Lady Gaga’s Crayola Fashion

Posted on November 17, 2011

While in London, Steffi seems to be all about making the bold color statements.

And also about wearing pink sperm hats.

Is it us or is Hot Ginger Handler taking a little better care of himself lately? Could it be our love from afar has engendered the use of moisturizers? We like to think so.

Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Simone Carvalho

Anyway, we love the dress. The hat? Well, let’s just say she’s the only person on the planet who can get away with a pink sperm hat. Which we suppose means she’s duty bound to wear it.

Suddenly… YELLOW!

Osman Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Kristel Van Valkenhoef

It’s usually pointless to critique Gaga’s fashion choices, but we’re going to go ahead and say we don’t like the metallic gold paired with this shade of yellow. The dress is surprisingly simple for her (although she managed to make it look more complicated than it is).

And then…BLUE!

She’s very theme-oriented, our Steffi.

Definitely using moisturizers.

Osman Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Fanny Francois

These are, again, two relatively simple pieces that she manages to make look edgier than they are, just because she’s wearing them. We’re a little surprised her shoes aren’t blue, but this is probably one of our favorite of her recent getups.

She’s one of the few people who has made a Roksanda Ilincic gown work, as far as I can see.

    That hat is dumb.

    • Anonymous

Now, see, I kind of dig the hat but the gown doesn’t work for me.

    • Anonymous

I think it looks really shapeless on her but agreed that if Roksanda Ilincic can work for anyone it would be GAGA. Its actually pretty surprising that Ilincic is taking over the red carpet .

      • Anonymous

I wish she woulda hemmed it. It would have made a difference, I think. Also I wouldn’t be cringing, watching her step right on it.

    • Anonymous

It’s crazy, I know, but I rather like the hat. Not on anyone else for any other occasion, but here…it seems to work. –

I wonder how much luggage she has when she travels.

    • Anonymous

I like to imagine enormous steamer trunks.

  • Gorgeous. I wish I could dress like this for my job — so fun!

  • That first dress is too damn long and hangs on her like a sack.  It looks much better on the model.  Don’t like the yellow dress, do love the royal blue, especially with the gloves.

Hot Ginger Handler knows the eyes of TLo and the Bitter Kittens are upon him.

PS – the fashions are great, but j’ADORE her eyewear!

Re:  Hot Ginger Handler–either he’s heard the Daddies, or it could just be the damp air of London . . . .

Love the yellow and blue looks. I don’t mind the gold shoes with the gold-rimmed glasses. That makes it come together for me. HGH has some competition from HHH….hot hairless handler in leather no less. Yummy.

    • had to go back and lookie ….ooo yes yummy HHH in Leather, made this unborn fawn purrr

    • Anonymous

I think HHH is a lot hotter than HGH and I’m also a gingie . . . woman, that is, so what the hell do I know anyway? HGH has ugly shoes that should not be worn with jeans.

    • Pam Winters

      HHH has lovely eyes.

    • oohsparkley!

I’ll board that HHH train too.

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

I love that there’s nothing remotely Gaga about the first dress and clearly it was chosen just to go with the sperm hat.

  • BerlinerNYC

The blue outfit looks chic as hell, especially with how it’s accessorized. As Patsy said on AbFab, “You can never have enough wigs, gloves, and sunglasses.” Or something like that. (Even Ke$ha could have remembered the word accessories.)

  • Anonymous

I like the sperm hat much more than the dress that goes with it. As you say, she’s probably the only one who could pull it off (though not the only one who’d try to), so why not go ahead and wear it?

The yellow is okay, though I agree that the color is weird with the shoes.

The blue is fabulous, especially those gloves. I really like her hair in that one too. Not sure if it’s the lighting or what, but it seems less… dingy than it has been.

  • MilaXX

Love the first dress except for the sperm hat, I don’t like the shoes with the yellow dress either and I think it makes her look hippy. Love the blue pants suit.

    Yayy for Hot Ginger.

  • Anonymous

Love the heart-shaped sunglasses on her.  And am kind of loving the pink sperm hat on her, actually.

  • Judy_J

The giant sperm is so Gaga….was it designed ‘specially for her?  I love that blue pantsuit.

  • LOVE the sperm hat outfit. 🙂

  • This new terribly chic with a touch of wacky Gaga is my favorite of all the Gagas. She looks fab.

  • Anonymous

I’m enjoying this toned down (for Lady G) phase she’s going through. She looks cute and quirky for once rather than I AM TRYING DESPERATELY HARD TO LOOK WEIRD AND ARTY.

  • Anonymous

Hot Ginger, a real laugh, lemon meringue pie, and Bonny Blue. What’s not to like?

I don’t understand how Ginger and BaldGuy can keep such straight faces. I’m waiting for the day the paparazzi snare a picture of someone cracking up with laughter at one of her outfits.

    • Anonymous

They probably do a quick run to the, er, powder room every morning to get it out their systems, right after their boss comes downstairs.

  • Anonymous

I miss Lady Gaga’s war on pants.

  • Anonymous

If she really wanted to be subversive and shocking, she’d wear flats.

  • Anonymous

Love that crazy hat!  The length of the first dress looks like an accident waiting to happen — as for the blue, it’s okay except that I hate pooling at the ankles pant hems.  So unattractive.

  • Love the first and third outfits. Not feeling the yellow dress, especially with her coloring.

    • Anonymous

Pale yellow is definitely not Gaga’s color.

  • Anonymous

TLo…..honeys….you all LIKE that first dress?  The top part looks and fits like the old smocks we would wear during art class in elementary school and it looks like she’s juuuussst about to trip on the pink part tacked onto the smock.  And what is Gaga doing with her fingers in that first pic?  Milking them?

The blue outfit is gorgeous, and I love the gloves and glasses that go with it.  Pure eye candy.

    • She looks great in the pant suit. Work it girl, while you can.

  • Anonymous

    OMG she is fucking AMAZING.

  • Anonymous

Who’s the guy sucking lemons in the Yukon Cornelius hat in the first photo? Too funny. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Gaga getups! The first dress looks too big on her but the Yellow! and Blue! ensembles are beautiful and she’s just rocking the hell out of those gloves. Flawless.

    • That guy looks like he’s going ice fishing while Gaga is running around town in sleeveless outfits! Isn’t it December in London, too?

  • Guys, guys, guys. Hot Ginger, really? When Shaved-Head-Guy is lurking so deliciously in the background?

  • Anonymous

    Hot Ginger IS a moisturizer.

  • Anonymous

Hot Ginger is getting ready for the Tin Tin premier!

  • I was digging her “coming out of a Prague nightclub at 5 am” Eurotrash look. I’m tired of silly.

  • Anonymous

I suspect Princess Beatrice could give Lady G a run for her money in the sperm hat department; after what she wore to the royal wedding, anything is possible.

I agree, HHH is pretty hot, too, although HGH has that je ne sais quoi that makes him truly adorable.  He’s a fairly small man, isn’t he?  He must know all kinds of great martial arts moves or something to make him such an effective star handler, considering that they’re usually large and imposing (like HHH, who is more representative of the breed).  I think HGH knows the Daddies have been keeping an eye on him, though!

Oh, Gaga’s outfits?  The Ilincic is too long and shapeless, although it does give her an excuse to wear that crazy sperm hat; the yellow is pretty dull, for Gaga; and the blue is fabulous.

  • Anonymous

    I’m over it

    • Anonymous

Me too, for a while now.

  • Loving the blue get up but can I just say those nails are killing me. I get she’s Gaga and all that but I shudder every time I see the claws.

  • Anonymous

For that first shot, all I can think of is how hard brick is to walk on in heels, especially platform heels.  I know she pulls off amazing feats of heel wearing and platforminess, but bricks are a bitch.

  • Anonymous

“Tlo said: And also about wearing pink sperm hats.”

I think it’s nice that sperm are showing their support for breast cancer awareness.

  • Aside from the fact that she appears to be treading on her hem in the first picture, I think she makes some rather ugly/boring clothes look dramatic. Which I guess is exactly what you said, except better.

  • Sara-Ann Collins

If you are wearing ridiculous platforms and still stepping on the front of you dress then it is time to get it fitted.

    • Anonymous

If you are still wearing ridiculous platforms, you’re no longer at the forefront of fashion–you’re standing in front of a backwater Famous Footwear.

  • Anonymous

Hot ginger handler is hot.  Never would have noticed him if you all hadn’t pointed him out.

  • Anonymous

J’Adore the blue outfit!  It makes me cringe that she’s in the process of stepping on the green/pink dress though.  Considering the shoes she wears, I’m surprised she doesn’t fall down more often. (or maybe she actually HAS good balance, unlike me.)

Oh, and our Hot Ginger Handler IS looking good these days!  Maybe he’s actually getting some sleep now and again.

  • Anonymous

With that dress or not, I actually love the gold (brass? brown? Depends on the light) shoes. Know why? Because the minions are always complaining about hoof shoes, but if you look at the way the light hits the platform in the full-front picture, they actually literally look like hooves. (I should know, I worked in horse barns for years). This pleases me no end.

  • Anonymous

Love the blue. Hot Ginger Handler must be fans of TLo. See how you’re improving the world one Hot Ginger Handler at a time?

  • Anonymous

She looks terrific in everything. But that long trailing front hem is annoying the crap out of me. And I’m still not a huge fan of shoes that remind one of pig’s trotters. But oh well, it’s Gaga.

  • Anonymous

Hot Ginge Handler is looking better and must have gotten hooked up with a Kiehl’s account or something. He’s also dressing phenomenally better than Steffi!

  • Anonymous

My god, this is nice stuff.

  • Anonymous

Sorry, guys, but that first dress is seriously awful. On anyone. I kinda dig that hat, though. 🙂

  • Anonymous

I want a sperm hat!  Santa, honey, take note.

  • There’s a hot bald handler lurking too!

  • I used to have hair like that… when I was 5 and got out of the bathtub… when i wasn’t using it, it was called a towel….

  • M Carlson

I wish she’d move away from those platform heels. She could choose so many other fabulous shoes and she seems bound and determined to wear something with the same platform-high heel combo all the time.

  • I don’t like the hair, but I love the clothes!

Who am I kidding; I’m just grateful she is wearing clothes.

  • Love the yellow and the blue outfits.  Agree about the gold metallic shoe.

  • I fear for her ankles in those gold platforms + cobblestone streets. I actually love the blue outfit, especially the top.

  • She’s so Dr. Seuss! And she can pull it off! Love the blue and the pink and green. I’d like to think of the hat as a drip of paint.

  • spooki C

I can’t decide if I like the blue outfit or the teal and pink outfit more. I kinda love that pink hat.

  • Jessica Rowe

    Chris Farley reincarnated.

  • Anonymous

Look at her feet in the blue outfit.  Don’t they look weird?  Like they’re bound or something.  That heavy, heavy platform matched with a spindly heel is not my cup of tea.
Love the sperm hat!  So fun.

  • I’m just not digging that yellow on her.

  • Anonymous

Love the blue, hate the sperm hat. Yellow is flattering.

  • Anonymous

That blue outfit is great on her; such a good color for her.
I really appreciate her wacky style, but I love it even better when she manages to choose something that’s also flattering.

  • The shoes in the last outfit make her look like she has hooves.

  • Anonymous

That first dress is an OUT.  It’s too big and too long.  The blue outfit is very Willy Wonka, as in Violet Beauregarde.

  • Anonymous

When your sperm is pnk, call the doctor.  Regardless of where it ends up…..

  • Anonymous

It bugs me so much that the first dress is pooling on the floor. It looks sloppy and it isn’t like she can’t afford to get things altered.

  • Ginger Handler’s looking fit because he’s in a ginger’s natural habitat. As soon as they leave the UK, it’ll all go back as it was.

  • Anonymous

I am not feeling the greying blond wig and brows

  • Anonymous

    I love that gown! Amazing.

  • Win, win, win!  She is getting chicer. Seriously. I know others who think she is a joke might disagree, but she is going way more Tilda lately and leaving the wanna-be’s (you heard me Katy P.) in the dust. I love these three looks but will agree with you that strangely, gold shoes do not go with yellow. hmmmm…

That blue is gorgeous. The others are fine, not my favourites. She was on a chat show last night here and she had black on, then grey and orange, then bright pink. So she’s certainly on a colour kick.

Which leads me to the comments I read in various places about her taking herself too seriously. That’s several chat show appearances I’ve seen that contradict that and last nights in particular. Very few big name stars would go on a chat show and take part in a cooking skit and merrily bash the blazes out of a chicken breast with a frying pan – wearing couture of course. She’s very dead pan, but she’s got a wicked sense of humour.

  • Anonymous

why does she always insist on wearing stupidly high heels? is she insecure about her height? what if she just changed it up for a day and wore an amazing pair of flats? whoa.

  • Anonymous

I feel like judging silhouettes and proportions on Steffi is like calling a Picasso chaotic (not comparing her to Picasso).  It’s supposed to be odd and wacky – the odder and wackier the better!  I like the crazy colors – as long as she doesn’t do black, I’m usually on-board.
