Amanda Seyfried for Marie Claire

These might as well be makeup ads.

Amanda Seyfried for Marie ClaireAmanda Seyfried appears in the December 2011 issue of Marie Claire magazine photographed by Marcus Ohlsson and styled by Laura Ferrara.

That’s a total face-itorial. We don’t mind. She gives pretty good face, actually. But is it us or does that last picture have a Fanning vibe to it? Like she could be Elle and Dakota’s angrier older sister or something.

      That first b/w is stunning.

      • Anonymous

Yeah, her bone structure is a whoawhat in that one.

    • Anonymous

She looks fine in some pics if not a bit generic but gosh does she bug me.

      • Anonymous

There is just something off about her – the whole head shape, bone structure, eyes wide apart thing. I wonder if she has to turn her head around to see if someone is chasing her.

    • http://www.facebook.com/premal.laxman Premal Laxman

I was totally thinking how much she looks like a Fanning in this spread.

      • http://twitter.com/OracleKath Kathrine Marlow

She DOES look like a Fanning.  Totally older sister in a movie potential

    • Judy_J

Not a fan of the overly-smoky eye…too racoonish.  I prefer the softer look she’s sporting in the third photo.

      • Sobaika Mirza

Especially since her eyes are already so prominent on their own. But even still, she’s a stunner.

      • Anonymous

I call that kind of eye treatment “Momsen Eye” after Taylor Momsen, who apparently put on her eyeliner with a Sharpie when she was ten and is destined to peer through two large black peepholes in perpetuity.  Momsen Eye is never a good look, not even when you’re as beautiful as Ms. Seyfried.

    • AMartel

      “Pretty?”  More like “stunning.”

I don’t understand the face-framing flyaways. They always look messy to me. When I was younger and had yet to master the idea of a hairstyle that wasn’t a ponytail, I had a constant halo of curly blondish flyaways like this, so to me it looks like she came straight from soccer practice.

      • Anonymous

When I was younger, I envied you flyaway people deeply.

        • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

Huh. And I always wanted freckles and/or glasses! Just goes to show that the things we hate about ourselves are sometimes the things everyone else is jealous of.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

I had the curly, and everyone always said ‘I’ll bet you wish your hair was straight!’ but I always liked it the way it was. Just wished I could keep it from being like a dang Brillo pad, but that’s a matter of styling products, which we all know takes a while to learn the art of.

    • http://jessieliz.wordpress.com/ Super Red

I think she looks beautiful here (and totally see the Fanning resemblance) but she seems a little off here. She’s a surprisingly good model, but in this spread she’s really staring THROUGH the camera as opposed to at it…. Like how someone looks when they’re reading a teleprompter; their eyes are juuuuuuuust off.

    • Anonymous

She does have enough eye makeup on to sink a battleship, but most of the photos are still gorgeous.  And it’s nice to see a photo spread where she doesn’t have her mouth hanging open in every single picture!  A few is okay; she definitely gives great face.

      Astute Fashion Bloggers T&Lo said…
“Like she could be Elle and Dakota’s angrier older sister or something.”

Her name is Flame Fanning. She has been estranged from her younger siblings for several years. Disgruntled by their success, she is about to make her own foray into the entertainment world starting with a spread in Interview Magazine in which she burns Dakota and Elle in effigy, naked. This on the heels of a book called: Poor Privileged White Girl–or Why Wasn’t I Exploited and Used by my Parents to make Money and create Fame? I Feel So Unloved.

The title of the book and the cover art were created by her friend Lola Thompson who currently stars in the reality television show Work of Art-The Next Great Artist

      Absolutely stunning young woman.

      • Anonymous

haha oh my lord, flame fanning just made my day infinitely better.

      • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Oh, whatever happened to Baby Flame?

    • Ramona Boersma

Lookswise, I could totally see her playing Bette Davis in a biopic. But she isn’t exactly a Bette Davis kind of actress.

      • Anonymous

Have you ever seen the first season of Veronica Mars? Amanda here could do a bang-up job in a remake of Jezebel (not that I advocate for more remakes). Too bad her acting choices since then have not been on par with her actual talent.

        • Anonymous

Hers have been better than Kristen Bell’s, though. ::sob::

          • Anonymous

Yes. For such a talented actress, she’s been in too many clunkers. I have high hopes for her new Showtime series, though!

            • Ramona Boersma

Looove Veronica Mars. It may have been a role of a lifetime for Kristen Bell, you know? And now it’s in the past.

          • Helen C

Well her role as the voice-over for Gossip Girl is the only character that has dignity there now.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

She has too much sweetness to be Bette.  I’d think an older Dakota Fanning (with some smart makeup) can probably do the job.

    • Anonymous

Stunning. This is the best I’ve ever seen her look.

And yes, she does look like the lost Fanning sister.–GothamTomato

    • Anonymous

She has an interesting and beautiful face. The picture with the jacket and underpants is just icky, the Fannings’ older perverted sister. Love the white dress.

    • Anonymous

The jacket-and-underwear shot says to me, “Ow, my tummy hurts.” She’s very pretty, though.

    • http://twitter.com/AleksandrJohn Alexander Cavaluzzo

YES. Totally see the Fanning connection.

    • MilaXX

Eh’ I don’t mind the red lip shots, but I’m not feeling the heavy eye shots at all. I do have to admit I see a bit of Fanning in her.

    • Anonymous

The third picture has Fanning written all over it, too. Great pictures.

    • Anonymous

I wonder how hard is it to live with the face like this…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1077090078 Megan Sullivan

I like the first three photos the most. Her eyes don’t need much makeup to stand out. Also, she’s stunning.

    • Anonymous

She’s got serious Barbie crotch in that second photo. But my goodness, she is gorgeous.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

She is completely and utterly stunning.  I don’t know why she’s been as grumpy as a very grumpy thing of late but she’s still stunning.

I’m getting a real Michelle Pfeiffer vibe from that fifth shot.

    • Anonymous

Jacket pics first glance-thought she was without any knickers. Yipes.

I really love the black and white shots, I must say. Even though the kohl is a bit heavy-handed. But to me, she was, is, and always will be Karen Smith. “Gretchen, I’m sorry I laughed at you that time you got diarrhea at
      Barnes & Nobles… And I’m sorry for telling everyone… And I’m
sorry for repeating it just now.”

      • Anonymous

To me, she’ll always be Lilly Kane. Veronica Mars FTW!

      • Lisa

“But he’s my first cousin.  See, you have your cousins, then your first cousins, then your second cousins… wait, that’s not right, is it?”

    • Anonymous

I really hate these kinds of editorials, or faceitorials as the case may be (although let’s face it, that second pic is really a crotchitorial, eh?)  There are no pretty clothes to look at, the makeup is overdone and the lighting totally washes her out and makes her look like corpse.  A pretty corpse who’s a victim of a terrible makeup/hair artist, but a corpse nonetheless.

And yes, she looks like a Fanning.  I’ve thought so before, but now that you brought it up…

    • Lisa

It really *does* look like a makeup ad.  It looks like it’s an ad for Dior’s makeup line.  What clothes?

    • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

      What the hell barbie crotch?

      • Anonymous

What The Hell Barbie Crotch is a fantastic band name. LOVE.

I’m sad that magazines seem to want to turn a fairly head-turning girl into another Hollywood clone. I saw a cover (I think of W) with Justin Timberlake where she looked like Mila Kunis in a blonde wig, and in half of these she looks like a Fanning, as you so rightly pointed out. Can’t she just look like herself?

    • Anonymous

      girl’s got good face

Boys, they ARE makeup ads! I bought this magazine for a recent flight. The article tagline says, “We cast new Hollywood golden girl Amanda Seyfried for these gorgeous holiday looks by Cle de Peau makeup genius Lucia Pieroni.” The following pages all have tips on using an orang-red lipstick instead of a blue-red one and a rounded smoky eye to look modern versus an elongated one to look more 60s.

Ha!  I was just thinking that I keep mixing her up with the Fannings.

    • Terence Ng

Michelle Pfeiffer is Emma Frost, and Amanda Seyfried, Dakota Fanning, and Elle Fanning are the Stepford Cuckoos. Love it.

    • Anonymous

She does give good face. Amanda Fanning indeed.

    • Anonymous

Let’s do King Lear, Three Sisters and Crimes of the Heart in revolving rep with Amanda Seyfried and the Fannings. Who needs Redgraves or Cusacks when you have these pale chicks? Amanda as Goneril, Olga and Lenny, Dakota as Regan, Masha and Meg, and Elle as Cordelia, Irina and Babe. I can’t decide which is worse, Dakota Fanning as Masha or Ellle Fanning as Cordelia. Nightmares for me tonight.

    • Anonymous

      She should’ve been a model-actress, not actress-model.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Cookie.Taz Aisa Ginger Jake Psenicnik

i’d think she was hot but she allways looks like she just died a second ago

    • Anonymous

I always like looking at her, and I covet most of that make-up so, you know, well-played, Marie Claire!

    • Anonymous

wow, she looks insanely good in these pictures!
and yes, there’s a Fanning resemblance in the last picture

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

She’s lovely but this spread does nothing for me.  Totally generic and manufactured.  Yawn.

    • Anonymous

The photo on the home page: I thought that was one of the Fannings. Dakota, Elle,  Amanda, Olsens, Chloe Moretz – I get them all confused with each other.

Yes, pretty pictures. Nothing original or exciting though.

    • Anonymous

Stunning girl.  But not a model.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Yeah, I’m gonna need that red lipstick.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

Wow, she looks fabulous. Love the pictures.

    • Anonymous

i think they all look fanningesque.
as someone who pays little attention to mass media i actually briefly thought the first three were fannings. or once removed. maybe twice. but no more.

    • Susan Crawford

She has THE most amazing eyes I’ve ever seen outside of an anime film festival. Just unearthly and beautiful.

    • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

Her face looks great, but her hair in most of those is making me want to cry.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

She is stunning. She works the camera like few other actresses out there. And I LOVE the Fanning reference.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

Unreal, she looks like a real-life Bratz doll, with those huge eyes and luscious lips.

    • Anonymous

      She’s very striking. Gorgeous pics.

    • http://twitter.com/pointlesswords jaymeglynn

she’s stunning, but those lips in the last picture look like she hasn’t had a drink of water in weeks… what is up with that?

    • Anonymous

These are fantastic photos of her.

    • Anonymous

The word stunning has been used entirely too much in these comments…

    • Anonymous

I wish she was wearing real pants under that jacket because when I scrolled down for a moment I was like, WOAH NAKED. Very pretty though.

    • Anonymous

The last picture looks like someone punched her in the eye.

    • http://onionjam.tumblr.com SkipperJane

I get the magazine, and yes it is a makeup/facetorial – the focus was on the makeup style/varieties, not the clothes.

    • Anonymous

good to see flyaways are in.
