JESUS CHRIST ON A BREADSTICK, girl! Could you please STOP being so fuck-you fabulous ALL THE TIME? We would like to start handing out the WERQs to someone other than you every once in a while!

Oh, Evan Rachel Wood. Let’s not stay mad at each other. But would you mind it if we didn’t drop to our knees at the sight of you all the time? It’s not that we don’t want to; it’s just that we don’t think our knees can take much more.

But you keep WERQing that Rosemary’s Baby shit, girl! Snaps up! Love your boots!

sigh….  I’d lust over her but that would put me in the lech category.

  • Sobaika Mirza

This is madness. Anyone else would look ridiculous and twee, and she’s WERQing.

    I give up.

    • My theory:  she just BELIEVES it.  And since she so very much BELIEVES it, so do we.  Go grrl.

    • Agree. This post finally made me own up to my girl crush on her. Sigh. I got to see her perform in public. Just as pretty in person!

      • Anonymous

agreed with the believing! She is gorgeous. Wish she hadn’t dated Marilyn Manson. Still creeps me out!

        • Anonymous

I feel the same about Dita von Teese.

  • DH

Dammit, I want to be HER when I grow up.

  • Anonymous

…Really?  Just because it’s referential of something great doesn’t make it great.  The sleeves are too voluminous and it’s doing weird things to her bust.  The headband was a poor choice for her hairstyle and it’s all just a little too…mod nun for me.

    • Mod nun.  Bwaaahahhhaaa.

      • “Mod Nun” is exactly WHY it’s so freaking fabulous.

        • Anonymous

Really?  I think she looks dumpy from the easter basket makeup to the potato sack fit.  I guess it takes all kinds.

          • Anonymous

Agreed! I think she’s been doing well recently but I think TLo have an Anya-like affectation toward this one. Certainly she’s come a long way since her dating-Marilyn-Manson days, but she is no fashion icon, not to me at least.

          • Is it so unbelievable to you when faced with an opinion you don’t share that you have to start each comment with “Really?”

          • MilaXX

I’m guilty of starting sentences with “Really?” as well. However it has been pointed out to me it’s sort of like starting a post with “Um”. In other words no matter how it may sound when you say it in real life, online it comes across as the cyber equivelent of an eye roll. It’s a bad habit I’m trying to break.

          • Anonymous

I try not to use well/um/er/really or other throat clearing sentence starters now too. I remind myself that if I won’t allow the kids I teach to use cool/interesting/awesome/nice/very/sort of when they write, I have to pay attention to my own lazy writing habits as well.

          • Oh crap, I’m guilty of that too, and hadn’t even realized how snotty it is!

          • Anonymous

That’s fair.  Considering I rarely found Mila’s aesthetic fashionable or flattering, this look isn’t really to my taste and I probably didn’t give it a fair, impartial judgment.

You can never be TOO mod nun!

  • Valerie Little

    That is chic as hell!

  • Chloe K. Evil

    That’s adorable. I love it.

  • She looks better than the model!

  • Anonymous

TLo, on behalf of your faithful minions, when you do get a chance to interview her, will you please ask her about her skin care routine????  JESUS CHRIST, talk about a perfect canvas on which to paint “fabulous”.

    • Anonymous

Seriously true – her complexion is a.maz.ing.

  • Joseph Davidson

It’s interesting that Alexa Chung designed this dress because I feel like Alexa Chung wears this exact outfit (and to some extent so do  Zooey Deschanel and Michelle Williams) all the time, and whenever she does I always want to slug her because she looks like an adult in a Madeline schoolgirl costume.  So how is ERW pulling this off?  She looks really great and I’m not annoyed at all.  Props to ERW, or whoever is styling her.

    • Anonymous

It’s her confidence. She wears clothes, they don’t wear her.

      • Joseph Davidson

Agreed.  With her it’s not about the clothes, it’s about how she looks in the clothes.

    • Anonymous

Chung always looks like she’s wearing the exact same thing. When she first popped up on TV I thought she was very stylish but she wore it out fast.

  • Anonymous

Oh she looks so great! And for once the dress on the model looks like an old dishrag.

  • Though I’m not really a fan of that style of dress, she’s WERQing it as well as one possibly could. I think I have a new fashion idol.

  • Can anyone identify those boots please??  WANT!

  • Sara__B

Red carpet appearances must be such fun for her. I love this mid-to-late 60s look and she’s wearing it well, but it’s her oh-so-prim posing that takes it to another level. She’s certainly the one to watch on the red carpet right now. (I even enjoy her increasingly rare missteps, but I’m not sure you’re going to share them with us, T Lo.)

  • Anonymous

Oh TLO,she looks so cute.  I like her very much and I LOVE the boots.  That’s exactly what I want (but for wide calves and slightly chunkier heels for brick streets–I hate brick streets).

    • MilaXX

I’ve been seeing some really cute wide calf boots this season

      • Anonymous

Cool. I will keep my eyes open. I really want a nice, not too tragically expensive pair of sleek, black, heeled boots. It’s kind of like my white whale.

        • I’m a bargain shopper and DSW and Marshalls both had a huge selection of boots.  And I’m 5’9″ size 11 and I still had a lot to choose from.

          • Anonymous

Cool.  DSW doesn’t ever have my size in the store (they do online however).  I will have to check them out.  Thanks

  • Rand Ortega

You’d think she could give us SOMETHING to bitch about at least every once in a while. But NO!!!
She has to go & do this!

    • Sara__B

If you want to be able to bitch just a little, see if you can find her in an Alessandra Rich black gown with sheer panels at Elle’s recent Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute. She’s having a bad hair day, and the dress and her attitude both seem to be lacking a bit.

  • she’s who I wanna be if I was a girl

  • How do make such a ridiculous dress look fabulous and chic? ITS JUST NOT FAIR

  • This looks pretty shapeless and sloppy to me!  Her awkward schoolgirl pose isn’t helping the situation, and if it were styled a little bit more like the model-shot, it would’ve opened her up much more.  At least take off either the tights or the boots.  You can’t have both, girl!!

    • Tom Shea

      Why not? She looks great.

  • Anonymous

The tongue-in-cheek is so evident in the styling, I can’t even be mad at her for looking like something out of hentai.

  • Anonymous

Love love love. I see Julie Andrews, of all people.

  • I absolutely looooove that dress.  Boots and dark hose were a nice touch.

  • Anonymous

Love the entire look.  Because…parroting PR judges…I would totally wear that!

Agree with other posters–she outshines the model by a mile.

  • Anonymous

She got it all right here, didn’t she? Buttoned up and covered up without looking either twee or matronly. She managed to bring a little edge with the stiletto boots. She could maybe ditch the headband, but I like the teased up bit behind it, so I won’t quibble there.

    WERQ, indeed!

  • Susan Crawford

Flawless. Head to toe – flawless. I grovel at your feet, Empress of Style.

  • Anonymous

    Demure and adorable.

  • Anonymous

Cute as a button, and I really like the black tights and booties.

  • Love the boots with this look.  She looks awesome.

  • Tom Shea

I want to have so much of The Sex with her right now. Even though she probably isn’t waering those boots. I’d ask her to wear the The Sex Boots, though.

  • I’m so glad she got rid of the burlesque schtick.  She looked great in it, but it was just too much when it was all the time.  I like her mixing it up so much more.

  • Anonymous

    love the entire look.

  • Anonymous

Girls, I checked already. The dress is sold out.

  • Vaniljekjeks

  • oohsparkley!

Yeah, I hate Peter Pan collers, especially buttoned up to the top, but she werqing it.  She has her edgy attitude and those killah boots, which keep it from being too precious.

  • MilaXX

Love this look! WERQ that Twiggy-ness gurl!

  • I wonder who would win in a WERQ-ing it face off! Evan Rachel Wood or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley? My money is on Rosie. I love Evan but Rosie has this aura of “Fabulous Fucking Goddess” that I just can’t resist. It might be the 3 named thing. Three names, 3x the Fierceness! <3333

  • Anonymous

I keep seeing Wednesday Addams. Just needs braids.

“Jesus Christ on a Breadstick” You boys sure know how to coin a phrase.

    • Anonymous

Wednesday Addams was indeed WERQING a 60s mod look, but that is sheer coincidence as the cartoons on which the show was based were drawn long before the 60s.

  • I love that dress!! She looks so cute in it. I think those great, sexy boots add just what it needs to make it more of a grown-up look.  I really like her hair and makeup, too.

  • Anonymous

Reminds me of the mod Carnaby Street vibe, in a very good way.  And tights–love ’em.  Well played, sophisticated and ladylike.  Let’s bring back ladylike as a good thing, albeit not in a stuffy way.  I’ll even go for a few strands of pearls.

  • Anonymous

I feel quite proud of myself. I wear this outfit all the time. I don’t look like a fucking goddess, but I can pretend for a moment we are equals. Wooooot.

  • Anonymous

She looks great. And OMG, my sister had a dress JUST LIKE THAT in 1968.

  • J’ADORE!!!

    So f***ing lovely I can’t stand it.

  • Anonymous

Demure AND hot at the same time, while never giving up even a smidgen of chic. That’s why she’s a goddess and the rest of us are mere mortals.

  • Anonymous

Oh, what a saucy minx! Love it!

  • I love her! Is it just me or does she sort of look like Kelly Osbourne though? Just a smidge? (It’s probably the hair) Not that that’s a bad thing.

    • Anonymous

      That’s exactly what I thought!

  • Anonymous

Attitude is everything: she looks good, she KNOWS she looks good, and there’s the WERQ.  I don’t get “Rosemary’s Baby”, although that’s not a bad analogy.  I keep thinking schoolgirl….maybe from the old “Madeline” books? (the collar is different but I think the vibe is the same).  And yes, she looks much better than the model.  Buttoning that top button just NAILS the look.

  • Anonymous

I dig this, I really do, but I wonder why no earrings at all?  Not even little precious emerald studs or something?

She is really being wonderful for us, isn’t she?  Do I have to go see her movies, now?

  • Anonymous

    Ewww. I don’t like this.

  • Anonymous

I would wear all of this tomorrow.  To Court, To Shop, To Eat Lunch, ANYWHERE.  Want.

  • Anonymous

DAMN she is WERQing the hell out of this. I like how she’s got this cool 60’s vibe going on while veering away from the Land of Twee. Love.

  • Complete awesomeness.

  • Am I the only one getting skinny Adele from her? Anyone?

  • Anonymous

I know, right?!? Saw these pics elsewhere and thought, if that doesn’t get a WERQ from TLo, I’ll eat my hat.

  • Anonymous

Very few women could pull off such a Wednesday Addams dress, but DAYUM, GURL!  You WERQ that shit!

  • Judy_J

So cute!  So fashionable!  So currently retro!  She’s got it down.  I even love her cute little headband.

    • Lisa

I know!  I know I know I know!  Everything you just said – I’m speechless!

  • Anonymous

    sigh. I am le bored

  • I feel like Evan Rachel Wood has almost perfected the look Michelle Williams is always trying for, but rarely attains.

  • I just figured out who she reminds me of…Norma Shearer.

  • Adorable! I wish she hadn’t worn the dark hose with it though, it would have been cuter with nude hose. And I’m reminded of a “Designing Women” episode where Julia gets her head caught in the staircase of the Governor’s mansion, and the ladies have to change her dress there on the stairs. Suzanne’s first concern is Julia’s pantyhose: “I think these pantyhose are too dark for this dress!” To which Julie replies, “Oh, my goodness. Suzanne, do something. That could be embarrassing. I
mean, in 45 minutes when the finest people in Georgia are gathered here
before me, I wouldn’t want anyone to say, ‘Did you see that woman with
her head stuck in the staircase? Yes. That woman the Governor just
stepped over? Don’t you think her pantyhose are a little dark for her

  • I LOVE when a grown woman can make a headband work.  Or WERQ, in this case.

  • Earrings are tough when you’re wearing a headband.

  • GAH, it’s not replying to comments that I want to reply to, it’s just popping me at the end.

  • TLo, you’ve spent too much time on your knees to be complaining about your joints, and I don’t think it’s because you’re Catholic 😛

  • Anonymous

I’m starting to think that dating Marilyn Manson has some sort of magical powers.  I mean, Miss Dita was already FABULOUS before…but she’s like ultra-mega-fab since.  And Rose McGowan?  Well, she was hot-on-a-stick until (it seems) she started doing things to her face lately.  And now Miss Evan.

    Makes you wonder…

  • Reminds me of Peggy’s “up arrow” dress.

  • Anonymous

That’s an awesome headband.  I want one (in a different color since my hair is black).

  • oh my god, I love it. It’s a twee dress (but i love that kind of twee) but obviously she is werqing the shit out of it. Because she’s Evan Rachel Wood. I believe she knows she is fabulous

  • Anonymous

She’s totally cute. I like that dress, in general and in specific, but I don’t think this is one of her most exciting looks.

    • Alisa Rivera

I agree. I love most of her looks but this is very meh.

  • Bitch stole my look!
Seriously, that’s kind of my thing. The boots and the mini’s and the tights.
And she looks better than me. Of course. sigh…now wtf am I going to wear tomorrow?
You guys ask ERW about her skin care routine and I’ll see if my therapist can squeeze me in early-morning.
So much work to do. She’s IN by the way. duh.

  • Cheri Lee

When did she become so fab?!?!?

  • Ab-so-effing-loot perfection.

    FULL stop.

  • one of the best things about her is that she looks like the slightly wacky, funny, pretty-but-not-too-pretty girl who works for the project manager who shares an office w/ the project manager for whom you work.

but in better clothes, of course.

  • Claudia Fernandes

i don’t think the boots flatters her. Look cheap.

  • K

I have always liked ERW, but she has REALLY turned up the fabulous this past year. I’m so glad she got over that Goth faze, it was not a great look on her! Her true calling is couture diva!

  • Part of me is all WERQ! SO FABULOUS! but there is a little voice inside of me saying “Is she trying to be the slutty nun and/or pilgrim for Halloween this year?” And that little voice can not be ignored entirely, so I’ll give her an IN, but not a true WERQ

    • Although to be fair, that would be the most demure “slutty nun” Halloween costume EVER.

  • Anonymous

Theory 1: There are now two Twiggys, because Young Twiggy From the Past found herself a time machine and fast-forwarded to join us in 2011.
Theory 2: ERW has been studying a LOT of vintage fashion mags.

  • Serving up Mia Farrow realness. Fan*fucking*tastic.

  • Anonymous

    She’s fabulous! SNAPS!

  • Anonymous

She really gets both the glamorous and fun playful side of fashion.

  • It looks better on her than on the model!

  • Anonymous

God… I’m sounding just like my mother… but look at her posture…. she’s standing straight up, shoulders back and she looks flippin’ fabulous.  I wish every nitwit starlet would just look at how wonderful she looks… instead of that insane stomach thrusting, elbow on  hip pose they all do.

  • Hottie of the fall!

  • So glad she no longer looks like Marilyn Manson.

  • hahaha, you are all so funny.

  • Anonymous

I was thinking I’d hate it from the thumbnail but I’m kind of digging the hot pilgrim look she’s got going on!

  • At first I was all “eh” but when I saw the boots. Gurl.

  • Anonymous

    So ridiculously sexy.

  • Anonymous

WHAT is with the popeye look???? Ever notice all the wonk eye in Hollywood and pop music? My theory is that it is a sign for when they finally sell their soul…LOL!
    Love the Wednesday Adams dress!

  • Anonymous

why is it called a “Bunny Dress”??

Looooooooove those boots–keep the whole outfit from veering into LolitaLand.
