Beyonce in Roberto Cavalli

We just wanted to give a shoutout to Bey here.

This isn’t a “WERQ!” post because we don’t actually love the dress all that much and the mismatched gold of the shoes is setting off our OCD, but we just wanted to say “Hey, girl!” in her direction (“Hey girl!” being a slightly more vague form of praise than “WERQ it, girl!” because it’s basically saying “We approve of something general about you right now but not so much that we feel like spelling it out!”) because we think she looks gorgeously voluptuous and is serving up some serious disco earth mother realness.

Hey, girl!

Best part of my day so far?  ”Disco earth mother realness”.  Thanks, boys!

    • http://www.facebook.com/charlotte.horseman Charlotte Horseman

Agreed!  I want some Disco earth mother realness myself…

    • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

I’ve been trying to work “stone cold fox” more in my descriptions of women. I think “disco earth mother realness” can also go on the list.

    • Anonymous

I concur with all of the above.

  • Anonymous

bonus points for not putting her hand under her belly in that inane, “hey, i’m not fat, guys. i’m preggo! really!” pose.

    • Anonymous

      Word.

  • Anonymous

i’m sure it’s just a trick of lighting and fabric bunching but the front of her dress appears stained, there is also some unfortunate polterwang happening in that first pic….she does however have a lovely momma to be glow going on

    • Anonymous

she does totally have polterwang in the first pic.  God, I am glad I am not photographed regularly!

      • Anonymous

        What’s polterwang? Sounds unfortunate.

        • Anonymous

Polterwang™, is a term coined by Heather and Jessica @ gofugyourself.com to describe the unfortunate illusion that one has a wang. You may remember a Seinfeld episode with a similar central theme.

the “phantom penis” effect certain clothing items have upon the female form

        • http://www.facebook.com/charlotte.horseman Charlotte Horseman

I want to know too.. I’m looking at the pic to see if I can guess.  Is it some fabric misshapen-ness in the pelvic region that makes it look like a……. ”man in a dress”??  It’s the only little thing I see out of place!

        • Anonymous

Also known as the “phantom penis.”

    • Anonymous

Oh, you just made me giggle. I love the word polterwang.

    • Mary McClelland

All pregnant ladies look polterwang in a dress after a certain point. It’s the unfortunate side-effect of a massive protruding bump. ;-)

    • Anonymous

Now I cant’ un-see the stain or the polterwang.
      Or stop giggling.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1589131702 Jenna Gordon

i’m glad i’m not the only one that noticed that. the fabric of the dress is just so bulky looking in these pictures. i’ve got to say that i’m not thrilled with the whole outfit.

    • Anonymous

Oh God now I cannot unsee it! I also don’t particulary like her swirly hair, but that last pic is wonderful. She does look future-momma happy and glowy.

I didn’t see the polterwang at first glance. Now I can’t unsee it.

“serving up some serious disco earth mother realness”

Agreed!  And I must find a way to work that phrase into a conversation today.

  • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

Hey, Bey! Have a great day, by the way!

  • Anonymous

“Disco earth-mother realness”  awesome.  She does look great.  I love that her hair isn’t super blonde.  I think blonde hair looks weird on women of color.

Whenever I hear “Hey Girl”I think of this YT video: http://bit.ly/s6XgUy
    She does look beaming.

    • Anonymous

      ME TOO!!!!

“It’s like ‘Pretty in Pink’, but if the dress looked good.” is probably the only thing I can quote ;)

    • Stefanos Mantyla

Is this narrated by Michael Kors?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=523566011 Dawn Grimes Stough

you TOTALLY MADE MY DAY with that…  i’d never seen it before and now i can’t quit giggling…

      • Anonymous

Must have seen it 30 times and it’s still fun. :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Deborah-Jozayt/100002949685297 Deborah Jozayt

      That is absolutely hysterical!

    • Anonymous

The actor who does this (and MANY other hilarious things) is named Micah McCain. He is fabulous. http://www.micahmccain.com/

I actually love the dress, and am thinking the shoes are more copper, so it’s like mixed metallics and I like it!

  • Anonymous

She looks gloriously fertile, fecund and funky.

  • Anonymous

Her ¿bangs? what’s that called? are coming from a weird place, like half an inch past her hairline. Something looks funky there.

  • Anonymous

Alas, the internet. At this point, due to the various tumblrs, the phrase “Hey, girl” might as well have been trademarked by Ryan Gosling in my mind. Even when I say it myself, I just think about Feminist Ryan Gosling.

  • Anonymous

She is glowing, but I don’t like anything she’s wearing.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, she looks great!

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I don’t love the dress either, and the shoes are making my eye twitch, but I agree, she looks radiant and beautiful.  You have to love the look of a pregnant woman!  And oh PS, my daughter is due one week from today!  Yay!

    • Anonymous

Aw congratulations to you and your daughter! I am due to have a child in five years or so, but I am already preparing for mommy-hood (weird baby obsessed college girl here).

  • Anonymous

“Disco earth mother realness”. Awesome. I think I’ll go listen to some Sister Sledge and have a flash back. She looks great.

  • mellbell

I don’t know. Between the hair and dress that’s a lot of gold and brown for one look. But I admire any pregnant woman willing to let herself be photographed.

  • Anonymous

I have to disagree Bey should get a WERQ. She didn’t commit either red carpet pregnant sins; kaftan tent dress or crazy tight so revealing you can make out the sex of the baby dress. Bey just looks beautiful. The not totally matching shoes I can forgive. Your feet do strange things when pregnant whatever works on your feet that doesn’t clash is OK.

  • Joseph Lamour

I’m going to start saying “serious disco earth mother realness” in normal conversation even when it doesn’t apply.

  • Anonymous

I’m mesmerized by her hair. Is that…is that a wig with intentional dark roots as to suggest she stopped dyeing her hair? Just…wow. Slow clap.

    • MilaXX

I’d need a closer pic to really heck, but it looks like a blend in or a half wig.

    • Anonymous

I think that it’s her hair in the front and she has stopped dyeing her hair due to the pregnancy.

  • Ben Miller

    RuPaul is PREGNANT!??!??!??!

    • http://twitter.com/yankeefoxtrot Alex McGeagh

      BWA HA HA HA!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Now this is how you pull off a tight sexy dress while pregnant. Ms. Duff, please take note. I kind of like the gold triangles – they serve to highlight her smallest part while simultaneously pointing to the bump and going, “Yeah? AND WHAT.” And that’s what disco earth mother realness is all about.

    • Anonymous

I was going to post the same thing about Duff.   Also, I’ve had two kids, and you do reach a point of bigness where you just accept it and celebrate it. That ease kicks the pregnancy glow up several notches.

    • MilaXX

THIS! I don’t like those gold triangles, but the dress fits a thousand times better than Ms. Duff”s chartreuse frock did.

  • Anonymous

I think she looks gorgeous here, and I don’t even like the dress that much. She is making it work so damn well.

  • Anonymous

I think the trend of pregnant women wearing form fitting clothes is a wonderful change… however, I can not help breathing a huge sigh of relief that I was pregnant in the tent stage!!   phewwwww…..

  • Judy_J

    She looks radiant.

  • http://profiles.google.com/laura.jane.ogorman Laura O’Gorman

My first thought was “Geez, that dress makes her look pregnant” -___- Well done, me.

  • Anonymous

Awww…Heres hoping the baby looks like her and NOT Jay. Pray hard on that one for the kid’s sake.

  • CQAussie

Beautiful and radiantly pregnant…..LOVE her hair =D

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Ugly dress.  And it’s a little mature for her, baby or no baby.

  • iCouture

The pillow kinda looks like a baby in there today… sorry, still oddly skeptical….  :)

  • Joanna Schuth

She looks like she is OVER being pregnant, but is damned if she’s going to let on.

Now, contrast this with the chartreuse nonsense Hillary Duff was serving up a few days back.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I have to agree with other posters, she looks like she is begging to be in her comfy PJs in bed.  Bless her. And kudos to her, a LONG dress, go Bey!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

I don’t like this hair style on her, but otherwise she looks good.

We should all look so good with a basketball in our kishkas.

    • Anonymous

A basketball that kicks and moves!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

    She looks beautiful.

Yo, Hillary Duff — this is how rocking the Red Carpet pregnancy is done.

  • Anonymous

It seems easier to do the pregnant red carpet is you are a vaguely earthy, boho kind a girl and quite a but tougher if you are fierce diva.  While I don’t love the dress I like that Beyonce looks REALLY pregnant (not the I look like I just ate too much pizza kind a pregnant) and looks like herself.  SO I strongly support T&Lo’s “Hey Girl!”

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CQPXLNCBM5CZSHZZXJDHPVFS7E Buffy

Hillary Duff are you paying attention?  THIS is how you do evening maternity wear and look fabulous *and* comfortable!

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

That’s the best-dressed super-prego lady since Kate Hudson in that yellow dress.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Not my favorite dress, but she has that glow about her.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Is it just the photo or does it look like she leaned her belly against something and got a smudge on her dress? I love to see a pregnant mama showing off her belly but this dress is not really flattering. The part under her baby belly hangs weird. but the top half looks lovely!

  • Anonymous

See, this is what I was looking for for my man’s office Christmas party next month. It is really hard to find fabulous maternity garb. She looks great! I’m curious to see how Vicky of Sweden is doing on the prego-sartorial front.

  • Anonymous

Top half looks great, but the bottom…oops!  The dress is too long to pull off when pregnant.

  • http://www.fatladysings.us/ TFLS

Such a beautiful woman.  Hair and make-up are perfect.  Love the dress color as well.  Style-wise – it’s a no-go…..but she looks so radiant it transcends everything else.
