Posted on October 19, 2011

Let’s look at some cute young people and judge their clothing. It’s life-affirming.

SHE: Is making all those people who said they were sick of seeing the Dolce & Gabbana lace dresses and the Dolce & Gabbana star-spangled dresses very happy. But be careful what you wish for, bitches, because a year from now you’re all going to be saying “If I see one more sheer floral D& G dress, I’m gonna scream!” Still, she looks cute and fresh here, no? We might have suggested cleaner makeup, but there’s certainly nothing wrong with slapping a little color on your face and highlighting your eyes. If you’re gonna do the messy ‘do, then this would be the way to go if you want to keep T Lo happy. Anything more polished would have taken this into Betty Draperville. We even like the ankle straps, but mainly because the strap is so delicate. Kind of wish there was a pop of color at her feet instead of the black, but we suppose there’s enough color in the dress. Love the earrings. Our only complaint is that the fit of the dress makes her look a little thick-waisted. The waist is hitting just a little high on her. Score: 9/10, for wearing something pretty, feminine, eye-catching and most importantly, NEW.

HE: Is adorable. The suit fits him very well, although the jacket seems a tiny bit long on him. Love the combination of a black suit, skinny black tie, and striped shirt. There’s a simple starkness to the look but it still has some visual interest. We covet the shoes. Score: 9/10, because we’re not entirely convinced the heavy-soled shoes work that well with such a tailored, slim suit. And also because the wisps of hair sticking up are kind of distracting.

Combined Score: 9/10. Well done, children.

  • He is adorable! But I’ve always had a soft-spot for Chekov. Don’t hate me, but I’d watch Star Trek just for him. I hope he ages well.

    • lilibetp

His hairline seems to be moving back bit by bit, but he’s still cute.

    • I have a soft spot for everyone in that movie. It moves me to fits of hyperbole that I’ll spare the TLo crowd.

      • Anonymous

        I have a spot for Sulu, but it’s not soft. / ba-dum-chi!

        • And Spock just came out! Now I can really dream of him being the next ex Mrs Figueroa.

    • Anonymous

Count me among the Trekkies. He’s adorable, she’s adorable, and I think they look great.

  • good god i want that dress. also, i love the way the makeup complements her coloring. he could stand to smile a little.

  • Anonymous

sweetness and i like their names … and i love that dress and i would have fallen in love with that guy a few decades ago … love that look in a dress and a good striped shirt goes a long way

  • kim i

i think his shoes look adorable with the suit — but only because he’s so young.  few older men could pull that off.  and the colors in the dress really work well to bring out her eyes.

  • He looks good fashionwise, but his expression is a bit too ‘deer in the headlights’.

    • Anonymous

He looks like me, when I was practicing my “pity me” look before freshman year in high school.

  • Sobaika Mirza

Fantastic pairing of the makeup and dress. He looks adorable.

  • Sara__B

I think my mom had that dress in the late 50s and early 60s. I liked it then and I like it now, but I’d prefer a shoe without ankle straps with such a long skirt. Cleaner makeup, too.  8.5/10 for Jones. He looks good in his suit, but he’s trying sooooo hard to appear cute? earnest? deep? above it all? that I have to subtract points for annoying hair and facial non-expressions. 7.5/10 for Yelchin.

  • I love the two of them and she’s adorable in that dress. I’m surprised though that you gave Anton such a high score though, but nonetheless, they look fabulous.

  • He looks like a very young Elijah Wood. Or  . . . Elijah Wood.

    • He sure does. They could be brothers. And thank you, because I couldn’t pull Wood’s name from my memory bank.

    • Anonymous

He looks like a young Andrew Lincoln (who will always be Egg to me)

    • Anonymous

Yes or even kind of like Dougie Houser (Neil Patrick Harris).

  • Sam

Really? I hate this dress, the muted colors look one step away from camouflage.

    • Anonymous

The very first thing that went through my mind too.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I seriously dislike this dress. And I don’t think it’s flattering on her. Am I just a big meanie today?

  • I like his shoes with that suit–I think he should have the rare 10.  She looks great, too.  I agree with her 9.

  • Anonymous

I’ve adored him since ‘Hearts in Atlantis’—and I’m so happy his talent has been recognized and he continues to get quality roles.  He’s just adorable…I want to put him in my pocket.

I don’t know her (big surprise), but the dress is adorable and suits her well.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I remember him having a really intense part in an episode of Criminal Minds a couple of years ago and I sat there thinking ‘This kid will be going places!’ He was impressive. (And a great choice for Chekov.)

  • Vaniljekjeks

That dress is stunning!  I literally gasped.  I love the color combination.  The only dress I own that isn’t black, is black and green 🙂

  • Anonymous

I normally can’t stand that hem length, but she’s actually wearing it well.

    He’ll do.

  • MilaXX

Gosh I think they looks good, but in an ordinary way. I think 9’s are a bit high, I’d give them both 8’s at the most.

  • Anonymous

    Barely tangential:
Anton Yelchin looks just like high school pictures of my dad. Eerie — yet oddly comforting, since I miss my dad. (And yes, Daddy was muy guapo, right till the day he died.)

  • Mariah J

Love the dress, she could have kept the sheerness up top though

    • Anonymous

See, I totally disagree. The sheerness of the runway version is distracting. It’s already kind of a busy (but beautiful) print, so to throw in another element, like whatever you’ve got on underneath showing, is too much.

  • She looks fat with that dress and doesn´t fit it at all, and her make up is too much, she looks like a clown (5/10). I love Anton with that suit, he looks so elegant and cute (9/10).

    • fat? seriously?

    • Anonymous

I agree, she looks horrendous, bad choice with that dress and especially with the makeup.

  • “I want to put him in my pocket.”

Ha! He *is* adorable and I love her dress.

  • Anonymous

What a naturally lovely and photogenic girl she is! Have thought so ever since the remake of Northanger Abbey. And I LOVE that dress!

    • Anonymous

My “like” is for the remake of Northanger Abbey, which I like better than the dress.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know if it’s the way she’s standing, the angle of the shots, or the dress, but she looks shapeless.

  • Anonymous

I’d have taken a point off him for looking so miserable at having to be there.

  • LOVE. She looks fab. Love that dress. The only VERY minor quibble I have is that I don’t know if I like those earrings with the dress.

  • Anonymous

They look like either they hate one another or they both used the same sandpaper-covered toilet seat.

  • Sorry, I must disagree on her shoes. Coupled with the length of the dress, the straps make her lovely legs look stumpy. But the dress itself (despite fit issues) is beautiful and refreshing.

    • Agree, the shoes are all too dark and heavy. What’s wrong with strappy satin shoes? Maybe a brushed metal color or something.

  • What an amazing dress. I agree it’s a bit high-waisted for her; I also think it’s a tad too long. She’d have done well with cleaner eye make-up for sure, but she’s young and very pretty and, holy cats, she doesn’t look like a hooker. So many extra points for that alone.

He’s really cute. His hair is cracking me up, but he’s nicely pulled together. The striped shirt really does make the suit more special. I don’t know if he dressed himself or had help, but good job either way.

  • Love him!  He looks great here too.  I also like her dress a lot.

  • Anonymous

You’re right about the fit of the dress on her, but still, she looks so pretty. Love the hair, makeup and earrings.

He looks a little uncomfortable, but still very cute. He probably should have shaved that shit on his chin and combed his hair, but that’s my only complaint. Love the shoes.

  • Anonymous

I do think they score high here…my only teeny tiny complaint is his shirt looks too big, kind of wrinkly or lumpy.  The collar looks perfect, but did someone forget to press the rest of the shirt?

  • irielle

The colors in her dress are really bringing out the color of her beautiful eyes.

  • Anonymous

My boyfriend’s hair looks like this after sex, but I normally make him comb it before leaving the house.

  • Anonymous

I love the dress, but think it’s a touch too long.

  • Anonymous

Anton looks so handsome and adorable, i love his suit. I can´t say the same with her, i hate her dress and the makeup either

  • Anonymous

I give them a 9/10   I really like his striped shirt and her dress is a bit of fresh air.

He does look a bit stunned to be there (lol)

  • Kim

They both look good, but he needs to work on his expression for the camera…

  • Anonymous

    An eggplant dress? Really?

  • Anonymous

That dress begs for more whimsical styling choices! A bright shoe, is that too much to ask?

  • Anonymous

I dont know, her shoes are a bit Minnie Mouse and I kind of need a belt to break that dress (have I watched too much Mad Men?).

He’s… wrinkled? askew? doesn’t to it for me. I’m probably biased because of my disgust of that semi-scruff

  • I LOVE THAT DRESS. i love Anton Yelchin. Real, real jealous of that girl right now

  • I’m showing my age here, but I am so happy to see dress lengths again that don’t make me wonder if how often a starlet flashes “the good china” to all and sundry without meaning too. Or wondering “that dress is so short, how does she picks things up”?

Pretty dress, pretty lady and cute guy. I have absolutely no idea who they are.

…sorry. I’ll try to calm down.

  • I kind of hate the dress. I liket he model’s version though. But Felicity’s version looks like Camo Barbie.

She is totally Zooey Deschanelling here, but it’s still adorable. He is always cute. Wictor wictor!

  • Jessica O’Connell

They both look great and you’re right, he is adorable 🙂

  • Anonymous

I love the length of the dress–it looks way better on her than on the model!

  • Anonymous

The model looks great with the dress, but she looks totally unfortunate with it, she has no waist.. BTW her make-up and hair TERRIBLE.

  • I love Felicity Jones! If you haven’t already seen it, may I highly recommend the Masterpiece Theater adaptation of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey that she starred in a few years ago? She’s adorable in it! Oh, and Carey Mulligan co-stars….

I think they both look fab here and I’m looking forward to their movie!

  • Anonymous

I won’t argue your scores, though I think the ankle straps were questionable.

Mostly, I can’t help but imagine what lovely fine-boned children these two would breed, which, since I have NO reason for going there (except maybe the Rachel Zoe baby-baby thing) is a testament to their dewy-skinned youth and the power of Mother Nature.

  • Anonymous

Thick-waisted?  Ugh.  What a ridiculous statement.

  • Anonymous

i agree that the waiste line is too high for her, but the whole package in general is beautiful!
however, i really think these dresses are meant to stay on the runway… they wont ever look as good with a slip underneath in my opinion.
but even so, if this was an “in or out” post for her, id give her an in! 🙂

  • Anonymous

Such precious embryos! Look in a dictionary under “ingenue” and this picture of Felicity should be there. What a breath of fresh air!

  • Is he incapable of smiling?

  • Anonymous

Not digging the dress but she looks pretty from the neck up. I’ll be nice and give her 6/10
He looks good, if not happy. From what I can see of the shoes I like them. 8/10

  • Anonymous

I covet that dress. So pretty, wearable, good for various body types–hopefully someone knocks it off!

  • Anonymous

She looks like a camouflage fairy. He looks wrinkled and in his big brothers clothes. 7s at best from me.

  • I don’t like Felicity’s dress. It’s like sad hotel wallpaper to me. He looks good, but his hair is really weird. Maybe it’s just the morphine- I’m writing this on my laptop in the hospital. Does this get me bitter kitten brownie points?

  • Anonymous

I like this dress on her, but I LOVED this dress when it was on the runway with Rosemary Clooney singing Mambo Italiano in the background.

  • Anonymous

They both look sad and messy.

  • Wrenaria

They both look gorgeous and I love her makeup so :p. I agree with the shoe assessment though.

  • Anonymous

A belt on her would have been great!
