8th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Posted on November 15, 2011

Yes, there are even more red carpet rundowns to go through, poodles. Don’t blame us. Hollywood can’t stop giving itself awards and throwing itself parties. We’ll be brief because you are all no doubt very busy people with more important things on your minds.

Amanda Seyfried in Prabal Gurung

Too much visual noise at the bottom of the skirt and the top of the shoes, but otherwise, a cute look.

What’s YOUR problem, Miss Thing?

Chloe Moretz in Suno

It’s not pretty, exactly, but it’s so interesting that we’re willing to give her a gentle pat on the head for experimenting.

Karine Vanasse

Yikes. Sweetie, we love you on Pan Am, but this is no way to pose at an event like this and in a sheer belly-baring top. Clearly, you have not availed yourself of the services of a stylist. May we suggest you consider doing so? Then we do.

Mia Wasikowska in Rodarte

She looks like an octogenarian whose sleeves just fell off. Great color, but there’s little that’s youthful about this look.

Olivia Wilde in Cushnie et Ochs

Not gonna lie, she looks a little draggy here.

Rooney Mara in Calvin Klein

Oh, man. That’s not good.

Zoe Kravitz in Alexander Wang

Those shoes would look fantastic with a pair of pants, but they’re all wrong for this dress, which is pretty great.

This just in: Rooney Mara’s beauty icon is an alien. Expect the look on runways everywhere, Pre-Fall 2012.

  • Sobaika Mirza

What’s with the super short bangs – on Rooney Mara and Zoe Kravitz? That’s not a cute look. I think Zoe’s are asymmetrical *shudder*

    • I think with Rooney Mara it’s probably still a holdover while she grows out her hair from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Of course, considering that the movie is coming out next month, it probably wrapped shooting long enough ago that she could do something different.

      • aimee_parrott

She may be keeping her hair that way for the sequels — there’s no way they’re stopping after the first one, she’s probably already locked in for the whole trilogy.  Still, a wig would have been better.  She looks tragic.

        • Anonymous

Give the girl some vitamins because it looks like she’s not going to make it through three movies.

          • Yeah, she kind of looks like she needs a blood transfusion.

    • Anonymous

Maybe Zoe’s wig is sliding off.

    • Uh-oh. I fear baby bangs are back. There aren’t that many women who can get away with them, and too many women who think they can. I think they look awesome on Rooney Mara. On the other hand, Zoe looks like she cut her own bangs. With a pair of kitchen scissors. In the dark.

      • That’s exactly what I was going to say. My daughter did the same thing, with the same results. She is 5.

    • Anonymous

not just asymmetrical, they look like an accident. Like she cut her own bangs and missed a huge chunk.

    • I know, I haven’t seen haircuts like that since I was 6 and managed to obtain a pair of scissors.

      • Anonymous

        I was 8, same story.

  • Rooney has her holidays crossed. Halloween is over. The zombie bride costume needs to get tucked away for another year. Yikes, on so many levels.

  • Ebony Dawkins

Can we talk about Karine Vanasse’s shoes.

    • Sobaika Mirza

Is it just my imagination or do they involve plastic…?

    • Anonymous

      Theyre HIDDY, I’d rather not!

    • Now I am The Bee

Well–I like them!  Better than huge hoofy shoes…

      • Anonymous

I think she looks kind of cute!

      • Indeed. I am so sick of big, ugly shoes.

In fact, I love everything she’s wearing.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know who Rooney Mara is, but I think she’s dead.

    • Anonymous

She’s the girl with the dragon tattoo in that new movie. I think she’s trying to hawk her movie by looking like a psuedo-goth.

  • Anonymous

Who did this to you, Rooney, and why?

  • Anonymous

Huh. I liked Rooney Mara’s look. Even if I don’t know who she is.

    • Anonymous

I like it too, but I’m biased. I always try to emphasize my own paleness by wearing washed out colors, so I like the look.

  • 100% Fail

  • Anonymous

What the hell is wrong with these people?  Do they not own mirrors?

  • Yes, we do have more important things on our mind….like, the reveal of SEASON 4 girls on RPDR.  Are you gonna do a superficial rundown of all the interviews????  PLEASE, I live for your RPDR blogs

Moretz and Kravitz wore great dresses but failed in their footwear choices. Shame.

  • Anonymous

I wouldn’t accuse any of these women of looking well-styled. Universal thumbs down.

  • That Rodarte dress on Mia W. is a missed opportunity. Call Zoe – she could WERQ it. Seriously, I am pretty sure there is an incredible dress in there but Mia should just stop going to these things because she can’t work the carpet.

    • I think most of the time, Mia W. almost gets it, but something is always wrong, and glaringly so. This is no exception.

  • Anonymous

    Who ARE these people?

    Rooney Mara–yikes.

I liked the sort of kimono-style dress.

  • Zoe Kravitz’s dress doesn’t look like it quite fits right.  Her hair looks terrible.  And Rooney Mara… is she off to a Marilyn Manson concert after?

    • Anonymous

WTF is up with Zoe K’s hair?!? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it look good, and that girl is blessed with some amazing genes.

  • All these women’s looks mean to say “I don’t give a shit, I just showed up”.  Bravo.

  • Anonymous

Apparently there aren’t enough good dress for all of the functions these women need to attend.

  • Anonymous

Ew. Zoe Kravitz looks like she is in someone’s back yard and should have a beer in her right hand.  Hiddy.

  • Anonymous

This is a parade of fug. Incredible, considering the participants.

  • Anonymous

Jeepers, girls. This doesn’t have to *that* hard. Why do none of you look awesome? How did that come to be?

  • Anonymous

Why is Mia wearing an ugly rayon office dress from 1982?

    • Anonymous

It is by far one of the fugliest things I’ve seen. The color is cold, the shape -in TLo’s words- is too complicated for its own good and the fabric  looks like fire hazard.

Then again, I’ve never seen a Rodarte I liked (and I hated this before I knew it was Rodarte)

  • Oh Rooney. She looks like the ghost of a grey that was subjected to experimentation at Roswell.

PLease PLEASE tell me you guys are preparing the RPDR season 4 meet the girls as we speak!

  • Shannon Twigg

Olivia’s dress reminds me of Marla’s dress for the Nikki Hilton challenge.

    • MilaXX

I just typed the same thing

  • Anonymous

It’s just a cornucopia of fug. Are they all vampires and couldn’t see their reflections in the mirror? Otherwise, there’s no excuse.

    • Anonymous

      cornucopia of fug
I kind of love that. You took one of the hardest words in the English language to work into a conversation and made it work!

  • Anonymous

    Wow, these are pretty bad.

  • Rooney’s makeup and hair remind me of a dominatrix, and her dress and shoes look like someone on her way to Easter Sunday. SO poorly matched. Blech.

  • Anonymous

When does Chloe Moretz have time to do her homework? That little girl is out every night.

  • Anonymous

Wow all of those looks were not good. Terrible.

  • Sam

Hey, I’m just greatful that I actually know who some of these people are.

  • Amanda:  Gurrl, get yourself to those anger management classes, stat.
Chole:  Kind love the dress, but why are there old fishing nets on your shoes?  Its crabbing season I know, but you use cages for those.
Karine: doing a DIY project with the leftovers from the dungeon/playroom is great, but not on the red carpet. And wear shoes that fit you.
    Mia: Not. Your. Dress.
Olivia: You are way too young and lovely to be trying that hard. Dial it back girlfriend.
    Rooney: I just, um,….I just can’t.
Zoe: Nice try.  Great, great dress. Fix that hair, I am begging you. Its looks totally fried.

  • Now I am The Bee

“… because you are all no doubt very busy people with more important things on your minds.”  Ahahahahaahhhahaha.  Important things.  That’s why we’re all logging in here five times a day!  😉
No seriously.  I love youse guys and your blog is a bright spot in my sad little day.

Anyway–the fashion.  It’s all very young starlets wearing cute clothes.  Except for those netty-looking open toed bootie things that Chloe is wearing  Those are just awful.

  • Olivia Wilde is wearing the dress Marla made for Nicky Hilton in PR Season 2.

    • That’s what I was going to say! The dress that Marla, ahem, “designed”.

  • I actually like Rooney’s look. The hair was perfect for the dress, and the makeup is just enough to keep her from looking washed out. It would’ve been nice if she accessorized with some bracelets, but you’ve got to hand it to her for not going overboard.

It has this kind of futuristic Tim Burton vibe, which isn’t necessarilly a bad thing.

  • Anonymous

    Is that Chloe Olson?

Does Zoe Kravitz cut her own bangs?

  • Anonymous

I didn’t think it was possible to make Olivia Wilde look dumpy and waistless, but I guess they found a way. And I actually think Rooney Mara looks really cool, in a SWINTON/Lisbeth Salander kind of way (which, obviously, makes sense).

  • Anonymous

Actually, I think Chloe is far and away the winner here.

No love for Rooney Mara? She can do better, but at least she’s got panache.

  • MilaXX

Chloe Moretz seems to be channeling an Olsen twin.
Olivia Wilde looks like she’s wearing that Nicky Hilton dress Marla copied in PR season 3 I think it was.
Apparently no one told Rooney that dark lips like that only work with dark colors.

  • Rooney looks very delicate, not at all like she does in character on the cover of EW wrapped around Daniel Craig.  Wot a HOT photo!
I’d like to wrap around him like a scratching post.

  • Am I crazy for thinking Rooney Mara looks pretty good here?

    • Anonymous

That was my favorite look too.

  • J Dreesen

i think Mia and Olivia grabbed each other’s dresses off the stylist’s rack by mistake.

  • Sweet Jesus, someone give Rooney Mara a sweater and a cookie, stat!

  • Anonymous

Did anyone scream out loud when they scrolled down over Rooney Mara?

  • Alyssa Haning

  • Anonymous

That was one tragic red carpet. Good lord.

  • Anonymous

Zoe – hair up, metallic shoe – presto chango, werq!  I love this red carpet for the simple fact that it is not boring.  The color of Mia’s dress blows me away, though I certainly see the Nylund effect you mentioned.

  • I don’t think it helps that all of the photos are shot from what appears to be an unflattering camera angle – it’s like it’s higher up than normal, making everyone appear rather top-heavy.

  • Anonymous

Mia Wasikowska brought the cleaning lady hair again. That dress is hard to wear – it’s abominable on her.

You are so right, Chloe Moretz deserves to be commended for trying something different. I really like those shoes – fun and a great color.
    But her hair needs work.

  • Anonymous

That Alexander Wang dress is killer!

  • Anonymous

How sad is it that Olivia Wilde is the oldest one here.

  • Anonymous

Hollywood is patting itself on the back at so many gala events that it has created an obvious shortage of beautiful clothing.  Leaving all these D-listers to scrounge around on the closet floor for stuff nobody wanted and that has fallen off the hanger.

Or, to put it another way, DAMN, these are some fugly looks!

Chloe Moretz looks exactly like Anais Nin in that photograph.

  • nicole seligman

chloe’s make up and hair look amazing. also mia’s. i agree with all the short bangs hate on rooney and zoe.

  • Anonymous

You’re NOT going to comment on Zoe Kravitz’s hair? She lobbed you an easy one!

  • I must say that I love all the outfits here — so much more interesting than the standard Red Carpet fare, especially the shoes. No silly putty pumps for this crowd!

  • Anonymous

Amanda- Love the dress, hate the shoes.
Chloe- Hate the whole outfit. I don’t care if she’s just a kid. She bugs.
Karine- I used to pose like that when I was like, 5 years old. Usually it was followed by me spinning around to make my skirt flare out.
Mia- I’m sorry, that thing is just plain ugly. Looks like that too-shiny metallic gift wrap from the dollar store. And what’s with the sensible shoes?
Olivia- I’m trying to like it, but I just can’t.
Rooney- Moe Howard called. He wants his hair back.
Zoe- Forget the dress, what happened to her hair?

  • Anonymous

I saw what Olivia Wilde is wearing, and my first thought was the episode of PR with some socialite (was it the Olsen girl one?  IDK), where one of the designers badly copied one of the looks from the dosier… Isn’t this just the same dress, again?  o.0

    • Tatiana Luján

It was when Marla copied a dress Nicky Hilton already had, made by Chloé.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Rooney Mara is WERQing it so hard she’s in SWINTON-land? She looks incredible (in a good way)!

Chloe Moretz – finally looking good without trying too hard. Just hope she doesn’t go too far into Olsen-ville.

Olivia Wilde – proportions are all wrong!

Zoe Kravitz – would look great without those bangs

  • Didn’t someone on PR once make a look like Olivia Wilde’s?  I know, TLo, I shouldn’t allow my memory to fail me as such.

  • Anonymous

Other than Zoe Kravitz I’m not into any of these looks.  Rooney Mara:  The bony upper torso is scaring me.  Looks like an advertisement for some kind of clinic for tubercular patients.  But the bottom half of the dress is great.

  • Anonymous

Can I please scrub that horrible lipstick off Rooney & fluff Zoe’s bangs?  Please?!

  • Anonymous

Ankle strap shoes are never worn with pants unless you just don’t like ankle strap shoes.

  • kerry dee

Rooney looks amazing, I don’t know what you all are talking about…

  • Anonymous

Getting a real a-hole vibe from the lovely Miss Soyfried these days.
Chloe is bringing it. It being something NOT vanilla and still attractive of late. I like this lil one.
And Olivia Wilde went from “Who?” to “done with” faster than just about anyone in recent memory (for me)
