In or Out: Maggie Gyllenhaal in Alexander McQueen

Posted on November 01, 2011

We came down pretty hard on Maggie the other day. We’re not sure, but “smells like nursing home pee” may have been the harshest thing we’ve ever said about an actress’ red carpet look. She deserves a prize for that. Instead, we’re going to assess her a second time, but gently.

And can we just say? We like Maggie, as much as you can like someone you don’t know at all, and we appreciate her off-the-beaten path kind of style. But we get very sad when we see her pair things badly or not completing the detailing on an outfit. See, that’s the thing: a lot of people think they only need to pick something weird and off-beat, but the rules remain the same. You pick the garment, and then you make decisions about shoes, jewelry, bag, hair, and makeup. A lot of the quirkier types in the style world miss that second half of the process, thinking you only need one statement-making garment to complete a look. This is our main issue with Maggie.

Although this time, she picked a relatively simple and classic white gown. What she didn’t pick is a BRA and that is making us sad. So close, Maggie. A simple white gown, an up ‘do, some hoop earrings. Not the most forward-thinking look in the world, but it can get any gal through the night if she doesn’t have the time to fuss with herself. But sweetie, we hate to sound whiny here, but you have to wear a bra with this dress. This is part of your secret ability to instantly make anything you wear, even an evening gown with a halter neckline, look like something a septuagenarian would wear. The hair’s not great in any instance, but when you combine it with the drooping boobage, you instantly add about 25 years to your age.

Such a simple, pretty dress. All you had to do was wear a bra, honey. Is that so hard? If nothing else, do it for McQueen. It’s what he would have wanted.

Vote Now!
IN! It’s simple and classic and that’s a step in the right direction!

OUT! She couldn’t even get a white dress right without screwing it up?

Joely Richardson’s Christmas wrapping dress got a firm IN by the kittens, while Jessica Biel’s similarly themed Christmas tree-topper dress got an equally as firm OUT.

Is that a baby bump I see?

But yeah, she has bra issues unlike any other. I was practically yelling at the screen by the end of Sherrybaby.

    • Liana Brooks

      That’s what I was wondering…

    • Sara Munoz

Preggers? I doubt it. It’s just a combination of bad posture and lack of proper foundation garments.

      • Deitra S.

Agreed!  Her chronic bra-lessness is made even worse by the fact that she can’t seem to stand up straight.  GAHHHH!  So frustrating.

        • Anonymous

Have you thought about changing your icon to Quinn? Using Daria to comment on celebrity fashion just seems terribly ironic.

          • Deitra S.

Yes, and I rather relish the irony.  I see your point, but believe me when I say that Daria is far more appropriate for my personality 😉

    • marlie

I totally think it’s a baby bump. Even more reason to wear a bra!

      • Anonymous

It’s a baby bump! People said so yesterday.

  • Dana WhatTheFrock

I need to give her an IN just because this is such an improvement. But not only does she desperately need a bra, she also needs new shoes. Black pointy pumps with this? A world of NO.

Still. It’s a beautiful dress and I want to be nice to her, so IN.

  • lilibetp

    Out.  And down.  Oy.

  • Elena

I have to say out. Not wearing a bra with a dress like this irks me.

  • Aaron Blair

The fug girls posted this with some speculation about her being pregnant, so I was paying more attention to the stomach area of the dress, on their post, but as soon as I saw the pictures on here, I knew, even before I got to the commentary, that TLo would point out the lack of bra.  It’s pretty egregious here.  Her breasts are not that far away from the aforementioned stomach area, thanks to the lack of support, and that’s never a good look for anyone.

  • Susan Collier

Like the dress, but feel like they need a lighter colored or metallic shoe or sandal. Or am I showing my age with that comment. And yes, “Wear a bra, dear!”

    • Christy Maxedon Morrison

Yes, a bra. If she isn’t pregnant the droopsy boobsy makes her look like she is.

  • Anonymous

Terrible. OUT. The accessories are horrendous.

  • Liana Brooks

OUT – hair is a mess, no bra, and she looks… Look, if it were prom night in rural Kansas I wouldn’t let a girl walk out of the house looking this frumpy. Just NO on so many levels.

  • Charlotte Horseman

You are right about the bra – but overall, she looks really lovely here.  I’ll give her an IN.

  • Anonymous

Close, but still out (but all lowercase).  It would have been very flattering (an all uppercase IN for me if she only had a bra).

  • Melissa Della

Great big meh. Dress is so pretty, but the styling is awful and you can’t get away with having more than a flat chest and not wearing a bra in that. OUT.

  • Eric Scheirer Stott

She does not have the posture this dress needs, and her “Oh, well…” expression isn’t helping.

  • Anonymous

I’m out on this. She never looks like she wanted to change out of her sweats.

  • Anonymous

I’m splitting my vote. The dress gets an IN.

Maggie in the dress gets an OUT. We’re going to have to start calling her Granny Gyllenhaal.

  • Anonymous

she clearly has really awesome tits, and i’m generally all for showing them off if it’s appropriate, it’js ust that the rc isn’t that place. i do think we should give her an IN tho, in order to boost her spirits and nudge her in the right direction.

  • enuma

Just looking at these pictures is causing me phantom boob pain.

  • Christy Maxedon Morrison

She has the weirdest shoulder hunch in all the pictures that I see of her. I want to stick a yard stick down her back and a book on her head.

    • Anonymous

I agree. Her posture does nothing to help her look good in clothing, and it contributes to her droopy-boob syndrome.

  • Laura Schultz

    Yeah. OUT.

  • Anonymous

Gotta support your girls.  Up & in, I always say!
Regardless, I have to give her an in.  I’ve loved her unfailingly since I saw The Secretary years ago.

    • Anonymous

      Me too!

  • Anonymous

I forgive the lack of bra, barely.

  • Vaniljekjeks

Out!  She looks so saggy it’s tragic.  Someone get the girl some good underwear!

  • Dave

Her left wrist gets an IN.

    • Anonymous

I love the cuff/bracelet, it’s gorgeous. This was so close to an in, why must you vex us so Maggie?

  • Smart

OUT.  I do love her acting and her refusal to conform to the Hollywood Barbie plastic mold, but you’re right – quirky still requires attention to detail.  I also believe she’s pregnant again, and pregnancy boobs in particular really need support.

  • Democracy Diva

Out, because we all know that supporting the twins is the key to red carpet gold.

  • Judy_J

She needs a refresher course in foundation garments.  The right bra can do wonders for the way you look.  Well, that and good posture.  She needs to work on both.  But I do love that dress; it’s gorgeous.  I’m going to give her a very weak in for the dress alone.

  • Anonymous

She got more right this time than wrong. In. And not just because the nursing home pee comment was way harsh.

  • Anonymous

Support garments are a girl’s best friend!

  • Anonymous

The saggy boobs and pot belly…eek!  Redneck territory.

Hike them puppies up there girl…it’d made a world of difference.  Her makeup isn’t working for me either…hate the red lip and the blah eyes.  She needs to do the opposite…play up her beautiful eyes and soften her lip.

    • Anonymous

      Pretty sure she’s preggers.

  • Anonymous

She never wears a bra…what’s up with that? I remember Nina Garcia saying something similar in the PR ‘dress Nina’ challenge. Seems like such an odd choice. Maggie woulda killed this w/a bra. Perhaps we should blame McQueen for not building in the necessary supportage?

  • Anonymous

also, i object to the commentariat going in so hard (thus far) on maggie’s supposed “saggy” breasts … these are completely normal, pretty great REAL lady boobs. we as a society tend to forget what larger-sized real tits look like bc tjere is so much surgical enhancement (even if they’re real, they’ve been lifted). her boobs are certainly nicer than mine, and more than respectable even in hollywood. so let’s maybe veer away from picking apart her non-existanylt mammary-based flaws. she needs a bra bc the size of her breasts is done a disservice by the line, fabric, and cut of the dress. they themselves, however, are a-ok.

    • Anonymous

No one is criticizing her breasts. We are criticizing her lack of a bra. It’s different.

  • Anonymous

If nothing else, do it for McQueen. It’s what he would have wanted.

I will give Maggie a tiny prop for moving in the right direction.  Now, if she had just taken TLo’s gentle admonition, quoted above, she would get my full-fledged in.

  • Anonymous

Lowercase out. She always has bra issues, it seems to me.

  • Deitra S.

Oh, Maggie.  She’s such a wonderful actress, but terminally round-shouldered and perpetually braless.  But I still want to give her an “In” here for so many things that are right.  I love the hair, make-up, dress, and accessories (except for the shoes), but the droopiness makes it more of an “ehn” than an “in.”  So sad :(

  • Goldie

Actually, I think if she would stand up straight and quit hunching her shoulders she might not need a bra so desperately.  Even in that fourth picture where she seems to be leaning back, her shoulders are hunched forward.  The shoulders need to be back for the girls to stand up.

  • Anonymous

IN. But only if she promises to go to a speciality bra store where they do fittings.

  • Anonymous

I was so close to giving it an in.  BUt I think more than the bra it’s her posture.  She needs to stand up straight and OWN the look.  She always looks like she’s trying to hide just a little bit, which I get, but if you’e a movie star, you have to BE a movie star.  Maybe some yoga – life and then tuck those shoulder blades into her back pockets.

  • Anonymous

The first thing I thought of while looking at the pictures was “she needs a bra”.  Sorry, Maggie, you’re OUT!

  • Anonymous

Is it just the standard MG poor posture or is she 3 months pregnant?

    • Anonymous

also – to be clear – you cannot slouch and have saggy tits and receive an IN from me.  Which is a shame, because it is a beautiful gown.

      So – OUT.

  • Anonymous

A bra and a real smile would have made a lot of difference. It’s a beautiful, classic dress and she’s wearing it like clothes hanger.

  • Anonymous

Not loving the black pumps with this dress. And yes, she needs a bra. This would have been an In otherwise.

  • Judy S

IN if she’s pregnant, out if not. How’s that for prejudice?

  • marlie

It’s an ‘in’ from me. She would have gotten an ‘IN!’ had she worn a bra.

  • Anonymous

    Undergarments need love, too.  OUT.

  • Anonymous

Oh honey – show the girls some respect. The minute I saw her, I was channeling Aretha.
She just ruined the dress and jewelry with the lack of foundation garments, bad posture and black shoes. out.

  • Vickie Lord

You can see she hates red carpet events…but if you’re going to go, then make the effort…
She’s a character actress, always has been and will continue to be I’m sure, so I give her a little tiny in.
The bra would have made it an IN!

  • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

IN. Bra or not, this is pretty damn good.

  • Bridget Dierks

OUT.  There comes a time in every woman’s life in which a bra is forever a must. We cannot remain perky forever, unfortunately.  It seems Ms. Maggie has reached that point and failed to notice.

That said, at least her ladies are real.  If they were fake they’d be shaped like balloons.

    • Anonymous

Puh-leeze. While I think she either needed to wear the bra or forgo the dress (some dresses were just not meant for busty girls), those are easily the tits of a 20 year old. They are perfectly perky, they’re just not a-cups.

  • Anonymous

    Overall an in.

  • Anonymous

If she isn’t pregnant, going out looking this way, provoking so much talk? Bad. Bras are your friends.

And the shoe doesn’t work either.

    • Anonymous

I thought she looked pregnant too. I hate jumping that conclusion but she left no choice.

      • Anonymous

I went back and looked at the photos … Is it possible her bad posture is making her look pregnant? Boy if that is the case out, out, out!

  • Anonymous

I….I can’t even speak about this, so weary am I of her ‘style’.  I adore her in movies.  But she keeps breaking my heart on the RC.

  • Anonymous

Out. It’s so close! You’re spot on about the bra, T Lo. If her girls were higher up, she’d look younger, fresher and In-ner.

  • Erin

You bitches call it again: OUT.  Hell to the yes on the bra, and while she’s at it, she should maybe get one of those posture-correcting ones.  Also, how about that bitchface/talk to the hand in the middle pic?  Her Creativity, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent are glowing through the cracks in the quirky-cute.

  • Rachel Lee

The droopiness! Is giving me! Facial Twitches! Out!

  • Anonymous

Out…geez, can’t these people even think for themselves???…a bra should be a no brainer..

  • MishaFoomin

Out. Maggie, you are not young and firm. WEAR A BRA! Go to finishing school. Take the Remedial Posture class. Twice.

  • MilaXX

The thing I don’t get is if you have real boobs, are over 30 and/or had a child, wearing a bra is not an option. How does she not know that?

  • Barbara Guttman

Dear Famous Celebrity Ladies: there appears to be a chronic lack of ability to fit yourselves for a proper bra or find the proper bra for the occasion.  I understand!  As a difficult to find size myself, I have learned much about where to find excellent bras of many kinds and sizes.  I offer my assistance to you because clearly, many of you quite desperately need it.  I even know a lovely corsetiere who can help all of you with your terrible posture.   You seemed to have figured out spanx all on your own, but now it’s time to admit you need help.
I will be here for you.

  • Anonymous

I kind of love the “Bitch, please” pose in the third photograph. Put on a bra, pull your shoulders back, and slap on a money making smile. OUT.

  • Anonymous

I was thinking that same exact thing, and then you said BRA! Nailed it. Also, I’ve never seen a McQueen gown look so ordinary. Is it the dress? Or something else?

  • Jessica O’Connell

Yeah she doesn’t seem overly fond of bras, at least not good ones that keep her girls up. It would have been fine if not for that… OUT.

  • Anonymous

This is the best she’s looked in a while. In from me. I really don’t understand the outrage over the missing bra. Doesn’t bother me in the least.

  • Anonymous

Dear god, yes. Get this woman a bra!

That said… everything from the neck up is just as tragic.

  • CQAussie

Sure yes, she needed a bra.  But compared to what she usually goes out in – this is magnificent.  IN.

    Also…those shoes aren’t great either.

  • Anonymous

OUT. She definitely needs a bra. Also, the way the bodice pulls up right over her stomach is disconcerting – even with the slightest bit of a belly, it makes you look preggers.

  • Anonymous

IN. For her, this is as good as it gets. Besides, I don’t think the lack of a bra is the biggest problem here. It’s the slouch.

    • Anonymous

Agreed. Someone needs to shout at her:

‘Shoulders back! Chin up! Hips forward! For fuck’s sake, you’re beautiful!’

  • Jennifer Coleman

Actually, it’s a but more complicated. Because she has rounded shoulders, she should over-compensate her posture when being photographed, at least. She always looks like she’s slouching, although sometimes she isn’t. Also wearing a bra would definitely help  her posture. I like the dress on her and she could even look…regal, if she was properly accessorized and ‘posturized’ !

  • Anonymous

I think she looks lovely. Yes, a bra would have taken her from a 6 to an 8 but she still gets an in (just not one in caps lock)

  • Alloy Jane

Almost.  Oh so almost.  I mean, I get the whole “free ballin” thing, seeing as how this is how natural boobs can’t be perky forever, even if you’re flat.  But on the other hand, srsly?  YOU ARE WEARING MCFUCKINGQUEEN!!!  Couldn’t you? Just this once?  Put on a fucking bra????  I mean, you’ve forsaken nature for plastic surgery on your face, just do us a solid for once and commit to looking 100% nice.  Just once.  It won’t kill you, I swear.

I’ll give her a lowercase “in” based on the fact that she probably smells like gold bond powder as opposed to nursing home pee.  Relatively, it’s a vast improvement.

  • Anonymous

I think the thing she really needs to do is to be sat down for an hour by Miss. J from ANTM and given an hour’s lecture on how to walk, stand and pose on the celebrity red carpet. She’s so natural and beautiful and yet she spoils it all by standing as if she were a sack of potatoes.

  • Anonymous

Sadly, I must agree with the critique–this is an out.  Boring, droopy, and she’s too young and pretty to be looking like this.

  • Pat Biswanger

IN.  Step in the right direction.

  • Kerry McCombs

I don’t understand how any woman, ANY woman, can leave the house without a bra! It grosses me out actually. It’s the stuff of nightmares. You have to support your girls, girls!

    • Anonymous

OK, Mr. McCombs– The fact is that you don’t get to make that decision.  Many women choose not to wear bras; it’s their choice. And it often looks quite nice, although that’s hardly the point. If breasts gross you out and give you nightmares, you should be seeking advice, not giving it.

      Or–easy solution–just don’t look.

    • Anonymous

I’m pretty sure Kerry is not a Mr. from her photo and her name.   And I assumed that she was saying that the thought of leaving the house without her own bra would gross her out… but I am not going to put words in her mouth, I am sure she can respond on her own.

  • Anplica Fiore

    In enough…

  • Catherine Rhodes

Curious, I looked up her age — she is only 33! Sadly, she looks like a 60-something grandma (granted, one with beautiful skin who never went in the sun!). I can’t understand why she’s aging so poorly. It’s not just the poor wardrobe choices, it’s the (middle-age) weight gain, the drooping shoulders, the sagging bustline. It’s like she and Jennifer Aniston swapped — Jen looks 33 at 42 and Maggie looks 42 (or more) at 33. Anyway, I know this site is not supposed to be critical of body issues not related to styling. Which kind of is my point. If you know you’re not aging well, all the more reason to be really careful about clothing and styling choices to compensate.

  • Anonymous

She’s also not tall enough to stand with the model’s slouch. I don’t know how tall she is but only beanpoles can get away with that. For the rest of us, good posture and a good bra can help a lot.

  • Anonymous

That is a gorgeous dress but she looks like a sack of potatoes in it.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of here where her breasts weren’t sagging down to her waist.  She really, really  needs to invest in some serious support garments, starting with a good bra – and wear it at all times.  The hair reminds me of the way my mother wore her  hair to formal nights at Eastern Star in the 60’s.  The shoes are awful with this dress.  So, OUT all the way around.  But I’d love to see this dress on someone who could do it justice.

  • Joyce VG

*sob* so close.  OUT because of the no bra fiasco.

  • maybe more

She has such geriatric posture. It really doesn’t help. :( Is she pregnant? She must be, looking at these. If she’s not she needs to fire someone immediately. And learn to stand in a more flattering way!

  • Valerie Owens

The RIGHT bra would solve about 80% of Maggie’s problems. Something really uplifting. Also, the cut of the bodice does not suit her. She has eyes that are naturally downcast on the outside, so wearing a dress that is higher in the middle than the sides plays up a sad look to her – not in a good way. This girl needs sweetheart necklines with a wonderbra and a tight updo that pulls up on the sides of her face in order to bring out her assets to best effect.  Further, she needs to stand up straight and stick that chest out and that chin in! Instant transformation!

  • Amy Forestell

The first thing that I noticed was the lack of bra, and I was all ready to give her an out. But then I realized that she has very nicely shaped natural breasts and I would be delighted for society to stop demanding that all boobs be perky and fake-looking. So instead I say kudos to her for going this route. IN.

    • Anonymous

Pshaw. I also have lovely, nicely shaped natural breasts, but I still wear a bra on the red carpet. OK, I’m never on the red carpet, but I wear a bra. Braless works if you are a 19 year old, but rarely after that.

  • Sara__B

No bra + unstructured dress = ready for the beach. NOT ready for the red carpet. OUT.

  • Anonymous

    She needs a stylist.

    Or a better stylist.

  • Anonymous

If that is a baby bump, I congratulate her, but if it’s not, she needs to avoid garments that gather across the tummy.  And God yes, get this lady a brassiere, stat!  She’s a lovely lady, but this look is so OUT.

  • Megan Patterson

You know what I think makes her look so grandma all the time? The fact that the girls ARE NEVER HIKED UP. If they were in the right place, it would look so much better! Girl, you had babies, you have bigger boobs now. YOU NEED A BRA. Now use that movie money to go and get a proper fitting and $200 bras! YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE!

  • Anonymous

Bra required. It also doesn’t help that Maggie always, always, always, always SLOUCHES in pictures. That model-shrug-pose does NOT work for anyone who doesn’t have a shelf-like clavicle.

  • Anonymous

It’s true! This is my issue with her and Kiki Dunst! Droopy boobs and slouchy posture!
How can anyone look at themselves in the mirror and find this attractive?

    • Anonymous

Perhaps it ISN’T a pose. It’s so consistent, that methinks the shoulders are just plunging due to girlfriend’s LACK OF A BRA.

  • Anonymous

Exactly. Before I read our uncles’ comments, I thought to myself, “looks nice, but boy, does she need a good bra.”

OUT, honey. We all went braless once, and we looked great. But there is a time when you realize you cannot do that anymore. You have reached that time.

  • Anonymous

Her girls look depressed, and as if they are refusing to speak to one another.

  • Anonymous

Needs a bra and better posture. That slouch makes her look pregnant.

  • Anonymous

    Looks like pregnancy boobs.

  • { edi } ilovetrash

i havent scrutinized a woman’s bosom so intently since i was a child & very very occasionally you could see a bare one through a blouse in a fashion magazine & i just could not believe my own eyes.

in this case, though, i think the waistband is more of a problem. if she isnt pregnant it makes her look that way. & since it’s gathered so high it makes the abovenoted bosom look much droopier than it actually is. which is, i think on account of my scrutiny, actually no worse at all than kate winslet’s. only kate winslet’s support garments are more like armaments than clothing. i mean, all strung together they could stop any number of people from advancing. etc & ect.

otoh, it’s probably sometimes not all that easy to be MG. not here, not in LA, not in the movie industry, not on the red carpet, not among surgically un- & enhanced perfect people. i think she is very comfortable w/ herself, or at least i hope so, cos that would be a good strategy for dealing w/ it.

  • accidental housewife

The dress is gorgeous, and I think she looks fabulous in it. I don’t love the hair, but I like it. She gets an IN, because even without a bra, she looks better than I’ve seen her in quite a while.

I also thought she might be pregnant, but it could just be bad posture.

  • Anonymous

No. Out. All I can see of her shoes is solid black. There may, (not likely) I repeat, *may* be redeeming black-relieving portions of those shoes, but we can’t see them.

I would probably have been [too] merciful if the only issue were undergarments, but no solid black shoes with this dress.

  • Anonymous

Sigh. Needs a bra and to learn to stand up straight. This should have been easy.

  • Wrenaria

A bra, yes. And roll those shoulders back, honey. Better posture would do you wonders and make you not look pregnant.

She gets an in, but barely, just to encourage more improvement. It’s the best she’s looked in quite awhile.

    • Janie R

      Her posture is horrible!

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    SO. CLOSE.

    /collapses in frustration

I wanted to give her a consolation in, because it’s so much better than the nursing home fiasco – but I can’t.  This OUT was just so trivially avoidable… sorry Maggie.  OUT it is.

  • Anonymous

This is tough – hair and makeup are passable, LOVE the hoops and bracelet, dress is lovely – but the droopage ruins it. So close, but out.

  • Anonymous

Out, because she looks old and pregnant.

  • Anonymous

It gives me such a huge sad to say it, but OUT.  Because the girls, unfettered, just look so very old and bad. I don’t especially like the dress–the halter looks like those celluloid “Hawaiian leis” we used to win at easy boardwalk games in the summer–but it drapes nicely from the waist down, and I want to give her an in so much that I would have.  Were it not for the bra issue.

It’s just too big and too saggy to ignore.

  • Anonymous

The lack bra makes the dress not only pull in weird places but also sit in the wrong place on her torso. Seriously, Gyllenhaal? OUT.

I’m feeling disinclined to give her a pass on the bralessness. She’s been on the red carpet for too many years not to know how this would look in photos.

I’m giving her an OUT. I hate it when she wears her hair this way: she’s young and fresh, but she never looks it when she does updos like that.

  • Anonymous

Lets give her an IN just for the step in the right direction

  • Leslie S

she never wears a bra – damn hippie!

  • Sorana Tarmu

Dam’it, Maggie! Drooping boobage with that updo? Septuagenarian all the way. She looks like my grandma in her night gown (she really does!). I love Maggie, but she’s still OUT. Grrrrr….

  • nicole seligman

maggie! why no bra?? why those shoes??? granted, this is the best her face/skin have looked recently. and i appreciate the bracelet. e for effort.

  • Anonymous

What sort of makes this all the worse is that in 2007 she was the face (and body) for Agent Provocateur.   She rocked those photo shoots! (google it, you’ll see) Didn’t get she to keep the bras??

Out.  If you are going simple and classic, with minimal accessories, what is there should be perfect – or at least a lot better than this. A good bra would have made all the difference.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  Good posture and a bra would make a huge difference.  And what’s up with the black pointy shoes?

  • Anonymous

OUT.  Needed a BRA.  RAH RAH RAH for a BRA BRA BRA!  I swear I thought I saw nipplage.  Eeek!

  • Ass Kicking Adviser

And the neckline looks so pretty on her too. Even her make-up looks good. In fact, the only thing wrong is the bra-less-ness. Can we give her an ‘IN’ anyway? No? We can’t? Are you sure?

  • Paige Boerman

It’s a step in the right direction, but her constant lack of breast support has me concerned. OUT – get help, Maggie. You’re gals need some love.

  • Anonymous

Not bad but not good.  A- for effort, C for execution.

  • Erica Tucker

Is she pregnant? If not, her posture is absolutely horrendous. She needs to fix the posture first if she’s not pregnant.

  • AWStevens

Guess what I found out just yesterday??  There are “posture supporting” bras!  YES!  In this one case with Ms G, the boobs don’t bother me.  It’s this acting like she’s not trying but she IS trying so… I agree with TLo that she’s not trying hard enough.  I do believe she’s pregnant.  Can’t prove it but it’s a theory.  Anyway, she just gives off this Eleanor Roosevelt vibe from the neck down…  OUT

  • Vera

Oh Maggie! While you do look better on the RC than usual, I have to give you an OUT for the lack of a bra.  #sad

  • Mariah J

OUT – I hate when people don’t wear a bra.

  • Anonymous

Oh, honey. Your girls are soooo sad. They’re weeping, begging, crying for support.

OUT. Definite step in the right direction but no gal can be in with boobs that sad.

  • Anonymous

OUT. Droopy boobs makes everyone has a sad.

  • elzatelzabelz

In(ish)-she looks SO much better (and totally pregnant).

  • Anonymous

she gets an IN just because it is such a huge improvement over her last red carpet appearance. but it is remarkable that she could look so old and so bland in an Alexander McQueen

  • Anonymous

OUT! It is the bra and it has ALWAYS been the bra! It ruins everything she wears. Have some support built in if you have to but those girls bring down her eery look!

  • Anonymous

“If nothing else, do it for McQueen. It’s what he would have wanted.” True that.

Anyway, I’m going to ignore the lack of bra because this is the best she’s looked in a while and she’s even standing up straight! (At least in some of the pictures). IN!

  • Kelley Comfort

No bra + bad posture = pregnancy rumors. That dress is not flattering her at all. Head up, shoulders back and wear your girls out front and proud!

Damn it, Maggie! I want to shake you, then hug you and take you to a proper stylist. I like her so much–as TLo said, as much as I can like somone I don’t know. She’s talented and quirky, and I always perk up when I hear her name attached to a movie. I want her to shine on the red carpet. Please, Maggie, wear a bra for these events. You don’t have to do it at home or at family functions; but it has to be done when you’re on display. Also, that hair. I hate that updo. There are lovely & elegant updos that would be beautiful on you…this isn’t it. Or, what about some nice soft & loose hairstyle; that would be pretty & youthful with the right dress & accessories. Honey, please listen to Tom & Lorenzo. Let yourself be a gorgeous, bra-wearing goddess on the red carpet.

The bralessness and hunchy shoulders…OUT! Why always with the hunching shoulders? She has lovely strong shoulders! She keeps standing like that her back will get stuck in that rounded position. Septuagenarian is right. So sad.

  • Deen

Out. I hadn’t even scrolled down to see the second set of comments and I was yelling, “WEAR A BRA!!”

  • Susan Crawford

Every time I see her on the red carpet, I want to sneak up behind her and grab her by the shoulders and FORCE her to stand UP straight! And it isn’t only Maggie who commits this sin – it’s 90% of the gals on the carpets. When you are wearing couture, or at least a costly designer number for heaven’s sake stand up like a big girl: shoulders back, chin up, spine nice and aligned. Nowadays, the ones who aren’t sloping, tilting and otherwise scrunching like a half-inflated helium balloon are doing that cross-legged “where’s the nearest bathroom” pose.

T and Lo’s main critique here is – as always – right on the moolah: Girl, get yourself a bra that fits and lifts those puppies. With a well-fitted bra, she would have looked terrific in this gown. I would also suggest that at some point she might want a consultation with a new hairstylist, because that middle-aged pile-up also makes her look dowdy. Sigh – so close, Maggie, so very close.

  • Wendy Kaufman

I’m gonna giver her an in. The boobage area is not the worst droop that I have seen, and I am thinking that the dress is quite soft, and she wanted to keep the whole look (and feel) soft. I think she needs the most help with her posture. I also must ask, as i wonder about this every time I see a celebrity—are there not about a million up-and-coming talented stylists out there that would employ their magic wand for her for free, just to get their work out there? And I dunno, but she does not look happy in either of your posts. Maybe she’s got other things consuming her thoughts?

  • Melissa Janes

I like Maggie’s little saggy boobs, haha.

Put on a damned bra!!! OUT! OUT! OUT! Rinse and repeat.

  • akprincess72

She really needs a little support for those things…

  • kvlm

Love.  But would definitely benefit from the right foundation.  Or any foundation for that matter.
