In or Out: Sarah Jessica Parker in Prabal Gurung

Beverly Sutphin would not be pleased with Sarah Jessica right now.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Prabal Gurung

Sarah Jessica Parker! It is mere days after Labor Day and you are wearing white shoes! Infidel!

Does anyone really care about that old rule? We can remember being teenagers and rolling our eyes at that one. And trust us; our teenage years were not, how you say… recent.

Besides, what would have been the appropriate choice of shoe color to pair with hot pink slacks (for those are surely slacks and not pants) and a lipstick-red blouse? Okay … black, but it’s not like it would have really improved the look. At least with the white at the bottom, there’s a bit more visual balance to the look. All that color keeps your eyes up but that little pop of white at the bottom teases them a bit. Black shoes would have been invisible and this color combo needed a highly visible shoe to balance it out.

We actually love the color combo, but we’re having something of a bright colors moment, as is (not surprisingly) the fashion world. We can’t sign off on the Sansabelt slacks, though. We like the color, but the fit is way too disco with a side of yeast infection. The top’s cute.

There. This outfit has been fully T Lo-assessed. Your turn.

Vote Now!
IN! Bold, Bright & Sassy!

OUT! My eyes! They may never recover!

Voting on Marion Cotillard’s bodacious widow look is still wide open, darlings.

The top is sort of cute, but still, not her top.  Maybe if she were in her late 20’s/early 30’s still, but even that’s pushing it. Out on ALL of it, especially the ratty hair.

      • http://twitter.com/bredalot Breda Smith

I’ve come to the conclusion that SJP & I have basically the same type of hair. And let me tell you, it is HARD to make it not look chunky like this, even if you tie it up: the ends always separate themselves weirdly. But then, my hair products cost about $6 each, and it’s done by me in maybe 10 minutes before I run out the door, so.

        • Anonymous

Ditto, Breda. I feel your pain. ;-)

          • Anonymous

Well for what it’s worth, ladies, I think her hair looks lovely.

    • Anonymous

OUT OUT OUT…the pants, the shirt, the HAIR…so much OUT

      • Anonymous

Yes.  I was watching Letterman and saw this come out and I really did say “My eyes! “.  Not because I read that here before, but because it hurt my eyes.

        • Anonymous

I said the same thing when I opened this link.  She should be arrested for visual assault. OUT.

    • http://twitter.com/SuzBald Susan Baldwin

The runway’s belted look might have taken the yeast factor down a bit.  The color combo is pleasing, agreed!

      • Anonymous

Yes, the tucked-in-ness of the shirt is what bothers me. would have liked a black belt/sash and black shoes a little better.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=3601429 Jessica Sanborn

Almost in. If those pants were tapered and ankle-length it would look SO much better. Those shoes are pretty unforgivable though. Maybe a neutral metallic peep toe would have helped. Those white clunkers are OUT.

    • Anonymous

Black/White who cares! But Pleeeze do not tuck in the blouse! Love the colors, though but I have to say OUT!

      • Anonymous

i thought the same thing about the blouse but then because sjp is so short the proportions would have been way off. i like the shoes. i have to say out as well, but a belt with the trousers or a skinny pant instead with an untucked blouse would have been an in. and the runway styling is making me nuts. hate the gloves and i am having a wtf moment because it looks like they slapped a wide black belt over a sash! is that an illusion caused by excess fabric bunching up?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UZWAJEEQNSF55IUUYFT362M5X4 Nancy

Out.  The pants are awful, as you say, and the top is Pirate-Wench-Who’s-Ashamed-of-Her-Boobs.  Her makeup also looks awfully harsh to me.

Agreed, though, that the color combo is pretty great and very of-the-moment.

    • Anonymous

“Too disco with a side of yeast infection.” Laughed out loud.
And: OUT. Not flattering. Maybe I could have been persuaded if she’d worn the belt?

      • http://www.katymcdermott.com KatyMightHave

SO agree on the “disco with a side of yeast infection.” The Duchess herself wishes she were that clever!

    • Anonymous

I can’t. Those pants. Out, out, out.

    • Anonymous

Why did she tuck the shirt in?  It looks SO much better and the slacks are so much less slack-ish on the model. And I can never give SJP an in until she starts parting her hair an inch or two to the side.

      • Anonymous

Argh, so true. She’s delusional with the center part. It’s for great beauties with perfectly symmetrical faces only. Otherwise it’s like an arrow pointing at all the flaws in your face. She’s so pretty with a side part, e.g.:
        http://themusingsofondolady.onsugar.com/TGI-Friday-7009302
Also going more brunette would be easier on the skin tone as she gets older. With the belt, the outfit looks sharp and modern. Without, it’s just harsh and weird bright. (I typed “weirf” at first. That should be a word. Mix of weird and barf. Weirf is the new fug.)

        • Anonymous

          *nods*
          I like “weirf”.

      • Anonymous

She’s such a fashion victim anyway. It’s like she never thinks about what something actually looks like.

I’d like to see her with a side part and short hair in a blunt cut – kinda like a flapper, ya know? That center part just elongates her face and nose.

    • Terence Ng

Do the pants seem brighter on her? They look more coral than hot pink on the model…The lighting, I guess.

Anyway, belting it would have made it more acceptable. Sorry, SJP. I like you, but OUT.

    • Anonymous

Ya know what? Aside from the kindergarden color choices and pointy white shoes, its really that hair that bothers me the most. Girlfriend time to up grade to a better look in the hair department!

      • Anonymous

i always thought she looked really pretty when she was pregant and got that super cute short haircut. her hair looked great, she was glowing, and the baby weight really softened her features.

        • Anonymous

She looked so great in that bob that I went out and did the same thing to my hair (which is very similar to hers). What I neglected to recall was that bobs never look good on me, and that she has very angular features on a thin, long face, whereas mine could be the understudy for The Great Pumpkin. And I’m 5’8″ and built on a much larger scale than she is. LOVED it on her, though.

        • Anonymous

Exactly! I was thinking of that same cut. Very cute on her!

    • Anonymous

Definitely OUT the way she wore it. The shirt is giving me Seinfeld Puffy Shirt vibes. And the whole thing is ridiculously unflattering. OUT I say. OUT.

    • Anonymous

I just like the fact that it isn’t one more tight mini dress that so many stars wear.  i like the colors, don’t like the blouse tuck.  overall In.

    • http://twitter.com/Juliaismagic Julia

I would fall to my knees in rapture if the pants were of a different cut. I love the look and the colors so much, especially paired with the white shoes. But she sure is wearing an awful lot of makeup. I guess the occasion calls for it, since she’ll be on TV. IN, because she’s doing something stylishly interesting. I will leave the pants as a taste issue.

    • Mariah J

I totally agree that the colors are perfect, white shoes are the way to go. The only thing I miss is maybe a belt somewhere…if not then a chunky/long necklace? Still IN though.

    • Anonymous

TLO says “the fit is way too disco with a side of yeast infection.”  LMFAO  but still an IN for me.

    • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Love the top, hate the bottoms… Hmmm. Love the color combo, tho. I think those are tall girl pants and she ain’t. But I REALLY love that top… {sigh} I guess I’m going with OUT.

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.wordpress.com Catherine

Love the color combo. I think I would have liked the shirt better if it was short-sleeved. I really can’t get behind the 70s look. Still, IN.

    • http://twitter.com/polevaulter94 Renee Alexander

Out. 100%. I cannot approve of the color combination, no matter what the fashion world says. And the top does nothing for her figure.

    • Anonymous

IN–it’s fun and she has the bod to pull it off.

    • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Dr Skylaser

Tucking in the shirt = crime.  Pants would have been SO much better in a slim or cigarette cut than in this half-assed trouser leg thing.  Makeup not doing her any favors.

    • Anonymous

Someone should outlaw combining those 2 colors.  Especially in this way.

So far OUT she has left the building.

    • Meredith Blixt

OUT. I don’t mind the color combo so much but she really needed the belt, or her hair up, or…something…to make this work.

    • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

I love it. My only criticism is I think it could use a belt. I think the white shoes are great.

      • Anonymous

Eggggggssssaaaaaaaactly.  (to quote an old PR fave)

    • Anonymous

IN. Although, as with TLo and other commentariat, not in love with sans-a-belt look – and the tuck looks a little askew. Love the color combo – it’s what I did in my bathroom in a recent re-do!

    • Anonymous

Hideous.  On all levels.  It’s not the two colors.  I’ve seen cute outfits that pair red and pink.  It’s that each separate component is hideous (and too big for her).  You shove them together and then expect us to enjoy having our eyes seared by this color combo on top of it?  No way.

    • Anonymous

OUT.  Love the colors, and love them together.  The outfit looks great on the runway–the black belt really accentuates the look.  With the shirt tucked in and without the belt, the outfit loses something and the pants get too disco.  Also, her hair is covering up some of the most interesting aspects of the blouse.

      • Anonymous

Just what you said.  It looks like a rumpled and unstylish mess on her.

      • Anonymous

Oh, and I despise the white shoes. OUT.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=27432316 Ally Monge

I like the color palette, but the pants and blouse’s cuts are horrendous. OUT (I do like the white shoes tho)

    • Anonymous

I can handles those colors together if they are part of a pattern but two solids … not my fav. Don’t much like the top in general either. I do love her hair but I’m usually in the minority of liking SJP’s hair. Regardless … OUT!

    • http://twitter.com/VerenaHafnerLDN Verena Hafner

IN! I hate white shoes but one has to consider the bigger picture here, they really lift the look. Maybe she could have done a white shoe with some sort of pattern, like snake skin: http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/169432

Anywho, I’m just glad she didn’t wear platforms…

The tuck isn’t working for me.  Wearing it out and with a belt would have been the better choice. In this case, the tuck in is an OUT.

    • Anonymous

I like the belted version better, but I’d still give her an IN. Maybe she purposely wore white shoes to poke fun at that old rule.

    • lilibetp

Scary.  The top is the wrong shade of red for her.  And if she doesn’t cut her hair…

    • Anonymous

I really want to love this, but I agree with a lot of the other comments – tucking the shirt in just kind of threw it all off. Now I look at this, and all I can see is… crotch. That is not a positive. Neither is the fried hair.

I like the white shoes and the color combo, though… I suppose maybe you could get away with some other bright color that wasn’t in there? Bright blue, perhaps? Maybe I’m crazy, I don’t know.

    • Vaniljekjeks

Out.  The whole thing is just too much.

    • Anonymous

Great colors, very sub-continental, I had an Indian-made bedspread in the 70s that was just like these — hot pink & orange…don’t mind the shoes, but the Sansabelt is, I agree, a big disco ugh.

    • Anonymous

Out because of the color of the shoes.  TLo the white is hideous here.  Black would have been okay, gunmetal, or a sandal.  Plus tucking in the blouse is also criminal with these pants.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKEMUFJDBZL5KUVSXY22FFS3EM Deborah

I love it–I think she looks adorable. I’m with the crowd who’d like to see a new ‘do, but I don’t know that I’d be critical of it with this outfit if I weren’t so ready for her to change it up in general. In from me.

Stop it!! “… the fit is way too disco with a side of yeast infection” – TOO much!  Hilarious!!

I love the colors.  And I think everything wrong with the pants would have been helped by not tucking the shirt in.  (I love the look on the model minus the extreme black accessories)…so I think she mostly got this right.  But I cannot give a side of yeast infection an in – so, OUT!

It’s hard to criticize her look because she is such a dear person.  But if I separate her from her look, I find I’d like to see a more contemporary (read mature) hair style.  And while I LOVE the cheery colors, I am distracted by the waistband of the slacks.

In! My biggest problem is the ruffle on the bottom of the sleeves.  Other than that, I’d totally wear this outfit to work tomorrow.

    • Anonymous

I like the color combo a lot but something about this just isn’t working. The fit seems off on the slacks and the blouse just isn’t doing it for me. The outfit looks better on the model, which is something I don’t often say. SJP please, puhlease ditch the harsh eye makeup.

      OUT.

    • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

She killed that look when she tucked in her shirt and lost the belt. The white shoes don’t bother me but it’s waaaaay past time for a new hair cut. OUT.

    • Anonymous

I want to like it, (I love it on the runway) but the tucked in top takes toward Brady Bunch land. Oh Marsha, you’re OUT.

Ps- Kudos for the Serial Mom reference I totally LOL’d

I can’t abide the tucked in blouse and the not perfectly zipped fly. I mean, no.

      OUT.

    • Anonymous

I wanted to see electric blue/deep turquoise shoes at the bottom of that outfit. With colors that saturated, might as well go all the way. Plus a complementary color always works.

I say IN for general fashion bravery on SJP’s part. I think people are too hard on her; she usually looks better than most other celebs, and even when she misses, it’s interesting.

OUT. She looks horrid in these pants with her toothpick legs. I can’t get behind anything here, the horrible hair, the hag makeup, the color combination, the slack style, nor the shoes. Okay, I like the blouse but not as featured.

    • Anonymous

Runway versus real way? Runway, for sure. SJP totally jacked-up the look by tucking in the shirt and adding white shoes. I’m with the growing mob demanding /suggesting a new do.

OUT.  I don’t mind the idea of bright colors, but these are literally making my eyes HURT.  Beyond the color… the slacks are just fugly no matter how you look at it, but a belt would have helped a little.  A belt, even if it matched the shoes, would have been a nice break between the colors, and perhaps made them not quite so migraine-inducing.  I also think she needs to find a new makeup brand.. something about the way this foundation sits on her skin is doing bad, bad things for her.

I like the outfit on the model.  I don’t think she should have tucked it in.  I don’t know about the shoe.  I mean, I agree about the rule-who cares about white after Labor Day?  I got back to the model.  The black belt helped balance the color, so I didn’t need to see the shoe.  And I kind of wish she had her hair up, so you could the details on the shoulders, which looks odd without the bottom to balance it.  She doesn’t look BAD; she just doesn’t look as good as she could, and that’s almost as bad.

I guess I’ve talked myself into an Out.  But I like the color combination!

I really can’t get behind the white and the hot pink pants. The fit is all wrong to my eyes. It actually looked better on the runway version when it wasn’t tucked in within an inch of its life. And I rather think that black peep toes would have been the better choice. In fact – I’m gonna say that SJP might have been an “in” if she had went with the runway look more or less.

      OUT.

I just can’t get behind any of that outfit at all. It looked slightly better with the shirt untucked and the belt on the model, but I still loathe it. I love her hair though. I have long curly/wavy hair, and even with smoothing products it still has plenty of fly aways and always looks a bit crazy. That’s just how it is and I’m not going to waste hours with a straightening iron to strive for some European/Nordic idea of perfect straight hair.

      • Anonymous

I don’t think people object to the texture/curliness of her hair, but more to its length and unflattering center part.  As someone said earlier, her hair was adorable in a short curly bob several years ago.

That was my immediate reaction. Two big blocks of bright neon colors looks dreadful.  The white shoes are dreadful.  Her hair is dreadful (as always).  Her eyes look as though someone punched her.Mutton dressed as lamb (again, as always).  In other words, OUT.

Why not canary yellow for the shoes and then we can twist her into a salt water taffy?

Oh, I am risking ostracizing: IN.  Not perfect, the fit on the pants at the waist is a scooch off to me but I love the tight slacks and the color combo is smokin’!  Personally, I would have left it tucked in and added a belt.  Maybe even an animal print belt, go all the way.  Still, an IN from me.  One of the things I admire about SJP is she wears what she wears with confidence and that goes a long way.

    • http://twitter.com/PsychicMuppet Bitsy Carver

IN! Love the colors! But I will say that SJP’s makeup is making her look a little Sunset Boulevard.

    • Anonymous

Like the colors, the top looks better untucked and belted. Hate the white shoes. (I am old enough to think that is a rule never to be broken unless you are on a tennis court…) Just looks too much. Out.

I like saying Prabal Gurung. Prabal Gurung, Prabal Gurung,Prabal Gurung. See? It’s fun. Just like SJP’s outfit. I’d like it better if she wore it untucked with a belt like the model, but she’s still in. This is actually one of the few outfits that stars wear that I could actually see myself wearing (untucked and with a great leather belt, of course). I like it a lot. Arrgh, me hearties!

Maybe it would be better with the shirt untucked and great belt with its own pop of white over it?

Out.  At least the sleeves largely cover her man hands.  THe blouse is nice, but as Barbara says, it should have been untucked like on the model.  the pants?  Horrid.  The shoes?  nah.  The hair- let’s cut it, SJP, please?

I kind of like this combo color in theory, but I think the wearer needs to show a little skin to make the effect less intense…you know, like a skirt to the knee or sleeveless blouse.

The shoes are horrible with it. I’d go with with a fun print shoe or a strappy metallic of some kind.

Out, but not by all that much.

P.S. Shoes along these lines (yes, I know these are cheapies):

Hot mess!  She could have at least worn a belt to break it up some…  And if the outfit wasn’t already bad enough….she had to put on those fugg white shoes.  Sorry, white shoes are not my thing in the first place, but these just seem totally out of place.

    • Anonymous

I gave her an IN for her recent Red Riding Hood/lion’s paws get-up but I can’t go there with this.  It might have worked if she’d worn it as the model did but tucking the shirt gives the whole look a hideous dowager-in-Palm-Springs vibe.  It also makes her look way too thin, to the point of looking frail.  And while I’m all for throwing fashion diktats out the window, white shoes are never appropriate, no matter what time of year, unless you’re on a tennis court or wearing a nurse’s uniform.  OUT.

    • Anonymous

This is difficult, because the bright colors are a nice change and quite appropriate and cheery considering the recent weather. However, the fit and silhouette do nothing for her and that hair is atrocious for someone of her standing and wealth. OUT, I think. The cons outweigh the pros.

OUT. The outfit looks way better with the blouse untucked and belted. This way, it is indeed polyester disco pants and a fit only her gynecologist could love. Well, actually, the OB/GYN probably hates it because of the yeast infection risk. But, anyway, I hate it, too, and I’m not an OB/GYN.

    • aimee_parrott

I really like the runway version.  But the way SJP is wearing it? So very OUT.  I hate the pants, they need that belt desperately.  Also, her makeup is looking pretty harsh and it’s not helped by the fact that the orangey-red of that blouse is really not her color.

    • Anonymous

Out, but it’s strictly about the outfit.  I hate versions of the Denny’s 1970s look.  Making it searingly bright doesn’t make it better!  I agree with no choice but the white shoe.

She shouldn’t have tucked it in.

    • Anonymous

Just barely in. Squeaking by. I don’t love the color combo but she did bright blocks of color and made it work. My real criticism is that she looks *not-quite* from the neck up. And I’m not sure if that’s not quite well-groomed enough or not quite young enough or what. Just *not-quite*

    • Anonymous

OUT.  I like the way the model is styled better, blouse out and belted.  Maybe it didn’t work for SJP because of her short stature, but I still think is would look better then the tucked version.  She need new makeup.  I swear she has the worst make up artist on the planet.  The heavy eye makes her look beady.

Dear God…WHY is the top TUCKED IN?! Looks so much better out, a la the runway.

    • Anonymous

Oh lordy lord. The top is weird, but if it wasn’t tucked in it would work (ahem, werq) as it covers the worst part of the pant. That style of fly always looks weird uncovered, it’s too thick and sticks out so far.
From the neck up, she has no vibrancy. Dishwater-dull hair, too-dark eyes, and less-than-luminous skin. Hello, the right foundation and highlighter, plus a brighter hair color, would make this look work. If one is going to wear such an exuberant outfit, try not to look like death warmed up in the hair and makeup department.

I’ve never understood women wearing their long hair covering design elements of their tops — either you can’t see the interesting part of the outfit, which seems silly or it just ends up looking cluttered and sloppy.  That said, I loathe that top — too fussy and not right for SJP, even if she had gotten her hair out of the way.  Also, I think she’s ready for a hair and makeup update — neither are doing her any favors.  OUT!  Love the color combo, though.

As if I didn’t already love you glorious bitches, you have my forever adoration for that yeast infection comment!  Since I was a teen, lo those many years ago, my Mom and I have always (and still do) refer to such slacks (or jeans or whatever) as “yeast infection pants.”

And here in the South, we are Beverly all the way (LUV HUH)–if you wear white shoes after Labor Day or before Easter, prepare to have eye-rolls and whispering around you.  Just sayin’.

      • Anonymous

Well, she had a surrogate for two of them…

    • Anonymous

You definitely need the black as a pop of color to break up the red vs. pink. I am debating if it would better with less sleeve. maybe sleeveless with a high neck/detailed collar. Having the arms bare would help give the eyes somewhere to rest because it is an awfully busy look. Especially since she is so short. I think it would helped balance her out some because this makes her look stumpy. I like the concept, execution is off. A squeaky IN from me. She was ambitious which scores big points for me.

And I don’t know what she has against the softer hair and makeup she sports every 7th appearance. Someone needs to tell her this combo (harsh makeup & clunky hair) is very aging.

    • Samantha Irene

Yup – top cute, colors – great, that tucked in business… not working. Looks better on the model untucked.

    • Anonymous

its not for her. and the outfit needed some edge in the styling, accessories (i like the black shoes and belt better), and (perhaps most of all) attitude. the “I’m just a girl pose” aint workin. OUT

    • Anonymous

I love it. The whole ahn-salmb. Fun and cute and oh please boys where did you get the yeast infection idea? Those pants fit her great and they are tongue and cheek but still very chic and modern. The only thing I want to change is the hair. Please SJP, find someone with a new idea for you. Your clothes are evolving with your life but your hair stays stuck in the gutter of time.

      IN

The color combo works, as do the shoes.  I don’t like the fit of the pant at the waist and zipper, and the hair and makeup…not so much either.  The face close up is quite severe looking…bad lighting and…

    • Anonymous

I don’t mind the color combo, but the waist on that pant in insane / it does look like man slacks and not in a good way.  She has a rocking bod, but this is an OUT.

Don’t care about the white shoe rule, but it’s a rare moment when a blouse looks good tucked in.  This isn’t that moment.  SJP – just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

      OUT.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_66KPZ36LMHMRQOX3HIJGHRNNUA MandyM

Tentative in… It’s a nice color combo and most of it looks great. I wish she hadn’t tucked it in. The waist looked better on the model. Also she needs a smooth bra under it. I hate seeing bra lines like that. And her make up was awful. She was looking a little old and hungover.

      • Anonymous

I know, visible bra lines are a pet peeve of mine. With all the wonderful undergarments out there now, there’s no reason a woman has to have lumpiness under her clothes!

So much more interesting of a guest than what she is, in any circumstance.
Sorry, off topic. OUT. Go a size up in the pants, get a belt and lose the ratty hair.

    • Anonymous

In, because I like most of it, but I don’t think it should be tucked in (which would mitigate the issue of the belt on the slacks), and I would have belted it as on the runway model.

    • http://summerborn.livejournal.com/ Summer Born

OUT. It’s the way she’s wearing the top that’s not working for me, although I question the fit on the pants as well. Doesn’t it need… a belt, something? It’s not looking right at all.

    • Anonymous

Any woman who W this color combination is undoubtedly in the throes of severe PMS.  And that’s no excuse, because after the first few years of getting PMS, one should learn to deal with it and have mirrors strategically placed at every exit and a BF who will vet every outfit during that critical time.  Friends don’t let friends go out like that, let alone appear on national TV.  OUT.

      • akprincess72

        Along the same vein…
My mother always told me one rule to live by even if all others were to be abandoned.  DO NOT go & try a new haircut or color within the three days before, or during your cycle.   You simply can’t trust your style meter then.  To do so would place you in danger of all sorts of ills.

    • Anonymous

She looks great and the slacks’ fit could not be better.  Tucking the blouse was the way to go.  The white shoes were an okay choice, better than black.  Hair very good.  Makeup might be a little too severe.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say, is IN.

    • Anonymous

No. Those are just jacked-up chinos. On her bottom half she looks like a housewife from New Canaan, Connecticut circa 1981 who forgot her strawberry grosgrain belt and needs to go back to Lily Pulitzer and pick it up. She looks like hell in the face, too. Trowels of make-up. The blouse is cute and the color looked great on her in the thumbnail so I had hope, but those hopes were dashed. OUT.

    • Anonymous

Isn’t she about at the age where it’s time to start wearing a soft bang while slowly trimming down the nose? She’s looking so masculine. I think it makes her edgier fashion choices look harsher than they need be.

    • Anonymous

Every time I see her I think “Why doesn’t she part her hair on the side” way more flattering for practically everyone but maybe Cher back in the day IMO. Second, look at the guy behind her with the white sneakers, she doesn’t look any better. I am all about the white shoes only  from memorial day to labor day. Keeps them real.

Out. I hate those shoes. I think I would have liked it with black much better. The outfit itself pops enough as it is. Also, the way the model is dressed looks better, with the shirt not tucked into the pants plus a belt. Much softer and more fun. If those pants were red I’d kill to get them. I love them. Very feminine (although a skosh tight on SJP).

    • Claudia Fernandes

an old golden pair of sandals would be lovely

    • Gigi Louis

I hate white shoes, regardless of the time of year.  I find them attention-pulling in a bad way and, no matter how much they cost, they always look cheap to me.

I do love the color combo of this look but it seems a bit sloppy and tossed together for national television.  The runway look is great but SJP is petite and would never be able to pull those proportions off.

And having it tucked in completely ruins the intended design of the shirt–that the hem flare in the same way the sleeves flare.

    • http://twitter.com/TwiterlessTerri Terri

I like her hair, and I like the white shoes.  The color combo works, but the pants are really ill-fitted and the shirt looks better in the tunic style sported by the model.  The pants make it an out.

why the tucking in?? now is not the time, SJP! those pants! kinda dig the colors, but still out.

It’s the high-waistedness of those slacks that are killing me.  Otherwise this would be an IN!

Her stylist must be shot. If only the blouse were untucked (and wear a belt or have the blouse fitted). If only she was wearing shoes that weren’t white (teal blue? black? navy?). If only her hair was under control. The look on the model is fabu (what a retro word!), SJP fails. Out.

I think she’s too short to leave it untucked. The model’s probably a foot taller than she is, with legs for miles. She’s quite petite.

Out. It’s too young for her.

I love her and I love the outfit. But I don’t love the outfit on her. And please god, will you get a haircut already SJ!

OUT OUT OUT. I hate those sleeves, and the white shoes. yuck.

The top is too fussy for me and I wish she had a comb…  Out

    • Sara__B

Maybe it’s because I was a single girl rocking the high waisted pants all through the 70s, but I think SJP looks dated, and haggard to boot. Maybe if she’d worn the blouse untucked, with a belt? OUT.

    • Anonymous

Out. Another costume from SJP.  That blouse with a pink skirt, the runway belt and black slingbacks would have worked much better.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GQIN74TNNQROY5JFPOWWBGJWEM andy

I normally loathe red and pink together, but this looks pretty damned awesome. So… IN!

But please, please, PLEASE, SJP, fix that ratty-ass busted hair! I’ve pulled wigs out of kids toy boxes that looked sleeker and prettier.

      Yuck! OUT!

    • Anonymous

The outfit is just too young for her face now.

Also, why don’t her eyes have any whites?

    • Anonymous

I love color, but this pairing makes my eyes hurt.  And adding the white shoes makes it even more wrong.  Her hair looks fine, but her make-up looks a little harsh without all the filtering that will certainly take place once she gets inside.  This is an out.  O. U. T.

    • Judy_J

I thought I had old lady hands!  Hers make mine look positively youthful!  Thanks, SJP!  But your outfit is OUT.

    • Alexandria Nichandros

SO IN! SO Sept Vouge, actually. J’adore la SJP!

Even though it’s an odd color combination, I like it.  It’s bold and I like the white shoes.  So I will give her an in, although I like the way the top was styled on the model better

      I like it.

Sorry, but I really hate the slacks and the color combo. It looks like she got dressed in the dark. Those slacks (in another color) were popular on 60 year old men back in the 60’s and 70’s. For a REASON. At least with the blouse untucked you can’t see that awful waistband.

Also, okay, so she’s a mature actress, rockin’ some youthful colors, and I think that’s rad.  Love the naughty shoe choice.  Sassy!  But the styling looks all whack.  The sleeves on the blouse make her long, thin arms look sort of “ghost arms from beyond the grave-y”, don’t they?    I like the blouse better on the runway model, too.  Tucked into the pants, it draws way too much attention to her hot pink crotch. And I’m not sure the rock-n-roll hair is working with all that color and fluff.  It’s like she’s wearing too many accessories or something.  Tame the mane, mama.

I like the colors but not together.  Looks like she mixed up her Garanimals.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Out.  First, why would she tuck that blouse in?  It looks much better on the model – left out and belted.  Second, white shoes.  Third, her hair is a mess.  O-U-T out.

It looks good on the model because the model looks like an overdressed 12-year-old with enchantingtly
naive taste. It looks bad on SJP because she looks like a middle-aged woman who fears she was at her best when she was young, dresses to pretend she still is (and from the looks of these photos that now only works from 150 yards, on a cloudy day), and has no idea how to accept aging. Really pitiful. She would look so much better – and happier too, maybe – with a big mane of fuck-you grey hair.

    • Josefina Madariaga

I don’t know. Love the color combination and it’s mostly well fitted… but it’s too juvenile for her. In the end, it makes her look old and brassy.

      It’s an OUT.

The color combo just doesn’t work for me.  Never has, never will.  OUT.

IN-Ok, I too wish she had worn the black belt sported by the model, but SJP’s look is cool & grown-up. Guys, what drives me insane is the belly-aching about her hair! Dont you remember when she chopped it all off in season 6? She looked awful-the short cut accentuated the boniness of her features and so many complaints were sent to the show regarding her hair that season. Women with long face shapes need lots of volume on the sides which she has. In my opinion the side part which she wore in SATC 2 is not a flattering look on her either, as it accentuated her nose! Obviously I love her hair how it is, and I think listening to her hair people who are giving her the correct advice is a smart move. It looks soft and romantic and the color as always is fabulous. Ok, rant over!

Out I’m thinking she needed to choose between big hair or big sleeves but both is a little much. Also really don’t like the shoes. They look like they came from Payless and I’m quite sure they didn’t. I like the color of the pants but she should have belted the blouse like the runway version.

I am loving the gold color and white shoes. I just can;t get on board with the tucked in shirt.

I like it from the waist up. The bottom half read “Sally O’Malley” to me immediately.
