Iman in Zac Posen

Posted on December 01, 2011

Iman has a very simple request for all of you.

Iman in Zac PosenIman attends the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Opening Night Gala Benefit in a Zac Posen gown.

Iman in Zac Posen

Iman in Zac Posen

She requests that you bow the fuck down in her presence.

We don’t even like most Zac Posen dresses and we’re not really sure if we like this one (pretty sure we hate it, in fact), but DAMN. You put something on Iman and put her in front of a camera and suddenly it’s jaw-dropping haute couture.

I love that color on her.  It’s so pretty! and I’m bowing down now.

  • Anonymous

we mere mortals are not worthy……

  • Anonymous

I don’t like it. Iman is a goddess but the dress is too fussy for someone as fabulous as she is.

    • Anonymous

Agreed. With her the focus should always be on her stunning, stunning face. There’s too much going on here, and that hair isn’t working for me either.

    • Sobaika Mirza

HATE the dress. Looks like a modern interpretation of a Scarlett O’Hara curtain dress. You’re right, very fussy.

But there’s still no denying that she looks smashing.

      • Anonymous

That would make an excellent PR challenge. Interpret this famous movie dress as your own. Or has it been done already??

        • Anonymous

Keith the cheater did reference that + the Carol Burnett show spoof of the Scarlett O’Hara dress, but giving each designer an iconic movie costume to interpret (or character, even) would be awesome!

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

They did the Scarlett O’Hara challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race though ;)

      • Anonymous

Yes, not the best dress but Iman is making the best of it.  And yes, those colors are amazing on her.

    • Patti Lever

Too much jewelry, dress is too fussy and her hair is just not right. She’s a beautiful woman who does not need all this fuss

  • Charles Purdy

Need to make BTFD (bow the fuck down) widely accepted digital shorthand. Or is it already?

    • http://www.facebook.com/charlotte.horseman Charlotte Horseman

      So right!

  • Anonymous

I don’t like the dress but she looks fab in it

  • Anonymous

I thought it was just me not ‘getting’ Zac Posen. But she is just amazing. I went to this gala a few years ago- I have never seen so much fierce in one room.

  • Anonymous

Bowing low. Just hope someone will help me back up.

  • Anonymous

I like the dress and I think it looks gorgeous on her.

  • Anonymous

Where’s the WERQ? Or is Iman above judgement? (I’m totally cool with the latter…bitch BRANGS it.)

    • http://www.tomandorenzo.com Tom and Lorenzo

No WERQ because we don’t really like the dress.

      • Anonymous

        Point taken.

    • Rand Ortega

      BRANGS.
My new word for the month.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

    Gah.  A.mah.zing.  Proceeding to bow…

  • Anonymous

WERQ!!!!! to the 10nth power!!!..she looks better in it than the original model for sure!

  • Anonymous

That dress is hiddy. She always knows how to WERQ, though!

  • Nora Mulllin

It’s an ugly dress but she looks great in that color AND she’s working the hell out of it. On anyone else it’d be an OUT just because the dress isn’t attractive.

  • Sara Leigh Merrey

    ::bowing::

  • Anonymous

i effing hate zac posen but she makes him look good in this.

  • Anonymous

YOWZA! Miss I really knows how to pull off a stunning, polished look.

  • Anonymous

I think you just added a new phrase to my vocabulary, guys, “The Iman Effect”. At first look, I was loving it all, but you are right, that dress isn’t perfect, but Iman just sweeps all thoughts of nit-picking and critiquing away with a queenly wave of her hand. Sigh.

    • Anonymous

Oh, poo!  I didn’t see this post before I posted using that phrase.  Plagiarism already!  Sorry, Kmom!

      • Anonymous

That isn’t plagiarism, that is “Great minds think alike”, so no worries!

  • http://twitter.com/Deac82 Mike M.

why is his stuff always so fussy??

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Katie-Heim/708520610 Katie Heim

How is it that she ages to more gorgeous? Jesus. H. Christ.

    • Anonymous

She and that yummy husband of hers.  It’s definitely the Dorian Gray effect…there are godawful portraits of them in an attic somewhere.

    • Anonymous

How can anyone be her age and still have such perfectly gorgeous skin?
There has to be a portrait in an attic somewhere….

  • Anonymous

Hate the dress, hate the hair, and she still looks fabulous.  But what is enclosed in plastic on her left in the first picture?  An itty bitty entourage? A collection of people who shriveled under her steely gaze?

    • Judy_J

Those are the folks who refused to bow.

      • Anonymous

Judy_J: You just made me snort and laugh out loud.

  • Anonymous

Consider me bowing in the presence of greatness – how does she do it??

    • Anonymous

That’s what I would like to know!

    • Anonymous

There’s only one possible answer: She’s an alien. One of those UFOs that touched down in Roswell left earth without her as they returned to their obviously superior planet.  She is just not one of us.  Beneath that gorgeous exterior–alien clockwork! :)

  • Anonymous

But, you know, my eye just goes to her face, her presence, her charisma. The dress looks like an over eager costume design student would make for the school play.

  • Anonymous

Whenever I think maybe modeling isn’t a real skill, or it’s not something that you can have a gift for, Iman is always the counter-argument.

    • Anonymous

Exactly.  It takes way more than a pretty face and a good body to make something like this dress look this good.  Supermodel definition: Iman.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

    I’m bowing.

  • Anonymous

She is some sort of goddess, isn’t she?

  • Vickie Driver

Mrs. David Bowie … Kicks ass. Takes names.

  • BerlinerNYC

Quoth Florida Evans, “Damn, damn, DAMN!”.

    • http://www.tomandorenzo.com Tom and Lorenzo

We love Iman, but we’re not about to smash our punch bowl over her.

Actually, we don’t have a punch bowl.

      • Anonymous

You need one!  How else can you have a truly epic hissy by yanking the tablecloth and sending everything flying?  The effect just doesn’t work without a punch bowl full of something red.

  • Anonymous

It’s a gimmicky dress on a fabulous gal… It is one lucky dress, ’cause that fabulous gal has elevated it to the big leagues!!

  • Judy_J

Timeless beauty.  She’ll never grow old, will she?

  • Anonymous

Even Iman doesn’t actually need hip pads.

::she says from her bowed-down position::

  • Anonymous

    Holy shit.

  • jennysullivanparker

I knew you were going to say that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=566983224 Erin Leahy

I TOTALY knew you were going to say “bow down” cause she looks fucking FIERCE.

    • Anonymous

      same here :)

  • Kate Pearce

Yup, how does she do that??

  • Anonymous

I for one welcome our new Iman overlords.

  • Anonymous

Good Lord!  You guys must SHUT THIS SHIT DOWN for about a week.  Iman demands it…because no one is even in the same REALM as her level of fierceness.

All that’s missing is The Bowie, looking like sex on a stick.

  • Anonymous

TLo, you are absolutely right.  I don’t like the dress much either, but you put it on Iman and suddenly–BOOM!  Extreme ferocity and absolute gorgeousness.  I swear, she is not of this world.

I think the Iman Effect is what designers hope for when they ship their dresses off to celebs and starlets to wear on the red carpet.  Sometimes it works a little, most often it doesn’t.  But when it’s Iman, it is always, always fabulous.  I don’t bow down lightly, but I grovel at her (I’m sure) perfect, gorgeous feet.

This just makes me miss “The Fashion Show” even more.

  • Anonymous

I was on my knees before I was able to scroll down to follow your command.

  • Anonymous

Can you imagine how ridiculous nearly anyone else would look in this dress?

  • Anonymous

She is a breathtakingly beautiful woman. You are right; the weird dress is totally beside the point.

  • Anonymous

Ugly, ugly dress, I don’t care for her hair here but she still is working it fierce and fab.

  • Anonymous

Iman could wear a ratty old tshirt and a hula skirt and look amazing so I feel like her fashion choices don’t really count.  I don’t love this dress. That top fabric is weird and really heavy-looking.

  • Pennymac

I have nothing to say about the awesome fierceness of Iman, especially since my nose and forhead are in the carpet while I’m bowing the fuck down.

  • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

Agreed. The dress is awful but Iman is Iman.

  • Anonymous

Not a huge fan of the dress, either.  The halter criss-crossing the off-the-shoulder neckline is making my eye twitch. It would bug the crap out of me if I wore it.

Iman, however, looks amazing in it. She is so stunning.

  • CQAussie

Iman brings it to the next level.  All hail.

  • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

Good god, that woman is ageless.

  • Anonymous

    she’s amazing!

  • oohsparkley!

Iman totally over shadows that dress.  You don’t even care that the dress is too fussy.  She rules.  I bow down.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

This woman must have one ugly-ass portrait in her attic.

  • http://profiles.google.com/claudiaberry Claudia Berry

    Bowing down happily and gratefully!

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Once again Iman gives a clinic on how it should be done.

  • Anonymous

I just couldn’t wait to scroll down & read your comment guys.  I knew exactly what was coming, and still I couldn’t wait.  Squee!

  • http://twitter.com/RobertSanchez36 Robert Sanchez

She probably could have removed the necklace before she left the house, but she is werqing the you-know-what out of that dress. And her makeup and dress look amazing.

  • Anonymous

Fabulous! She is amazing, she could make a sack of burlap look amazing. I don’t know how she does it, she transcends almost anything she wears to make it look gorgeous. In fact, I agree that I hate this dress, but she looks fabulous. How does she do that???

  • Rand Ortega

    OMG.
    Can’t… seem to… bow… down…
    *Faints*

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UG4ZUN6WRU57HLCAUKDFKWKCLY Allison

Can’t speak. Busy bowing the fuck down.

Doesn’t matter what Iman is wearing, lady is FEE Roshe.

  • Anonymous

The dress is fug. But Iman transcends clothes. Bowing down as per request.

  • Anonymous

The dress is fug. But Iman transcends clothes. Bowing down as per request.

  • Anonymous

She can’t be human. No mere human can wear that dress and look exquisite.
Look at the line of her body, red carpet wannabees. All of you, take note.

  • Anonymous

Does she have extra vertebrae in her neck or something?  I’m bowing, I’m bowing!

    • Anonymous

I was just thinking that if I saw these on another site I would think they were photoshopped; her neck is SO long!

  • Anonymous

I believe she could pull off a polyester powder blue leisure suit, with the Mr. by her side in matching peach.   I have bowed down so quickly I think I may have a nosebleed…

  • MilaXX

    WERQing it!

  • Anonymous

The only reason this dress works is because Mrs. Bowie is in it.  That and the color which looks fabu on the timeless Iman.  Such a gorgeous, regal creature.

  • Anonymous

Yeah. There’s modeling. And then there’s Iman: the model from another planet.

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Having a hard time arguing with that.

  • Anonymous

Why do you always resort to profanity when a woman looks really great?

  • Anonymous

Her face is so smooth.  She looks like my favorite Barbie from when I was a kid.

  • http://twitter.com/applecocola Stacy

Oh, Mrs. Bowie! How I wish we could all be like you! Please bestow thy grace unto me, so that I may too become worthy.

  • Anonymous

Hate the dress but it really doesn’t matter because she looks amazing anyway.

  • Anonymous

I’m still getting over the fact that this woman is my age. Damn.

  • Anonymous

    david.bowie.drag.

  • elzatelzabelz

I don’t really like the dress. But, MAN, she is working the heck out of it. Fierce isn’t enough, WERQ isn’t enough, bowing down.

  • Anonymous

I knew you were going to say that, TLo.  I’m bowing the fuck down.

  • http://twitter.com/poptartsjen Pop Tarts Jen

    I am not worthy!!!

  • Anonymous

I will most certainly bow down but Mr. Posen better be first, ahead of all of us, because Iman made his ugly ass dress stunning.

  • penn collins

    She needs minions.

    • Melvis Velour

Oooh!  Me, me, me!  But only if I get a fabulicious wardrobe out of it…

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

    Holy Effing Shit.
She is one of the single most gloriously beautiful human beings ever to be born.  And her innate fierceness, only adds to the total.

  • up with pod people

I GUESSED THE REQUEST AT FIRST SCROLL. Forever goddess.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jane-Morris/1076502799 Jane Morris

Love that hair thing she has going on.

  • Anonymous

As usual, Iman rocks and Zac Posen proves he’s a talentless hack.

  • Anonymous

As I scrolled down, I actually said aloud, “BOW THE FUCK DOWN.”  I am incredibly pleased that we’ve come to the exact same conclusion.

    God, I love her.

  • Anonymous

I am bowing the fuck down.

  • Melvis Velour

No wonder Zac is in financial trouble, this dress is awful but Iman is just unbelievable…she could make a flour sack look like it had been styled by Coco Chanel.

  • http://twitter.com/Bloodisea Barbora

    Amazing woman :)))

  • foodycat

I am so happy she didn’t get the “no jewellery, it’s a recession” memo that everyone else red carpet adjacent seems to have had. She makes butt curtains stylish.

  • Anonymous

Not crazy about the dress, but man that woman is amazing!  She’d make an old, tattered bathrobe look fantastic.

  • Cathy S

Love the color, hate the gown. My god, but she’s gorgeous.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, there’s a lot going on with that dress, but the bitch still looks fabulous.

  • Anonymous

    BOWING.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_66KPZ36LMHMRQOX3HIJGHRNNUA MandyM

Yeah, Iman can get away with wearing Zac Posen. Mere mortals could never do it like her.

  • sweetlilvoice

She looks so yummy. Where is David? Is he off holding her purse?

  • Anonymous

    We are not worthy.  *Bows*

  • Anonymous

    Word for word reaction:
“holy shit she looks incredible, please be my holiday barbie!”

    Wowzers. Love her in red.

  • Anonymous

How old is she now?  50?  I hate the dress, the jewelry and hair but I still bow down.

  • vix eljay

Awesome, I called it before the scrolldown.  “Bow the fuck down” after seeing the first pic.  She can do no wrong.

    • http://karensbooksandchocolate.blogspot.com/ Karenlibrarian

Me too!  Though my thought was actually, “Bow down, bitches!”  But it’s close enough for me!!

  • Anonymous

On anyone else, that dress would look silly but on Iman??  Fucking fierce, y’all

  • Anonymous

Zac Posen is lucky she wore their high-priced shmatta.  She makes that nouveau riche wreck look elegant.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matthew-Vella/666619877 Matthew Vella

She looks like a gorgeous aggressive piece of meat, in a good way.

  • http://inkblotphotography.blogspot.com/ Cate

“She requests that you bow the fuck down in her presence.”
    *DEAD*

  • http://www.facebook.com/mattbailer Matt Bailer

As soon as I saw “Iman has one simple request” and then saw the pic, I KNEW when I scrolled down that the request was going to be that we bow the fuck down.  And I was right.  And so were you.  Luv. Huh.

  • frankystein123

    Speechless.
