Janet Jackson for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia

Janet Privacy Control relinquished the latter two temporarily for the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. Wouldn’t you?

She’s always touching her face in pictures. It gets a little old after a while so it’s nice to see at least one shot where she’s doing the classic popped hip. That is not a dress for everyone, that’s for sure. But the color looks fantastic on her and all the foofaraw is perfectly editorial. Makeup is its usual flawless. What we love here is her hair, which hasn’t looked this good in ages.

Isn’t it time for Janet’s comeback?

Hair is fantastic. Love the dress. She looks amazing!

  • Anonymous

Yes, gorgeous color on her, fabulous hair.
She’s looking beautiful and in shape. It’s time, Janet!

These photos are the sole possible justification for that hideous dress. She looks wonderful.

    • http://inkblotphotography.blogspot.com/ Cate

she DOES. i look horrible in green, but i still want to try it after this. she looks AMAZING.

  • Jenna Kuhmann

I miss her so much!  She looks fabulous!

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Woo Hoo!  Janet baby you are looking totally Divalicious!

  • Anonymous

Love that green colour of her dress, she looks fab. I really want those hot pink shoes.

  • Mary Saucier

I stand by my belief that Janet Jackson is my Beyonce’. Luff her!

    • Anonymous

I’ve been thinking that for a while about Beyonce. She’s gorgeous and has a much better voice, but a lot of her videos make me think, “Miss Jackson called and wants her schtick back.” However, I’m sure someone said that about Janet back in the day, too.

As for this, love the colour, love the hair, HATE the dress. WTF, Tom Ford?

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Is Miss Jackson showing her legs??? What????

Girl is gorgeous, and that color is divine on her. More Janet, please!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Also, I want her hair. So bad.

  • http://twitter.com/SetMeOnFYYYYAH Miss World

she just doesn’t age. so gorgeous!

lol part of that green dress reminds me of one of viktor’s sheer numbers in his final collection. the upside down shiny rainbow part. idk what to call it!

    • Anonymous

You wouldn’t age either if you were photoshopped every day. She does look pretty.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, I think the plastic surgeon probably has more to do with it than Photoshop….

        • Anonymous

I would venture to say that it’s a joint effort. (Much more successful in her case than poor Michael.)

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

I miss her original nose.  But she does look hell-a fabulous.

      • http://twitter.com/SetMeOnFYYYYAH Miss World

any other celeb i would most likely agree but all you have to do is take a look at her public appearance photos. she is truly one of the ~flawless people~

i never discount plastic surgery however. one never knows for sure…

    • dinosaurshape

I thought the same thing!  http://wpc.4d27.edgecastcdn.net/004D27/ProjectRunway/PRS9FFF/PRS9FCVK+5.jpg

She’s looking great here!  Agree – love the green!  But best LOL of day – “Janet Privacy Control”!!!

  • MilaXX

I would love a slammin Janet Jackson come back. I love the pictures here, especially the makeup. That is one great smoky eye and the color is gorgeous on her.

Come on Janet, gimme a beat!

  • Anonymous

That is one hideously tacky dress, Tom Ford.

  • Brad and Anne White

She looks FAB. Dress is great for the magazine. Too much frippery for real life.

  • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

I’ll decide that based on her music, not her looks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=19801927 Dennis Coyle

how many comebacks would this be now for her?

  • Aaron Blair

I’m just happy to see her in a dress that doesn’t feature her breasts being smooshed together and then propped up under her chin.  That’s always been my biggest peeve about her later era fashions.  The breasts were ALWAYS smooshed together and then propped up under her chin.

  • Anonymous

“Tlo said: Isn’t it time for Janet’s comeback?”

    Yes, and she looks ready.

She looks gorgeous. I hate the dress, though it looks good, the way its cropped, on the cover. And that color looks great on her.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Oh, she’s so gorgeous and her hair is fierce as shit – please tell me her nose isn’t going the way of Michael’s. (last pic)

    • Aaron Blair

I think that’s just a bad angle/bad photoshopping, because it doesn’t look that way at all in the first picture.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Janet…Miss Jackson if you’re nasty!  LOVE!  Hope she is working on her come back.   (Though I could do without the Madonna boob cups)

  • Anonymous

I am so not a fan of the “I’m wearing my ’50s cone bra outside my dress” look.

    • Anonymous

me neither, but this is Michael Jackson’s sister we’re looking at here. not exactly a regular gal.

    • Anonymous

I have a vintage-esque shaper that resembles this dress waaaayy too closely.

    • Anonymous

I don’t mind it when it fits.  Dr. Who’s Miss Daisy pulled it off, for example.  But here, Miss Jackson’s cups runneth over, and it just looks wrong.

  • Anonymous

Love the hair.  Love the dress.  She looks awesome!

  • Rand Ortega

Where’d she go? She’s been touring this past year. She only took a break last week (cancelled some Australian dates) to be in LA for the Conrad Murray trial.
Movies, music, modeling– Janet’s still doing it all!

    • scottyf

      You. Are. So. FIERCE.

      • Rand Ortega

        Back Atcha!
Coming from the Crown Prince of FIERCE, I take that as an extreme compliment!

    • Anonymous

She’s playing the Sydney Opera House next week.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Can’t say it’s my favorite dress ever.  She looks amazing but I wonder if she’s getting a bit too old for things like the metallic boob plate…  There aren’t that many women that can carry on with that sort of style past 45 — the only ones I can really think of are Tina Turner and Cher.  As talented as Janet is (and I’ve always felt she by far the most talented of the bunch) she’s no Cher.

  • Joseph Lamour

Aren’t there more interesting places in Arabia to take pictures?

  • Anonymous

I don’t think Janet is capable of putting on something that doesn’t call attention to her boobs. I’m so over it.  The only thing worse than the face touching thing is the agressiveness with which those enhanced mammaries are nearly always the focus of whatever she’s wearing.

  • http://twitter.com/taijuuuh Taija HU!

I gasped a little. She looks faboosh!

  • Jessica O’Connell

Not so much a fan of the dress but the color really is fantastic and looks great on her.

  • Anonymous

I think that the bodice detail is a not-so subtle reference to her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.  Her expression and hair are echoes as well.

  • Anonymous

What a beautiful woman, and what a hideous dress.

It looks likes something dug out of mom’s closet, from that time when she took a sewing class as a twentysomething and tried to make something “high-fashion”.

  • Anonymous

I don’t love the dress — the cups are vulgar.  And Janet looks a little La Toya in the last picture.  But it is a very good color on her.

    • Anonymous

See my post a few minutes before yours – your gut impression reinforces my analysis!

  • Anonymous

Janet looks amazing (& great in that shade of green).  Stamp out those awful velvet underboob things & you’ve got a majorly fabulous dress.

PS: must have the hot pink ankle tie shoes on the model!!  T-Lo advice to avoid ankle straps be damned!  :)

  • Anonymous

Agree with most comments about the bust on the dress.  It’s tacky to present a breast outline…IMO.  Janet is totally rockin’ this green dress for what it’s worth.  She is awesome.

  • Anonymous

janet is pretty, but i am not liking the dress, color ok, i agree with some of the comments about the bust on the dress. do not like.

  • Anonymous

fabulous. love the dress, the color, the fit. Also, THIS is a good execution of the putty pump. the model’s shoes were jarring, but, here, Janet’s legs look a mile long.  make up and hair are flawless. she gives some good face.

might be time for her comeback – i was just thinking that it’s a crime i don’t have any Janet on my phone yet there is a good selection of Michael. time to rectify that!

  • Terence Ng

I think this dress would also look good on Jessica Lange.

  • Cathy S

Hate the breast cups. But she looks fabulous.

  • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

it’s a nice dress full on. when it’s cropped so all you can do is stare at the boobplates, all you can do is stare at the boobplates.

other than that, i think it’s great that she’s my age & she’s wearing a dress where all you can do is stare at the boobplates. when we were kids this would have been thought, at best, unseemly. now since everyone is trashy anyway unseemly has gone away. still it’s nice that a lot of stereotypes have gone w/ it.

  • Anonymous

She doesn’t look like Janet Jackson anymore. She looks like Michael or LaToya. Too much plastic surgery in that family.

  • Anonymous

She still looks like a girl when she smiles, :) dont love the dress, but the color is great on her and she is indeed werqing the shit out of it

  • Mariah J

Love the green, HATE the orange. She looks good.

  • Toto Maya

Loooove her hair, love the color of the dress. I have never seen her look this amazing.

  • Anonymous

I love everything except the little falsie boob cups on the dress. I find them really distracting. Other than that, gorgeous–green is my favorite color and (I feel) it rarely gets featured in this way.

  • Anonymous

The dress looks much better on the model, because she’s small enough that the cups fit her.  They look architectural and lingerie-esque, like they’re supposed to.  Janet’s better-endowed, so on her the embellishment looks like supersized pasties.

  • http://twitter.com/A_SmallFry AC

YES! It’s absolutely time for a Janet comeback!

  • Anonymous

DAMN i want that dress. and all of the Fordzies from Fall ’12. le sigh.

  • Anonymous

I am not a fan of that dress – at all – and she’s so beautiful and fabulous that it doesn’t matter.

THIS is what you are paying your stylists for, ladies (and gentlemen). A dress that works for you, hair and makeup that enhance and help you look awesome.

She’s always been beautiful (IMO), but she’s the rare beautiful woman who looks just as good AFTER her sugery/(ies) as before, albeit different.

I echo those who’ve said before me that they miss her original nose. Or at least the one I remember on her in her early 20’s, I don’t actually know/remember if that was the original.

  • Anonymous

    oh let’s face it..she looks fabulous!!!!…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

Message to Nina: this dress is “editorial” — Josh’s pathetic green tied shorts and pathetic cheerleader with a vest costume are not. To me, editorial means it’s an incredibly beautiful, intricate piece of clothing that photographs well but probably wouldn’t translate to real life. Thoughts?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QCJEZMOV4VYMXC5WJALLZNYEB4 Mari Rose

When she smiles like that, it’s like a day hasn’t passed since she played Penny on Good Times.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Huh, those half-cone cups are just like the ones on one of the sheer shirts in Viktor’s collection. I don’t like them in either piece, despite my love for Viktor, but found it interesting.
    Miss Jackson looks fab.

  • Anonymous

I was hoping you would post this! I think she looks amazing.

  • Anonymous

If I was really thin I would wear that dress EVERY DAY.

  • Anonymous

She looks modern for the first time in 20 years.  Love the dress, love the color, love the hair.  Hate the pose on the cover.  Someone teach this girl how to smolder.

  • Anonymous

She looks fabulous, good for her.  That dress is all kinds of fierce.

  • Anonymous

That’s a really weird dress.  Definitely editorial, but definitely “one too many ideas” and not something you’d expect to see in real life.

I like her hair–kind of a longer Tina Turner thing working.

  • Anonymous

Amazing until I scrolled to her tits. Too much. Otherwise she looks Fierce.

  • Anonymous

Amazing! She is definitely bringing that “Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty” fierceness that has sorely been missed. Bravo.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

It is always time for Miss Jackson’s comeback. My god she is cute.

  • Anonymous

That is one hell of a wig, and she’s werqing it.

That said, I do NOT understand why Tom Ford is allowed to design for women. Clearly he has no idea what he’s doing.

  • Anonymous

Damn Janet, you’re looking mighty fine! Best I’ve seen you look in ages, honey. This is the only time I can imagine that dress looking so good.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Donna-Lynn/514336583 Donna Lynn

Those are some sad, sad eyes in that last photo. Looks almost like the photographer caught her at a more candid moment between posted shots.
