It’s a pretty coat, but I think the volume makes her look short and chubby.

    • Tiffany Hickman

I had the opposite reaction. More like, I can’t believe her waist is still that tiny in a bulky coat!

    • Anonymous

gosh, i guess i should never go outside in winter then, being actually short and chubby! personally i think she looks fab

    • Anonymous

      I was going to say I think it’s hobbit-like.

I’m straight up WEEPING over this coat. I NEED it.

  • Anonymous

Could she be more fabulous?  Really?

  • Anonymous

    I LOVE this coat–so fabulous.

  • Addicted2Glamour

    **swoon**

  • Anonymous

I want that coat. On my body. Right now.

  • Anonymous

That coat is amazing!  Can you find out who the designer is?  (Not, I’m sure, that I could afford it.)

  • http://twitter.com/RzYoung RzYoung

Breathtaking! Morning Tlo, it’s lunchtime here. x

  • Barbara Woodruff

Whoever makes that coat should pay her for wearing it. She looks fantastic. I seriously want one. (Or a knock-off that I can afford…)

  • Anonymous

It’s amazing how she always looks like Dita Von Teese.

I WANT THAT COAT, but I don’t think I could pull it off.

That’s what I love about Dita. She has great personal style, yet her style is accessible for the rest of us (at different price points). How easy is it to put your hair in a bun, slap on a headband so you look like you thought about it, apply lipstick and sunglasses, and throw a great-looking coat on top? Just as easy as putting your hair in a ponytail and donning sweatpants.

      • Anonymous

This is an excellent point.  I was just thinking that I sadly don’t think about taking a minute to fuss with hair/make up and a cute coat in favor of the sweatpants that I am wearing now.  Who knew that Dita would be giving an object lesson today?

      • Anonymous

Just what I was thinking – it didn’t take much effort for DVT to look amazing here, a lesson for all of us.

      • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

I couldn’t have said it better myself!

      • http://inkyheels.tumblr.com Inky Heels

I agree with you.  She is inspiring to me and is one of the motivations that keeps me consistently dressing with intent.  She has simple hair and makeup and probably something easy to wear under the coat so the coat makes the dramatic and chic statement.  Dressing with intent doesn’t have to be all done up fancy either nor is it something  that needs to be time-consuming.  I enjoy being more polished even if I’m going casual – so thanks Dita and keep it coming!

          WWDD? (What would Dita do?)

      • Geno Boggiatto

        Preach!!

  • Anonymous

Fabulous coat! Wonder what was going on with the switch in bags.

    • Anonymous

my guess is that she either bought that bag in the store, and it’s in the black bag she’s holding, or she dropped her purchases off somewhere and picked her purse up. many times, when paps are involved, the driver or bodyguard will hold either purse or purchases ~ a switch could’ve been made off-camera.

  • Anonymous

I adore the coat with a red hot passion (and the handbag), but it would look awful on anyone who weighed an ounce more than Dita. I’d love to see what she was wearing underneath also.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Wow what a gorgeous coat.  I don’t care if some might call this shape matronly.  Its womanly, flattering and perfectly tailored.

  • Anonymous

The coat is fab, but I’m more excited about how great her hair looks.

  • Anonymous

    WANT THIS COAT

  • Anonymous

What a gorgeous coat, really stunning.  It fits her very well, I know a couple of comments mentioned the bulk and added “weight” but I think that is just part of wearing a coat.  I sometimes wish we could get away from this single minded obsession that all clothes has one goal – make me look thin and show of my figure.  Sometimes clothing should just be looked at for what it is – clothing.  This coat is amazing and if it adds a couple of lbs, who cares?

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Bravo Tom!  My sentiments as well.  A coat is extra protection from the elements, therefore its worn over other clothing.  No way in hell its gonna make anyone look skinny, nor should that be part of the intended effect.

    • Anonymous

I’m going to chime in and say there’s a difference between a single-minded obsession with wanting to look skinny and wanting to wear garments that flatter and fit well on one’s particular body type. This is perfection on Dita. I am larger than she is and if I wore this in my size, I would be walking around like a giant unfurled umbrella, knocking a few people off the sidewalk. There is a lot of volume on the bottom half of that coat and the bulk would not work well on me. This does not in any way diminish my absolute love for this garment or for how it looks on her. Nor does it change the fact that I could WERQ the heck out of a lot of other coats. Women do care and I think our approach to clothing is a little more complex than just make-me-look-thin.

This woman. i mean, really, I want to be her when I grow up. And I am in my late 30s. She is beyond fabulous. (And as for being short and chubby, I think she looks fabulous and normal when compared to the stick insects that seem so dang popular now days. Not every woman wants to be a stick and not every camera angle is going to work. She is working the heck out that coat. I want to see the corset that is giving her waist such a lovely definition and she’s clearly wearing a dress/skirt with volume on the bottom. No crime in that. It’s her style.)

  • Anonymous

Love It ALL! Short? Chubby? Who cares!

    • Anonymous

If that is short and chubby??  Sign. Me. Up.

  • Anonymous

That is the most fabulous, gorgeous coat I have ever seen. I want one!!!

  • Noelle Haland

    BOW DOWN M-EFFERS!!

  • Anonymous

Curves for days, weeks, months … I adore her!  LOVE the collar.

  • Anonymous

Has this woman ever looked bad?  I don’t think it’s possible.

  • Anonymous

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Goooooooooddddddddd!  Now I’m going to be obsessed all day with longing to own that coat.  It’s simply gorgeous in every way!  Total love.  Dita just Knows, doesn’t she?  Fab.

  • Anonymous

    That coat is fabulous!

  • michelle shields

    just WOW!

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

FABULOUS coat.  I covet…  Love the sunglasses also.

  • Terence Ng

    Ugh, just too, too gorgeous.

  • Anonymous

I see a couple of hairs out of place in picture 2.  Oh, the scandal!

Seriously, it is impressive how well DVT is always put together when she’s out in public.

  • Anonymous

i love coats & that one is to die for.  she is really fab!

  • Anonymous

Chubby, schmubby! She looks absolutely fabulous! I love the entire look; hair, make-up, shoes, dress underneath…etc. Love. It. All.

  • Anonymous

I wish I could wear that coat with the same amount of style.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=49702581 Susan Bullard Mayer

    She looks so warm!

  • Anonymous

WOW.  She is perfect.  From head to toe.  Lovely.

  • Anonymous

is it custom or vintage? i find it hard to believe that it’s OTR, but it may be…

sidebar: i really wish you guys had an app ~ not in the traditional sense necessarily, but just an ipad-optimized version of your content. mobile versions of sites are always boring, but your usual site isn’t super functional on mobile devices. its beauty and ease-of-use are mainly apparent on desktops (in my personal experience). and considering how many times i check t.lo per day, i’d definitely pay $1-2 for a slick, ipad magazine-type version.

  • Anonymous

When you have a coat like that, who needs dresses?

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

For real. You could wear your nightgown under that coat and look fabulous. No one would have to know.

  • Anonymous

She’s gorgeous, and the coat is TO DIE, but it has got to be exhausting to feel like you have to be ‘on’ all of the time.

  • http://twitter.com/veronicamers Susan Howard

Fabulous. The coat is amazing, but it is also the other styling details that make me swoon…I am dying over here hair, sunglasses, lipstick and even her perfect red nails.

  • Judy_J

I’m sitting here at my computer sobbing because I WANT THAT COAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Does she not look like a perfect, walking (and presumably talking) porcelain doll?  And I mean that in the most complimentary sense possible.

  • Anonymous

You know she has a great New Look dress under there. She looks great. Love the coat.

  • Anonymous

    It is a beautiful coat.

  • Anonymous

God damn she brings it!! LOVE HUH.

  • Anonymous

What a great gal… she looks fabulous.  Having recently been to Paris, I can’t imagine wearing heals on those cobblestone and/or cracked sidewalks… my flat, sensible walking shoes would probably reduced our Ms. Teese to tears.

  • http://www.facebook.com/shawn.eric.hill Shawn Hill

She’s kind of beyond WERQ, isn’t she? She’ll let US know when to WERQ!

    • Anonymous

If there was an Olympic event for WERQ, she’s win the gold hands down!  I looked at the photos and was just astounded…and I’m betting she pulled that together in like 10 minutes.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

Fabulous coat. Doesn’t matter that Dita is the one wearing it. I think anyone would look fab in it.

  • http://twitter.com/enuma enuma

That coat is ri-goddamn-diculous.  In the best way possible.

  • Anonymous

    Fabulous, as always.

  • MilaXX

I love that coat! I’ve been looking at winter coats and the ones in my size are so ugly this year I may just wear what I have,

  • Anonymous

while it’s a beautiful coat, it’s too long.  makes her look very short

  • Anonymous

She doesn’t have an off switch does she? Love the coat to death. Very “New Look”.

  • Anonymous

Perfection. I love the coat and how great she looks in it.

“Dita Von Teese in Paris” sounds like one of those Cinemax soft-porn movies.

  • Anonymous

I don’t have anything to add to what’s been said except that I would just die to have a coat in that fabric, just cut differently. I agree that someone larger than her, the voluminous bottom half would be a problem. But what attracts me is the pattern and texture of the fabric and that collar! If I had a coat like that, I think I would just walk up and down the street for no reason just so people could see me (and be awestruck).

  • Anonymous

Wonderful. She is more Parisienne than the Parisiennes.

  • Anonymous

The “New Look” observations are the undercurrent here.  That silhouette is attractive and flattering to most body types, and it’s worth reviving.  Of course, a set-in skirt requires more sewing and fitting, as does a shirtwaist top.  An elasticized waist or a straight waist cinched only with a belt is a lot easier, but the result is nowhere near as polished. The classic looks take skill, but the payoff  is so great that it more than justifies the effort.  One can hope for a come-back, but I’m not holding my breath, given how poorly clothing is made for the average consumer.  For high-high end… well, others more in-the-know than I can weigh in on the ability of manufacturers to turn these garments out.

    All the best,

    NDC

    ooooh how pretty.

  • Anonymous

I wonder if this coat is true vintage?

  • http://twitter.com/karenrubyleo Karen

    she is just fabulous!

  • Sara__B

That may be the most beautiful coat I’ve ever seen, and she’s styled it to perfection. I wonder if the dress underneath is equally fabulous…

  • Anonymous

LOVE her, LOVE the coat.  So fabulous!

I also love how her “casual” hair consists of throwing it into a bun and it still looks chic as all hell.  Amazing.

  • Anonymous

O to the M to the G.  If I were a designer, I would a) design for her exclusively and b) pay her to wear my stuff.  and in my next life, I want to come back as her, only minus the MM experience.

  • Anonymous

God, she’s fabulous. What I wouldn’t do for an ounce of her fabulousness.

  • Anonymous

….and the Goyard bag….*le sigh*…..ok now I’m gonna be depressed for the next hour

  • Anonymous

She’s a vision. Dita + Paris Streets, it doesn’t get much better than that.

  • Joyce VG

    *sigh* Miss Dita…

  • Anonymous

    She’s magnificent!

  • http://www.facebook.com/chloe.stabler Chloe Stabler

    Oh.  My god.  WANT.

  • Anonymous

that is a great coat. in all senses of that phrase.

  • Anonymous

Oh, geez, I need that coat!

  • Anonymous

The shoes! I love that she’s in a classic pump of reasonable heel height, rather than some big focus-pulling shoe. Chic-enstein. Also love the subtle contrasting note of the wood or brown leather handle on her bag (the purse, not the mondo Herve Whoever).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3GXKZ3BMJXBO7BJ26T3AP7QHNU Hildy910

Looking around the Interwebs, there’s also a pic that shows the coat with the collar unbuttoned and opened up so it looks like a shawl of sorts, which is also very pretty.  Not sure of linking protocol here so I didn’t.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_JQSQJRAL4YYWB2OZNHNUHKZAEY Christopher

Fab coat,  looks more winter than fall though.

Also weeping with the other coveters (sp?). If God loves Rachel Zoe so much for working hard that he rewarded her with an easy pregnancy, maybe God will love me so much for, um, you know, being nice (?) and give me that coat.

  • Anonymous

Ohhh, I don’t know. As fabulous as it is, that is one voluminous coat. The rear view, uhhh, thinking *double wide*…

I do however think she looks terrific from the neck up.

  • Lies L.

My sole reaction to this is simply: I WANT IT. I WANT IT. I WANT IT.

  • Anonymous

This is what amazes me about this woman:   She can pull off a high fashion coat like this when she is about 5’ flat.   I’ve never seen such a tiny woman be able to wear clothes the way she does.

But, I’d like to know where she gets her money for all this expensive stuff.

  • http://twitter.com/vintagegoddess just julie

My first thought was that if it was not custom but vintage then it is probably a Lilli Ann coat.

  • Anonymous

Miss Dita is my ladycrush anyway, so she can do no wrong.  But wow, I feel an unbearable need to own this coat.  It’s awesome.

  • kim i

i would dearly love to see what she has under there.  in terms of the clothes she’s wearing, i mean.

Wow. Gorgeous. But I thought it was hot in Paris this week? Did the temperatures drop?

Fabulous.  She is such a perfect hourglass.

Such a beautiful coat! I have seen this exact coat for sale on etsy in the past, it is a 50s New Look Lilli Ann coat – whether she bought it I don’t know, but it was a teeny size!

  • http://www.joannao.blogspot.com JoannaOC

Gorgeous shape to the coat. Despite its volume, it shows off her lovely hourglass figure. As usual, she inspires.

  • http://aintbaroque.wordpress.com/ Ain’t Baroque

Um. Yes. I’ll take one, two if it comes in another color.

  • Anonymous

I love her, but she’s far too short for that coat. She should give it to me.  I’ll take good care of it for her.

  • Anonymous

    Uber stylish

  • Anonymous

This is no doubt hyperbole but it doesn’t feel like it at the moment: that is the most fabulous freaking coat I have ever seen.

Oh my god, the collar and lapels alone (that button!) are killing me.

Love her, and it’s a wonderful coat, but it looks too big on her.
