.  Her hair is ugly.

    • Anonymous

A center part is almost no one’s friend.

  • I think the shoes kinda destroy the look, while I don’t really like the dress colors it might have worked with simple black shoes, the purple shoes kinda making the look a bit too colorful and clowny

  • Anonymous

I like the dress and she looks good in it – IN- other than the fact that it looks painfully too small at her breasts.
I don’t mind her shoes and think her hair looks pretty -even if there might be too much product.

    • Anonymous

      My thoughts exactly!  IN.

      • Yup.  If she’s a nursing mommy I’ll excuse the tight fit up top.  The fun nature of the dress and her sheer exuberance overcome the negative points. In.

  • Anonymous

In, even if I don’t personally like the dress. ‘Tis the season to be jolly and it’s nice to see someone be just that.

  • Anonymous

Ugh, no. Out. That is hideous.

  • Rebecca Johnson

I agree with some earlier Kittens. She looks happy and healthy, and that goes a long way toward redeeming a flawed look. Combine that with a fun, unusual dress and I give her a IN.

  • Stephen Bornstein

Give the girl a break…this is her first “big” movie. and she’s married to Robin Thicke, maybe she’s glad to get away.

  • Anonymous

I love the color scheme, but I don’t love the patchy-ness, and “up a size” as coined for a reason. But, she looks cute, and happy, and pretty, so it’s an IN with room for improvement.

  • She is a bit exuberant, but I would be as well if I got to wear that dress for free!!  She looks good, fresh & fun – IN!

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

The dress reminds me of the description of a Monet in Clueless: from far away it looks OK but up close it’s a big old mess!

  • Anonymous

In the words of Liz Lemon: “Blerg.”

  • Anonymous

In! she looks like she’s having fun, and the fit looks great

  • Hair, no, but I have to disagree about the dress.  She’s got the personality to pull it off and to shake me out of usual RC ennui.  IN!

  • padma sallah

Actually her being all excited is cute. The squished in bust looks and feels painful though. But still, got to give it up for a lady who actually looks ridiculously happy to be there. IN

  • Anonymous

IN…mostly because she’s just soooo happy!

An ok dress I guess (I also dislike pastels)…this suits her seemingly sweet & bubbly personality, however nauseating it may be..;)  She’s really working the shit out of it (note all the fringe flippery)…so points for that.   Hate the shoe color.  Hair…egads!

  • Anonymous

Gorgeous girl.  The top of the dress makes her shoulders look too wide and a bit too boobalicious, the whole thing is too tight and hairy.  But I like the pretty colors and her happiness is, while a little cray cray, sweet.  I abstain.

  • holy suffocating boobs, batman!

  • I think the color scheme is too Easter/7 years old, but the Fug Girls suggested that it would have worked in maybe different metallic neutrals and I agree. Other than the tight boob cut, I think the dress suits her but is just too jelly-beany. Like she stole it from Katy Perry’s closet. And comb that hair, gawd!

  • Terence Ng

I wish she kept the fringe. Her dress looks plucked. Badly. OUT.

  • Oh….it is almost an in, but for overall effect I’m going with OUT.  Its obvioulsy too tight across the chest, and I’m sure in other areas of the dress, that you just can’t tell because its so busy. I actually like the dress, print and colors, but I hate the feathers or whatever that shittery is hanging off of it.  Paula has a right to be gleeful, she’s married to Robin Thicke.  Pretty sure that is what I would look like in my pajamas if I got to wake up to that man every day. Just sayin.

  • The sizing in the bust is ridiculous, and almost enough to turn it into an out.  But the dress is fun and unusual and has a great color.  IN!!!

  • Anonymous

Her girls are making mine wince in sympathy. OUT.

  • In.  She’s working it.

  • But she didn’t do a cartwheel, so …IN

  • Anonymous

If my breasts could weep, they would.  Ouch.

  • The Fug Girls suggested that it would have been pretty in neutral metallics, and I agree–especially if she still kept the magenta shoes.

  • Anonymous

Still out, as she has been for the entire movie tour.  But closer to In.  The fit in the chest is what really wrecks it for me, as there’s really no need to do that to anyone’s boobs.  And especially not in this dress.  It is fun and she looks like she’s having fun in it.  But it’s just that much “Fun!” that adding “Push up BOOBIES!” to the sentence pushes it over the top.

  • Rebecca Zmarzly

In. Not crazy about the hair and yes, my bosoms are heaving in sympathy with hers, but overall, I like the dress and matchy shoes. It’s a fun, flirty look, and she looks like she’s having a blast.

  • Anonymous

I like it on the model.  I think these colors just don’t suit her.  And yes, a bit snug-the girls look squashed.  She has way too much blush on.  I don’t mind the matchy shoes…black would be boring, but I do agree there’s enough going with the dress.

  • Laura Nugent

I don’t mind the posing so much as the hair and the pastel and the feathers!  I think this just isn’t her dress — OUT.

  • Anonymous

I am not loving it either.  The coloring is all wrong for her.  It worked better on the pale blond model

  • R. L.

I don’t like this on her.  It’s a great dress though.

  • Rand Ortega

She looks so upbeat & happy. I can’t give her an out. She’s looking a little generic, but IN for attitude.

  • Anonymous

Her happy smile and exuberance get her an IN from me.

(The girls do look uncomfortable, though.)

  • Susana Reyes

OUT. Hate the fringe. Might have voted her In otherwise.

  • Ouch. That dress is WAY too tight. But at the same time – she looks really cute! I like it. IN!

  • Anonymous

It’s a fun dress on a fun girl for a fun event.  IN.

Honestly, it’s nice to see someone on the red carpet who actually looks happy to be there.

  • She’s a little hyper, for sure, but I like the effect overall. IN

  • Cheri Lee

Overall she looks great considering she probably put that look together herself. I doubt she has people. IN

  • Anonymous

In for the great smile and killer shoes. Can I kinda ignore the dress in between??

Teal shoes would be fun with this dress, but I love purple so I loved the shoes. Any excuse to wear purple shoes is a winner in my book.

  • Anonymous

Dear god, she looks like a half whacked piñata. Out!

  • Joey Melliza

someone please hit that Piñata already!

  • Anonymous

IN!  She looks good and perfect for the holiday season.

I like the Happy look.  She looks like a real person who really wants to be at the event she is attending.

  • Anonymous

she’s wearing J-Lo clothes but doesn’t have the diva fierceness. She is GORGEOUS tho.

  • Anonymous

    I’m in complete agreement, TLo.
In fact, I have a friend who adores pastels, and I swear this is the exact same print on her couch.
Also, the feathery things on the bottom of her dress. On the model, they look nice, but on her dress, they look crushed and sad. Dude, if you need a power nap before the event, do it BEFORE you put on the dress, not after. OUT

  • mmeeeehhhhhh out.

  • I say IN – I like the look and she obviously loves it!

  • Anonymous

oh man. how did she let her hair look that bad? that’s how mine looks after i hot roll it since i’m bad at doing my own hair.

  • She’s taking a page from The Blake Lively’s “Book of Sunny and Bubbly Posing And Therefore Becoming One Of the Most Important People In the Entire World”.

  • Anonymous

Sadly, I suspect she’s getting help. Unfortunately, whoever is doing this is probably the same person who uses “classy” a lot somewhere on a Real Housewives franchise.  TLo – give her some assistance.  She is a beautiful woman who can’t seem to stumble upon a decent outfit.

  • Anonymous

In. It’s fun and suits her. I love that shes got some life! And heck, after those robots Cruise and Holmes this is what the party needs!

  • Anonymous

IN.  I think she’s totally pulling if off.  I also love that she looks like she’s having fun and smiling.  A big change from the normal “bored now’ and O-face so many actresses wear on the RC.

  • Joyce VG

Cute dress but not on her. OUT.

  • Bridget Dierks

I think she looks delighted and a bit nervous.  It is refreshing realness.  IN!

  • Judy_J

I love this dress, just not on her.  But she does look like she’s having a ball, so I’ll say IN for the enthusiasm factor.

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

Except for the squashed-boobs thing, I think she looks great. IN from me.

  • Mary Alexander

I love her smile, but the dress looks like it’s unraveling. I’m expecting her to whirl around any second, sending a wave of beads at the photographers in slo-mo bullet time.

  • In! It’s nice to see someone enjoying themselves on the red carpet. The others all take themselves way to seriously. Plus I like the matchyness of the shoes.

    • MilaXX

I do too, especially since any color except black would be matchy with this dress.

  • There aren’t enough dollars in the world that would make me watch that movie. Just sayin’. Oh, the dress? Two hogs tusslin’ under a spangly crazy quilt.

    • MilaXX

It’s pretty good actually. It’s an action movie in the bigger, louder, faster vein. I enjoyed it.

      • I’ve had it with action movies that are edited with so many quick cuts that I can’t figure out what’s happening. Also, I break out in hives when I see Tom Cruise.

    • Anonymous

I am now going to use the word “tusslin’ ” in a sentence.   Love that.  xoxo

  • oohsparkley!

In.  She’s adorable!  The dress is too tight for the bust, but she still looks great.

  • Anonymous

IN.  She looks happy, and I think the dress is fun (if ill-fitting).  And snaps up for the the purple shoes…not enough of them on the RC.

  • It’s fun and eye catching. IN

  • MilaXX

IN – Paula likes color, this is pretty good for her. I also dig how bubbly she is all the time. She filmed this movie 5mths after giving birth and looked amazing in IMAX.

  • Anonymous

it’s very…best hooker dress for Easter Mass

    • Anonymous

Tht comment made me laugh out loud.  And even though it’s true, I have to say that I think this is a great party dress, and I love the purple shoes with it.

I would give it an in if two other factors weren’t involved:  She has ‘WAY too much blush on–she looks fevered; and, of course, the girls are being crushed in a most uncomfortable and unattractive way.

So, sadly, a little bitty out.

    • Anonymous

That is hilarious.  I gave her an “IN” but that is freaking hilarious.  Snarkykitten you made the night for me.

  • Linde Hoff

    Good grief.

  • Anonymous

Jeepers.  I had such high hopes for this one when she was in Precious.  OUT.

  • Anonymous

Why on earth do celebutettes do that to their boobs?  It’s not pretty.  For that alone I give her an OUT, whoever she is.

  • Anonymous

Stringy hair and clown cheeks are a no. The confetti dress is teetering on the brink of cheesy, in fact it may be just over the line. I do love the shoes though – purple is my favorite color and those are the prettiest shade of it. Still, the overall look is a bit too far into Tackytown. OUT.

  • Anonymous

In the words of La Nina: “short, tight and shiny are the quickest way to look cheap”

  • heh – her hair has a ton of product in it because one- it’s most likely actually her hair, two- black folks’ hair doesn’t do “that” naturally,  and three- more to the point-STAY like that without product lol.

I love the shoes (I love purple- fight me), but the flyaway things on that dress would drive me NUTS.

But she looks happy, which is the only expression you should have wearing a dress like this, so..IN.

  • Anonymous

great gams, but its’ just too much heavage of the cleavage for that dress…OUT

  • Anonymous

Despite the fit in the bust which also makes me wince in shared sympathy, I’m giving her an IN because she looks like she’s just happy to be there.  By God, someone actually SMILING on the red carpet and it is an actual honest-to-God GENUINE SMILE.

I also give her an in because she shares my name.

  • Great dress and shoes. But her red cheeks are too much. Maybe it’s a chilly day though, not a heavy hand with the makeup brush.

Just saw the movie and loved her in it. She’s very charming.

  • Anonymous

LOL that second picture is so “STOP! In the name of love!”

  • The girls are too smashy but she looks smashing! I love that dress. It’s fun and she looks fun and adorable. IN, ya crotchety old fools!

  • CQAussie

I love this look on her but can’t help but think she could have gone a half size up cuz her boobs are crying out for help.  Still though – a fabulous little dress and I’m digging the fringe-y bits.  I am not however digging her hair, fug.  It’s an IN overall.  Saved by the super fab shoes =D

  • Anonymous

    Not a good look. OUT

  • Anonymous

It’s cute and she looks happy. IN.

  • Anonymous

In, with a demerit for squashing her breasts.

  • Anonymous

This dress looks like if you pull one of the strings, thw whole thing will unravel like a ball of yarn. Her attitude and exuberence get an IN, but this outfit can only be OUT.

  • Sara__B

I’ve been going back and forth on this all morning. She’s hyper-happy, and I like that, but the dress is hyper-tight and not meant for above an A-cup. This would be a fun dress for a 20-something looking to have a really good time at a New Year’s Eve party, but not so much for a star at the NYC premier of her movie. OUT for this event. (In for New Year’s Eve.)

  • I mostly hate pastels, but I love this dress. She should have either gone with all the fringe or none of it.

I think her hair looks great, although I’d prefer a side part on her. The shoes are kickin’. The cleavage is ridiculous. But what’s important here is how happy she looks. That woman is having a blast. Either that or she’s the best actress in Hollywood. IN

  • I like it. I think it’s really flattering and I like the girlishness of it. IN.

  • o.u.t.

  • She’s happy and pretty, and it’s so nice to see someone really enjoying the RC. IN.

  • Is it me, or did someone take a pair of scissors to the fringe?

On the model, the fringe is definitely in thicker strips.  And while fringe is NEVER good, unless it’s on stripper-wear or country-wear, it looks like someone pulled a bunch of loose threads, on her.

    • leilah

Her fringe makes me think of Coolio’s braids….

  • Oh my Lord, the bitter kittens are unbitterin’ and giving THIS an in??? Im sorry but no one who doesn’t dance naked for a living should go out dressed like this, OUT!

  • Oh my Lord, the bitter kittens are unbitterin’ and giving THIS an in??? Im sorry but no one who doesn’t dance naked for a living should go out dressed like this, OUT!

  • What’s wrong with being gleeful on the runway? She’s having fun. She’s one of the co-stars in a huge movie. She just had a baby and her body is banging. Let her live in her moment. Do you want her to start pulling a Lea Michele? Exactly.

  • What’s wrong with being gleeful on the runway? She’s having fun. She’s one of the co-stars in a huge movie. She just had a baby and her body is banging. Let her live in her moment. Do you want her to start pulling a Lea Michele? Exactly.

    IN! Party! Like its 1999…..

  • Anonymous

Even though her boobs are begging for release, I think the look is fun and flirty.  IN.

  • Anonymous

OUT. Looks kind of like glittery, pastel patchwork with glitter strings. The fit in the chest, ouch. No.

  • Anonymous

I genuinely like the dress. Homegirl should have gone up a size in the bodice, but I think it’s really cute. And god knows she looks better here than in some of those other crazy rags she’s been wearing on this tour. I can’t blame a gal for being happy not to be posing next to Tom Cruise. So, IN.

  • Anonymous

    Enthusiastic Easter basket! IN

  • Anonymous

Bring me a hypo of methylphenobarbital! STAT!

  • She looks like a pinata! Soooooo out.

  • Mary McClelland

OUT – what the hell!? She looks like a Christmas tree ornament. And I hate pastel. It seems like she dressed for the wrong season – that’s another thing that bugs me. Maybe it’s cause I despise pastels. I blame growing up in the south.

  • Anonymous

I look at this and hear “hey girl hey, let’s ROCK THIS SHIT!” Fun dress, fun attitude, it’s kind of hilarious how amped she is, but I don’t think it’s bad. Could have been less pastel, but what the hell, I’m into it. In.

  • Anonymous

I think I’m going to go with IN on this one. The dress looks fun, and she looks like she’s having fun. That’s a rarity!

  • Aw, is it Easter already?  Cuz this chick is about 12 eggs short of an Easter Egg Hunt… OUT

  • She literally looks like she’s supposed to be Goddess of Mardi Gras.

  • ummm i liek the original more, this version looks like it was shaved off or something. but nonethells its cute, although i hate her hair and her shoes, she is cute though so IN sure

  • Anonymous

if you want fringes, you want fringes. you dont want poopy droopy things dropping hither & thither on the bottom of yr skirt.

other than that it’s okay, if a bit cleavage-inducing tight. make no mistake, thats why it’s done that way.

  • Anonymous

IN.  Anyone who manages to look THAT happy when her cleavage is THAT constricted deserves an in.

  • Out. This verges on to Sofia Vergara territory, and we already have one of her….

  • Anonymous

IN! Nice to see someone enjoy it!

  • Anonymous

I disagree totally about making her hold still.  She doesn’t need to look bored like G. Paltrow (hate her so much).  I like her because she looks  happy and personable and friendly and not “too cool” or “over it” like other actresses seem to be.  IN IN IN.  Even her shoes.  IN.

  • Anonymous

Awww, I like it. It’s fun and skippy and looks like its as happy as she is.

  • Anonymous

“Girl, enjoy the shit out of your moment, don’t let some bitter jaded old queens rain on your parade!”  And I’ll bet she did have pros doing this look for her, just not good ones.  Any fool with “flair” calls him or herself a stylist these days.  That in no way means they know what they are doing for everybody.  Or anybody.

  • She looks like an Easter basket.  Which if it were Easter time would give her an in, but since it’s not, out.

  • I think she’s adorable.  The dress is happy.  The shoes are happy. Paula is happy.  What’s not to like?  IN.

  • Anonymous

OK the dress is too shiny and fringy but she looks soooo happy and soooo peppy, she has to be IN!

  • penn collins

  • I am usually such a fan of the Pucci but this dress and the one that Lea Michele was wearing the other night – ugh – they’re not working for me. WAY to Vegas show girl.

  • sweetlilvoice

In, it’s a nice change to see someone look happy on the red carpet, especially after being in a movie with Tom Cruise.

  • In. I’m not a big fan of the waving – it’s all a bit Disney Parade. But you need a high-energy girl to really rock a high-energy dress. I’ll take this any day over something like Kristen Stewart’s schlumpy ennui.

  • Nicole Merrill

OUT. I hate everything about it, but the fringe especially.

  • Anonymous

IN.  She just looks too happy to be out, even if what you say is all true.

  • Her boobs need to not be under her chin

  • Anonymous

Out for the fit.  She looks like Hugh Hefner’s Easter egg.

  • Anonymous

Out for the fit.  She looks like Hugh Hefner’s Easter egg.

  • I like it. In.

the dress is tons better than others we’ve seen her in, and I’m feeling generous today, so I’ll grade on a scale.  In.

  • Anonymous

She’s obviously enjoying her celebrity, she’s absolutely stunning with a killer bod, it’s all good!  She has miles to go before she really nails it on the red carpet but she’s still IN.

  • Anonymous

A for enthusiasm but C- for the hair, makeup, dress and shoes.

  • In, but just by a cup size.

  • Anonymous

OUT. She’s acting like a pageant contestant.

  • Have to be OUT on this one, but it’s actually close. The dress could work but with different detailing and, um, a smaller chest. Obviously for most of us, that isn’t a decision we get to make, so that means this is NOT her dress. Sorry, Paula.

  • Anonymous

i know the voting’s over, but i just had to say she’s the perfect picture to go with the caption:  “there’s a party in my dress, and everyone’s invited!”

  • I mean it’s an okay look, but it’s one of the better ones. At all the other premiers girl looks rough…
    Sorry, still and out though
