Pairs Division: Clooney and Plus-One

Posted on October 18, 2011

George unveiled his latest and she’s a former lady wrestler! That doesn’t make him look gay at ALL.

George Clooney and Girl du Jour Stacy Keibler attend the premiere of “The Descendants”  in New York City. Stacy Kleiber wears a Versace dress paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and Stephen Webster jewelry.

Versace Resort 2011 CollectionVersace Resort 2011 Collection/Model: Ginta Lapina

SHE: Better have kept the receipts, since she’s got to know she’s only been hired for a limited run. It’s a pretty head-turning dress, which would be great if she was attending an event on her own or with a man who dresses equally as showy, but standing next to George in all his  Cary Grantness tends to make the showiness stand out even more. Hair and makeup are pretty, but that clutch looks like any cheap knockoff. Score: 6/10, for the bad bag and the fact that it’s way just too “Sugar Daddy bought me this.”

HE: Is George Clooney. What else is there to say? He’s not the most exciting dresser in the world, but he knows what works for him and gives it to the public when he needs to. It’s a great suit, but with the white shirt and blue tie it looks a bit “financial advisor.” Also, the hem on the pants as well as the length of the jacket are just a skosh too long on him. Score: 9/10. A point off for slight tailoring issues and for being a little dull.

Combined Score: 7.5/10. Buy your Girl of the Moment a classier dress next time, George.

Clooney should have gotten a 7.5 or 8 – there’s nothing really wrong with it, but it’s simply not head-turning.

There’s something about such a dress on someone so tall and bodacious (for lack of a better word). Makes everything look a bit tacky.

    • Anonymous

Yes, on the model it doesn’t look as trampy or amazony (sp.?–I realize that ‘amazony’ is not a word).  I would knock him down a bit more to a 7 because his plus one is making him look a bit desperate. He does not need to be (or even look it).

      • iCouture

Well, I use amazony as if its a word!!  And this is an instance when I would use it.  Stacy is taller, has some muscle on her, boobies, is a little wide, and just has a little bit bigger features.  And, next to petite frail George, she looks even more so!   Age affects as all, and it appears things are catching up on Georgie a bit, though he still is very handsome….

        • It’s also an “I can’t wear underwear with this” dress.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, it says “expensive suit,” not “red carpet.”

    • Anonymous

Agree – her body type is too wide for that dress.  I’m not saying she’s overweight by any stretch of the imagination but she’s too broad in the shoulders and hips for that dress.  It looks better on the model.

  • Anonymous

Stacy Kiebler! I remember her from Celebrity Death Match on MTV!

    • Anonymous

I only knew her from Dancing with the Stars (Season 2, 3rd place).

      • And I only knew her from her spread in Maxim. *hides head in shame*

        • Anonymous

Oh Cindi, you’re just more well-rounded than the rest of us – you don’t just watch t.v., you *read*!

          (snort, chuckle)

          • Anonymous

And I’ve never heard of her at all. I must live in a cave.

          • She also had a cameo in How I Met Your Mother, season 5, as the hot bartender.

  • Anonymous

This flavor of the month is not a big girl.  But she’s a former wrestler.  She’s muscled.  Plus she has boobs.  This dress is not for her.  On the model, it barely shows the skin, so it’s somewhat more demure.  On Stacy, her larger frame pulls at the dress and shows too much skin, so it veers a little off Sexy Lane to Slut Corner.  I agree about the bag.

I agree about the hem.  George should strip that suit off right now this minute.

  • Anonymous

The neckline, the slit, the cut outs…it’s all a little vulgar.  Still, she’s hot so I suppose a 6 is appropriate.

George is looking a little haggard for 52, no?  I’m going to prescribe some hemorrhoid cream for the eyes and ban him from tanning.  That golden skin comes at a high cost in the long run.

  • Anonymous

Wrong dress for her. She doesn’t have huge shoulders, but they are too broad for this style of dress. It looks like the dress is straining to cover her boobs, which in turn makes the dress look cheap.

Georgie boy is starting to look his age. Not a criticism, but I guess I haven’t really looked at picture of him in a while. Or maybe it is just that his dates are staying the same age, but he isn’t, so he starts look more and more like a sugar daddy as the years go on.

    • Anonymous

That was my thought, that it’s just a tad too small for her, which makes it look tacky. It’s not inherently a tacky dress. And I also noted that George is starting to age, sadly noted, but still noted.

      • He’s not aging badly, though. He has a timelessness to him that I think will serve him well. Plus, he’s a man. He’s allowed to age. [insert nasty glare at the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries here]

        • Anonymous

Add my nasty glare to your nasty glare.

But the thing about Clooney–and what makes the Cary Grant analogy work so well–is his insane charm. When he’s really old and really grey and somewhat wrinkled, he is still going to be irresistible.

        • Anonymous

I remember George’s dad, Nick, when he was on TV in Cincinnati–he aged wonderfully, very gray distinguished, dontcha know.  Expect George will, as well.

    • Anonymous

Bingo, I thought the same thing about the dress.

Must admit, I’ve only ever been indifferent about Clooney, and unfortunately for him, dressed as “eh” as he is, he looks like one of my uncles, which clearly isn’t conducive to sex appeal.

  • As if the dress isn’t bad enough, that neckline is driving me batty.  Though not classy, at least she has the body for it.  Good choice for flavor of the month George.

  • Anonymous

I’m crazy about George Clooney, but I’m so disappointed. They don’t look good as a couple. It’s not that I have anything against Stacy Kiebler, but I have always loved the fact that Clooney obviously prefers brunettes. So blah. Also, when she wears heels, she’s taller than him. Not a good match. OUT OUT OUT
Her dress is fine, I guess. She has the body for it. I just don’t like the way that front looks against her broad shoulders. Not the most flattering look for her.

    • Anonymous

when I saw the “OutOutOut” my first thought was-first Zachary Quinto, now George? Busy week.

      • Anonymous

I should NOT have read that whilst sipping hot coffee.

  • Anonymous

Damn! I think she is lovely and her body is…there is no other word for it…slammin’. Since when do beautifully muscled, curvy women have to be demure and tasteful?

    • Sobaika Mirza

Since they’re on the red carpet and standing next to someone with as simple a look as Clooney? I really like her (ever since Dancing with the Stars!) but it’s a bit too overt. She would look just as striking in a simple sheath a la Calvin Klein.

      • Anonymous

Calvin Klein. That would have done it. Or one of Armani’s beautifully tailored pieces.

But you know, I’m not looking at her–I’m looking at him and making that sound that Homer Simpson makes when he sees a donut. You know the one–where his eyes close halfway and he drools?  That sound.

Just saw “Ides of March.” It’s fantastic. Everyone in it does a great job. And of course, there are posters of Clooney on every wall.

  • I don’t know, I guess I am feeling generous today, because I like her in that dress. True, it amplifies the impression that she is twice his size–as if they were standing in some trick-perspective space. But I like the Amazon-y quality, the showiness of the dress on her. She is not going to look demure or even merely chic no matter what you put her in.

  • Cathy S

I don’t like that dress at all. It’s tacky. He’s a boring dresser but he’s so gorgeous it’s hard to care.

  • Anonymous

Very Xena of her.  He looks strangely diminished.  I agree that Versace generally looks better on those who aren’t already so vavavavoom  — the line is generally vulgar enough to leave little to the imagination.  She’s all glittery and alive and he looks exhauted.

  • Anonymous

The dress says “I am a kept woman” but the woman seems more “I am a KICKASS woman”. Two flavors that don’t work together.

    I can’t take him seriously. I haven’t for years.

  • Anonymous

oh yes, on this girl the dress look effortful, you know what I mean?  Of course, I’m not a Versace fan anyway.

  • Slut-candy. Blech.

Also, T-Lo, please cover this atrocity: Jennifer Aniston wore this to Empower Women.

    • Anonymous

That’s pretty bad.  She looks pregnant.  That would be nice for her.

  • George Clooney does indeed = Cary Grant.  I’m not even paying attention to his arm candy.  Not worth it.

  • That  dress makes her shoulders appear massive and has her looking very drag queen.

    • That’s it exactly!! I hate that reverse-racerback look that keeps popping up lately — hated it on Katie Holmes at the Oscars, and it looks even worse on her.  Racerbacks, front or back, just make your shoulders look broad.  It only looks good on the model because she’s so narrow.

  • “…George in all his Rock Hudsonness….”

    There. Fixed it for ya.

    • No, I think Cary Grant works on that level, too.

But I had the good fortune of meeting him once, and he exceeded my expectations because it was at an industry screening for “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” (I tagged along with a friend) and he is just the most charming person in real life.  He actually engaged me to thank me for coming to his movie. And I got the Clooney head tilt and grin which is totally disarming when it’s directed at you.

So since I’ll never date him regardless his orientation I say whatever.  He’s a movie star cut in the old mold and I love him for it.  And all the good work he’s dedicated himself to in these last few years.

      • Anonymous

        I hate you.

Please forgive me.  I can’t help it. I am dying of envy. DYING!

    • Anonymous

Cary Grant lived with Randolph Scott. Totally a couple. So Cary Grantness is dead-on.

  • Rand Ortega

She’s so… D list. What’s w/ the slumming, GC? Ran out of willing candidates who accept the short shelf life?
The dress is nice enough, it’s the model I find lacking.
He looks like the US Ambassador going to a UN ceremony.

    • Anonymous

“Ran out of willing candidates who accept the short shelf life?”

      Surely you jest.

    • He seems to like D-list.

      • Sobaika Mirza

He does, doesn’t he? I like Stacy Kiebler though. At any rate, she’s better than the one from Italy with all the 90s tattoos.

  • Addicted2Glamour

She looks very AVN Awards “Lifetime Achievement Award Winner 2011” in this gown. Contents of knock-off clutch – condoms, lube, Viagra.  MEOW.  😛

  • Stefanos Mantyla

I think the dress looks just a little tacky because of her proportions. And this is such a strange pair. They do not look like they go together. And I agree, next to Clooney, the dress sticks out more, and not quite in the right way.

  • Anne Slovin

It never occurred to me to compare George Clooney to Cary Grant, but that’s exactly it.

  • Anonymous

Am I that out of it? I never have heard inklings that George might be or is gay, Is that something that there are rumours of?

    • Doug Orlyk

Forever, hon.  Many of the gays insist upon it, but I don’t really care either way.  He’s never been my type.  I find him a bit bland and a tad egocentric.  And I don’t get why he’s always nominated for Oscars for roles that don’t seem terribly demanding.  But I digress…

His look is not red-carpet worthy.  And she just reads as slutty to me.

      • Anonymous

hmmm, like I said, clueless on that one, thanks for the reply, I agree, I’ve never really gotten the whole hottest guy on the planet thing either, he’s good looking, but there are alot of hotter hollywood guys I think.

    • Anonymous

Oh well…. at least I’m not the only one who never heard those rumors either…..

  • Anonymous

She looks like she’s in a bathing suit with a wraparound coverup for a skirt.

    • margaret meyers

It is from a resort wear line.

  • Anonymous

I think she’s pretty and that she has a great body, but I agree that this dress maybe wasn’t the best choice for her. I’ve never been a Clooney fan, so I’ll go ahead and say it.  The fact that he’s going around with a lady 18 years his junior is a little creepy to me.

  • Anonymous

To quote the Duchess, “Slutty slutty slutty!”

    I’ll let you decide which.

  • Anonymous

It is a little “Hey, look, my girlfriend doesn’t wear any underwear!”

  • Anonymous

I KNEW I wasn’t the only one who thinks George Clooney is gay.  I wish he’d come out!

  • Anonymous

Well at least we know she’s not looking to get married anytime soon.

  • Anonymous

So that makes two women with Dancing with the Stars + George Clooney connections. Which really doesn’t speak well of him, does it? Oh well. Cary Grant was 61 when he married Dyan Cannon, who was 28 or something, and 54 when he married Betsy Drake, who was 26. So does that make Stacy Kiebler his Betsy Drake or his Dyan Cannon? Probably neither, since he doesn’t marry them and doesn’t keep them as long as Cary kept his. Well, Clooney did marry Talia Balsom and stayed married for a few years. And Cary’s forst wife only lasted a year. After that, Clooney’s chicks come and go more quickly than Cary’s wives, I think.

  • Sara__B

Aren’t Versace dresses famous for bordering on tacky, except when they’re full-out tacky? Even so, I liked Stacy Keibler’s dancing and personality so much on Dancing with the Stars that’s I’m okay with this dress, and I’m sorry she’s this award-season’s Clooney arm candy. (The only career boost the last arm candy got was appearing on Dancing with the Stars, and Stacy’s already done that!)

  • What are you talking about? Does ‘lady wrestler’ scream ‘demure’ to you in any way? She looks fierce and showy, which is exactly how a lady wrestler should look!

  • Anonymous

He can come over and be my financial advisor any time he likes. She looks like she’s been literally purchased for the evening.

  • Anonymous

I’d give her a 6.5 out of 10 because I can’t fault someone who isn’t rich & whose claim to fame (at least, as far as I know) is dating Clooney for carrying a knockoff purse. Or even for uninspired accessorizing. The height of the slit in that dress pushes it squarely over the line between questionable and tacky.

So, his 9/10 stands. 7.75 between them.

  • Anonymous

Even if SK was one of those “pixie fairy-dust” chicks, she’d still look kind of tarty in that dress standing next to George. In fact, so long as she’s with George, she might want to bypass the Versace store altogether.  Donna Karan loves to highlight strong shoulders – maybe something from her?  And, she might also want to invest in a few better looking (not necessarily more expensive) handbags.

  • Anonymous

That man can wear a suit. He’s always a 10 to me 🙂

  • Anonymous

Bad, bad, bad, choice of dress for ms. Keibler! It is not flattering on her at all, this type of dressing didn;t work in the end for Elizabeth. Class it up a bit, he knows what’s underneath the dress we don’t need to!!!

  • I KNOW I shouldn’t be petty and I don’t usually want to pick apart the physical attributes of any woman (at least out loud), but I just have to say it because it bugs me every time I see her.  I watched her on Dancing with the Stars, and she has about the most amazing glamazon body you can imagine, but she has this little pin head to go on top of it. You can’t tell it so much in these pictures, but she is just off to me somehow.  And this dress looks slutty on anyone who’s not a waif. She always did seem to have a really great personality, though.

  • Anonymous

    She looks like fun

  • Anonymous

Ew. I think she is so tacky.

  • I like the dress.  Definitely on the showy, sexy side, but dinging her 4 points for being sexy and having a crappy bag is unjustified.  She’s upstaging George Clooney, and how is that a bad thing?

  • You know how when you’re involved in mean-spirited gossip, even if it’s fun and relatively harmless you still feel a little guilty about it? That’s how this post made me feel, somehow. What I love about TLo, and have for years, is that it’s biting and witty but always makes me feel like I’m laughing with a person, not at them. This entry just feels more…judgy, I guess, than usual. And not just of the appearance and clothes, which is what I’m here for, but of the person.

    Am I crazy?

    • Anonymous

No, you are not crazy.  I feel exactly the same way.  The gossip about George Clooney has been around forever but always pretty quiet.  Now we are all making fun of him for being gay.  I don’t know why this would be something to make fun of him for.  I also think that if he is gay he should have the right to come out or not, as he chooses, when he chooses.

  • MilaXX

Heh, I remember her on Dancing with the Stars, She seems nice enough. Hope she gets a career boast from her Clooney time.

  • Terence Ng

I am suddenly aware of George Clooney’s aging…

  • Anonymous

He always looks SO classy, and this dress next to him, I totally agree, makes her look a little cheap.  Also a bit too much like a token trophy.

And is it just me, or does he have that look of standing next to someone he just met?  They don’t look chummy at all.

(BTW, every time my hubby sees him now, he does the Stewie Griffin gymnastics-voice “Totally…NOT gay.”)

  • She’s totally gorgeous and, while I agree the dress makes her look like an amazon, I must say “what’s wrong with that?” She is an amazon. Nothing and no one is going to make that dress elegant. It looks like it came from the Victoria’s Secret catalog.

George gets a 10/10 because he’s George and I love him. Also, he has nothing to prove to anyone.

  • That dress is truly awful, and unflattering on her.

Is there a rumor that he’s gay? I hadn’t heard.

    • Anonymous

I don’t think he’s gay, but I think there are people in this world who wish he was. Hell, I’m straight and I wouldn’t refuse him if asked.

  • I hate the neckline on that dress.  It looks backward.  But I love Stacy, and while the look is a bit over the top, I think that’s a little bit part of her persona.
I guess George just isn’t my type.  I have never found him attractive, and next to Stacy’s robust amazon bod, he looks downright frumpy.

    • Alisa Rivera

I’ve never liked him. He always comes off as smarmy and smug to me, and the cheap women he favors doesn’t help. Meh.

  • She definitely makes that Versace look like a Ver-sase. I can see underboob.

  • :sigh: I lust for George Clooney, but I wish he’d date someone closer to his age. He looks like her dad.
But separately, they both probably look hot. But it seems to me like the only chemistry they have is more filial than sexual. Meh.

  • Kate Pearce

I don’t think she needs George to buy her anything. She’s established her own persona and I appreciate that. 🙂

  • Wow this is a tough room!  She looks like a stone cold FOX.  I agree with the slammin’ body comment.  Okay the bag looks pretty common but she truly looks like an amazon — in a good way.  Standing next to Clooney in sexless daytime businessman attire shouldn’t decrease a look that would be smoking hot on its own.

  • On anyone else a George Clooney 7 would be a 10.

  • Could George BE more Cary Grant-ish in that next-to-last pic?  Sigh-luv him!  Better to see wrinkles than plastic surgery/botox-has anyone seen what Steve Martin has done to his face?  Sad.

    • Anonymous

Steve Martin?  Ack! [running in high heels to Goggle it]

  • Anonymous

Stacy’s lovely shoulders are too wide for the high halter–she’s got the linebacker thing going on.

I’d take off a point or two off George for the shiny blue tie.

  • Anonymous

in their second outing together she picked a little classier look, but it’s unfortunate you can see her boobie tape…. oy…

    • Anonymous

hee hee! sadly, he seems way more interested in himself….

  • margaret meyers

Yikes, I think she looks pretty hot… which clearly was the point.

  • Anonymous

She is the person that dress was made for, and that is why Clooney bought it for her, but that bag is a disaster (I doubt that he cares).  He just wants a young hardbody on his arm.

  • Anonymous

I have thought he is gay for the last 4 or 5 years, and everyone mocks me, but I stand by it. He uses these women so he keeps his adoring female fans. Poor George. Living a lie. 🙁

    • Mary McClelland

I think he is a “confirmed bachelor” my uncle is like that and he’s not gay, he’s just into a spontaneous, unencumbered life. He dates these hotties, travels all over, and then he moves on. He has a lot of money and is pretty low-maintenance and has no interest in giving it up. I think some people – men and women – are just like that. I mean Warren Beatty didn’t marry until he was in his 50s and now he’s happy.

      • grouchywif

Clooney has been married. Late 80’s/early 90’s to John Slattery’s current wife. Talia Balsam (who plays Slattery’s character’s estranged wife, Mona, on Mad Men). After his marriage he declared that he would never marry again. Guess he decided that marriage doesn’t suit him. He tends to date gorgeous models, sometimes for long periods of time, and really, who can blame him?

  • He would look better with me. It’s true. He would. I swear.

  • Anonymous

These girls are so dumb. Listen sweetie he is gonna drop you one day for a younger model dont make the same mistakes the other hos did, you need to get knocked up double quick so that you can make sure there is always gonna be a check in the mail.

    • Anonymous

Wow.  That’s a lot of retrograde assumptions about women’s motivations in one place.

  • theres no chance, is there, that she’s making up her whole background & is, instead & in fact, almost old enough to be her own mother & from los angeles? cos if thats true, i knew her years ago & she’s gay.

  • Judy_J

Something about that girl’s build takes that dress from Versace to Frederick’s of Hollywood.  He looks great as always, but a bit too thin, I think.

    • Mary McClelland

Yeah I agree. She has a va-va-voom figure, but that dress is not meant for a va-va-voom figure because it makes it look cheap.

      • Mary McClelland

BUT I do think she is very pretty, it’s just not her dress.

  • Anonymous

aahhh, I know I am biased because he is my hollywood husband, but I think they are cute! I hope they have a good run….also, if I was younger, I would happily rock that dress, especially if CG was my sugar daddy….

  • Anonymous

I actually really like that dress on her.  I also am very happy about the fact that she has some muscle on her and isn’t just another Hollywood twig.

  • Anonymous

awwww… that’s the look I expect from a Bawlmuhr guhrl who done so good.  (as a merlander, I am allowed this jibe without screwing my good karma, right?)

  • Sara J Baxter

Heh, she went to my high school. My all girl… catholic… high school. Awesome.

the same one gina schock when to ?

  • You know, why don’t they cast a woman who looks like this when they have heroines waving swords about in movies?  Girls with stick thin arms and legs look so weak and un-athletic as to be ridiculous.  This lady looks like she could turn old George into a pretzel.
