WERQ: Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Dolce & Gabbana

Posted on October 18, 2011

We are totally digging Mary Elizabeth’s sexy-sweet red carpet stylings lately.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Dolce & GabbanaMary Elizabeth Winstead attends the Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2011″ awards held at Universal Studios in a Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with a ‘Mabel’ clutch by Sedgwick.

Very polished and pretty and put together, with a youthful sort of elegance. Truth be told, we think we love her most for having such great hair. No yoga or errand-running hair for M.E.; girl gets her hair done when she’s got somewhere to be. Would that more ladies followed her lead. The dress is great, although the lace insets don’t set us on fire. But any gal who rocks the shiny hair, bangs, and little puffy cap sleeves with a demure neckline and still looks sexy doing it gets a “You WERQ that sexy sister-wife shit, girl!” from us.

    Fabulous.

Let’s hear it for washed hair!

    • Anonymous

      yea!

Ew. Uhm, no. That gets an OUT from me. Stars & lace insets? C’mon. Hideous.

I think T&Lo are blinded by her shiny hair and sparkling eyes.  I can hardly blame them.  But she can work it all she wants, that dress is still uh-glee.

    • Sobaika Mirza

I think this is a case of a right dress on the right girl, executed correctly. On anyone else, it wouldn’t hug their body the same way, we’d be whining about the lace and the print, they’d have the wrong hair and makeup, etc.

But she is making this entire look sing, and that’s a WERQ if there ever was one.

  • Anonymous

Gorgeous! She looks stunning. Also love how the dress is elegant, whimsical, and ironic, all at the same time. Great choice!

  • Anonymous

Sorry,  but I can’t get behind a WERQ for this dress.  She looks lovely, hair, makeup all fine here.  But the dress is just a wrinkled mess of hideous.  The lace just makes it look badly sown and bunch.  Sorry, it’s a no go.

I know we’re not supposed to comment on a star’s physical appearance…. but her bootie is FANTASTIC. This is coming from a gay, bt dubs.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

It’s acceptable as long as it’s a flattering way — it’s just not nice to bash:)

I was thinking the same thing! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go run and do lunges.

I miss Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio. But that’s me.

    • Anonymous

      Me too!

  • Anonymous

She looks adorbs, but I am already completely sick of that Dolce & Gabbana star print.

  • Anonymous

What is it with all the too-long hems this month?

  • http://profiles.google.com/valencia.lucia87 Lucía Valencia

Oh noes, not a WERQ. More like an OUT.

  • Ruth Preston

Not loving the dress (especially in the straight-on shot), but she looks faboo otherwise. Kind of like a sexier Princess Shinylocks.

  • http://twitter.com/herong Heron

    LOVE this dress.  Want.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

WERQ? Sorry TLo, I respectfully disagree.  That hair is enough for an OUT.  But the dress doesn’t seem to fit correctly in the chest and waist area.  I do at least, give her butt a WERQ.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I love that the dress has personality.  I hate the dress, but it isn’t another boring standard dress, so she gets points.

Also love the hair, but I’d like a little more versatility going forward.  Right now it’s great, but if I have to see the same look every time I see her (Princess Kate, this means you too) it’ll get old.  I think she’s got another 6 weeks and then I want something different at least once:)

  • Sara__B

The lace cut-outs ruin an otherwise flawless look.

  • Anonymous

She and the hair look very pretty. The dress looks like you’d find it in the remainder rack at Forever 21. It really looks cheap.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

I don’t care for the bangs, but I’m jealous of the tiny waist with the not tiny caboose.  WERQ it, girl!

  • Anonymous

Not a fan of the stars, but everything else is fab. She looks gorgeous.

  • Anonymous

a great fit goes a long way! Very effortlessly looking WERQ

  • Anonymous

With that luminous skin and the retro styling, she seems a bit like a mainstream Dita Von Teese to me.

  • Anonymous

Hm. I don’t love that dress. Stars and lace insets? I dunno.
I will say that she looks really great in the dress, though, and her hair and makeup are really pretty. I don’t know about a WERQ, but I’ll definitely give her an IN for making the dress look better than it is.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

The lace cut-outs make her boobs look small and “cross-eyed” and that doesn’t werq for me.

  • Anonymous

She sort of a reminds me of Phoebe Cates. Not on the same level-Phoebe was ingrained into the American consciousness-but she’s having a moment. WERQ it.

  • http://twitter.com/verascity Vera Sticker

The dress is ugly as hell. I think y’all are distracted by her great hair and the fact that the body under the dress is totally insane. (Edit: I mean insane in a good way, obviously. Look at her!)

    • Anonymous

I have to agree. Hate that dress. “Sister-wife” is just what it looks like. Poufy capped sleeves and those hideous inserts–no. Just no. Remove sleeves, rip off inserts, and you have something beautiful.

But she is lovely, and her hair? Yes. Just yes.

  • Vaniljekjeks

She looks incredible.  I have never seen anyone pull off the stars like that before.  I think I love her.

  • http://www.manoneileen.com Manon Eileen

    Wow, her hair is gorgeous!

  • Anonymous

    Ramona looks FAB!!!

  • http://twitter.com/chocoholiccynic Ina Partosa

    That print is awful.

  • MilaXX

I think she looks very pretty but given the event and the fact that the men pretty much wore clothes fot for shopping at home depot, I wish the dress was knee length.

  • Anna Kane

I still can”t believe that’s Ramona Flowers. But, she still looks good. IN

  • Anonymous

She manages to pull off that dress. But that dress should never be pulled on in the first place.

  • http://twitter.com/RobertSanchez36 Robert Sanchez

Not feeling the dress personally, but her hair looks good. Anything that will get starlets away from oily, uncombed rat’s nests.

  • Anonymous

Am I supposed to know who she is?

  • Anonymous

dress shows off the booty well. dislike the fabric and the sleeves, sorry.

  • Anonymous

I have yet to be swayed from my anti-star-print stance.  Her hair is cute, but the thing that stands out the most is her tiny waist that’s obviously not photoshopped.  Wow!

  • Anonymous

the lace on her boobs makes it look crude. out.

  • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

She looks fairly fab from the side but I can’t shake the thought that the front is so very weirdly fitted. The shoulders especially pull the eye and not, in my opinion, in a good way.

    • Anonymous

I agree.  She should side step her way into and out of every room.  The side silhouette makes up for the odd front.

  • Anonymous

Who is this actress?  And why is she wearing her 10-year old niece’s Sorcerer costume?

  • Anonymous

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy?  Hate the stupid kindergarten stars (Dolce & Gabbana, you so lucked out on the inexplicable popularity of this motif), hate the lumpy cap sleeves, hate the lace Rorschach blob on her torso, hate the wispy straightened neo-mall-bangs with the wavy hair, hate the spackled-on makeup foundation.  I would, however, give many, many things for hair that lustrous, and the dress does great things for her (obviously fine) booty.

  • Anonymous

I can’t get past those stars.

  • Lisa

I really love her whole look!  WERQ!!

  • Anonymous

Normally I wouldn’t like the dress at all, but dang if this girl isn’t making it WERQ. She looks beautiful and I want her hair.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

i keep seeing ava gardner. i know they’re only distantly related, but just something in the shape of the eyes. can’t say she’s that level of superhuman gorgeous, but that eye shape is really set off by her bangs

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=583505025 Kelley Comfort

I wish it were a bit shorter. The long hemline doesn’t seem to match the top half of the dress. I guess for rc she needed a long dress. Otherwise, she looks fabulous! Finally a dress from D&G’s A/W 2011 that I really like!

  • Anonymous

    She does look great.

  • BerlinerNYC

I just see slutty sister-wife thawed out from the 80s. She might as well have gone totally period and worn Laura Ashley… and curled the bangs, to look like the girls I went to high school with in Georgia in the late 80s. Yuck.

  • Anonymous

Love the silhouette, loathe the stars.  Maybe if they were embroidered like the dress Madonna wore to the Met Gala, but as is they remind of Walmart quilt fabric.   Grooming is gorgeous, too.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

I wish my ass looked like hers.

  • Colleen Mitchell

    Booty tooch!

  • Anonymous

She looks fantastic.  But DEAR LORD, her waist is practically non-existent in the second-to-last picture.  How is she breathing?

  • Anonymous

OUT! Sorry TLo, I really can’t get over the stars on the dress. Plus, I don’t really like the hairstyle, even if it is lovely shiny hair.

  • Julie Woodson

    Adorable. LOVE the hair.

  • Anonymous

    LOVE!

  • http://twitter.com/RzYoung RzYoung

LUV IT! Wow, her hair is gorgeous and i just love that dress

  • Anonymous

She looks gorgeous. And she has a great butt.

  • Anonymous

    …DEM STARS.

get me a fucking bolt (or five) of that fabric so i can wrap my stubby limbs around it and coo sweet nothings to it for a full week to a month before i start churning out cocktail dresses for fat girls with it

  • Jessica Rowe

Totally agreed.  And, she’s in Scott Pilgrim… so she can do no wrong.

  • Anonymous

I dunno.  Somehow the look reads a little too much Betty Page for me, and I am eager for the whole Betty Page thing to be over.

  • Anonymous

    Nice ass!
