WERQ: Lady Gaga in Stéphane Rolland

Posted on October 24, 2011

Steffi. Girl. Can we tell you how much we’re loving this latest drag of yours? What shall we call this one? Charity diva? Showy socialite? Greek shipping magnate widow? Such delicious possibilities.

Us? We’re partial to calling it “Early ’60s Joan Crawford.” You WERQ that shit, girl! Don’t ever go back to the horns and the egg bullshit again, mkay?

That is a SICK dress.  She looks ravishing.

Ginger handler is back! She looks amazing. So glad she figured out how to make a statement without getting mostly naked. I’m gonna go with Greek shipping magnate widow.

      • Anonymous

I noticed that about her handler, too! Yay! Don’t ever leave us again, ginger.

      • Anonymous

woohoo, GH!  He looks quite nice in his suit, huh?

      • Anonymous

I agree. Greek shipping magnate widow it is!

    • Anonymous

Very Betty in Rome. I love it too.

      Ology.

    • Stefanos Mantyla

She does look so much better than Katy Perry in that penis get-up; I will give her that much.

      Those are sandals???

    • Anonymous

I vote for Greek shipping magnate widow. Really though, I’m glad that she’s seeing that she can still look fabulous and stand out without having to resort to the gimmicky craziness.

    • Anonymous

Widow of a Greek shipping magnate, for sure.  And only she could make that hair work.

      But how are those “sandals”?

    • Anonymous

Love this look. Attention-getting and show-stopping without being ridiculous.

      • Anonymous

        Ditto

    • Anonymous

Love the shoes. Love the gloves. She looks absolutely divine.

    • Anonymous

Ever since she began with the retro glamour phase, she has annoyed me much less. That and her duet with Tony Bennett.

      • MilaXX

I bought that CD and I have to say hers and the one with Amy Whinehouse are the best on the cd.

        • Anonymous

She’s at her best when she’s sitting at the piano. There’s talent underneath all that. It just tends to get buried under all the crazy.

          • MilaXX

agreed. it’s also why I don’t mind the wacky as much. Girl has the talent to back it up

    • Vaniljekjeks

Fabulous.  I am also loving how her handlers are becoming lovely dishy little accessories.

    • http://profiles.google.com/valencia.lucia87 Lucía Valencia

      Those shades are FIERCE!

    • Anonymous

omg she’s looking TOO FUCKING AMAZING! werq bish!!!

    • BuffaloBarbara

Man, I usually ignore accessories, but in comparing this to the model shot?  That necklace makes the look.  It’s awesome.

    • Patty Wetli

Love it! If you have gazillions of dollars and can afford the most beautiful clothes money can buy, why not look gorgeous.

    • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

Man, if I had that much money, a body like that, unusual good looks, and also were a woman, I’d dress up in gorgeous, eye-catching just like this every time I went out in public. I’d have 10 necklaces just like that one, just because I could.

Oh, to be Lady Gaga. Girl, I’m not a big fan of your music, but I sure as hell wish I had your confidence and style.

Her transformation into younger Madonna is complete…

      • Anonymous

        Heh.

        Madonna was 36 in 1989.

    • Anonymous

Very glamorous.  No one else could get away with this.  Love the hair, love the green highlights.  My only gripe is that the gloves look a bit thick, maybe a size too big or lined with something bulky.  She has gone from disgusting to fabulous.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_B53PQYXSJR4YJBV3J6BWYSICRQ Jamie

      FABULOUS!

      She has some fabulous sunglasses.

She has never looked better. WERQ!!

      Super kamehameha WERQ

    • Joyce VG

The green streak in her hair matches her awesome sunglasses!  Loves it. Wow. Lady Gaga looks divine.

    • Anonymous

Very smart in the British sense. And those are some big stones she has!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

WERQ.  I knew she had it in her.

    • MilaXX

      Pretty!

    • Anonymous

WERQ, for sure! Talk about the right dress on the right woman. Others can try but they’ll never pull it off so well. You go Gaga!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

LOVE the green streak in her hair that pairs with the green in her glasses frames.  She looks AWESOMELY hot.  And then there’s that handler of hers,…..(sighing a little)

      • Anonymous

Oh, I hadn’t even noticed the green streak in her hair–thanks for pointing it out!  And here I was wondering why she abandoned her “mint” phase so quickly.

    • Anonymous

I love that dress, but I want to know how it looks from the back. I fear it may not be complimentary to most rear ends.

But yeah, that is an amazing look. A WERQ indeed.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1303837450 Lauren Dorsee Dillon

I’d love to have/wear that dress, which is more than I’ve said about her previous ensembles. WERQ indeed.

    • Rand Ortega

GORGE! Like a blond Maria Callas, she oozes talent & regal chic. WERQn it like she just paid the rent & still had money for dinner!

      • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

        totally agree, CALLAS!!! and superb.

    • Anonymous

I love it!! She looks amazing.

    • Anonymous

She looks fab – love those sunglasses. Also, I may be late to the party, but I just heard her duet with Tony Bennett – The Lady is a Tramp – and it’s music GOLD I tells ya!

Greek shipping magnate widow doing Joan Crawford. The dress is simply gorgeous so she looks better than usual.

    • Anonymous

      absolutely ADORE

    • Anonymous

Olsen girls, take note. If you insist on looking old before your time, this is the way to do it. Not that Lady Gaga looks old or dated. She looks fabulous! ALMOST makes me wish long gloves were back in fashion.

    • Anonymous

LOVE everything but the shoes. And honestly, if I loved a pair of Gaga shoes, it’d mean she’d been taken over by pod people.

Especially love the sunglasses & hair.

    • Anonymous

Yep, everything but the shoes. Did she hire Dita as her new stylist? Whatever she’s doing, it’s working. Or werquing.

    • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

Aubrey did it better. I’m not sure I love Gaga in “normal” clothes. Or maybe it’s just the green streak in her hair that’s ruining the look for me. The green looks faded and accidental rather than her usual on-purpose-accent.

    • Maria Rosenfire

*Makes a comment about not caring about Lady Gaga, ignoring the hypocrisy of taking the time to write an entire comment about someone that one purportedly doesn’t give a flying monkey’s behind about*

    • Terence Ng

Hate the shoes, but everything else is pretty much Karen Walker faboo. Good for her.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BA6BTBV4V3MQRX6K2HDEL7Y7TU MerridithK

DAYUM!  Now THAT’S what a superstar looks like.

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Jaw-fff-ing-dropping. I hate to sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but it’s so great to see her being outrageous by wearing actual clothes instead of obvious costumes.

I’m dying over the hair. And the shoes. And everything in between. She’s head to toe perfect.

    • Anonymous

She is moving into Daphne Guinness territory.

    • Anonymous

Among everything that she is totally pulling off (hair, makeup, jewelry, dress)  I particularly like the sunglasses at night, however, I do think the opera gloves were a tad too much. Her pale arms would have looked so elegant against the cape.

    • Lori

WERQ it, Mother Monster!  But I kinda love her stunt-dressing too, here and there; it makes me laugh.

    • Anonymous

Monica Vitti and Joan Crawford had a baby = this lovely get up.  Midwife:  Rudolph Valentino’s Lady in Black.   Love those shoes.  I love it when she lets her northern Italian beauty shine.  Even if that’s not the case.  She was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in minimal make-up, face-on some months ago and looked amazing.  Like a Renaissance painting.  What’s the name of the New York socialite-fashion gal who always wore the big round sunglasses?

    • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

      Fuckin’ fierce!

    • Anonymous

Love the direction her styling has taken lately.  All the wonderful retro-esque couture truly suits her, much better than a slab of ribs as a skirt.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

She looks good, and this is much better than naked. But I like it better on the model. Plus she has better shoes.

    • Anonymous

      Good God.  Bow down, bitches!

    • Anonymous

The “crazy rich bitch” look really suits her!

“No more meat dresses…..EVER!”  Gaga looks fabulous in this tres chic ’60’s movie star drag.

LOVE the jewelry – it really does make the look. Whose is it?

Tear down that BITCH of a bearing wall and put a window where it OUGHT to be!

      KVELLING.

For me this only WERQs because of the contrast to her “other” wardrobe. If she weren’t known for her creative costuming I’m not sure what I would think of her adventures in couture.

    • Anonymous

      now THAT is WERQ!

    • Anonymous

WERQ!  That dress is spectacular, and working the JC look is awesome.  She looks classy and interesting all at the same time.

And both of the handlers…rawr!  Glad to see ginger in his rightful place.

    • Anonymous

Wait. I accidentally substituted my mom’s birth year. LOL

      31 that should be.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

Yes, this is the direction I think Gaga should go. Lose the performance art meat dress era and move into wearing couture styled to within an inch of its life. Very cool.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PVIY3NBCZJAJNFWDBCWG2DMKL4 Jen R

I like it but I’m having a hard time with what appears to be a saggy bust. The dart should end an inch from the bust point. Either the dress is shiny enough to give an optical illusion or she’s not wearing a bra, because those boobs are not in the right place in the dress from what I can see.

Additionally, this dress seems to make her look really flat-chested, which is strange to me.

    • Anonymous

“Greek shipping magnate’s widow”  HA!  Funny and sly, love it.  I also absolutely love this look, though I wish she’d either go with a totally unnatural color (Rhianna’s ketchup red, Katy Perry’s blue) or just be blonde.  The chicken-fat-yellow or Hedda Lettuce highlights drive me nuts.

    • Cheri Lee

I getting serious Karen Walker from this outfit…WERQ!

    • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

i think this is the best she’s ever looked.

i’m sure she’s taken cues from somebody here– but thats okay, theyre just cues. everybody does that. i cant think of someone here whose entire signature style she’s just stuffed on top of herself, & for her, wow, thats an improvement. also my guess is that deep down this is her personality: rich, vaguely staid w/ an even & ever more so vague tiny bit of the avant garde thrown on top. if she stays this way i might even begin to like her. a little.
