Yea or Nay: Alexander Wang Resort 2012 Accessories

Posted on August 10, 2011

We’re not crazy about Alexander Wang’s designs and we were really not crazy about his resort collection, but the accessories from that collection just became available for purchase online and are worth a second look. Besides, our precious unborn fawns do so love to talk about their little purses and shoes, don’t they?

We like the colors and textural elements here. Very little reinventing of the wheel, but solid, modern pieces for the gal who dresses to make an  impact. We love the shoes, except for the mesh pair. We especially love those textured blue pumps and the updated Beatles boots. We’re totally over animal print at the moment, so we’re not loving that one purse, but the bright blue and yellow bags are fun.

Now, scroll through the pictures, form an opinion, and answer the question at the bottom like a good minion.

YEA or NAY: Alexander Wang Resort 2012 Accessories?

And if YEA, then which ones, darlings?

Yea – the first bag and the black one. And I sort of like the last pair of shoes in a if-someone-else-was-wearing-them kind of way. the other shoes are either boring or ugly, but I actually like most of the bags. (Not the dalmation one or the second blue one, why would you put a zip at the bottom like that? Function, function, it’s just as important as form!)

    • Leigh Eisele

NAY!! that electric blue leather is AWFUL.

      Yea! I like em!

    • Anonymous

I like the texture on the blue bag and shoe, but otherwise I’m bored.

    • Anonymous

yea, I really like a lot of these, so overall they are in

    • Anonymous

I like the boots – they look stylish without being completely impractical for winter weather.  Edited to add: NOT the mesh ones with the open toe — those are just stupid.

      • http://www.madamovarypart2.blogspot.com madam ovary

THANK YOU.  Open toe boots.  God, I just think it’s absurd.  Isn’t winter the one time you can not worry about your toes and your pedicure?  That’s $17 a week saved!

        • Anonymous

$17?! Where do you live and where can I find this glorious deal of a pedicure?!  We pay at least $25 here in Chicago!

Yea on the blue pump with the netting over it.  And yea on the blue bag, the first pic.  Kinda reminds me of a bowling bag, but I still love it.  And yea on the black bag.  But that pump-sandal with the tie and the velcro straps-yikes.  Nay on that.

    • Anonymous

YEA, especially to the first yellow bag (top handle satchel) and the clear/gray pumps… they are my absolute favorite.

    • Anonymous

the blue and gray pumps are to die for! the rest is meh; the studs are kinda outdated in my opinion.

I like most of the bags, not really into the shoes. But I’m not really an Alexander Wang fan either.

I love the tiny blue textured clutch and the shoes that match but thats about it. I have to say I really despise those ‘cleats’ on the bottom of the bigger bags.

More NAY than YAY, but I do love the first purse, the black and white purse and maybe the blue pumps unless that extra soul is white instead of silver, in which case…never mind. Also, upon reflection, I could live with the bootie 6th entry down – could be cute with pants.

I love the first 4 bags/shoes, and the clear spectator pump, but I could do without everything else (particularly those unflattering ankle boots).  5/13 is a failing grade, I’m afraid.

where’s his double saddlebag pursepants {or whatever it was, from resort}?

other than that, i like the blue purse uptop, the yellow bucketbag at bottom & i like the teeth at the sole of the purses. the zipper shoes are pure 80s90s.

Mostly YAY for me. I like: first blue bag, textured blue pump, both boots, especially the first pair, small blue bag, tan tote bag, black tote, mesh pump. I almost like the last bag but I don’t like the stumpy things on the bottom.

    • Anonymous

i like everything except the boots. big yea!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nicole-Walraven/527225623 Nicole Walraven

why are there treads on the bottom the bags? are they going hiking?

mostly nay except for the blue pumps, and i like the black mesh booties.

    • Anonymous

LOVE the top bag, although the handles should be a little larger so you can swing it over your arm when needed. I can do without the rest. SICK OF the hobo style bags.

    • Anonymous

      Eh?
I like some of it — especially the lower heel height on the boots. But mostly it just looks like everything else. Don’t see anything terribly innovative.

    • Anonymous

      Blue shoes=YES.

Blue bag, YSL’s City Tote, Balenciaga’s Shoe, and Fendi’s Spy Bag these are all knock offs from other designer collections. Nay!

Nay. But it should be a big hit with a certain set of young 20somethings.

    • Anonymous

Overall, the collection gets a yea.  Personally, I like the second bag, and the grey hobo as classic purses that I would carry.  I also like the blue clutch, but that is a something I would buy, thinking I will travel light and don’t need a big purse, but then I end up not using because it won’t fit everything I need.

The shoes are nice to look at on other people, but have no reality in my life.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Love, love, love that shade of blue.  And I really like the silver hardware on the purses.

YEA!  love the blue & tan purse, also the beatle boots

    • Anonymous

Yea to the bags.  I like the uncommon shapes of a couple of them, and I like those corner accents.  Yea to the zipper shoes, meh to the rest.

    • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

Yay on the purses, nay on the shoes.

    • Anonymous

      Negatory.

The first shoe (with the three zipper details) is kind of cool. The black-and-white purse is kind of interesting.

Everything else is dullsville, except for the second black stiletto-heel shoe, which is hideous and offends my eyes.

    • Anne Slovin

      Coveting the tan tote.  Gorgeous.

    • Rand Ortega

The third bag – gray and black animal…I bought a gray tone on tone fabric with that “pattern” to cover a bench on my foyer.  So I do like that one.

While I like a lot of the bags, I wish they were more shallow and maybe a bit wider – I hate digging down a foot to find anything at the botton of my bag.

Nay, nothing that thrilling or even that “new”.. The black and white bag was okay.  The zippers on the shoes, well, that’s been in payless for at least a year or two….I just felt blah…to quote Nina…”it is sad.  it made me feel sad…”

I’m a sucker for that color of blue. I want it. It’s so pretty. I see that color and I just go nuts. Maybe it’s a kind of brainwashing.

      • Anonymous

I completely agree – use that shade of blue, and everything improves for me.  Fortunately, my sense overcomes my senses when it comes to purses that cost as much as a medical procedure.

      meh.

YEA for the blue, and the first pair of boots.  Everything else ranges from “Meh” to “Nay”.

    • Anonymous

yawn. That blue textured bag looks like some sort of monster, kind of.

    • Andrea Rossillon

      no. These are boring. OUT.

    • BuffaloBarbara

Why do several of the bags look like they’re looking for brains to eat? (The fake zipper teeth just make me think it would be really uncomfortable on the lap at a movie or whatever.)  Except for the really boring beige tote, of course.

    • Anonymous

The blue shoe and the zipper shoe, if I had to pick something to own.  The bags are not very inspired, although the construction and materials look very deluxe.  YEA, if not very enthusiastically.

    • http://twitter.com/Littlegrr Mary Nau

Yea to all except the two pair of  black shoes.  Love the blue shoes, really like the grey shoes, really like the first pair of boots, like all the bags.

    • Patricia Biswanger

YEA to all but the black shoes.

I liked the first two shoes.  And then scratch goes the record.

Hit and miss deal for me. Some of it I would buy, if I won the lottery, and some of it I’d buy to set on fire.

    • Samantha Irene

YEA! The yellow coco, the putty colored hobo with the studs, the blue pumps and the first blue bag!

A surprising yea to almost all of them. My SAD may be kicking in a little early but I love the use of color in the bags. Not so much with the blue bag and shoes. The fabric kind of reminds me of a cheesy motel bedspread.
