Lady Gaga in NYC

Posted on October 10, 2011

We’ve said this before about Steffi, but it bears repeating:

Lady Gaga in NYC
Lady Gaga in NYC
Lady Gaga in NYC
Lady Gaga in NYC
The girl definitely knows how to take a theme and run with it. In fact, we propose that she take it to the next step and start dressing her handlers in clothes that match hers. There’s no sign of Hot Ginger Handler in these pics, but we’re all atwitter at the thought of him wearing a matching fuchsia-colored tight polo shirt with “HOT GINGER HANDLER” written on the back like one of Catwoman’s henchmen in the old Batman TV series.

As for Steffi, clearly she woke up that morning and said “Henchmen, I’m thinking shades of fuchsia and wine, with lots of pattern mixing. Let’s make that happen, shall we?” And then she tossed back her head and laughed lustily as they all scrambled to find pieces that met her requirements. But Gaga, dear, we’re afraid we can’t fully embrace this one because you missed the mark slightly. That blue lipstick just doesn’t quite match the blue in your Little Edie-style hijab and the shoes don’t quite match your skirt. Of course, we’d normally be complaining that you’re so matched up at all, but we understand your need to be theatrical and support it wholeheartedly even though it goes against our own dearly held beliefs. It’s what makes us so charming.

That lipstick looks like she painted it on with a blue malted milk egg on Easter Sunday.

Oh, so judging by these pictures, Lady Gaga got cast in the next Mortal Kombat movie.

I think it’s very clear from these pictures that she’s not in hair & makeup so she had to throw something on in the car so she could walk out in front of the cameras. For her, this does the job.

I love the idea that Gaga carries around an emergency stash of crazy scarves, hats, and lipstick just in case she’s ever almost caught on camera without a crazy scarf, hat, or lipstick.

Well, now I know what to wear on my next bad hair day.

I now have this image of her rummaging through her Tickle Trunk looking for the bestest craziest scarves, hats, and lipsticks.

I agree!  This outfit feels like it was thrown together at the last minute but its still Gaga and I love it!

I’m just grateful that for once, we don’t have to look at her tits.

    Yawn.

Love it, all of it. Interesting pattern on the top.

why does she hold her hands out in front of her as if they are newly attached and she’s not really sure what to do with them?

Obviously “Hot Ginger Handler” has been hauled off somewhere to be flogged for not finding exact matches to her color scheme. Quick, to the TLO car to rescue him!

  • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

she is beginning to look like solange knowles, less the innocent charm.
i have no idea why you like her so much.
unless it’s cos theres nothing much else to like.
i can sort of get behind that. but everything she does is so so passé & even more borrowed that i cant do it.

Right? A friend recently posted this video of Todd Rundgren from the 70s on her facebook status and I said this is is why people our age don’t get the hype about Lady Gaga.

      • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

it’s weird, i think the twenty year olds now are having a wonderful time & it must be at least kind of fun for them– what drives me nuts, just bats, is that their whole culture is taken from the culture thirty & forty years ago as if if were somehow encased in ice to be deposited upon the everlovin youth o’ today.

having been a rottenly precocious child in the 70s, i sincerely remember what was then called “the nostalgia craze” but people immersed w/in that both easily acknowledged & altered, wildly, the cultures of the 20s 30s 40s 50s. the stuff now is just as if then were frozen in aspic & transported to the present w/ its guts ‘n’ gravitas removed.

        • Anonymous

See I’m just glad to have a bit of glitter and glam back, even if it is more cynical than in the past. The 90s and most of the 00′s was dull as ditchwater as far as music meeting fashion. Rock stars and pop stars that looked like they’d just stumbled in from a football match or from doing the shopping. Some showmanship was sorely missed.

        • Anonymous

Yes, I’m glad there’s crazy out there for the young people, just a little sad that there’s been such a dearth of craziness for so long that an entire generation of crazy seems to have been lost.

      • Anonymous

Thank you maggiemaggie for posting that fabulous clip. Gaga’s over-produced and over-processed, where Rundgren’s crazy is comfortable and organic.
Having just seen the clip, apart from fashion, I think he’s also got her beat as a pianist and singer.

  • Anonymous

Its funny how she is so covered up, demure, and ladylike from the waist up (except for the lipstick by Paas) but one good gust of wind and we will all see her gaga!

    • Anonymous

      Paas. hahahaha!

  • http://ldvfashionfix.com/ La:Dolce:Vita Fashion Fix

She doesn’t looks so bad in that last photo from the side. Could have gone without the blue lipstick and that ugly scarf.. The shoes are hot!

  • Sobaika Mirza

Props for using the term ‘hijab’ correctly!

  • Anonymous

I’m surprised that lipstick comes in that particular color!  I shouldn’t be, I suppose, but I am.  Bet it’s not a big seller.

    • MilaXX

not gonna lie, I have 2 blue lipsticks and a blue lipgloss

    • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

you used to be able to make lipstick out of eyeshadow.
by 1981 i had already worn blue lipstick to death. & i am not alone. just ask whoever gives her her ideas.

      • Sobaika Mirza

Her ideas come from Boy George, that is all.

        • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

And it may not be lipstick.  It could be body paint or something.

  • Anonymous

I actually don’t mind the shoes, but I hate the lipstick. I wish she’d just gone with the same shade of pink she’s wearing so much of and called it a day.

  • Anonymous

    I love her shoes!

  • Anonymous

Yet she still looks far better put together than 95% of the crap we’re seeing on Project Runway this season.

    How sad is that?

    • Anonymous

Right? Why don’t they do a Gaga challenge, or did they when I wasn’t looking? At least it’d be entertaining, which PR has not been this season.

  • Terence Ng

    Good for her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

I am so over Lady Gaga. Morph into something else.

  • Anonymous

I actually really like this, other than the lipstick!  Of course, I love black/white/grey and hot pink together.  I do wish the shoes matched a little more, but I can forgive them even, because purple is my favorite.  I really like the shape of the shoes (and she wears a lot that I don’t care for)…even solid black might have worked here.

Oh, and if she tires of that scarf, she can feel free to send it to me. :)

  • Anonymous

This is a million times better than that mustard suit of shame.  I think she looks fab.

  • Anonymous

Little Edie Hijab.  I must have one.

  • Anonymous

I like your fantastical idea of Lady Gaga, but that’s all I like about her. That blue lipstick has got to go.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=27432316 Ally Monge

I am dying over thinking about her sitting in bed and yelling “henchmen fetch me things.” Too funny TLo. I am disappointed in Gaga tho, without the hat it might pass for normal. Le sigh.

  • Anonymous

I like her outfit a lot. That fabric print is hilarious.  But I wish she had worn black tights. I think the shoes would match better if they weren’t attached to bare pale skin.  I even like the blue lipstick, although it looks like homemade cupcake frosting tinted with food coloring.

    • Anonymous

      sigh.  cupcake frosting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=643312238 Marti Phillips

I don’t thing Miss Gaga has Henchmen. That’s too crass for her. She has Minions.

  • Anonymous

Bored by her music but love this style! That print on her top is pretty rockin’

    • Anonymous

      which one?

      • Anonymous

The one with the pink faces! So cool!

  • Anonymous

Did she really need The Good Earth hat on top of a Little Edie-style hijab?

    • M N

To any question about Gaga which starts with “Did she really need…”, the answer is “YES.”

  • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

I would have killed to have that blue lipstick in 8th grade.

  • Anonymous

This getup is awful – loved the London pics from last week though.

  • Anonymous

    Love the gloves.

  • MilaXX

Skillfully applied I don’t mind a blue lippie, but this one doesn’t quite work with the outfit. The outfit itself is a bit too ice skater like and the shoes are simply off. I don’t mind Gaga’s outfits, but this one just doesn’t gel for me,

  • Sara__B

Her legs look fabulous! Gaga often dresses in unflattering clothes, but with the exception of the Kool-Aid lips, she actually looks good in her costume de jour.

  • Anonymous

Is the lipstick supposed to match up with her recent mint theme?

  • http://twitter.com/susanpcollier Susan Collier

How embarrassing! I wore this same outfit today.

  • Anonymous

I am fully on board with all of it….except the blue lips. Cannot support blue lips.

    PS: Love the hat.

      Samesies.

        Ditts.

They do get points for finding 4 different fabrics in the same color to make a dress to match her hijab.

  • Linde Hoff

She looks terrible.  I’m all for making a statement and being an individual, but she’s just being tacky here.

  • Anonymous

    SO OVER HER.

  • http://twitter.com/Kaptain_Killjoy Nimith

Good help is hard to find. I’m sure the henchmen did their best.

  • BerlinerNYC

She’d pair so well with Debbie Harry in Blondie’s postapocalyptic “Atomic” video, where she’s wearing sunglasses, a garbage-bag coat, and yellow lipstick!

but debbie harry was gorgeous, brilliant, funny, extremely talented, stylish, witty, original & came out of an orphanage. is.

  • http://twitter.com/qrter Alexander Peterhans

“And then she tossed back her head and laughed lustily”

No, can’t see that. The most we get to see is a very faint smile. She doesn’t do actual emoting.

  • narita_rayna

i dont mind all the patterns & shades.  what bothers me is how top-heavy the whole look is.  it makes her look broad-shouldered, like a drag queen.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I don’t know you guys, I think the shoes are intentional. I believe that the ‘same color family, different tone’ idea may have some legs. And not just Lady Gaga’s. I am not talking about the lipstick here – that’s too far afield for me to comment on – I’m just talking about the shoes and I really think that this ‘variations on a color’ concept might catch on. We’ve swatted down nude shoes, most plain black pumps and anything matchy-matchy or  dyed-to-match. We need a new idea. Maybe this will be a trend. It is in interior design. Why not fashion?

    • http://profiles.google.com/mmara00 M M

I posted immediately after reading (see two posts above), but I see already that I am not totally alone in my opinion.

  • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

Bringin’ the Little Edie BACK!  Thank you Lady Gaga!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/mmara00 M M

I like/love that she didn’t get more matchy-matchy with the lipstick and shoe shades. Particularly the blue, which picks up on the highlights of the light purplish leaf patters. I think it makes it more surreal.

Also, I am convinced she might be consulting an interior designer for all her print and color combinations.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Right on M M – I’m with ya’ about the interior design color combos and the intentional surrealism. If one can be intentional about being surreal. Which if anyone can, it would be Gaga.

  • http://profiles.google.com/mmara00 M M

P.s. I suspect ‘Hot Ginger Handler’ was garnering his own fanclub, which she may have felt was stealing her limelight.

  • Anonymous

I saw the original post pic and thought “DAMN, that is one big ass pipe she’s smoking!”

    WERQ!!!

  • Julie Woodson

The “Little Edie-style hijab” (LOL) makes her look like she has osteoporosis

It’s getting boring. Actually, it’s been boring for awhile.

and I wish I could “Like” this 100 times too!

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=lf UltimaEsperenza

Although I adore her, isn’t she looking a smidge older than 25?  More pushing 30 in these shots.  She *really* needs a break.

  • Anonymous

It sounds as if everyone is kinda bored with what Steffi wears, so I think the focus should just shift to her handlers all together. And although the HOT GINGER HANDLER is not in this photo, the fella opening the door for Gaga is not too shabby!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Aside from the aqua lips, I think she looks quite nice, as far as it goes with Miss Gaga.  I’m glad she’s toning it down a little in some cases.

  • Anonymous

hahaha, I wish she’d start dressing up her handlers! I actually like this look much better than any of the looks in the other recent Gaga post.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Even if they matched, the shoes would still be ugly.

  • Anonymous

The lipstick is really pukey, but for Gaga this is a great look.  There is not one piece here that I think is attractive, but she wears it with conviction.

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry, but this outfit has crossed the line from performance art to just plain fug.  OUT.

  • Anonymous

What’s up with the cuffed jeans on the long haired guy in stripey shirt?

  • Anonymous

T Lo–you’re charming, no doubt, but this lady needs to give it a rest.  Go ahead and sing your itty bitty heart out, but quit playing Halloween dress-up all the time.  It’s tiresome.

    • Addicted2Glamour

Thank you. Someone finally is the voice of reason. She’s getting VERY tiresome.

  • Anonymous

I think this might be a thrown together to get from A to B casual little number :)
I’ve seen her in a couple of interviews lately where it’s pretty clear she doesn’t take herself all that seriously. She was on with Graham Norton a while back and then with Jonathan Ross just last week when she was in London. On both she was quite happy to take the piss out of them and to a degree out of herself. She’s just very dead pan and dry with it though. I’m not keen on her music, too pop for me although the Tony Bennett duet sounds pretty good, but as a performer she’s a relief from bland R&B stars and X-Factor finalists!

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Agreed.  The shoes and the lipstick are what kill this outfit.  Otherwise, I like.

  • sweetlilvoice

I’m sure Gaga would love to be an old school villianess on the Batman show….she understands camp. I love those shoes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=27432316 Ally Monge

    LOL… maybe peons? Underlings?

  • Judy_J

The blue lips make me suspect she’s been smooching Mr. Freeze from the old Batman series.

  • Anonymous

I like the look. It’s nuts, but still shows off her cute bod and great legs.
I kind of love that lipstick. *runs and hides*

  • Anonymous

    Hideous eyesore.  *over her*

    • Anonymous

I wish I could “Like” this 100 times.

  • yuju ti

This reminds me the tea leaf picking ladies in Taiwan and China. They rock the “scarf and wide brim hat” combo way better than Lady Gaga!

  • Anonymous

I want to see it without the triangle hat that looks like it’s made of denim.  Kind of love the print on top with the heads–very funny.  The lipstick reminds me of long, long ago when I was in Jr. High and snuck white lipstick out of the house and put it on at school–as thickly caked on as possible. If she wiped it off the whole look would be better, but I like it otherwise (agree about the bad shoe color).

  • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

I think it’s all based on a bad hair day

  • http://rachbomb.livejournal.com Rachael J.

I love her no matter what! Loving those shoes and I hate those platforms!

  • Lisa

See, I love it from the shoulders down.  From the shoulders up, it’s very, “VELMA!!  I’M HERE FOR MAH JONG!!”

  • Anonymous

The pressure this poor girl must be under to live up to her reputation to shock.  I think Nicki Minaj has the same issue.  I get tired just looking at the two of them struggling to raise the bar of outrageousness.  Small wonder she created an alter ego who dresses like the Fonz.  Even Lady Gaga needs a break from eight inch heels once in a while.

  • http://twitter.com/marco5ny Marco Saavedra

I need more clarity as to who is “hot ginger handler.”  I keep reading about him in the posts but I need more direction.  At least post link to a clearer or original reference.

Yeah, I wanna to see him too.
