We once asked a fashion insider what they thought of Jason Wu’s aesthetic. They responded with the kind of sound bite we wished we’d thought up ourselves: “It’s very ‘lady,'” meaning, it has an old school, ladylike quality to it. Thing is, that’s not always something the average modern gal can pull off effectively. We rag on a lot of gals for poor accessorizing, but we think Jaime King hit exactly the right note here.

And that’s kind of ironic, since she accessorized with another Jason Wu piece. The dress? Totally lady. It’s crisp and feminine and very pretty. Loyal minions know that we have a thing about grown women wearing bows as well as the over-reliance on neutral shades for the red carpet, but this dress hits all the right notes, just so. But if she’d worn, say, a traditional pair of pumps, this could have gone Betty Draper very quickly. These slightly edgier shoes really help to make the look. Minions also know that we tend to sniff when people wear the runway look head to toe, but she looks so good here we can’t work up the disapproval. Just an all-around super-pretty look.
