In or Out: Jennifer Morrison in Stella McCartney

Posted on December 21, 2011

Seems like every time we feature a starlet in Stella, the commentariat rises up as one in anger. Apparently, the bitter kittens aren’t fans.

Jennifer Morrison attends the premiere of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in NYC in a Stella McCartney dress paired with YSL pumps.

But we thought this was a pretty sharp-looking dress so we thought we’d give the kittens an opportunity to reconsider their ideas about the most famous Beatle offspring.

But this is far from a perfect look. For one, her boobs look crushed and full of despair. For another, dear god is that a ton of hair or what? She’s rocking a 1986 Country Music Awards ‘do for sure. The shoes and clutch are a bit standard, but well-chosen. Yet, despite our listed misgivings, we think she looks pretty great here.

In other news, who’s watching Once Upon a Time? Still? We sheepishly admit that we’re still tuning in every week, even though the cheese factor is mighty high.

Vote Now!

IN! Sleek body, killer heels, and big hair! What’s to complain about?

OUT! Nope. I still hate Stella.

The bitter kittens took the day off yesterday and allowed the dewy-eyed, soft-hearted kittens to have their say, the result of which is that Paula Patton is IN, even though most admitted her dress was ugly. But she’s SMILING and JUST HAD A BABY!

OUT – my anti-Stella can’t be overcome. But this is a good demonstration of my problem with her: that pattern is specifically designed to give the optical illusion of a lumpy figure, where no lumpy figure exists. It crushes her boobs and widens her hips.

I couldn’t agree more about the design on the dress causing an unflattering illusion.  Also the length, which makes it worse.

As for “Once Upon a Time?”  Love it and never miss an episode.  I’m really hoping it sticks around.

      • Leslie Streeter

I kept reading that as “One Day At A Time” and going “Was there a Bertinelli sighting?”

    • Anonymous

Also agree. I have yet to like ONE SINGLE thing that Stella McCartney has designed. It’s (sort of) like the Emperor’s New Clothes – all these celebrities wearing them and no one has the balls to tell them they are unflattering.

    • Call me Bee

It certainly does.  And the length is very unflattering to her legs.  Or maybe it’s the shoes.  Unflattering all ’round!

      • RocknLox

She just has really solid legs.

I think the dress is supposed to be clever: A woman wearing a dress with a picture of a a dress with no woman. I don’t know how well it came off but that’s what I got.

  • marlie

IN! Though she could stand to go up half a dress size, I actually love the dress, the hair and the shoes!

  • Anonymous

I actually like this dress, though I’d prefer it in a different color opposing the black. But, she needs a different bra and different shoes. In fact, I think I’d prefer this with boots.

    • Judy_J

I’m in complete agreement with your assessment.

    • accidental housewife

I’m not sure she’s even wearing a bra.

      • Anonymous

Yeah, I’m not sure she can even fit a bra under that dress.

        • accidental housewife

Good point. We’d be seeing the outline of the bra if she were wearing one.

Every time I look at that dress, I love it more.

  • Anonymous

I like it. The dress is quite striking. Not thrilled by her hair or accessories, but all in all an In.

  • Anonymous

Reverse the color pattern, with black on the outside and blue in, and it would be more slimming as opposed to lump-ifying.  Doesn’t do much for me.  Not that I hate STELLAAAAH, but this is a poor look for every neg that Our Boys enumerated.

  • Gustavo Casals

This looks like an Adidas Stella, which I’m partial to. And the body does look rockin’ . IN, despite the Farrah hair ( I like Morrison much better as a brunette )

    • What Ladder

So with you on the hair. I hate that brassy shade.

      • Bridget Smith

Agreed. And yet, this is her natural color (apparently). She’s like Gillian Anderson: they MAY be natural blondes, but they look so much better in their adopted shades that they should just stick with them.

    • judi townsend

Adidas Stella is MUCH better than the Red Carpet Stella. I think Adidas Stella is a little pricey for jogging wear, but the styles are nice

  • Alexis Peñafuerte Wenceslao

    IN! Love the dress!

  • Anonymous

Out. In the first picture it seems like the fit it completely wrong, giving her a weird shape and I’m hating the hair.

But I’m loving Once Upon a Time immensely.

  • Dan Howell

I want to like it…I think a slightly different hem length and accessories would win me over.

Our household is very much in love with Once Upon A Time…these two gay men are loving the cheese-factor!

  • Anonymous

I really like the dress! But hate the brassy looking hair. Also, couldn’t stand “Once Upon a Time” after two episodes. Really wanted to like it, but the cheesiness was making me lactose intolerant.

  • Diana Martinez

OUT.  The pattern (is that even the right word?) on that dress is NOT flattering, makes her look on the heavy side and we all know she is NOT.

As for Once Upon a Time, still loving it! =)

  • Anonymous

I like the sporty dress, hate the hair and someone should have dusted off the shoes. It’s almost Christmas and I’m in a good mood, so it’s an IN.

  • Anonymous

But she’s SMILING and JUST HAD A BABY!

    • Anonymous

Hey, I started the smiley thing and even I loved that TLo comment.

  • Anonymous

I’m just not crazy about that length; it always stumpifies, but it’s a great little dress otherwise.

  • Shannon Stewart

I really like this dress.  It’s interesting without being too much.

As for Stella McCartney… well, she seems like she’d actually be kinda interesting to be around, based on some stories I’ve heard about her.  I just don’t like most of her clothes.

  • Anonymous

I thought I liked the dress, but I also thought it was a solid blue. Then I adjusted my screen and saw it for what it really is, and now I hate it.

  • Anonymous

    IN, I like the sleekness.
And I’m still watching Once Upon A Time, it’s strangely addicting.

  • Anonymous

In – I have nothing against Stella and I think it’s a pretty killa dress for a slammin’ bod

  • Anonymous

I’ll go IN. I don’t have the slightest idea who she is, and I’d never have guessed that was a Stella McCartney dress, but I think she looks pretty! Even if the fit is, yes, a bit wonky.

  • Anonymous

When will they stop making dresses in this unflattering length?  No one looks good in it.  I don’t like the dress anyway, but it would be a lot better in an attractive length and a larger size.

  • accidental housewife

God help me and may my fellow Stella-haters forgive me, but I love this dress, and I’d wear it in a second if I could get away with it.

Girl needs a haircut, but that’s the only complaint I have. IN

OK, not the only complaint. After the “diva” discussion in the VH-1 Divas post, Jennifer Morrison’s lack of charisma is even more glaring than usual. Is it possible to be a sack of non-charisma? Wasn’t she that boring resident on House who was inexplicably in love with the good doctor? She was such a drip.

  • Sara Munoz

This is the rare Stella dress that I like. And it’s great on her. IN!!!!
Although, I hope she didn’t have to go dancing or anything, cause it doesn’t look like she can move…

  • BuffaloBarbara

It’s an okay dress.  I like the mega-hair, though.  It’s such a relief after all the pin-straight, eek-it-might-move stuff we’ve been seeing lately.

As to OUAT… Yeah. I’m watching.  I keep hoping it will get better because, as the kid put it, there has to be something more than this.

  • Vivi N

I gave the show a chance but after the 3rd episode, I let it go. It’s beyond cheesy and the acting is subpar. The lil’ kid annoys me. Finally, we’re meant to believe that Jennifer’s character is 28yr old. Pshhh!

  • Anonymous

    Out…..that’s a sad look.

  • Anonymous

The last episode of Once Upon a Time was pretty awesome.  I’m definitely intrigued to see where they take the show.

  • MandyJane

In, I think she looks gorgeous. (still watching Once Upon a Time and loving it, I’m just that cheesy)

  • Ivona Foster

Meh, does it get more basic then this? I’ll probably tune in for Once Upon a Time but boy are they testing me.

  • Anonymous

Really digging the black panel in the middle, actually. It’s sorta moderny-arty silhouette. Meh on the hair and shoes, but not enough to take it to an out. In.

  • R LM

I like this McCartney – and I don’t usually.  They always seem like they’re trying too hard.

  • Anonymous

In. I’ve seen worse. Not a fan of the hairstyle but she looks great in the dress.

  • Nancer

I like it. Slightly tight, but if she went up a size it would lose the impact. Also, I love the hair – its nice to see something other than flattened tresses.

    • accidental housewife

I think she just needs to cut a few inches off. Getting rid of those damn Farrah wings would help too. Whoever is responsible for bringing them back should be forced to wear a Moe Howard cut for a year.

  • Anonymous

    IN. Tight, sexy, blond in.

  • Anonymous

    In, by a hair.

    How old is this person?

  • Anonymous

The pattern kind of makes her look like she has the world’s longest torso, and that length doesn’t help…it makes her legs look stumpy.

  • Dana WhatTheFrock

EH. The dress is fine, the shoes are boring, the hair is bad, the makeup and earrings are good.

I honestly can’t decide. Better hair would make it an IN,though.

And I’m still watching OUAT. I don’t know why. It’s not really good, but I’m interested in what happens next, so I tune in. Although I’m bummed that they

    {spoiler if you haven’t’ seen it lately}
    killed off the hot sheriff.

    • Anonymous

I’m pretty bummed, too, especially as he was getting sexier by the minute despite is inexplicable vest obsession. But you know, they really needed to kick things into high gear and that did it, so I can live with hot Prince Charming and my not-so-secret-crush on Robert Carlyle. Jiminy Crickett is also kind of hot in that ginger nerd who’s probably a freak in the sack kind of way (words I never thought I’d have occasion to write).

  • Anonymous

OK, IN. Just. First glance she looks sleek and put together. Second glance the dress is too tight and the shape of the color blocking around her right boob is wonky and not doing her any favors.  Stella misses more than she hits….

  • ecallaw

I think this is the best someone has looked in one of these dresses, and I like the assymetrical lines at the top.  Also like the navy/black combo.

  • Anplica Fiore

The hair could be toned down a touch but she looks good overall – In!

  • Jacqui

I say IN. I don’t love it love it but I think she looks good.

And I’m still watching Once Upon A Time and enjoying it.

  • Anonymous

Don’t like her, hate the eye makeup, but credit where credit is due…IN.

  • Anonymous

Unitard.  Gym wear.  Jane Fonda, c. 1984.  OUT.

  • Anonymous

Out.  I think I’m over this body-shaper-dress thing.  And I think the color isn’t good for Ms. Morrison.  Oh yes, and I am still not, nor have I ever been, a fan of Stella McC’s stuff.

  • Sara__B

I don’t dislike Stella, but I dislike her dress. It reminds me of a gymnastics competition leotard from the 70s, right down to the held-in breasts and well-toned arms. Add the heavy shoes and really long hair, and it’s OUT.

  • Anonymous

I love this dress but can’t get over the hair (she looks so much better as a brunette), the blah shoes and that make up! OUT!!!

  • Anonymous

I’m not a fan of dresses that make one’s body look like an Olympic swimmer. And holy Farrah hair extensions, Batman! OUT.

  • Anonymous

I kind of skimmed the post and read the part about “the most famous Beatle offspring” and couldn’t believe I didn’t know that Jennifer Morrison was the daughter of one of the Beatles.

Then I read back through and found out it was a Stella McCartney dress.  D’oh.

I mostly like it but think the hem is too long and makes her look dumpy and the hair looks terrible.  I also hate black and navy together with a passion.  OUT.

    • Maggie

Did the exact same freakin’ thing. And I thought… “Morrison, he was in The Doors…” Face palm.

  • Glynis Fediuk

Out. I find this look totally zzzzzzzzzzz.

  • Eileen Duffy

Like it!  But she needs a cut and color.  Tell her I said to go back to brunette. :)

  • Anonymous

The dress is the lesser issue in this case, IMO, excepto that the lenght is giving her cankles. Hate the shoes, HATE the hair (both by itself and for this look) and hate the shoes.
    Sorry, Jenny. OUT.

  • Anonymous

IN.  I like the dress, though I do see the point that it is a bit lumpifying.  I think her great figure is needed to pull this dress off.  I would have preferred it also in more contrasting colors.

I really like her hair. A bit retro, but still pretty. It’s refreshing from all the ironed out straight, extension hair that’s been so predominant.

I like OUAT.  It’s silly, but sometimes I need a little silly in my viewing schedule.

  • Anonymous

Not a fan of the hair, but I like everything else. The dress especially, it’s bold and perfect for her coloring. And unlike a certain Ms. Michele, she could sit down in it if she’d like! IN.

  • Anonymous

Generally Anti-stella, but this is a tentative in.  The dress isn’t bad, especially considering the source.  The hair is a bit “weather-girl at the local station circa-1989”, but overall a sleek little look.

  • Anonymous

In.  One of the rare times the length actually works.

  • Jessica Goldstein

I don’t like the vast majority of Stella’s dresses, but I LOVE this one and would snap it up in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Fit and hair aren’t awesome here, but it’s still an IN in my book.

  • Lexie

IN – she looks pretty great in that first picture. Although, sleeker hair and an inch of two off the hem would help a lot.

I’m strangely addicted to Once Upon A Time too! It’s so weird. I know it’s no where near “good”, but I just can’t stop. Guilty pleasure of the season for sure.

  • MilaXX

The dress is okay, nothing special. Makeup is fine, bag & shoes are okay. She could stand a little less hair & perhaps a sleeker style with this dress.
Yes I am still watching Once up even though they killed off the cute guy.

  • mrspeel2

Though I agree with marlie that Jenn needed to go up a half size, I think she looks stunning. This particular Stella creation is pretty sedate and not as fussy as most of her others.

You betcha I’m still watching Once Upon A time”, as well as Grimm! I thoroughly enjoy them both and hoping against
    hope that neither gets cancelled.

    • MilaXX

Even though it’s a little cheesy, I really like Grimm

  • Claudia Berry

She looks good – IN – but that hair, the color is horrific.

  • Anonymous

I love Once Upon a Time and hope that the hot Sheriff Graham (Jamie Dornan) isn’t really dead. I saw he was in something like 21 episodes so mayhap they will find a way to bring him back –wolf-fully maybe?  And doesn’t Morrison have more hair here than in the show?

In, by the way. I think she looks good.

  • Sharon Bear Terrill

OUT for the dress, IN for the show.  I still watch it.  And Grimm.  Yay Hulu!

  • Anonymous

I like this one better than the Kate Winslet dress, but the shininess on the boobs isn’t very complimentary. I really dislike the length on her.

And re OUaT, I hate to say that it bores me to tears. My kids watch it, but usually about halfway through each episode  I tire of the helpless Ginnifer Goodwin and the cray-cray eyes Evil Queen. Gaz is the only reason to watch it, so when I hear him, I come back in the room to watch. It’s a shame – I really want to like this show.

  • Anonymous

As hideous Stella creations go, this is one of the better ones. But that’s not saying much. I do like the navy and black.

  • Anonymous

she’s wearing pagent hair with a body suit… just looks odd and uncomfortable. out!!

  • Anonymous

Lose six inches and add one size.

  • Anonymous

IN, although the length isn’t ideal.  I just wish she weren’t posing with her legs so far apart in the last shot.

  • Anonymous

    Too long, otherwise fine.  IN

  • Anonymous

She looks like she’d rather be wearing jeans and a flannel shirt — OUT because she’s not owning it

  • Maggie

IN, but only because she is usually a hot f-ing mess and this looks somewhat decent. I like her hair… I like big hair…

  • Sammi M

I’m saying In because the dress is slick and it’s overall a good look, but I have to admit that her hair makes her look about 20 years older than she is.

  • Renee Thomas

Makes her look like she has no waist, and the length is a little stumpifying. Oooout.

  • Anonymous

Out.  Reminds me of one of those Olympic racing swimsuits.

  • Rebecca Johnson

I looked back through some of the other Stella looks that have been featured on TLo and my main criticism is that they look CHEAP. Cheap and poorly made. I get that the color-blocking is supposed to lead the eye to create a feminine silhouette, but only runway models need to be given curves in those particular areas. Everyone else already has them, and the color-blocking only serves to make the real curves look wider and actually *less* defined. Ugh.

  • Susana Reyes

    In. She looks ok.

  • Anonymous

TLo, may I ask how old you were in 1986?  Because the hair for the country music awards circa 1986 looked like this:  However, this look is rocking right from the 1970’s, to wit:    It was a horrible time for hair.  Now I have to get a xanax and go lay down.

    • Anonymous

Oh and I still think she looks pretty, if a bit dull.  It just looks like a cheap stretchy dress on a very beautiful girl.  And her purple nail polish just makes me sad.  So a wee “in” but that’s all.  I hate Stella M.

  • Anonymous

IN.  It reminds me of the Stella McCartney dress Kate Winslet wore in Venice, only this version is more flattering and I think Jennifer Morrison (whoever she is) is pulling it off.

  • Anonymous

Is the same dress that Kate Winslet wore in white?  I’m too lazy (and I don’t care enough) to go google it.  I kind of like it here.  The pumps aren’t bad, but are kind of boring.  I wish she didn’t have those wings of hair from curling her bangs back.

I am still watching Once upon a time…I love the cheese factor in something like this.

  • Anonymous

I have no strong opinions on Stella one way or another, despite being a huge fan of her dad’s music.  Having said that, it’s not a bad look.  I’m not sure why it looks good on her, because I don’t normally like those colors together, but she seems to be pretty well done.  I didn’t even notice she had a clutch until you guys pointed it out though.  I say In.

  • Lauren St Martin

I like it. It’s not offensive, so yeah, in. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, I LOVE Once Upon a Time! For real. And it makes me even happier when they throw in LOST callbacks.

  • Anonymous

I hate Stella!  I like Jennifer, but her figure is SO much prettier than this dress is showing.  I’m still watching Once Upon a Time, too, and I’m a complete sap for it.

  • Emily

In.  Love the dress.  NOt a fan of the hair and styling though.

  • Anonymous

OUT. The color blocking is hitting in all the wrong places. It’s making her look wide and boxy. I don’t hate Stella. I hate her clothes.

    • accidental housewife

Yep. I have not against Stella herself. It’s Stella’s clothes that bug me. If people want to fall all over her because of her famous father, that’s not her fault.

  • penn collins

In. but it does look like a diving suit, would be curious to see it in another color pattern. Maybe there hair is too many extensions going awry?

And mary margaret/snow is the reason I stick with Once…her face is so fascinating (and the new Gippeto/Jimeny (sp) Cricket story was intriguing)

  • Anonymous

I have yet to actually like anything Stella McCartney has designed. Her brand always strikes me as being a vanity project for a trust fund baby. No one wants to piss off her daddy, so all the celebs kiss her ring and wear her awful clothes.

    • Anonymous

YES YES YES!  I wish I had said this.

  • Aniela Marie Perry

  • Anonymous

OUT – The dress looks good enough, though there is some alarming stretch-sheerness going on over the boobage region, but the color of her hair and lipstick are very harsh and she has a lot of root showing for someone with a rather successful network show.

  • Heron

IN!  Hate the shoes, but that is some fierce dress-on-a-dress.

  • CQAussie

IN.  Love the look top to toe – even the big hair =D

  • R. L.

IN!  The dress is great.  Shoes and clutch are fine.  I actually like big hair on her. I’m glad she kept her jewelry simple as this is a dress that I don’t think would favor a lot of necklaces.

Much as I hate to admit it I am watching Once Upon A Time every week.

  • Samuel Joesph Donovan

Omg, you biased assholes, this is a clearly IN.

  • Anonymous

I’d advise a haircut and one size up in the dress. What does that add up to — an indefinite out?

    • Anonymous

I agree with carolynmo, but I’d also lose the harsh eyeliner that makes her eyes into slits.

  • Anonymous

Super cheese . But I tune in every week too. They rooked us last time, it sure looked like it was going to be an new episode by the ads the previous week and nope it was a re-run.

  • Anonymous

I like the dress but would have liked it better it the black part was more symmetrical

  • Anonymous

In. Yes the boob fit needs to be adjusted and her hair is a bit out of control, but i still like to look.

  • Anonymous

OUT!  I love the dress but it is a size too small.

  • C Deal

Dress is meh. Still watching “Once…” and love it. Also, watching the other Sunday night treat – Hell on Wheels- and waiting with baited breath for you two to start recapping it. Much Love.

  • Anonymous

In – I love this look, but wish the hem was an inch or 2 higher.
I, too, am loving Once Upon a Time.  When will T-Lo talk about what Snow took away from the queen?!

  • Vaniljekjeks

  • Samantha Irene

I like the dress. Shoes and hair are off – but she still looks great! IN

  • Christina Brennan

  • Anonymous

I think she looks pretty great to be honest.  IN.

  • Anonymous

there’s something odd about her make up or something because she looks so old.

  • Dawn Sinclair

Out and I heart Sella McCartney but not for red carpet.

::Wanders off being a lone Stella fan::

  • Anonymous

Out.  Its not that I always hate Stella, but this dress is not flattering.

  • Anonymous

I like a lot of the Stella McCartney children’s line, because it’s a lot more wearable than much of children’s “couture”, but have yet to see much I’d want to wear as an adult. It’s just okay, you know?

  • Anonymous

I like this dress! The hair is killing me, though. Jennifer Morison is so much prettier than this, as you can tell in Once Upon A Time (I really need to catch up on that show, it’s been weeks now) when she is sensibly running around in jeans and cute leather jackets.

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

God is that an awkward length.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know how one makes a form-fitting dress look dowdy, but it’s happening here. And who told her she looks good in yellow hair? OUT.

  • Anonymous

I think it’s a pretty fun dress, love the “curvyness” of it, and it looks like a fashion illustration come to life. Does that make sense?

  • Anonymous

My thoughts in order:  who?  It’s too tight.  80’s hair – ugh.

I guess that would be an out.

  • Kate Musgrove

Love the dress, hate the hair. Hate the hair so much it might get a petty, unreasonable OUT.

  • Anonymous

IN, and don’t feel bad about watching Once Upon a Time. It’s great fun!

  • Anonymous

better than her more gimmicky stuff, by far.

please note that the last three things by stella you have given us were, apparently:

    • china chow wearing the printed protector for an overhead projector

    • meryl streep wearing a maybe pleated top which once belonged to either of the previously famous hulks [one Incredible, one Hogan]

    • gwyneth paltrow, of all people, wearing something that should never have been conceived, much less made, but which looks like the unholy spawn of a hundred year old saloon garment & a neckbrace, pattern by keith harring, one sleeve added haphazardly

not all of stella mccartneys stuff is that bad, though some of it most surely is, she does run into ruts & wreckage more often than she probably should & is, i hate to say it but probably, pulled out by her name more often than most other people would be by theirs. still, not ripe enough to throw away at this point.

all thats wrong w/ this dress, i think, is the two extra inches on the hem. i dont even see it as too tight.

  • Anonymous

IN…She looks fine, however, this illusion/slimming type dress is soon to be standard, if not already out of date.  How many times have we seen variations of it on the RC, tv and magazine covers.

  • Anonymous

There are things I like about the dress that others have mentioned–sleekness, form fitting, curviness.  But I hate the way it looks like it’s squeezing her legs together so she can’t walk, so I have to say out.  And the hair?  As you said in a previous post–so over the fake mermaid hair.

  • Jessica O’Connell

I think the dress is pretty, but her hair and makeup, along with her accessorizing, are all lacking. So…OUT.

In other news, “her boobs look crushed and full of despair” may be your best line yet. Also, she’s standing REALLY awkwardly in that last picture. Is she a superhero or something?

  • Anonymous

OUT – she’s got a great bod that just looks bizarre in that silhouette.  And the hair is just…….too much.

  • Anonymous

I vote in. I understand the demerits on various small points, but taken as a whole she looks terrific to me.

  • Anonymous

I think Stella McCartney hates women.

  • Anonymous

Minor IN. The way the black is shaped is odd and kind of unflattering and I’m not crazy about the length. Could have been done better. Now go put on a good bra and do something with the hair.

Oh, I’m definitely still watching the show. Yes, it’s cheesy as hell and there’s a character or two that are annoying but I still find myself enjoying it.

I think she looks good as a total package, so IN. One would need a model body, but with boobs, to look good in this dress, and she’s close enough.

Hair bugs me, but it pales next to my total perplexity as to why her face can look quite attractive one moment and wierdly, annoyingly wonky the next.

And, yes, I’m still watching. It’s a gentle kind of enjoyment, but I do very much enjoy it.

Not usually a Stella fan, but this one’s working for me, IN.

Oh my god, I totally watch Once Upon a Time even though at least one acting choice, costume/hair choice, and 3-5 sections of dialog make me cringe every week. I did think this last episodes was one of the better ones. Raised the stakes, which was desperately needed.

I’d love to see you guys blog the costumes and styling. Whoever does the Evil Queen clearly did a lot of bad drag in 1992, and you need to call them out.

  • Allison Woods

I like the dress, but am not sure why she hates her boobs so much.

An accessory or two wouldn’t kill the girl either. Minor in.

  • Anonymous

IN. I think this a chic, flattering number. Could use some straigthening out here and there, but still good.

  • Anonymous

Rockin’ bod, killer heels – and I hate the dress.  I presume the “color” – if one can call dark blue on black color – is meant to flatter the figure but it sure as heck doesn’t.  Poor choice, Jen.  OUT

  • Rachael J.

I actually really like the dress, it’s the hair that’s ruining it for me.  Charlie’s Angels hair is OVER!

  • Anonymous

This is the dress that Kate Winslet rocked so fiercely in b&w, no?  I think the dress is genius, but this version doesn’t do the trick.

  • Anonymous

The blonder Jennifer Morrison gets, the less lovely she looks. Great dress, but she’s looked better in others. I’m feeling cranky, so Out. I’m addicted to cheese, so of course I’m watching OUAT. The combination of fairy tales and Sunday night make it too Wonderful World of Disney flashback-y for me NOT to watch it.

  • Amye Sabin

I like her alot more than when she first started designing!  Too bad not everyone can get over their initial hate.

IN. She looks pretty darn good and I don’t even hate the hair.

  • Anonymous

It’s hard to say.  I have to stare at it for awhile before I can see the black dress emerge from the black background.  Kind of like those games where you stare at squiggles and a shape appears.  Mostly I see a head with lots of hair and disembodied arms and legs.  I don’t have a problem with all the hair – I grew up in the 80’s in the south.  So what I can see looks good, I’ll go with IN.

  • Erin Leahy

I LIKE STELLA!! I think her designs are smart and interesting.  This dress included. Hmmph. in.

  • mcglory13

This one depends upon the picture. I’m giving her an in for the first picture. As for Once Upon A Time, we haven’t officially cancelled the season pass, but it’s just stacking up on the Tivo. So we might as well admit we’re not watching it anymore.

  • Natasha Fairweather

It looks like the yoga pants version of a dress. Meh.

  • Anonymous

I lIke the dress, but it’s too tight. I’m guessing she thought she’d skip the bra because the dress felt like sufficient support. But what she needs there is lift. Hair is awful. But overall, it’s an In for me.

  • Anonymous

But she’s SMILING and JUST HAD A BABY!
    Hahaha. I love you guys.
PS is jennifer morrison’s hair for a role?

  • Wendy Shieu

IN! I actually like the dress although it is a little too tight.

Also, I watch Once Upon a Time! Although it’s a little cheesy, it’s captivating, and it’s always interesting to see how they retell classic fairy tales. I think you guys should start doing television reviews for Once Upon a Time since you guys are still tuning in, and it looks like many of your minions are also fans of the show :)

  • Anonymous

I will reluctantly concede a scraped-by “in” here. I am among the kittens who are not Stella fans but this dress really is sharp and can’t be faulted for anything bad about this look… it’s a styling issue more than the dress.

  • Anonymous

IN. Not perfect, but still good looking.

  • Lisa

Not loving the look, but OH ME ME ME ME ME!!! I”m watching Once Upon a Time, and I LOVE it!

  • Anna Tree

Hate the hair, the shoes are clunk city. Plus, I can’t figure out why her make up people are committed to making her look squinty-eyed.  HOWEVER, I must still go with a (reluctant) IN.

  • Anonymous

IN! She looks fantastic! Not perfect, but pretty fantastic!

I really don’t understand the Stella hatred. She takes risks and pushes fashion forward; she’s not just trying to make pretty dresses. And how can anyone hate the awesome tuxedo jacket with the deep V front that she did (last year? last season?) that every female celebrity seemed to wear and so many designers tried to copy?

  • Anonymous

I don’t HATE McCartney’s designs, but I don’t GET them, either.  I don’t care for this dress, nor did I care for this variation sported by Kate Winslet a few months ago:  Why do the hems all have to be too long?  And I dislike the hair.  OUT.

  • Anonymous

    OUT. Hate…can’t….hair…misshapen….blargh.

  • Barbora

IN! And I love Once Upon a Time…

  • Anonymous

In – if there was one flounce of any kind on this dress, I wouldn’t forgive the hair, but I’m giving her an IN.  I’m a sucker for deep blue and color blocking.  Still, I’d like to straighten the hair and throw a Beckham sheath her way.

  • tom markiewicz

OUT. the weird black shape on the front does equally weird and unflattering things to her shape; the whole point of that two-tone shaping on the front of a dress is to BE flattering.

  • Summer Born

    IN for this one :)

    (from Summer, the perpetually votes-too-late)

  • Anonymous

OUT. Stella is still out, and Jennifer by association.
This is one of the gloomiest, most unflattering color-block dresses I’ve ever seen. The shapes are just weird.

  • Anonymous

i love this dress on her, she’s working those curves and long blond curls like an all-american girl.  IN.

  • Danielle West

In.  I think she looks pretty good.  And I LOVE Once Upon a Time!!!!

  • Anonymous

OUT. The colors are to close to be effective. She is a substandard designer and would be working merchandise at Macy’s if not for her father. PERIOD

  • Anonymous

Out. Those colours aren’t right and the fit is off. Also, why the bag and shoes?

  • Anonymous

I’m not sure what to do with this. Head on, I like the concept of the dress and the cut, but the asymmetrical blue swooshes make one boob look deformed. From the side, the titscrepancy is masked, but it becomes more obvious this dress is too small for her. I’m kind of neutral on Stella so that doesn’t help me, either. I don’t think she looks bad, but I don’t think she looks great.

I guess I abstain. Can we do that? I’m totally doing that.

  • Amanda

I like this…except for the hair. IN. And yes, Once Upon A Time is one of the few shows I actually watch.

  • Jenna Thomas-McKie

I like the dress, but I do not like the actress wearing it.  So – out.

  • Ass Kicking Adviser

IN. Great dress. She would qualify for a fabulous if it weren’t for her atrocious hair. Ugh. Not seeing the problem with her boobs.

  • Amelia Logan

I just don’t think she’s attractive, but that ridiculous hair – we know it’s fake – stop fucking with us.

  • Aly Light

  • Anonymous

IN – I still think that the hem would look better if it was shorter, but I still like it.

  • oohsparkley!

In.  Even a blind pig can find an acorn now and then.  That’s what we say in my family when someone just gets lucky, which now that I think about it, doesn’t even make sense.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  That dress is pure fug.

  • Merneith

Out. Kate Winslet’s dress was better by several orders of magnitude and Morrison’s hair is just desperate. Also, I don’t know how she gets a pass on her matchy shoes and blah bag.

In re Paula Patton – never underestimate what a million dollar smile can do for a look.

I guess it’s IN for me, even though I still miss her on House, and she looks terrible as a blonde.  The dress is good.

  • Anonymous

    Out….agree with FoodyCat: I can’t overcome my anti-Stella.

  • GQueen

Too much hair, but I like the dress.

  • Joyce VG

“OUT! Nope. I still hate Stella.” oh how i dislike her clothes…

  • Anonymous

Not liking the hair on her, and the whole package is a little boring, but… IN.

  • Mary McClelland

    Isn’t Paula Patton’s son 2? BTW: IN.

  • Anonymous

    Not great, but IN.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I’d give her an IN.  I usually do hate Stella McCartney, but this one isn’t bad.  Shows off her curves well.  She looks good.!

I am still watching Once Upon a Time.  I like it.  So sue me!  :)

  • Anonymous

Simple but flattering dress.  great fit, great length.  she’s in.

  • Anonymous

In. Not perfect, but I’d like to hang this dress in my closet.

I am still watching OUAT. Not sure why, but I just can’t stop. I think part of me is waiting for the Lost writers to admit that they’re just screwing with us and were trying to see if they could get us to watch anything they make.

  • Nariman Alkhatib

IN i love the shapes it soo interesting and sleek at the same time

  • AWStevens

Is she wearing spandex or spanx?

  • foodhussy

I think she looks like crap and looks old and angry – but I love me some #onceuponatime!

  • Anonymous

I think it’s all lots of fun. IN.

  • Sorana Tarmu

I’m watching Once Upon a Time, cheese and all, just for the too rare appearances of Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold, who, in my opinion, steals the show.
But this dress is hiddy. Sorry, Stella,I usually like your creations. OUT.

  • Anonymous

Not sure what the overall feeling is about Stella but this is a nice dress.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem very suited to a movie premiere.  I can see almost any ad or publishing exec dressed in this for a client meeting.  OUT

    The hair is truly egregious.
