Lady Gaga in Chanel

Posted on November 22, 2011

And every little gay boy on the magic island of Manhattan braved the cold and lined up outside Barney’s just for a chance to sit on her lap and whisper their dreams and wishes in her ear.

To hell with Santa’s Workshop; who wants to go to Gaga’s Workshop with us?

Lady Gaga in ChanelLady Gaga attends Gaga’s Workshop Ribbon Cutting at Barney’s New York in a custom Chanel dress.

She’s a Chanel Christmas Angel, darlings! That outfit is so deliciously cray-cray that we can’t help but love it. They should make a Gaga Christmas tree topper that looks just like this.

Now, about this workshop… will Hot Ginger Handler be on hand as one of Gaga’s Little Helpers? Because we’d stand on line all day just to hear him order us around, especially if he’s made to wear tights and a funny little hat.

Do we think these lucky people appreciate the gorgeous creations they get to wear–for free, most of the time–or do they, as I suspect, take it for granted?

And how bout those shoes (what we can see)–or stilts?!

    • Anonymous

I suspect Gaga is grateful that she’s wearing something so fantastic.  Since it’s custom-made, she probably consulted on its design, so imagine she’s very convinced of how special it is.

The starlets who get dime-a-dozen Marchesa gowns through their stylists for red carpet events, and wear loaner shoes that are two sizes too big? They’re probably not as appreciative.

      • Anonymous

I just hope that lovely dress gets more than one outing.  It would be a shame to banish it to a closet.

        Those talons scare me.

        • Anonymous

I did a double take on those talons. I was cool with the whole look until I saw her nails.

        • Anonymous

She should set up a museum with all her old outfits someday. Someone should. I don’t know who owns all her outfits, but they should all be gathered together someday and put into some museum.

          • Anonymous

Saw her on Graham Norton and she said her outfits are stored and archived, except for her meat outfit.  That was jerked.

Just fantastic, and love the red claws, I mean nails. (I once tried wearing sunglasses inside and I crashed into everything.)

What you needed was a Hot Ginger Handler guiding you!

  • Anonymous

I love the dress and the event.  But dear God!  Her nails.

    • Sobaika Mirza

How do people function with such talons? I honestly am curious.

      • http://profiles.google.com/mmara00 M M

Lady Gaga does not have to ‘function’.

      • Anonymous

I am really not sure but she plays the piano wearing them.

You do everything with the pads of your fingers rather than the tips. It takes a lot of practice and I can’t be arsed to do it often, but it can be done.

        • Anonymous

Long nails are one thing — you can get used to functioning with them. But how the hell does she not scratch the crap out of herself with those spikes?

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=842859077 Cindy Lou

When I first saw them I thought they were part of the gloves and not her nails or talons or spikes or wuteva. Ya think?

LOVE the necklaces she’s wearing. I’m going to be stopping by there tomorrow because when I saw her being interviewed on GMA this morning I’d swear I saw a glimpse of the sunglasses she wears that I love (not the ones in these pictures – the ones that look like  oversized Wayfarers). I hope I wasn’t just hallucinating.

What a fabulous gown! Pure Lady Gaga and pure Chanel all at the same time. If only the white flower on the top of her head were either removed or a different color. I didn’t even notice the rest of her hat (tree topper?) at first.

  • Anonymous

Now THAT’S how you wear platforms under a gown.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

The Rapunzel hair and the red claws ruin the look.

    • Anonymous

the red claws are the worst! specially because they show so prominently coming out of the gloves….

    • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

I hate that hair so much.  It’s a horrible fried color and it just doesn’t work here.  I also cringe as I imagine her taking the jewelry off and finding each pearl and bobbin wrapped with 12 inches of broken blonde strands.

  • Eclectic Mayhem

Hot Ginger Handler seems to be giving ‘Blue Steel’ in that first shot.

  • MilaXX

The fingerless gloves and the red stiletto nails; with Gaga it’s all about the details. Love Her.

It’s like Toddlers & Tiaras: the Grown-Up Years.

Serious love, and totally in-season. I might have to make a mini version of that dress for one of my wacky ball-jointed dolls.

I was already eyeing which Barbie of mine was fierce enough to wear this look!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1589131702 Jenna Gordon

this bitch is crazy and i love her. seriously she looks like barbie grew up and developed a set. the talon fingernails are a nice touch.

  • Anonymous

She gives pearly angel wings for the good gays and the bottom of her bestudded boots for the bad ones.

  • Anonymous

Holy Guacamole. This is fantastic. So happy she’s been wearing actual clothes lately, without sacrificing her Gaga-ness.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

The Newt Gingrich banners on the site are kinda freaking me out.

  • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

It looses something in translation from drawing (which I find lovely) to actual dress (which I find surprisingly cheap looking and poorly shaped).  At least she’s not doing her strange “I have cramps/I’m now concave” pose here, but I can’t think of anything positive to say.  The necklaces all one length, the cheap trimmy looking belts wrapped tight to the waist….bleh.

I also want to shave her head.

  • Anonymous

How does she pee in that thing?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F3HKIK7MIJMBDAQBDWEAQDTXUM theneva

The same way the ladies at Versailles did: someone has to hold a bucket under that skirt for her to pee in.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

    Love it.
Also, anyone else think her shades are a nod to the Karl?

  • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Oh my God, her nails are sharpened to points. I don’t know why that strikes me as so funny, but it does.

I know damn near nothing about Gaga’s music, but I have to love how adventurously crazy she is.

    • Anonymous

I’d paid no attention to her until Tony Bennett recently released a CD of duets, one of which features Lady G in ‘Lady is a Tramp.’  The song is a lot of fun.  Girl can really sing, believe it or not.

      • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

“Girl can really sing, believe it or not.”

Who knew? I sure didn’t. I’ve heard Bad Romance a few times. I remember Rachel and Shelby singing one of her songs on Glee, but I can’t recall which one it was. But, seriously, that’s all I’ve heard of her music.

She’s so far past just being a singer. I think that, like Madonna, Gaga has real staying power. I have the sense that, unlike Madonna, she’s not a raging narcissist who’s going to turn into a total monster. (Pun not intended. Her fans are called Monsters, aren’t they?)

And I agree. “Lady is a Tramp” is a lot of fun.

        • Anonymous

The ‘Lady is a Tramp’ video is excellent!  She looks great in it.

  • Anonymous

With the gloves and the nails, her hands look like raccoon feet.

Seriously, the hair, the nails, the ridiculous shoes, and the sunglasses dumb down an otherwise potentially fabulous outfit for me.

Pier 1 Imports has a Lady Gaga Nutcracker you guys might love … or hate. :)  But I do love this nutty dress.  Brava!

  • http://twitter.com/ashinyoconnor Aisling O’Connor

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Marge reworks the Chanel suit.

She is wearing every accessory imaginable. If she followed Coco’s mantra, I wonder what she took off before she left the house.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

She doesn’t.  I would just love to hear what Coco would have to say about Gaga and Blake Lively in her clothes.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

I’d say she probably will say something about Gaga, but will pretend Blake Lively never happened.

        • http://twitter.com/ashinyoconnor Aisling O’Connor

I wish I could pretend Blake Lively never happened. And boney-face herself, Keira Knightley.

          • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Ha! Not that I actually have anything against Keira Knightley, but I can’t figure out why either she or Blake Lively is famous. I know Keira was in the first Pirate of the Caribbean movie, but I couldn’t tell you what else she’s been in if my life depended on it.

And Blake Lively’s level of fame, compared to her deserved level, is seriously out of whack. Apparently it’s a major deal that she doesn’t have a stylist. I think she needs to put one on retainer, STAT.

          • http://twitter.com/ashinyoconnor Aisling O’Connor

I just can’t stand Keira Knightley’s over acting and despise her further for adding her annoying face to a Chanel campaign.

          • Helen C

Comparing Keira Knightley to Blake Lively is kinda insulting to Keira Knightley.  The girl isn’t the greatest actress but has some fine moments, whereas Blake’s entire fame is based upon the fact she doesn’t hire a stylist (allegedly), Boobs Legly and dated Leo D for 2 months.

          • Anonymous

Keira Knightly has had a pretty solid list of movies over the last ten years. She’s not my favourite actress by any means but she’s worked constantly, and in some not bad films.
Blake Lively on the other hand, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in anything as I’ve never watched Gossip Girl.

Wait, Barney’s is going to donate 25% of its proceeds to the Born This Way Foundation? So she gets 25% of Barney’s profits on top of the money she already makes from the deal with Barney’s? I thought the Foundation was a foundation for her to organize giving away her OWN money to applicants, not something that needs to raise additional money.

    WTF?

It seems my criticism of the foundation being an unnecessary competitive agency in a resource limited area is validated. I hereby reinstate it.

Can’t believe this woman…At least the Chanel dress is nice.

    • Anonymous

She’s partnering with at least three other organizations, so why not Barney’s?

Today Echidna looks more like a Chanel Barbie birthday cake. Her speaking voice reminds me of Brenda Morgenstern.

The boys look nice in their suits…too bad someone is blocking HHH.  Gaga looks great except for the cupcake smushed on her head.

It would be an even fab-er hat with an off-white or smaller flower.

I don’t know why that seems importance given her pointy red nails poking out of black gloves, but somehow it does.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sierra-Delta/100003182924700 Sierra Delta

Gaga intrigues me.  I’m not her target demographic (I’m more than old enough to be her mother), but I admire her commitment to her art and to her fans.  There seems to be a genuine-ness about her that many pseudo celebs (Kim Kardashian anyone?) don’t convincingly convey.  I respect the Lady’s use of her star power to bring attention to people and causes many would prefer not to acknowledge.

I’m far too private to ever want her lifestyle — but I’d love to be able to rummage in her closet!

  • http://profiles.google.com/dchockeyguy Trevor Burroughs

I wondered if maybe we could sit on Lady Gaga’s lap and ask for HGH (not the drug) under our trees for Christmas. Imagine unwrapping THAT!

  • Anonymous

She looks FIERCE.  I definitely want to go to her workshop and ask that she fill my life with kooky fabulosity!

Hallmark should make an ornament of her, just like they do Holiday Barbie.  She should have a new tree-topper-ish dress each and every year.  (I have a small purple shiny Christmas tree that I put in my sewing room window…all it needs is some Gaga!!)

  • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

Super pretty, but god I hate long fingernails.  I just imagine all the dirt and germs and bacteria that get trapped under there, no matter how hard you scrub.

    Yucky.

I would totally buy that Christmas tree topper.

I actually like everything but the little dingleberry on the top of her head. Even the claw gloves.

That said, the outfit reminds me of those little dressed-up Jesus statues you see in religious stores.

My God, I want to GO!  I love that there’s makeup for boys and girls.

Also noted her absence from the AMAs.  I think perhaps she is above awards now.

A Chanel Christmas Angel with killer, blood red claws. Love it!

  • Anonymous

White flower on her head is too white or too large or both, otherwise she’s fabulous. I can see her standing in the white/off white/pearl/silver section of a Christmas store and blending right in, it’s like decor camouflage.

Not a fan of the hair when it covers the ropes o’ baubles. When that’s all I have to whine about, you know I’m quibbling.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1043171034 Tadiana Walton Jones

The dress is fantastic and I want to be able to wear it in my next life, but the red fingernails (I thought at first they were fake claws) and sunglasses are giving me an odd disconnect.  And the flower perched right on top of her head looks like a handle you can pick her up and and ring her with.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Love the dress and the piles of jewelry.  Dislike the headpiece, the nails and the hair.  But God she is faboo!

  • http://twitter.com/danielleRwest Danielle West

Her nails terrify me.  But that dress is killer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Cannon/1444597665 Michael Cannon

I’m just not feeling the Gaga thing. seems like everything she wears leaves her incapable of walking. How is that empowering?

    • Anonymous

Agree. These are costumes, not clothes. For all her wild style and “out-there” personality, I find her extremely uninteresting.

    • Anonymous

It’s a step up from the pantlessness and the running around in underwear, but that’s a pretty low bar, is it not?

  • http://twitter.com/AbbottRabbit AbbottRabbit

I love it. I love that it’s essentially a classic Chanel suit gone completely crazeballs.

I’m not the biggest Gaga fan in the world, but this got me. I love the poof, the softness (not typical of her), the playfulness. And she’s smiling! I want a pair of those insane claw gloves — for defensive purposes only, of course.

Wonderful, all of it. The glasses!!!

I think the claws are part of the gloves, check out photo #4.  The glove is not over the hand but you can see the claws resting on her wrist. So I do not believe they are actually on her nails. So all the comments about them being functional has an answer.

I will say the gown is fantastic in an only Gaga can wear it kinda way. I am a fan of medieval, renaissance and period clothing anyways…so I like the classic Chanel touch top with a period looking skirt. Makes me smile.

Agreed though, the hair is a mess!!!
