WERQ: Taylor Lautner

Posted on August 23, 2011

Here’s your pretty for the day, darlings. Don’t look at us like that; he’s way too young for us. But strapping heterosexual Taylor Lautner does cut a fine figure when he plays dressup, doesn’t he?

Taylor Lautner attends the premiere of “Abduction,” in Sydney, Australia.

Sure, the tie is askew, the pants need at least a half-inch taken off the hem, and his jacket sleeves are a skosh long… plus, color somewhere wouldn’t have been a bad idea, but he still looks better than 90% of his cohorts when they’re on the red carpet. And we can’t rip someone who’s really putting the effort in, so we’re giving him positive reinforcement: a subtle, discreet, “You WERQ that shit, girl dude!”.

We will forgo the snaps this time.

    Ooh.  Impressed.

  • scottyf

    *sigh*

If only I were 20 years younger. And straight…and female…and….

Oh, damn it, you get the idea. What a cutie-pie.

Wait! What? No fly list?? Dish…

      • scottyf

No fly? Did I say no fly? glad he removed it before too many people noticed

        • Anonymous

Okaaay, you’re just toying with us. Scotty has his secrets. Heh-heh, me too ;-/

    • Anonymous

Darling, I’m sure being a female won’t get you anywhere with him.

      • scottyf

But not perpetuating rumors and respecting his privacy might.

        • Anonymous

I couldn’t care less about his personal life. Just calling it like I see it.

          • scottyf

            Ohhhhh. So you’ve seen “it?”

Well, now that’s a horse of a different color! *follows the hue changing equine around Emerald City*

  • Anonymous

He always turns it out, doesn’t he? Love the pattern on that suit.

    • Anonymous

The pattern is interesting without being too flashy, I like it too!

  • Anonymous

These photos make me feel old and pervy, but man he is SMOKIN’ in that suit. Hubba hubba.

  • Anonymous

Enh. Twilight taints everything it touches, IMHO.

    • Anonymous

So true.  I don’t find him at all attractive, not even slightly.  But I won’t deny the pleasure of lust to anyone who does.  We all have our dreams, don’t we?  ;-)

      • Anonymous

You two talking about Shark Boy?  (Which I’ll watch repeatedly before I see those vampire movies) My he’s turned out well.

  • Cheri Lee

He needs to never smile, that is the only way he looks good.

i want to jump through this screen and have my way with him.
does that make me a bad person?

    Looking sharp!

    Looking sharp!

Maybe it’s just that they were in Twilight, but I can never seem to see him or Robert Pattinson as anything but douche-y looking, in any thing or any place I see them.

  • Anonymous

He cleans up nicely, but he is much too young to blip my radar.

  • Anonymous

what’s your thing with the hem?

    • http://theskippyreview.wordpress.com/ Skippy

      The pants are too long.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, to me his hem and sleeves look just right. Classic. I don’t like the “modern” shorter hem and sleeves that TLo favor.
It just looks to me like the guy borrowed his little brother’s suit.

      • Anonymous

exactly, I like it long enough to cover the socks, I hate sock-showing

      • Anonymous

Understand what you’re saying, I hate that ‘too small’  look also  – but I think the hem is supposed to break, not puddle. It’s a fine line. And you should be able to see the cuff of his shirt sleeve under his jacket sleeve.

  • http://twitter.com/ginpeck Gin Peck

I do love the check suit. He gets a golf clap for a good try.

(So, am I the only one that thinks he looks like Mr. Kim Kardashian’s little brother?)

    • http://twitter.com/ginpeck Gin Peck

Answering my own answer, Google says a lot of people think that. Huh.

    • irielle

Funny you mentioned that, because I always thought he looks like he could be related to her new husband Kris.

      • Anonymous

        one word: teeth

        • Helen C

The way their eyes kinda squeeze together is another resemblance.

      • Anonymous

OMG, he DOES look like him! And I don’t find either one attractive, especially this one….although I do like the suit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Not bad- but those wingtips should have BLACK soles.

    • Anonymous

I know, right? It’s kinda jarring.

    • scottyf

I dunno. The more I see them, the more I think of that kind of sole as a young male answer to Twee. Young female starlets have their gel purses and male starlets have their light soled shoes. I think once you pass 30, THEN it starts looking like you’re trying too hard to be hip.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

It’s a jarring combination of casual and formal- doesn’t work for me.

        • Anonymous

But ever so much better than the scuffed-up brown oxfords sported by Darren Criss et al.  I kind of like them

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

    I want that suit. Hard.

  • Geno Boggiatto

This should be a “scroll-up fug”. Start from the shoes, everything looks great, and then you see who’s wearing it.

  • Matthew Dinda

I know you guys were being sarcastic but since Mr. Lautner has been spending oodles of time with Gus Van Sant lately, I have a feeling that there is NO heterosexuality about him whatsoever. Van Sant is quite notorious for sleeping with the youngins when they’re impressionable and starry-eyed. (i.e. Franco, Phoenix, the kid from Elephant, Michael Pitt, etc.)

  • Anonymous

Sorry, his face is ridiculously unattractive. I fail to see it, mighty fashion blog gods.

  • Anonymous

You know, this is the first time I’ve ever found this kid mildly attractive.

  • Anonymous

He looks good, but I can’t find him attractive.  Every time I look at his face, I can just tell there is nothing going on inside that skull.  Also, based on the trailer, that movie looks like it might be one of the worst of the decade.

  • Christine Marie

He is NOT too young for me. And I want him. The end.

  • Anonymous

I like the suit and the shoes.

But there’s something about his face that has always said “boring oaf” to me.  Plus, I don’t watch those Twilight things, so the only kick I get from him is when shows on Adult Swim make fun of him having to take his shirt off at least once every five minutes.

    • Anonymous

I use to feel the same way re: ‘boring oaf’ until I saw him on Letterman. He’s quite personable and funny and very at ease. I was very surprised and felt properly chagrined for having judged a book by it’s seemingly oafish cover! *laugh*

  • MilaXX

He does look good, but the jacket button seems wrong somehow.

  • Ally Huang

Get your hand out of your pocket boy! But yes… he does look pretty cute!

  • Anonymous

Love the suit fabric, only minor quibbles about the outfit. But every time I see this child in a suit all I can think is “my, what a big neck you have, Grandma!” Guess he really was perfectly cast as a (were)wolf…

  • Anonymous

    I hate his face

    • Anonymous

      I second that!

  • http://chupatinja.wordpress.com Santa

    I like his shoes :)

  • Lisa

Yes, he looks very nice.  Not perfect but I’d give him at least a 98% got it right.

  • http://wipgirl.wordpress.com/ kristel

I like the suit. More interesting than most.

  • Anonymous

Meh. Nice suit and he seems like a decent kid, but he does zero for me.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

No No No!  When you have your hand in your pocket you shouldn’t see the bottom of the shirt and tie.  Ohter than that quibble, He’s adorable and quite nicely put together.

  • Anonymous

It’s a really great suit.  Too bad about the tie, drab shirt and hem….sloppy.

I do find him to be charming, but can’t help but be kinda freaked out by his blinding white teeth and unusually long neck.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Patrick-Cleary/1201575213 Patrick Cleary

He has fantastic personal style for someone so young. I can’t remember a time when I’ve seen a red carpet photo of him that looked anything but perfectly put-together. More male young stars should follow his lead.

Sounding like a PR season 6 fan, ” I would totally wear that!” He looks great. I would especially purchase those shoes. A bold, loud WERQ for Taylor.

  • Anonymous

(See, this is where a sarcasm font is needed since some people obviously don’t get some of the post’s commentary.)

Yeah, he looks good (but I’d have been itchin’ to fix his tie for him), but what is up with his shoes? Are those rubber soles on dress shoes?

  • Anonymous

What have they done to his right eye? Its always at half mast in pix anymore!  Me and my partner speculate that your eyes go wonky once you sign your soul over. Have you ever noticed how many famous people have the wonk eye?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

    adorable.  like the suit.

  • Anonymous

He seems so vapid the few times I’ve caught him on TV, I  can’t get too excited about him. I just can’t find someone handsome when they don’t appear to be much brighter than a gnat.

  • Anonymous

He always looks so well put together on the red carpet, this is no exception.  He has a hell of a stage presence too.

  • Anonymous

Funny how men you see as ‘pretty’ on first look get less and less attractive the more you see them.

This lukewarm mess is about as pretty as leftover meatloaf.  And just as talented.

  • Anonymous

“Pretty”?  Nah.  He has really tiny eyes, and he needs a shave.

    Next.

  • Anonymous

    Yikes…some hems, a shave, and…God I HATE those Shoes!

It is a nice suit, but I prefer this particular flavor of jail bait shirtless in Levis, thankyouverymuch.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=49702581 Susan Bullard Mayer

He makes me feel so old…  But Lord is he hot!

  • Anonymous

I’ll just never understand. The guy has two facial expressions: “blank” and “nervous sneer.” Yes, yes, it’s just how his face is, he’s not ACTUALLY sneering, I get that, but since his major contribution to society is supposed to be “is pretty”…

  • Doug Orlyk

I don’t feel he is straight or pretty.  At all.  His outfit does look decent, though.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, I don’t get him at all.

  • Anonymous

I don’t get it.  What does anyone see in this guy?  I do like the suit.  But do those shoes have rubber soles?  Isn’t that a little icky?

  • http://rockiinboxxe.blogspot.com/ KUR COL DE DAAB E NUBA

i just dont get the hype. at all.  carry on.

  • Anonymous

This isn’t his best look. Gotta give it to him, he really does make an effort to dress well on the red carpet. Wish a few more male stars would follow his example.

  • http://www.facebook.com/rebecca.martinez Rebecca Martinez

Say, when did he get rhinoplasy?  I thought his unusual and wide nose gave him a unique look, now he looks generic handsome.

  • http://www.manoneileen.com Manon Eileen

I personally don’t find him hot at all, I think he always looks a little… daft. Maybe it’s the neanderthal eyebrows and tiny eyes. Anyway, I do like the suit. Very nice and a good try. Hate the shoes though.

  • Anonymous

I know I’m about to get jumped all over but, ya’ll need to stop gay shaming him. He’s 18.
Maybe teenagers (his fan base) google him and maybe this post shows up and you aren’t calling him gay, you are insinuating it and calling him a girl. Kids kill each other over this now, literally.
Do you really want to be so A-list darlings?

    • http://www.tomandorenzo.com Tom and Lorenzo

Kids do not kill each other- literally or otherwise- because a couple bloggers insinuated a Twilight star was gay.

    • Anonymous

Where is the insinuation of him being a girl? And what’s so shameful about being gay?

  • Anonymous

The suit is fab, I like the shoes a lot, and he’s really cute, but he’s a baby. It’s impossible for me to look at him any other way. I’m thankful for that, because anything otherwise would make me feel like a perv.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_T53WBEPGJZ7MMMZC4O563YU5HA Observer

He’s certainly better dressed than most 18yr. olds’ I’ve seen.  Er, who’s his daddy, just asking?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HD5TGNE5FD3JH3WXFU4T3GOTLI Kenneth de Guzman

I’m sure he gave a Z-snap when he looked at his reflection on the mirror. GURL FIERCE.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I give him props for bringing his A game on the red carpet, he at least tries, even if he can’t get his hems the right length.  He may be young, but you know this is one person that is going to age well!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Emily-Smith/12431153 Emily Smith

His face has just never done it for me.  Sure his bod’ is smokin.  But he’s always been a male butterface face for me.  But his shirtlessness is the only consolation prize I got for when my roommate dragged me to see the damn twilight movies.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andra.ruscoe Andra Ruscoe

His stylist money is always well spent.  Good for him!

  • Anonymous

i just think he is adorable.

  • Anonymous

Given how bulky he is (although less so than in the past) the way this jacket fits him should be a lesson to others.  It’s perfectly fit.  He doesn’t do it for me, but I do love a well tailored suit jacket.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=546029712 Bibiana Beardsley

Everything works except for the soles on those shoes.

  • Anonymous

I think the hem and the sleeves are perfect. *runs and hides*

  • Anonymous

He does have a slamming body but I have never seen -oops, I forgot Keanu – I have almost never seen anyone with less charisma no matter what he’s wearing.  That blank expression – so wooden.

Maybe I’m too old but I just do not get this guy.  He is weird looking and entirely unattractive, nay a little repulsive to me.  Sadly, I agree with the mini-werq simply b/c there is such a ridiculously low standard for men on the RC.  All those little things wrong with this outfit would have been serious dings on a woman on the RC, but what’s to be done?

  • narita_rayna

    he’s got a face like a thumb.

  • Anonymous

It’s precisely because he doesn’t have the standard Hollywood / Ken Doll facial features that folks seem to either love his looks or hate them.  Not sure anyone here’s qualified to make pronouncements on his intellect, but as far as discipline and work ethic go, how can you not give props to a kid who earned his black belt in karate by age EIGHT, and went on to rack up several world championships in martial arts as a teen?

Having said all that….. I cannot abide that tie.  Bad enough that it isn’t tightened, but it’s too thin to begin with, and a four-in-hand knot is almost never the best choice.

    Jury’s still out on the crepe-soled wingtips….

  • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

I wish his shave had been a bit closer, but I’m with you.  Looks great.

  • Zubair Ghumro

There is nothing about him or his dress worthy of discussion, just because most of the male celebrities turn up in their sleeping outfits, he doesn’t deserve the coveted WERQ!!
