In or Out: Ashley Greene in Donna Karan

Posted on November 15, 2011

We’re not quite done with those Twilight kids yet, kittens!

Ashley Greene in Donna KaranAshley Greene attends “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” LA Premiere in a Donna Karan gown.

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan

We couldn’t not give this girl her own post because she, in our extravagant opinion, BROUGHT IT. And that truly surprises us because, well, red lace, you guys. We’ve never liked it. We’re not partial to lace in any case, but brightly colored ones are particularly dicey to us. Somehow the delicacy of this lace overcomes our kneejerk dislike of it. And it helps that she cuts such an amazing figure, what with the bold lips and sleek hair. But our minions have their own opinions, bless, and it’s possible that some of you can’t overcome your dislike of red lace, or bold lips, or even Ashley herself. We’re here, darlings. Tell us about it.

IN! Old Hollywood glamour, UPDATED!

OUT! Great. Now that shitty “Lady in Red” song is stuck in my head.

Rashida Jones got an OUT for her mismatched tweeds and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane dress got a vehement IN from y’all.

In In In! (Especially now that we know what the REST of that red carpet looked like.)

  • Anonymous

Sorry, guys.  I have to disagree with you.  I really do not like this look at all.  From the dress to the makeup she’s just too… well, red!

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I hate it. Sorry too, guys. Though I do agree that the hair and makeup are kind of face, it’s just that dress. I really can’t.

      • Anonymous

Agreed….I might give her an IN despite it, but the dress is really throwing me off. Love the makeup and hair, but the dress, although it looks good when I squint, just gives me an overwhelming “prom” feel

    • Ann Erickson

I was on the fence and then I noticed the red matchy nail polish. OUT.

  • marlie

  • Cathy S

Barber pole. That dress looks like a barber pole. Do not like. Sorry guys.

    • Anonymous

That was also my first impression as well. Once I got over that association I decided I actually kind of like it. Small case in from me for the Uncle Wiggily flashback.

    • Anonymous

I liked the barber pole effect. It cut the red lace effect for me.

    • Sarah

I am glad I scrolled down before I put my two cents worth of BARBER POLE! in. You hit the nail on the lacy, red, head with that one

  • Lauren St Martin

Gotta give it to her, even if she is in Twilight.

  • Judy S

She looks good–pretty, well put together, glam– but I don’t care for that dress–it looks like a B+ home sewing project. Good idea but a little confused on the execution.

    • MilaXX

Have to double check, but I beilieve its a custom made designer dress. DKNY I think

  • Anonymous

IN! She looks way better than Kristen!

  • Hunter Abrams

  • Angela Martin

    In! Love the color!

  • Sobaika Mirza

Lovely! This is coming from a huge proponent of lace, though.

  • Anonymous

What I really don’t like is the stripey stuff on the dress, but you’re right. She does look pretty fabulous. Gotta give her an IN.

  • Becky Bartley

    IN! Gorg

  • Laura O’Gorman

She looks great but it’s juuuuuust a little “candy cane” for me.

  • Mariah Chase

“I’m the star of this fucking movie bitches” is written all over her face.
Love it, not just an IN but a WERQ

  • Anonymous

She looks like some sort of doll my daughter would play with.

  • Liana Brooks

I… kinda hate it. Really, this should be a stunning look and it should be an instant in, but it’s not working for me. The illusion of the peek-a-boo skin with candy cane swirls just isn’t working for me. The bodice fit isn’t great (although that could be a camera angle) and overall I’m getting a Santa’s Hussy Helper vibe here. OUT

    • Anonymous

Santa’s hussy helper? Oh, Liana, that is just TFF! And true!

  • Fifi LaRoux

Some angles of the dress are a little unflattering, but over all I really dig it! IN

  • Nancy

Out–I feel bad for her boobs and there’s little definition in the waist.

I am in agreement, however, that hair and makeup look very good.

  • Ali

  • Anonymous

The dress is surprisingly lovely. I am not crazy about the hair, but the overall look can only be an IN.

  • Joyce VG

    She looks stunning. IN.

  • Anonymous

she is a pretty girl BUT, the dress looks like there is crepe paper glued on it. OUT

    • Anonymous

Agreed.  OUT, not just crepe paper glued on but badly glued on to boot.

  • Aniela Marie Perry

She looks good, hair makeup and whatnot.. but I hate this dress. The ruffles make it look ill-fitted and cheap, imo. OUT

  • Anonymous

    IN – She looks stunning.

  • Anonymous

To me, the dress looks dated and mature.

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

It?  Has been broughten.  IN.  Now where can I get that lipstick?

    • accidental housewife

Oh my God, I know. That lipstick might just be perfect.

  • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

In. I quite like it.  And since KStew was the only other one that brought it on the red carpet, Ashley deserves kudos too!

  • Susan Collier

In. Sure. More confounded by the fans in the background who drove cross-country to see folks on the red carpet. Ah youth!

  • Courtney Brown

I really don’t like it OUT

  • Anonymous

Maybe it’s updated Hollywood glamor, but I don’t like the dress.  Her hair and makeup are pretty.

  • Anonymous

Love the dress, although the back fat it created is tragic. Still she looks better than anyone else at that premiere. IN.

  • Anonymous

Very pretty dress and she is wearing the shit out of it!  Seems quite appropriate for this premier.

Overall she looks lovely, however, my minor quibbles are too much pink blush and I hate the bold red lip, especially with it matching the dress.

  • Anonymous

Yuck sorry. Me no likey. It looks cheap and trashy.

  • nicole seligman

this is the prettiest i’ve ever seen her look. IN.

  • Anonymous

I can’t help but think she looks like a bloody bandage.

    So, obviously, OUT.

  • scottyf

    Evil, evil T&Lo said…
” Great. Now that shitty “Lady in Red” song is stuck in my head.”

Thanks for making me feel old. It’s not the Chris de Burgh song that I immediately thought of. It’s the Desi Arnaz tune of the same name from I Love Lucy that started playing.

  • Brittany Johnstone

No, no, no! And how is this not cocker spaniel hair?? She is a beautiful woman but this…no. Just, no.

    • accidental housewife

It’s not cocker spaniel hair because it’s sleek and and shiny and has actually been styled. Also, she’s young enough to pull off the length. Also, also, no frizzies. It looks rather like Veronica Lake hair to me.

  • Remy S

Eugh. I actually tend to like red lace (there’s this one Valentino dress from HC… FW 2006? 2005? 2007? that I just die over) but this, I do not like. It looks kind of cheap to me and I hate the swirly flaps. Sorry, dears!

  • Kathrine Marlow

I think she looks amazing, any other lip color would have fought with the dress (except a nude lip and she’s so fair!)  IN IN IN

  • Anonymous

I’m torn. The color looks beautiful on her, but the shape isn’t very flattering. And I hate her hair here. I’ll say IN though because my first impression was positive.

  • Anonymous

It’s so….red and strippy and…red. I think I really dislike it. OUT on the dress and IN on hair and makeup.

  • Anonymous

I don’t have any personal feelings about her, not knowing who she is, but I think the look is icky. OUT.

  • Michelle Young

She was the queen that night!  IN!

  • Anonymous

sorry, but i think this is really ugly. Out

  • Anonymous

Candy cane Xmas.  Ugh to the hair.  OUT!

  • Pearse

Even though I now have Lady in Red stuck in my head, I have to say IN. Girl looks FIERCE.

  • Anonymous

Nyeh…. something about those red lace stripes is making the dress look big and ill-fitting. She’s a definite IN from the neck up though – girl is giving good face with that hair and make-up.

  • Anonymous

Totally IN. It doesn’t matter that it’s lace, it’s the way the shape and texture works with her body, and the hair and makeup, it’s just a whole package of awesome.

  • Anonymous

With the skanky outfits and the heavy makeup slapped on with a trowel, this gorgeous creature usually looks like a 40-year-old hooker.  She’s stepped up her game here.  IN.

  • Jenna Kuhmann

IN. I think she looks flat-out gorgeous.  Why didn’t she get Bella’s part? (Not that it matters, because I don’t watch any of the movies and her casting does make sense because she’s supposed to be the most beautiful girl in the whole story, but I’ve hated how poorly the main two were cast since the movie franchise began.  Yes, I read the books, but only once, because that amount of teenage angst and sappiness is way, way too much for me.)

  • Bethany Roullett

I’m gonna go with OUT because my first impression was that she was part of a Christmas display at Macy’s…

  • Gaby Ripoll

OUT. Neither for the red lace nor the bold lips, but for the RED STREAMERS. She looks like a poorly made candy-cane. The detailing is great, but how can you look past the fact that it looks like she killed all the other girls in the pageant and took their blood-soaked sashes as trophies? Nonono.

  • Anonymous

    Love it — In!

  • Delysia LaFosse

Unlike T&Lo, I can get behind lace. But this dress is just not doing it for me. She herself is lovely and her makeup looks nice. The super-vibrant red is really great on her. But this lace doesn’t look tasteful or pretty at all; honestly, I think it looks cheap. Also: I think her hair needs some lift at the crown or a side part or something. It’s like curtains.

  • Anplica Fiore

    Stunning!  In!

  • Anonymous

Out. It doesn’t seem to fit her very well where it’s cutting into her back.

  • Sara__B

Red lace with candy cane stripes and cocker spaniel hair, but she looks fabulous — glamourous and full of energy. IN!

  • Anonymous

Major IN. She’s a little too matchy but she’s still WERQin’.

  • Shannon Stewart

It’s very old-school glam, and I appreciate that.

  • Anonymous

Is anyone else getting Ivy’s PR dress? The hawaiian waves crashing to the shore one that got her booted? I can’t unsee it. Out.

  • Anonymous

    Love! IN.

  • Danielle West

I was wondering why she wasn’t in the other post.  She looks fab!  IN!

  • Anonymous

IN….love the dress. Wearing blood red lace to a vampire movie…how perfect! The lips are a bit too bold for me, though. Great looking hair. That’s how you do a center part without looking like a cocker spaniel.

  • Doreen B

IN and WERQ!  She looks amazing and I HATE lace.  It always looks cheap or like a doily on a table.  But this, this is gorgeous, and she OWNS it!

  • Democracy Diva

Out, because of the song and because I don’t think this is all that nice. The dress widens her figure and the matching lips and nails are too much.

  • Anonymous

  • Stephanie Ann

IN! The only thing I don’t like is the top of her hair. In some pictures is looks too flat against her skull, it should have had more oomph! Especially since the bottom looks fantastic.

  • MilaXX

Giving this an IN. It just looks okay on my monitor, but hair & mu look good and my twitter timeline fairly exploded with praise for her & this look.

  • Anonymous

Is this homemade did she pull a Scarlett O’Hara and sew together some red sheer curtains with a Fredick’s of Hollywood nighty?

  • Anonymous

she looks like a really tacky christmas tree ornament

  • Anonymous

I want to hate it, but she looks so damn good.  IN!

  • Sarah Winningham

  • Anonymous

Out.  I do like the lace part…it’s the ruffles that I can’t stand.

  • CQAussie

OUT.  Can’t stand the red lace even if her hair and make-up is very pretty.

  • Anonymous

I was on the fence at first when I realized that was lace and not just some kind of print, but looking at it more, I have to go with IN.  She brought it.  Good job.

  • oohsparkley!

    IN and a WERQ!

  • WordyDoodles

It’s just ok. There’s something about it that falls just short of fancy enough, for me. I think it needed to be accessorized a little differently or amped up just a bit. But what am I saying– some of the guys were arriving in casual Friday.

Definitely the red nails have to go, and I would have liked to see a deep side part in her hair.

I think we can be picky enough to call this an OUT. But it’s not a fail.

  • Anonymous

Way OUT. She’s a pretty girl and she looks good, but that tacky Project Runway entry of a dress should be taken out back and shot.

  • Aisa Ginger Jake Psenicnik

in, just. it a bit to twilight theme for me

  • Anonymous

IN. Kristen Stewart must have been so jealous.

  • Anonymous

    Looks great. Way in!

  • Anonymous

    IN IN IN!!!

Even if she’d been on a red carpet with a better average, I’d give it all caps.

ETA: gosh, I’m surprised how many don’t like it. So I went back and looked again, and I still think it’s great. It’s about the impact and for me, the impact is positive. I admit, by about Dec. 25th, when I’m weeks if not months into the ubiquitous and all-enveloping Christmas color scheme, it might not strike me the same way.

  • Anonymous

I can’t tell if she tried to match her lipstick to her dress, and it’s bugging the heck outta me.

Out, cuz I’m a crankypants today.

  • Pamela

BO-ring hair and a dress that makes me think of candy canes.  OhsoOUTTAhere!

  • Anonymous

IN, even if it looks like she’s bleeding.  Appropriate for a vampire movie.

  • Thom

    She’s a Candy Cane! She’s a barber pole! She’s OUT.

  • Tiger Gray

OUT. She looks like a candy striper. Or maybe Missus Claus. Love the red lips but god, girl.

  • Kat Schnepp

i hate the jellyfish quality of it. it’s like a candy cane underwater creature. yuck.

  • Anonymous

The lace doesn’t bother me, but… those stripes are weird. Still, she’s killing it, inasmuch as she can. In.

  • Anonymous

This is a horrible, ugly dress.

  • Anonymous

How could this not be IN!  It’s just fun old school Hollywood glam.

  • Robert Sanchez

In. It helps that the underlay isn’t nude, but a very pale reddish pink. If it were red lace over nude fabric, it wouldn’t look stylish.

    • Anonymous

I think you’re mistaken. The underlayer only appears light pink because there’s sheer red over it. It is ivory or off-white. If it were pink it would be more vivid, and imo even worse than it actually is.

    • Anonymous

I think you’re mistaken. The underlayer only appears light pink because there’s sheer red over it. It is ivory or off-white. If it were pink it would be more vivid, and imo even worse than it actually is.

  • Anna Tree

I love bold lips but that is not her shade of lipstick.  Also, did her make up artist apply blush with a spackle?  OUT

  • Natasha Ann

Hmmm my first instinct would be IN but I really don’t like that particular shade of red on her. Perhaps something a bit darker would be better but maybe I’m being too nit-picky so IN.

  • Grace Ritt

IN IN IN! She is really fabulous.

  • Anonymous

  • Stefanos Mantyla

IN. How does this not qualify as a WERQ?

  • MandyJane

Wow, she looks amazing, definitely IN.

  • Laura Schultz

Lips are a little too matchy but IN for me

  • Jenna Gordon

i don’t know who this is but she is werqing the hell out of that carpet! that dress is fantastic and i love the bold red color.

  • Anonymous

    IN–Definitely IN.  Very retro-glam.

  • Anonymous

I hate this dress.  And I think it makes her look kinda square and waist-less

  • Anonymous

I hate it. She looks like a feminine hygiene product. OUT! OUT!(out!)

    • Lauren Maier

Bloody hell, now that’s all I see.  But I actually kind of like it!
Damn, it’s red lace.  If it didn’t have the deep red slashes of fabric, I’d like it.  But – feminine hygiene product for sure.
      A reluctant OUT.

  • aimee_parrott

Surprising.  This is an IN for me, in spite of the red lace, the barber pole effect AND the fact that she’s in Twilight.  Go figure.

  • Molly OBM

Gonna give her an “in”. Nice enough, but she doesn’t quite deserve capitals!

  • Elena

Out for me. I just don’t like the dress. She looks pretty though, and red is a nice color on her.

  • Sarah Veenstra

I’m sorry, but all I see is a hybrid of bad wallpaper and leftover scraps of the many halloween costumes my mother sewed for me as a kid. And the hair is both generic and a little flat. OUT.

  • Quinn Esden

IN! She looks fabulous and definitely commands attention.

  • Anonymous

I just looked at the other Twilight post and nearly vomited.  Ashley looks divine here and she must have been laughing at all her poorly dressed cast mates.

  • Anna Vasquez

OUT. Crepe paper, I say! CREPE PAPER!

  • Ass Kicking Adviser

OUT! She’s a drag queen named Kandy Kane.

  • nancy

In! She looks very glam and sleek. That’s the hair color I’ve been going for (and failing to get)!

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

I just finished helping my daughter do some papier-mache with tissue paper, and that’s pretty much all I can see with this dress.

it is a beautiful color and she wears it well. That lip color is a phenomenal red, too.

Okay, In, papier-mache look and all.

  • Anonymous

I think if this dress was a PR runway piece, Nina would question the taste level (y’know, back in the old days, when they had real opinions). But, somehow, it works on her. I think this is a case of “This IS your dress”, ’cause she looks fantastic. In.

  • Rei Carter

  • Sara Munoz

Fabulous! How could this be anything but IN??

  • Hanna Choe

I think the red lip, the red nails, and the bright blush is just too much RED. Overall IN (she’s gorgeous), but I wish she had removed one red item, a la Coco.

  • Anonymous

In! It would be a shame if this dress never made it to a Twilight premiere.

  • Anonymous

I’m glad I don’t know anything about Twilight so I can give her an IN. I just love her lipstick.

  • Angie O’Brien

AHMAHzing. Totally brought it. Those boys in sneakers should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Anonymous

IN. It’s a little bit too candy cane for me and it looks better from certain angles, but I gotta say she looks gorgeous.

  • Anonymous

What about her hair is “sleek” and not “cocker spaniel” or flat – please?
And the dress is ugly. OUT.

  • Anonymous

IN. If only because she is wearing the hell out of a dress that would dominate most women. Gorgeous hair and makeup!

  • Pinup Ghoul

Absolutely ravishing. Someone give her stylist a high-five, because she looks FAB, like ‘Your Favorite Brilliant Red Lipstick Encased in a Solid Platinum Tube Studded with Rubies’ FAB. I love it.

  • Susan Bullard Mayer

OUT because that’s just an ugly dress.

  • Lori

    In.  WERQ.

  • Anonymous

IN. I love that the decadence of it is able to overshadow, for me, the fact that it’s not very flattering.

  • Kiltdntiltd

So very very IN it almost needs its own special category.

  • Christopher

    In,  she looks stunning

  • Greg Polansky

    In. So beautiful.

  • MandyM

Meh. She looks like a candy cane. Out.

  • Natasha Fairweather

    Love it! IN.

  • Anonymous

I hate it up close, but she looks amazing from a distance with the lace looks like a neat texture instead of crazy lace. IN!

  • Ally Monge

In to the max… she looks so fierce.

  • Paige Boerman

It’s bugging me. Make up is too heavy, hate the hair (center part, really?) and it looks like she’s got red seaweed hanging off her all over the place. Plus, lace. Ew. O-U-T, from head to toe.

  • Anonymous

IN so much.  She looks awesome.

  • Anonymous

the first thing i thought is that i feel bad for her cos she has to hold still & cant get her hair out of her face when they photograph her. that was probably really annoying. but it’s a pretty dress.

  • accidental housewife

She looks stunning. She’s totally gay gasp-worthy.

  • Julia

Oh my God, IN! I think she’s the only fun part of those shitty movies (my sister dragged me to see them). It’s so striking and all around lovely. She shouldn’t have to go to such events when she can bring it like that.

  • margaret meyers

That’s a lot of dress… and I think she’s making it happen.  In.

  • Anonymous

    In.  She looks amazing.

  • Anonymous

That’s shitty alright.  And fugly to boot.  Looks like someone strung red tissue around her.  I hate it.

  • Vickie Lord

She looks like a vampire in that dress, what with the flowy, bloody looking folds…ick. But the hair and makeup is very good.

  • Sorana Tarmu

Those stripes… disrupt the shape of her body… Sorry, guys, it’s yet another case of Scarlett O’Hara wearing her curtains. OUT. Too bad, her hair and make-up is stunning!

  • Haley Buchanan

IN.  Beautiful dress, suits her, suits the event.  She and Taylor Lautner really put the rest of those scruffy kids to shame!

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

I’m pretty she could pull off a burlap sack with that face and body.  (As long as she pair it with putty shoes of course…see I’ve been paying attention).

  • Anonymous

OUT!  Agree with the other barber comments..all she needs is a blue stripe following each red one and people will be running to her for a shave and a haircut.

  • Anonymous

Definitely IN! Perfect for a vampire flick.

    /tiny voice/ I like “Lady in Red”

  • Anonymous

I hate red lace but I have to give her an ‘IN’ here.. she brought it!

  • MadameHardy

I keep looking for the slot on the top of her head so they can screw her into the ground in case of a windstorm.  OUT.

  • Nancy SM Waldman

  • Anonymous

Her makeup is gorgeous. Her skin is beautiful.

    However I really hate red.

  • Ana Cedillo

oh most definitely IN. gorgeous color, although i agree with the red lace comment its tricky. but she looks beautiful and she even has curves!! this girl never looked better

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

In, love it, she looks fabulous, still looks young and fresh but working it like her life depended on it.

  • Susan Maguire

who ARE all these young girls???

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

Brought it, sorry she looks like  a vulva mid menstruation.

  • up with pod people

I found myself ignoring the dress and thinking how awesome SHE looked, so I have to give it an IN.

  • Anonymous

    iN, she looks smashing!

  • Anonymous

She’s so ridiculously pretty. I’m not sure about the dress, but she looks fantastic regardless and she is WERQing the shit out of that lipstick.

  • Anonymous

    That’s spectacular. Colour. Style. Fit.
    It all werqs.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, she looks great. IN.

  • Anonymous

IN.  A good shade of red for us fair-skinned/dark haired lasses.  Her hair looks great, and I think accessories might have cheapened this too much.

But I still don’t know who she (or 90% of the other attendees) is.

  • Anonymous

Out. Out out out. The dress is interesting, but the red lace over the white underlay just reminds me of red veins drawn on a model of the human body, and therefore creeps me out. It might be appropriate to evoke veins, given the subject matter of the movie, doesn’t mean I’m not creeped out by it.

  • Yan Neng

IN! but I think a less red lip would have been better

  • Anonymous

    LOVE it!

  • Anonymous

I love lace, I love red lace, I love red lips. I hate this look. The wave things do not work for me. Neither does her nose job.

  • Anonymous

    out. tacky.

  • Anonymous

    IN to the INth degree.

  • Anonymous

I like the dress… ish. Honestly I think I would like it better if the stripes were appliqued directly onto the dress – with them left loose they look a little flappy. But, I’ll give her an IN because she looks better than a large number of girls there.

  • Alisa Rivera

Lipstick is too matchy but still a big IN.

  • kim i

hot damn.  as in, hot damn.

  • Mary McClelland

  • Anonymous

Out.  HATE the dress.  The fit in the bust is weird — when she has her left hand on her hip, her left boob bulges out, but when she uses the same pose with her right arm, there’s no change in the dress.  The swirly stripes are just plain ugly, IMO, and while her hair and makeup are gorgeous, that’s just not enough to overcome that ugly dress.

  • Anonymous

    Lana Turner looks. Not bad.

  • M N

Goddamn, that’s a femme fatale right there.  Totally in.

  • Anonymous

absolutely an IN, though its not the most flattering dress… she still brought – and i LOVE her hair and makeup!!!

  • Alexander Peterhans

    Ghastly. OUT.

  • Jill Tracy

    IN! She looks glamorous!

  • Linde Hoff

Hair and makeup are nice, but the May Pole effect isn’t working.  Perhaps if she twirled around really fast for that May Pole effect to truly flare it would be better….?!  Probably not.

  • Anonymous

    IN IN IN!

  • Katherine Pisarro-Grant

Ugh, no. All I see when I look at this dress is crepe paper decorations for the dance at the high school gym…

  • Anonymous

I love the glam makeup and the hair’s ok, but not feeling the dress. Out.

  • Anonymous

    In. Love. Love.

  • Meira Niibori

In.  But, I really really want to tell her to get her hair out of her face.  It looks nice in the shots where it’s not all falling forward,
but when it does fall forward all around her face it’s just too much and she suddenly looks off.

  • Elana Friedman

In. Its ironic because she’s a vampire wearing ribbons of BLOOD RED lace. Twilight can be ironic.

  • Anonymous

GORGEOUS! Had I the money (and the figure that I had at her age), I would buy this gown in a heartbeat. IN!!!!!

  • AWStevens

She’s stunning.  Every inch of her.  LOVE the lipstick!  IN

  • Anonymous

In.  The dress appears oddly lumpy when shot from certain angles but I really like the overall effect and look.  Plus, it’s a gown done a slightly different way and huge props for that.

  • Anonymous

OUT.  I don’t think this dress is doing her figure any favors at all!

  • P. Capet

i was hoping you would bring this up.  love.

  • Heather Kobayashi

IN!  She looks fabulous.  I didn’t even realize that was lace, at first.

OUT! It looks like that blue dress inspired by the sea from project runway. I forget which season and designer but it it looks like the same dress only in red. Ugh.

  • Meg P. W.

I say IN, husband says OUT. A bit like T and Lo sometimes. 😉

    This is terrific.  In

In! Very striking and “old Hollywood glamour” without appearing to try nearly as hard as any of the other over or under-dressed starlets.

  • Merneith

Out. Points for effort but the dress is just to Mae West.

  • Anonymous

IN, and good for her for bringing something a little funky and different and for managing to locate the right level of formality that so many of her female and ESPECIALLY male counterparts couldn’t quite grasp.

  • Aaminah Khan

Sooooooooo IN. Gorgeous girl in a stunning dress looking fabulous. Twilight? What’s that?

  • Becca Robson

It looks like Lady Gaga’s meat dress.

  • Anonymous

Oh, god, I hate that dress! Her hair and make up, on the other hand, are gorgeous! On the other, other hand, everything is red. I can’t deny that the girl brought it, but that dress is still hiddy. OUT!

  • Anonymous

I just don’t like it – it looks tacky and cheap, although it is well fitted.

  • Kelley Comfort

Never liked her, but she looks good in the dress. Too bad she looks so tired and drawn. All the publicity for the next Twilight movie much be catching up with her.

  • Eli Alger says:

Awwww I love the dress! IN IN IN

  • Catherine

She’s up-and-coming and she made the most of it. Though I liked her Donna Karan gown she wore to the Met Ball so much more, I think this is gorgeous too. And the styling! One of the few instances where red lip and red dress work. IN.

  • lilibetp

I think she looks gorgeous, and the red is the perfect shade for her.  And the dress is really pretty except for the really annoying little chiffon strips hanging off it.  Get rid of those and part her hair on the side (because it really should be illegal to part your hair smackdab down the middle) and it would be perfect.

  • Edward Brede

Totally in.  She brought it big time.

  • Anonymous

    in, bien sur.

  • Anonymous

That is just plain pretty. In.

  • Jessica Ballinger

In!  It’s got color, shape, interest, it’s unusual, her make up looks great, AND she bothered to do her hair.  In in in!

  • Badriya Al-Badi’a

    Love it, In!

  • Anonymous

I know the voting is over on this one, but I have to say that the more I look at this, the more I abhor it.

  • Anonymous

I think she looks fabulous – a definite IN. I do feel a bit weird saying that about someone wearing red lace (who isn’t Lady GaGa)

  • Judith Mignault

If you take the dress alone, it’s not amazing, but as a look…  definitly head turning. Also, the rest of her look is so polished! Lipstick and nail polish the same red as the dress would be too much if the dress was a solid color, but since the color is played down by the lace, it actually works. Very suprising, but IN.

  • Anonymous

    the end justified the means…

  • Sarah Tyrchniewicz

I thought that yes, she “brought it”, but it also reminded me there will be a vampire baby exploding out of Bella’s tummy in this movie and that will be quite gruesome. The fact that the dress reminded me of that… yeah…

Absolute IN! Lovely, old time, AND modern glamour! Brava, Ashley!

  • R. L.

    Very IN!

  • Catherine Rhodes

She was robbed of a WERQ. If this doesn’t qualify, there’s no justice in this world. IN

  • Anonymous

Dress is surprisingly pretty considering that it is red lace.  Hair and make up are beautiful.  She needs some jewelry, accessories, a clutch, something!  Still, without anything *wrong*, I vote IN.

  • andy

On paper, everything about this look should be barf-inducing. In photos, however… AMAZING. IN, IN, IN!

    • Anonymous

Barf Inducing cracked me up.  xo!

  • Jennifer Barnes

IN she looks amazing and the dress is interesting without being too busy.

  • Anonymous

OUT. Agree with the barber-pole comments, and there is WAY too much red going on.

However, she should get a tube of that lipstick and wear it more often (when she isn’t wearing red head-to-toe) – it looks beautiful on her – just the right shade.

    • JillK

Ha! I posted my impression before reading any other replies (which is what I always do because I don’t want to be influenced), and I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw a barber pole!

  • Nellie Wilson

Out – even though overall she looks lovely. I just can’t get past that dress.

  • Anonymous

IN.  She looks old school Hollywood.  I love the dress and it fits her perfectly.  Her hair is pretty.  Her makeup is fab and I adore the red lips.  I have NO CLUE who this woman is, but IN IN IN.

  • katie

that looks like a DIY Barbie dress. OUT.

  • Anonymous

All I can think is that she looks like a bioluminescent jellyfish. OUT.

  • Kara Lang Guminski

    In…she is owning it.

  • Anonymous

Normally I would hate a dress that looks as if she’s post-pig-blood Carrie White, but since it’s a Twilight movie, the vague reference to flowing blood is appropriate.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

In.  The hair and makeup are perfect.  Not crazy about red lace, but it fits her well.

  • Benjamin Gazy

OUT!  The best thing about this outfit is her lipstick.  I don’t love the middle part and the dress is kind of hideous.  I hate the volume of those red ruffles.  It’s all I can see when I look at this.

  • Anonymous

In!  I kinda went,”oh, don’t rip on this look, please guys” when I first saw it.  Happy you were positive, she looks all kinds of great!

  • Anonymous

Love it. Love everything about it. Love all the red. IN, IN,IN.

  • Hildegerd Haugen

    Ashley is an IN.
That fascinating face, she is a keeper.

  • Amye

I’ve never seen you look so lovely as you did, tonight,
I never saw you shine to bright….

    Phhhbbbhhhtt… that’s for dissing a pretty song.

    She’s a definite IN

  • Anonymous

She looks like a candy cane but Doesn’t make you think of Christmas.  WERQ

    Rose Bowl float.  OUT.

  • JillK

She looks like a freaking lacy barber pole. OUT! ::shudder::

  • Anonymous

    Totally IN.  Lovely.

  • stacey avelar

The solid part of the dress looks like red toilet paper to me. Nah. Hair and makeup are lovely. Different dress please!

  • Anonymous

Don’t like it at all. I think it makes her look chunky.

  • ecallaw

I love her in red, but I don’t think this is particularly flattering to her figure. I still think she’s definitely an IN, though.

  • Anonymous

like a little kid dressed up like Sofia Vergara OUT
