Hailee Steinfeld in Miu Miu

Posted on October 10, 2011

Oh, MISS HAILEE. No, sweetie.

Hailee Steinfeld at Miu Miu Spring 2012 Show

There are those who say we’re nasty bitches for ragging on a 15-year-old’s fashion choices, but to them we say, “Your point?” Besides, she’s a 15-year-old in a very expensive dress that was lent to her by the designer whose fashion show she’s attending in Paris and which is also not coincidentally the designer for which she signed a no-doubt lucrative contract to model their wares. Any comparisons to you at your sophomore dance are simply not valid in our nasty, bitch eyes. She’s still the cutest little thing you ever did see, but we’re sorry; this dress is kind of ugly. And when it’s not ugly, it turns twee. Even a 15-year-old can’t rock a bow that big. And the faux bustier front is clumsy-looking. And then there’s the Silly Putty shoes. Plus the fact that it doesn’t seem to fit her that well. She’s adorable and sweet and all those complimentary things you’re supposed to say about pretty 15-year-olds when you’re ragging on their dress, but we simply can’t support this look in any way. But hey, the purse is really cute.

Go ahead. Tell us how horrible we are.

  • I don’t think you’re horrible.  I do think you’re wrong.  I think she looks cute, and I like the wrapped bustier in the front.  I do agree that the bow should have been scaled WAY down.

    • Anonymous

My thoughts exactly! You aren’t horrible guys, just wrong, lol! I agree the bow should be smaller, but other than that she looks adorable.

      • Anonymous

        • Agreed!

          • Anonymous

I agree too! She looks adorable but, yeah, the bow could use some scaling down. You were right about the bag, TLo. That is a very cute bag in a great color!

    • I think it’s a cute dress in theory, but the execution, especially that cheap-looking and stiff fabric ruins it.  If the bustier were better fitted and the ivory part was in a floatier fabric, maybe a floral print, but definitely something that doesn’t look like hospital issue bed sheets, the dress might have been really adorable, especially on Hailee, but it isn’t. And that bow made me literally laugh out loud.

I can understand why she wanted to wear it, but someone should have noticed how cheap it looked and gone with something else.

  • Anonymous

TLo don’t feel bad.  She is not the one to blame.  Miu Miu is the one to blame.   What a silly dress for such a cute, smart, talented girl.

    • Anonymous

Yes, Miu Miu is to blame.  Giant bows are fine for toddlers, but even that’s pushing it.

  • She is adorable. But that bow is scary and if she or her stylist (I hope she has one) doesn’t know better, the designer certainly should have. Also the material seems to wrinkle really easily.  I am ever so happy you didn’t rag on the cute purse. I was ready to leap in and defend that from the first picture. Oh, btw, my prom dress when I was fifteen was way cuter than this.

  • I think she looks super cute.

  • Judy_J

She’s cute but that dress is just awful.  Looks like it was designed by my 5 year old granddaughter.  That big-ass bow looks like it was made out of crepe paper.

  • Anonymous

I think this dress is really cute, except that it looks like it’s made out of bedsheets, which kind of ruins the look.  So whenever PR has their next bedsheet challenge and MK or Nina calls a look “runway-ready” or something, picture this and know they’re lying.

  • perfect hailee is perfect. the bow is classic miu miu and playfully age appropriate. i love the color on her. also, i love that she doesn’t take herself to seriously.

  • I was okay with it until the bow.  Sorry.  She is a very sweet looking girl.  Rose of youth and all.

  • Hailee still looks adorable as a box of kittens even though the dress is way fug.

  • She looks great and I love her bag. I like the big bow. I think the bow would look better if the bodice on the dress was longer though. I do hate the shoes. Overall, a big IN. And yes I know this is not an In or Out. But I want to say IN and you can’t stop me so there. Nyah.

  • Disagree. I think the dress is cute on her. Yea the fabric is a little weird and she could have worn better shoes, but overall I give it a 7/10.

  • I was absolutely fine with this and wondered what was wrong with you two as I was scrolling down through the pictures, until…… OH SWEET FANCY MOSES THAT’S THE MOST HEINOUS BOW I’VE EVER SEEN!!!!

    • Molly OBM

My thoughts exactly! It made me recoil in horror.

      • It did!  I flew back in my chair (apparently to get as far from the screen and that picture as possible) and made a noise somewhere between “Gah!” and the verbal equivalent of a shudder.

        • Molly OBM

Mine noise was more of a hiss, crossed with a wince. Most distressing!

        • Anonymous

Mine was a very loud, disbelieving, gasp-y “NO!” Complete with pearl clutching, except I’m not wearing pearls.

          • Anonymous

I also clutched my imaginary pearls. I always love the way she dresses, so this was an alarming sight.

    • Anonymous

Me too.  I was scrolling down thinking “what don’t they like … her hair and make up are good, dress is cute and not too old for her, they probably don’t like the silly putty shoes…”  Then I got to the bow and totally get the “no sweetie”.  That bow is clown proportions.  She is still adorable.

    • MilaXX

If this was a movie that bow would turn into wings and Hailee would fly away.

      • Actually, that might improve it.  Especially if she flew right out of those shoes.  She’d look like an adorable little pixie in flight.  🙂

    • I did a Jujubee “Oh NO SIR” when I saw the bow.  Otherwise she’s supercute.

  • Anonymous

I think this dress is a hot mess – for some reason it reminds me of that really bad collection Lohan collaborated on with the house of Ungaro a couple years ago.

  • Rand Ortega

The dress is costumey & a parody of cute. It’s drag queen fashion in the vein of intentional bad taste.

  • Anonymous

Call me old fashioned (or at least make me one), but I don’t think a girl of 15 should wear a dress that in any way says “look at my knockers.”  Demure is best.

  • Anonymous

I have one nice thing to say about that dress — the zipper is not exposed. She is adorable; the dress is not.

  • Anonymous

The bow, the shoes and the bodice color are all wrong, but a few tweaks would make this dress really cute. My 15 y/o would wear it IF it were black with an electric blue bodice and the shoes were hot pink (that’s what she said).

  • Anonymous

    You’re terrible, Muriel.

  • Aw, I think it is so cute! But then, I do like bows. THe color combo is great and I like the faux sweetheart neckline. Plus, she looks way cuter than I did at my sophomore year high school dance 😉

  • Not crazy about this on her.  But then I don’t think I’d be crazy about this on anyone.  I really kinda hate it.

  • She’s adorable but I agree, the dress is fugly.  Cute purse though!

    • That’s true.  The purse is way cute.

    • Anonymous

That dress isn’t just “kind of” ugly. It is thoroughly ugly.  And it seems like she’s been aged ten years in the last ten months.  I hope the Hollywood machine doesn’t grind her up and spit her out.

  • The bow is unfortunate but she looks super cute otherwise.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know who she is but I don’t think she will be setting the fashion world on fire anytime soon.  Maybe when she is 18.

  • irielle

I think it’s okay because you were ragging on the dress & shoes as opposed to her personally. BTW: I really think her hair looks cute and chic like this. I like the little lock of hair which has escaped from the bun.

  • Anonymous

looks like she threw on her tube top after leaving the house in her school uniform so mom doesnt know, poor kid.  however it is age appropriate and not skanky like many teenage girls her age and younger lean towards…. so kudos for that!

  • Anonymous

I’m more offended by the hair… if she had done something cute with it, I think she could have made it work. Okay, maybe not the bow. Not ever the bow. But the rest of it!

  • Anonymous

The look on her face in the first two photos shows even she thinks it’s a bit too twee.

The big-ass bow (or big ass-bow), the too-high waist, the too-full skirt.  Love her, hate this.

  • Anonymous

I think she looks adorable!  “IN”

  • Anonymous

they dressed her in it.  i think she had to wear it.  i like her in this if i just imagine her in a japanese anime cartoon.  i say ‘in’ but it’s a small ‘in.’
Edited to add: i also like the little blue purse. at least it’s not orange or tan, right?

  • Anonymous

Fifteen is certainly old enough; there’s no mercy as far as I’m concerned. The color combination works together very well, but the dress is invisible besides the big sash/bow. It might have looked okay if it was another color besides a cream and if it the reddish pink was picked up somewhere in the hem or collar. It’s like the only thing she is wearing is a giant ribbon around her chest and a purse. Her makeup looks nice & fresh though.

  • Elizabeth Winer

Putting her in that dress is child abuse.

  • I like the dress. What I hate here is her HAIR.

  • When I first saw the bow, it reminded me of some sort of cosplay anime/lolita costume – not high fashion. Other than it’s size, I think it’s really cute and age appropriate.

  • Anonymous

Okay, you’re horrible. But you’re also right.

  • Geno Boggiatto

The proportions on the dress are weird. I love a high waist, but for some reason the high waist just isn’t cutting it for me.

  • It seems a little too short to me and might be better in a different fabric. I’m definitely not loving it.

    • Anonymous

I think it may look too short because she’s wearing the wrong shoes — too-high-heeled pumps (in nude yet!). It’s really a pretty modest length, not cootchy — and if a 15-year-old can’t wear short, who can? She’s long-legged and high waisted as well, which makes the dress appear shorter. It’s a nice silhouette for her, but I really don’t like the fabric or color thing either.

  • Anonymous

That dress is hiddy and so is her hair. She is adorable despite it though. She is a little doll.

  • Anonymous

Coral and turquoise color combo = Yes
General adorableness of Haille = Yes
Everything else pictured here = No
T Lo too bitchy = Never

  • I’d probably be less adverse to the dress if it were properly steamed/ironed.

  • Anonymous

Nope. You are absolutely correct. I think she is adorable but that is one butt ugly Miu Miu.

  • Anonymous

Nude pumps!  Why!!?  WHY!!!!???!!  That dress begs for dainty pair of Mary Jane pumps.

  • the only bad part in my opinion is in fact the bow, which is unfortunate. But i think she looks ridiculously adorable beyond that.

  • Anonymous

That dress hits me in all the wrong places. Her, too, by the look of it.

  • the only way that dress can be worn is ironically & she is just too young to do it.

  • I didn’t like it either, but she has some killer legs, and this does show that off, so ultimately, I give her an IN anyway.  And I do think a 15 year old can rock a huge ass bow.

  • Totally ugly dress.

  • Anonymous

Say what you will about the dress, the shoes, the bag, the bow…the bottom line is, she looks adorable. Period.

  • I don’t think that dress would look good on anyone,  esp those colors

  • Anonymous

She may be 15 but she’s in show biz…so fair game to criticize her look, ’cause that’s what she’s selling here. Awful dress. Awful shoes and her hair looks greasy.

  • Jessica Goldstein

I blame the designer for making this ugly dress. Then the stylist for putting it on Hailee–rumply, ill fitting and all—and matching it with silly putty shoes. I leave Hailee herself out of it; she’s the victim. Thus, you can say all you want with impunity.

    • Completely agree.  Shame on whoever put her in this dress– surely some employee of Miu Miu who was thinking “If an adorable 15 year old can’t wear this dress, no one can!” Of course, the answer is that no one can.

  • Kevin King

Not to mention she’s wearing Ma Ingalls’ hair…

  • I actually love that dress, but I think the red part on the front looks heavy with how it’s placed, as though it’s dragging her boobs towards her waist.

  • First impression: I don’t totally hate it. I think “Alice in Wonderland” when I see it, especially with that Alice blue purse, and that seems fun for a moment. But the longer I consider the bodice, the bow and the shoes, the more I do a WTF head tilt at the screen. I think you got it right, TLo.

  • Anonymous

How does one say this delicately?… If she were a little more blossomed up top the dress would probably fit and look much better. Faux bustier on no “bustier” doesn’t work. Bad hair and shoes…. cute girl and purse.

  • Anonymous

You guys are horrible.  No, just kidding!  I think the thing that kills the dress for me is the color combo.  It’s so PLAIN with all that white, and that red/pink/wtf is kind of nauseating.  In different colors–maybe a print somewhere, too–and fitting a little better, this would be really cute.

  • Does anyone at Miu Miu own an iron?

  • If a 15 year old can’t rock a bow that big though, who CAN?

  • That bustier is so amateurish, and the boy is bridesmaids-tastic.  Bleargh.

  • I hate the shoes (obviously) but I love the dress and the purse. I particularly love that someone actually paired the purse and the dress, the colors work together very nicely but it’s not a typical combination.

  • It’s a very silly dress but I think she is rocking it.

  • MilaXX

That looks like the dress a 10 year junior bridesmaid would wear. The silly putty shoes and the weird shade of blue bag bring nothing but more fug to the party.

  • Kyle Crawford

    15 – 49 the dress sucks….

  • Lisa

Oh well, she’s 15.  She’s entitled to screw it up once in a great while.  Even the most steady choo-choo train comes off the track sometimes.

  • Anonymous

Dress doesn’t look like it’s made that well. It could have come off of this season’s PR.

She, on the other hand, is too cute for words. And deserving of much better fashion!

  • Joanna Schuth

I love her SFM, but I hate that beige with the fire of a thousand suns. She doesn’t know better, but the designers do, and shame on them.

  • I actually love this dress and her in it, just hate the shoes and purse with it. Looks great, but bad accessories. I think the dress colors are great, the faux bustier is cute (and kind of playfully ironic on a 15-yr-old), and I am kind of digging that the fabric wrinkled. Perhaps it is just me.

  • Anonymous

That dress is utterly indefensible.  On anyone, at any event.  UGH.

  • Elena

It’s not that I’m mad at you for criticizing a teenager, I just don’t think she looks that bad.

  • Ben

My first impression: why the hell is the dress so wrinkled? It looks like it’s made off cheap curtain.

  • She’s going to keep smiling. It doesn’t matter how ugly the dress is as long as you’re getting paid well.

  • Anonymous

She looks saggy, like she’s slouching, and she isn’t. Not a good addition, that splash of wrinkly color.

  • Sara__B

Don’t forget the sister-wife hair and the eyeliner, which are somehow combining to make her look even chubbier-cheeked and younger than she already is. Add the humongous bow (so twee), the bustier and heels (too aging), and it’s a very confusing stew of mixed messages. She  is indeed a cutie, and this dress is not worthy. (Great bag, though.)

  • The silhouette is really cute on her, and she tends to favor the high neckline/wide straps/full skirt look because it works well on her. And I like the *idea* of the bustier and the oversized bow, but the bodice needed to be fitted better, and the bow is WAY too big. Also, if she was going to go for match shoes she should’ve done something only a young starlet could do and  gone with the orange color. She’s too young and fun to wear such bland colors all the time. The bag, however, is a step in the right direction.

  • I like it, but I think she looks wrinkled and unfitted.
I’m really into large bows and that kind of cut though. I think it’s perfect for Paris.

  • Anonymous

You are not horrible, you are right.

  • Anonymous

She is just the cutest thing ever. I can understand why Miu Miu wanted her but they sure don’t know what to do with her, do they (which isn’t exactly inspiring confidence in what their brand can do for anyone else).

  • Even little fashionista’s in training can make mistakes.  But this is more her handlers’ mistake, not hers.

She’s 15, and sometimes 15 yr olds can’t decide if they should look “twee” or “hooker in training” (what with the orange bustier).

    But her make-up’s good.

Since she’s made maybe one other slight stumble, I’d cut her a little slack here.

  • Mary McClelland

No, it’s really horrible. The colors are awkward, it’s made in the style of toddler dresses, but it the weird bustier thing just doesn’t work. It’s wrinkled and ill-fitting as if she decided to wear it last minute and it came straight out of the dress bag. Or it could just be taffeta which is pretty much always a wrinkled mess. The hair is 1885 school marm. And the shoes don’t go on any level. The wrong color, the wrong style, the wrong everything! Poor thing – it’s not her fault.

  • Anonymous

That dress ain’t no kind of cute.

  • Anonymous

She’s cute.  The dress is not.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think you’re horrible, but I do disagree. She looks adorable.

I’d like to see a bright and/or colorblocked shoe, and she has a foundation mismatch going on, but otherwise this is super cute. The bag makes it.

  • Anonymous

hate the shoes, they somehow “age” the outfit…and its all wrinkly, someone should have tugged here and there to straighten out the pleats…she looks 8 in this outfit in her moms heels

  • Anonymous

I don’t mind the dress – I can’t take the hair.  Is her agent putting her up for the part of Sybill’s mom in a remake with teenagers?

  • Anonymous

if the skirt were the color of the dress it would be adorb

  • It’s not you, it’s us.  Hair adorbs, makeup perfect, idea of the dress is okay, but there is something just not right (it’s screaming IRON ME).  She’s still the sweetest, cutest, but you know, mistakes are how we grow as people, so power to her!

  • I hate the dress too. Even if it didn’t look like stiff and wrinkly, I hate that weird trend I’ve seen popping up of fake color-blocked busts. Not flattering, ever!

  • Anonymous

you’re not horrible, you’re just wrong!  she looks adorable in an ironic alice in wonderland way.  ok, perhaps the designer lost his/her money because he/she put it in his/her boobs and only had 11 dollars to spend at mood and had to use the muslin to finish.  and the shoes are just showing sympathy for the muslin portion of the dress.  she looks sweet and perky and curiouser and curiouser.  feed your head,  like the doormouse said.

  • Anonymous

Oh T and LO, I am one of those “nasty bitches” who think you should just leave the 15 yr old alone. In particular I don’t like the idea of giving her and IN or an OUT. At her age, even with all her success, kids are just cruel. Perhaps because of her success, even more so.

Now if she were 22 and walked out in that I’d feel differently. But the little kitten is practically an unborn fawn. (yes of course she is both at once!)

That being said, in completely contradictory manner I am for some reason comfortable with, I like your critique. Perhaps because you were so gentle and uncle-like.

But just remember that her envious enemies eat your critiques and post evil things on their facebook pages that hurt tender 15yr olds no matter how famous. That’s all, princes-of-all-things-fabulous! Be kind to the little young ones in your kingdom.

    • You need to re-read the post. The only people we called “nasty bitches” were ourselves. And we will continue to not subscribe to any thinking that compares her life with that of the average 15 year old. If she has evil and envious “enemies” ready to tear her down, a post criticizing her dress is hardly going to provide the fodder they need.

      • Anonymous

        Gotcha Tlo!
I should clarify. I’m not saying her life is the same as any average 15 yr old, but that she feels the same as any 15 yr old. Hard time of life emotionally.
That being said, I thought your critique was well made. It’s more the idea of everyone commenting on how a 15 yr old girl LOOKS that I don’t care for. Hard at any age, possibly crushing to a 15 yr old. Not everyone is as articulate, balanced and uncle-like as you.

  • She is adorable. The dress is hiddy.
And so is her hair. And so are the shoes. And so is the Miu Miu stylist who did such horrible things to such an adorable girl.  Where is her mother? Because she should have prevented this.

  • Her dress is the color of fermenting oatmeal, so I don’t find it all that appealing.  I’m very curious if she has any say in what she wears.  Anyways, she’s 15, not 5, who thought that bow would be a good idea?  It’s one thing if she wore an ugly dress with a ridiculous bow to be ironic, but this is clearly not what is going on here.  Someone thought this look was precious.  Someone was very wrong.

  • I actually love the dress, I think the bow makes it JUST this side of appropriate, considering it’s so short. I might prefer a different color, but I like it. I’d hate it if she weren’t 15, but 15 is about right.

  • Anonymous

“Any comparisons to you at your sophomore dance are simply not valid in our nasty, bitch eyes. ”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  It’s a pretty hiddy dress. I don’t think you’re wrong, either. That dress is just not great and doesn’t look good on her.

  • Jessica O’Connell

I agree but mostly for that bow… it’s just so ridiculously huge. Also, the shoes are awful. OUT

    I like the hair though!

  • Anonymous

    Hailee, close your ears….
Yes, TLo, you are 100% right, this is awful.  Humongo bow!  Wrinkled dress!  Colors of accessories that don’t match!  Ugh.  Her hair is nice.

  • steve foreman

“I shall call it, “The dress with the big-ass bow.”

  • Anonymous

This, my friends, is what an *invisible* zipper looks like. Kind of like a rare bird.

AHEM… No woman, not even a 15 year old one, ought to wear a bow wider than her @$$.

  • Anonymous

    Yeah, Hailee, no.

  • Anonymous

I think she looks adorable! I agree that the bow should be smaller and I hate the shoes but overall, I think this is super cute.

  • Anonymous

I’ll take the purse, thank you. The rest is pure fug. What is with that damned Minnie Mouse bow? Cutest face ever, though.

  • Aw, I don’t think it’s that bad. The bow is a little silly, sure. But it doesn’t bother me. She still looks cute, appropriate, and put together.

  • Anonymous

It’s a silly dress, but at least it’s silly in an age-appropriate way.  I really wish she would go back to being 15.  There’s no reason for a girl that age to be at runway shows, or for grown women to take fashion cues from her.

    • Anonymous

This is what I was thinking.  Unless you’re Tavi Gevinson, if you’re 15, why are you acting as a designer’s clothes hanger, going to fashion shows, and…well, what jeeplibby said?  Is it just about the money, or what? Why aren’t you hanging out with your friends or riding horses or doing your homework?

Which sort of answers the question of whether it’s OK for TLo to do the judging thing.  And I think if you put yourself out there and collect a paycheck for it, you’re fair game.

Which allows me to say that she looks ridiculous in this dress. The bow the size of Idaho, and the ill-fitting bustier.

  • yeah, i think you two boys are wrong; she looks adorable, age appropriate, interesting… it’s not boring like the crap the fanning girls mostly come out in (SNORE)

  • Anne Slovin

I don’t really like the dress either, but she looks lovely, and I love the bag, and the contrast of the bag to the orange in the dress.

  • Anonymous

I totally agree, both with the bow and the bustier.

  • I don’t hate the front, but that bow.  It’s over done.  How cute it could have been with a correct proportion, but that just looks ridiculous. I still give her props, she could look like Taylor Momsen…

  • Anonymous

But they gave her the dress. OK it’s pretty silly but wasn’t it polite to accept it? And wear it proudly? I’m sure she’s very polite, And her makeup looks wonderful. IN!

    • Politeness has nothing to do with it. She’s probably contractually obligated to wear it.

  • Jessica Rowe

I like it. I’d wear it and probably look ridiculous but… I really like it.  IN

  • Anonymous

She’s so cute. I think it’s a great dress for her or anyone else in her age range. And its Miu-Miu like Miu Miu kitty, how cute is that?

  • grouchywif

Never noticed it before, but she looks like Phoebe Cates (circa FTRH).

  • Anonymous

I think it would be cute w/o the bustier and bow.  With different shoes.  The bustier looks odd on this.  But at least she’s not trying to look 15 years older than she is.

  • Anonymous

OK, I was going to tell you how horrible you are until I saw that bow. As usual, you are right again.

  • Claudia Fernandes

I think she’s adorable, original and quite apropriated for her age. The dress is fun! In!

  • margaret meyers

It’s the kind of bright, contrasty, obvious dress that attracts young women.

  • Anonymous

I was fine with the dress until I saw the bow.  Love her little purse, though.

  • Anonymous

That guy with the blue tie behind her – he looks like her grumpy dad.  And his pants are too long.

  • You horrible bitches! That bag ain’t cute!

  • I think there isn’t a single thing right about this look except that she’s an adorable girl, and the purse is okay.  Other than that, it’s about as out as you can get without getting into Paz territory.

  • Anonymous

I continue to be incredibly impressed that this 15 year old is not dressing like a hooker.

  • So I was iffy on the dress until I saw the bow and now my eyes have exploded

    • Anonymous

Yeah, that was my reaction–saw the bow and truly went uhhh and my whole body deflated 3 inches. Do have to agree with Audrey’sMom, however–at least she isn’t dressed like a hooker.

  • Anonymous

I might be wrong here, but I think some of the perception of how she looks might be tied to the fact that the kid has gained weight. She certainly looks like she has more pounds than previous times when you have praised her.

If that is the case, you might want to feel a little guilty.

    • Yes, we definitely feel guilty because of your imaginary accusation.

      • Anonymous

I’m sorry but I tried to make a specific point not to accuse.

        • Then you probably shouldn’t have ended it with “You might want to feel a little guilty.” The fact of the matter is, we said not one word about her body and we don’t even see this supposed weight gain that you (and only you) have brought up.

          • Anonymous

Ah, I’m sorry. You had said “Go ahead. Tell us how horrible we are.” so I guess I was trying to write my post in that context but when I stated “IF that is the case”, I was trying to emphasize that you, of course, shouldn’t guilty. I wasn’t trying to imply that it WAS the case.

I apologize for not being clearer. I obviously don’t write for a living.

Horrible but honest! 🙂 And no one should have a bow that big. I wonder how smushed it got when she sat down.

  • Christina Brennan

I like this dress, too.  It’s a bit wrinkled but otherwise cute and fun.  I also like the pop of color of the handbag.

The bow is the worst! But from the front, I think she’s darling. Even though the silly putty shoes should take a hike.

  • IN!

I’m going to be really really mean and confess that I’m getting tired of her already.  Will now go look her up on IMDB and see what she’s up to.

  • Julie Clark

i think the hair is the biggest problem here. too matronly.

  • Addicted2Glamour

LOVE her handbag. And I actually liked the dress until she turned around. From the back it’s very Disney Park Employee uniform.

  • I think she looks great, I would the bow right off of it but other than that i think its fab. But you’re right about that bag, its yummy.

What happened?? She always looks so great!
This dress is just a wrinkled mess. plus it’s ugly. If you’re going to wear an ugly dress, get it steamed so at least it doesn’t look like a schmatta.
Nothing against the girl; I happen to think she’s a beautiful young lady, but that dress? Oy vey.

Anyone who is old enough to sign a modelling contract is, by definition, old enough to endure criticism of their paid clothing choices. The dress is ugly. And everything else about the look is nearly as bad — purse excepted.

Not horrible at all.  In fact, I agree with you.  She normally looks flawless and age-approriate, but this is just a wrinkled, ill-fitting mess.  The Uber Bow is perhaps a fun wink, wink in theory, but in practice it’s not working. Do like the purse, tho.

The dress looks like a lady giant who wears a lot of lipstick smacked little Hailee on the front with the world’s largest kiss. Which might not be a bad thing, except in this case… Is. And the Nanny McPhee hair doesn’t help the awkward lipstick dress with a butt bow worthy of a 1980s bridesmaid dress.

  • I agree, she’s fair game. That being said, I think you’re crazy. I absolutely ADORE everything about this dress, other than the fact that it’s a little wrinkled and needs a good steam.

And it’s wrinkled and pulling all over the place.  She usually gets it right for her age, though, and at least it doesn’t show too much skin.

  • She’s adorable! I love the dress!

  • Toto Maya

I actually didn’t mind the bow, though it could be smaller. I don’t like how the bustier int he front fits. But still, overall she still looks good.

I wouldn’t have a problem with it if I agreed about it being hiddy. But I don’t agree. If this were an In or Out post, she’d get a full-on IN from me.

  • I actually like it! Sorry I think you’re wrong! I love everything except that dumb little loose hair and the rhinestones on her bag.

  • Real bustier + no bow = A+

As is, it’s a D. Sorry hon, but you’re too cute to wear such a fugly dress.

  • Anonymous

She gets full marks for looking sweet and happy to be there.

I do not like the beige, the bow, the bag, or the bodice.
    How’s that for alliteration?

  • Anonymous

You’re not horrible. That dress is.

  • Anonymous

The bow’s ridiculous but that bustier thing is really awkward. Not a good dress at all. Give this sweetheart better things to wear!

  • The dress design is very cute, but bad fabric and execution. Looks like something thrown together on PR.

  • Anonymous

I think she looks adorable! Though I question the accessories somewhat.

  • I don’t think you’re horrible. The girl inside may be adorable, but the dress she’s wearing is ugly, even clumsy looking. The combination of that cosplay-worthy bow and her sophisticated hair is mind boggling, too.

  • chapoupette

as soon as i saw it i loved the dress but then i saw the shoes which are ……frankly horrible and that gigantic bow uhrrrr
but other than that LOVE the dress
