PR: Judging the Judges

Posted on October 07, 2011

All right, you judgmental bitches. LINE UP.

Tuxedo Jacket and Pants by ALC. Fenton-Fallon Jewelry.

It’s very sharp and photographs well. Not to mention, it’s flattering if you’re spending all your time on camera sitting down. Love that necklace she’s wearing and her hair looks really pretty. Honestly, we have no complaints whatsoever, which means… Score: 10/10.

Calvin Klein Collection

This is like the male version of Nina’s outfit. Although it looks a little awkward with the jacket buttoned while seated and the collar looks a bit rumpled. Score: 8.5/10.

Amanda Uprichard dress. Alexander McQueen belt. Christian Louboutin shoes. Wildlife by Heidi Klum jewelry

We can get behind the pattern mixing, but not when you add leopard print shoes to the mix. IN addition, the proportions don’t look all that flattering. The skirt’s too high on her and the belt is too big. Score: 7/10.

I was thunderstruck by her first dress… she looked lovely in that floral dress!

    • Sobaika Mirza

I liked the floral too! I’ve been wondering if you guys can include all of Heidi’s outfits into these posts. Pretty please?

      • Anonymous

Me too. Much preferred the floral. She’s doing a First Lady with the belt on the second one. (But I love my First Lady.)

  • http://visceralresponse.com Dina dV

Costa actually looks like the male version of Nina so it stands to reason that he’d dress like the male version of her, too.

    • Anonymous

He was a real firecracker eh?
      *yawn*

  • Geno Boggiatto

They all looked great. Minus the leopard shoes, I love Heidi’s outfit! If she’s going to do short and tiny outfits, it’s nice to see one that has some nice elements.

    • Anonymous

What is UP with the really contrasting shoes? I mean, we all blew a fuse with Clinique Counter put leopard shoes on his model last week with those hiddy white/black plaid pants, yet it’s totally fine when Heidi does it? Who decides these stupid things? If any normal walking-around person did that, people would make fun of them behind their back and they may end up on the back page of Glamour Magazine as a “don’t”

      • Geno Boggiatto

To the left! I don’t think I spoke an opinion on Josh’s leopard shoes, and I don’t like Heidi’s shoes in here, so I’m not sure why you’re directing the questions to me. I’m as confused as you are!

  • MilaXX

I like Nina’s look but it’s not a perfect 10. I give her maybe a 8.5/10 at most. However Heidi look like she was styled by Josh M. 6.5/10

  • Anonymous

To me, Nina did not look well put-together.  Looks like she stopped by after work.

    • Anonymous

Agreed. Her hair looked sort of…dirty…to me. Costa needs to shave his neck.

  • http://twitter.com/SetMeOnFYYYYAH Miss World

i wish i could see Nina’s shoes. she looks great!

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry, but Heidi’s outfit is tacky.

    • http://twitter.com/1carmelita 1carmelita

Don’t be sorry when you are speaking the truth!!

  • Anonymous

Disagree about Nina, I hate her jewelry. I thought Heidi looked better than usual, except for the shoes. But I tend to leave the shoes out of the equation for both Nina and Heidi, as they usually are laughable IMO. Speaking of which, what’s that clear plastic strap around Nina’s ankle. She wearing Jellies or something?

    • Anonymous

Nina bores the daylight out of me most of the time.

  • Anonymous

MK should at least get deductions for that awful insincere expression!

  • Anonymous

Nina looks…fine. That woman has not moved a strand of her hair in how long?

Sigh. She’s using up any remaining goodwill I felt towards her this season with some of the ridiculous things coming out of her mouth. She could come out wearing banana peels and it would make as much sense as some of her judging.

    • Anonymous

agrees. And I find her style dull

  • http://twitter.com/ShelfAfterlife Shelf Afterlife

I liked MK joke about himself loving orange.  He gets a 10/10 for that!

    • Anonymous

      I thought the same thing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Heidi stole that skirt from a schoolgirl

    • Anonymous

I thought the same thing: it belongs on a tween girl, not the mother of a tween girl.

  • Anonymous

I did like Heidi’s look, but I never noticed the shoes.  Last week Nina looked tired. She looks much better this week. Her look was okay. Not sure I’d give it a 10, b/c it’s a bit boring. White blazer, blank tank, black pants.

How great was the comment by MK that orange is his color?

    • Anonymous

I just about died when he said that – Oompa Loompa has got to be reading this blog…

      • Anonymous

his orange is legend. Not just here.

    • Anonymous

Oh yes, MK did admit to being “an orange” — loved it!

  • Jessica O’Connell

If it weren’t for Heidi’s shoes, I’d think she deserved a 9, because I actually think she and the outfit look great. But oh Heidi, why’d you have to do that with the shoes? Why?

  • Anonymous

Hubby and I both enjoyed Heidi’s floral dress!  The proportions were definitely off in the second one, and looked a bit department-store for television.  Plus, from a distance, the skirt read brownish instead of a clear black/white.

  • Anonymous

Is that a plastic ankle strap I see around Nina’s ankle?  Tsk tsk.  How gouche.

  • Anonymous

Can I just say that I love how Heidi’s belt is Alexander McQueen which means it costs more than my rent, but I could probably buy one that looks exactly like it at Kohls for $20?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Burke/100002384493067 Kimberly Burke

Did Heidi think she was showing Bitch-Face Barbie how to mix an animal print with a black and white print maybe?

    • Anonymous

It’s the chevron pattern she used last week!  Purposefully insulting?

      • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Someone mentioned it in the TLounge too, but I forgot to check it out. OMG! And, yes, I’m sure she did that on purpose.

  • Anonymous

Nina’s hair looks amazing.    Best it’s looked as far as I can remember.

  • Anonymous

Nina looked beautiful, although I don’t like her outfit that much, maybe it’s her hair.

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Nina looks great, very chic but in some ways almost too easy. Feels like a fall back outfit for some reason. Yet I can’t find anything wrong with it, except maybe to say it’s not really interesting or eye-catching or unique.

Heidi looks great in that dress – I think it’s simple but very well executed and very flattering on her, not too tight for once. Hate the shoes, though. No comment on the men. Wish Kors would mix it up at LEAST with some black texture for crying out loud…

  • Anonymous

On Heidi’s outfit, doesn’t that vaguely remind you of that 70′s trainwreck that Blenley sent out last week which was also a chevron top with a it’s too hideous and has been burned out of my memory banks skirt?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BEV2WB3MZRJHA4KD5DK4QY6FQQ Dinah

haha, actually it made me think of her comments to Josh about how adding in the leopard print belt with all the mixed patterns was just ‘too much’.  It makes me wonder if she’s taunting the designers sometimes.

    • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

      not really.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IHYMGRTD5NLIUAJRJTG5SKE7YI claudia

It does, but the scale of the prints is more disparate. Two contrasting prints on the same scale tends to be hard on the eye. Make one large and one small, and it tends not to clash as much.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1084733830 Kate Andrews

Did anyone else love that MK said he likes orange last night? That had to be one of the top 10 most-self-aware moments in PR history!

    • Anonymous

I think the judges read TLo on the sly.

  • Anonymous

I agree. Nina wins here. That jacket is awesome.
Heidi’s dress looks like it came from the junior’s department.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BC7QJMCQBTG5HNTKRGWOVOH4SY Kathryn

“Wildlife by Heidi Klum Jewelry”  What jewelry?

On edit: Oh wait, I see an earring sticking out.

  • Anonymous

Heidi’s dress looked like something that would get criticized on the runway.

  • Anonymous

I hate this dress so much. It looks much too short – like weirdly short.  It makes her legs look like tree trunks.  NO OUT BOO whatever else I can say to express disapproval…

  • Anonymous

When I saw Heidi on the runway I thought she was wearing a Jeffrey Sebelia :P

  • Anonymous

But as I said in the lounge, I was SO hoping Heidi in her chevron striped upper half would be auf-ing Laura the week after her hot chevron mess . . . sigh.

  • Anonymous

I thought Heidi’s Uprichard dress looked kind of cheap – like you could buy it at Wet Seal (are those stores still around?).

    • Anonymous

I thought exactly the same thing!  I was shocked when it came out.  It even has shades of Gretchen Jones to me.

  • Anonymous

For the second week don’t like Nina’s necklace (and the hairstyle really really needs a change IMO).

  • Jamie Saunders

Heidi is wearing a shirt with chevrons and leopard print shoes. Maybe she’s a super genius mean girl and is trying to taunt Laura and Josh with things they were specifically criticized for last week?

  • Anonymous

Heidi’s dress looks like it came straight from Anthony Ryan’s collection.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BEV2WB3MZRJHA4KD5DK4QY6FQQ Dinah

I think Nina is getting over-praised this week.  She looks fine, but it’s a pretty standard outfit.  There were other weeks I thought her style looked better.

I love Heidi’s outfit. Simply because I choose to believe Heidi selected this dress and the shoes to taunt Laura and Josh following her comments on their looks last week. As in, ‘See what I can do? Chevrons, leopard print, mixed patterns, dull colors.  It’s a tribute to everything of yours we hated last week. But I make it look good, see? Want to judge me? Oh! That’s right you can’t! Silly me! Let’s get back to designer torture, shall we?’.

Even it it’s just coincidental I’m sure Josh and Laura caught it.  So, it’s still win for me.

  • Anonymous

Heidi looks like she raided her daughter’s closet.  I do like the chevron and polka dot mix…it’s what Laura should have done.

Nina is looking more serious than usual…no mercy…heads are gonna roll!  She looks nice…but not wow.

The other guy…cute, but that shirt collar…eek.  He should know better.

Nina wins by default I guess…

  • Anonymous

Heidi’s dress looks so demure and un-Heidi-like.

  • Anonymous

All of the judges are in black and white, and Anya’s black dress won.  Do they script everything?

  • Anonymous

Heidi’s dress looks like mall clothes.  Kind of cute, but in a juniors department at Macy’s way.  Wish I could see Nina’s shoes.  She looks good, her hair looks beautiful, but the outfit is too basic to merit a 10.  Francisco Costa looks like he could be Nina’s brother.  He’s a little rumpled-looking when he’s sitting but overall he looks good.  Amazing smile.

  • Anonymous

I honestly think they are kind of blah… but I’m in that kind of mood. I need to find a shot of Heidi in the first dress, the one she wore when greeting the designers at the start of the episode. The floral intrigued me.

  • Anonymous

Can I just ask why Heidi (seems to) always stand with her legs apart looking slightly knocked kneed? I know it isn’t just me ‘cuz I’ve seen others comment on the knees. Is it Heidi, is it a model thing? What?

    • Anonymous

I always notice it too.  She seems to do this instead of the “I have to pee” pose that most of the others do.

  • Anonymous

    YES.

Though I might have given the guest judge a point more than did you guys. Perhaps over-influenced by the fact that I thought he has a very engaging range of facial expressions.

  • Anonymous

I like Heidi’s dress but not with those shoes, and the proportions are definitely wrong.  She looks like a leftover from the stiltwalker challenge.  I am beginning to wonder why she thinks she is qualified to judge fashion.  Nina, on the other hand, rocks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jenna-Ryan-Boatman/583622701 Jenna Ryan Boatman

In a runway inspired by (but not mean to be a literal interpretation of) birds, Nina shows up as Chilly Willy the penguin. Pfft.

  • Anonymous

    I want Nina’s eyebrows.

  • Anonymous

I’m not a fan of Nina’s necklace. It looks like a dog’s show lead.

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

Heidi was my fave this episode–9.5/10.  Everything looks great except the skirt needed another inch.

  • Anonymous

No 10 for Nina.  She needs to lose the SJP middle part and her colouring is too warm and golden for white…

  • Anonymous

Have you guys noticed that Heidi seems to be editing the short, tight and shiny lately? She’s limiting it to one characteristic at a time. This week she went for short — but its not tight or shiny. Last week she went with tight but it wasn’t short or shiny.

  • Anonymous

They all FAIL for giving the win to Anya!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Karen-Stephens-Bassett/1503492602 Karen Stephens Bassett

Nina REALLY needs something done with her hair…a good cut, some moisturizer…something!

  • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

i no longer care what they wear cos i no longer trust them. not one bit.
i will care about what they think again when they quit this show & tell all.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Yeah, I love Heidi’s dress but it doesn’t look like it’s Heidi’s. It looks like it belongs to Heidi’s much shorter sister. And the leopard shoes – for gods sake ladies not EVERYTHING goes with animal print.
Nina is perfect – per usual – and I say that with not one hint of jadedness. I can’t wait to see what she is wearing each week.

  • Anonymous

Heidi’s first dress was so much better. Nina looks fab.

  • Anonymous

Costa is Brasilian — from Guarini, RJ.  He’s a good, thoughtful, sober judge.  I was struck by how serious he looked when saying hello to the hamsters after being introduced by Heidi.  Made me feel for all of them — it must be so hard and brutal to undertake this thing and I’d love to know how much time they have to recover in between challenges.  Everybody looks okay here.  I’d be happy to see them in their PJs during judging if the show could get back to more time in the design room, working — and far longer attention paid by the camera to what comes down the runway.

  • Anonymous

I’m somewhat amazed that Heidi and Nina are able to look that good after crawling out of Anya’s asshole long enough to praise her over-rated “talent”.

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

      /snerk/

  • Anonymous

I don’t know how Nina can call anyone’s design boring when she’s wearing a nondescript black and white pants outfit. I can’t see anything fresh or modern or any of the other adjectives she uses in her look. It’s classic, but she never seems to like that when designers (and by that I mean Bert) do it.  It does look expensive though.

I actually gave Heidi the win this week. The proportions are off a bit for her, but the dress is a far more interesting look from a design aspect than Nina’s blazer and pants. And yes, I am a bit bitter about Bert (say that fast three times).

  • Julian Betkowski

I was expecting some crazy bird themed something from Heidi on the runway. I was sad to see her so sedate.

  • Anonymous

I liked Heidi’s first dress, the floral print.  Very nice.  This one, not so much.

  • Now I am The Bee

IDK about Heidi–chevron’s on the bodice paired with a print on the skirt and animal print shoes–didn’t someone almost get auf’d for that??!?  (heee!)

  • http://twitter.com/Ash2046 Ashley Wu

I thought Heidi looked nice, just didn’t dig the belt and the shoes. Why do people always say Nina’s hair is fabulous? It’s just long and tidy that’s all, I find it very boring most of the time.

  • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

In the first photo, Nina’s necklace looks like a zipper; as a result, she looks like she’s wearing a hoody.

I find it hard to evaluate Nina’s clothes because her close are so simple (I mean that in a good way) and she’s always sitting down when we see her. There has to be something spectacular and/or visible in order for me to form an opinion. Otherwise, it’s just hair and make-up, and maybe jewelry, if I notice it. Her hair looks fabulous this week.

Heidi’s dress is cute, but I agree the proportions are off just a bit. She looked better at the beginning of the show.

Costa looks handsome and relaxed. I couldn’t care less about the wrinkled collar.

  • Anonymous

Ok….so maybe I don’t know fashion, and I haven’t liked everything Heidi has worn, but…..it looks like I’m in the minority here, I thought she looked great and made a fabulous statement about mixing prints. Sooooo If that makes me a Heidi groupie  OK!!!!! She doesn’t always get it right but she’s REAL. She can still blow everyone out of the water with that body.

Agree….Nina’s understated elegance is always pleasing.

    • Anonymous

No shame in being a Heidi groupie (I’m sort of one). After all TLo are clearly Nina groupies.

  • Anonymous

Heidi: Cute and chic. The top and skirt go well together. Love the belt too, the shoes meh, but her hair is great. 9/10
Nina: Elegant suit yes, the pieces are so simple though she’s lucky she’s wearing them like that. Without the jacket its a snooze-fest. I like her hair slightly curled, but still she’s got the rampant flyaways problem. And I have a feeling had this been anyone other than Nina, TLo would not have been this generous. But it looks great as she has it. 9/10
Costa: Sharp, only thing I didn’t like was the length of the pants. As well as I could tell, they stop just above his ankles, the shots were so quick so I may be mistaken, plus he was sitting, so they may have ridden up, but I’m not a fan of pants that length. That was the only thing that distracted me with his outfit. 8/10

I loved the dress Heidi was wearing at the beginning of the episode.

heidi:  homage to laura kathleen with chevrons.

I’d like Francisco Costa’s clothes better on my bedroom floor.

    Just sayin’.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

Nina looks boring… She should have points deducted for dressing like a middle manager at a bank.

The dress Heidi wore in the beginning of the episode looked really interesting. Is there a screencap of that?

  • Anonymous

If it was Heidi’s dress for the challenge announcement – she would have won hands down… one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen her wear on the show.

  • Anonymous

I agree with the comments about Heidi’s dress for the challenge announcement – it was really pretty and much more interesting than the suits worn by Nina and whosisname up there.  In fact in general I think she tends to look better for the challenge announcements than for judging.  Wonder why?

My hospital smock had more style then any of Franny’s collections for the biggest closet case of all time.

  • margaret meyers

Heidi looks like she pulled something off the petite rack.

  • Anonymous

Excuse me, I’m sure Nina’s outfit is more than fine, but I couldn’t get past the *brass knuckles*??

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=600396217 Jamillah J. Echeverria Jordan

Heidi (and the rest of them) criticized Josh (whom I hate, so I can’t believe I’m typing this) in the previous challenge for the tablecloth pants and leopard shoes and belt, and then she wears this???
