WERQ (sort of): Kelly Rowland in Versace

Posted on August 18, 2011

Bless our fairy blogsisters for the term “scrolldown fug” because, well… just look for yourself:

Kelly Rowland attends attends a photocall for X Factor in London in a Versace dress paired with shoes and cuff by Giuseppe Zanotti and earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Versace Fall 2011 Collection/Model: Isabeli Fontana

GodDAMMIT, Kelly Rowland!

By the way, it’s really fun to wake up, pick a random celebrity, and then yell at them. They can’t hear you and you get to pre-vent (if not prevent) all your coming frustrations for the day. Try it! Anyway…

Miss Kelly! You have a slammin’ dress wrapped around your slammin’ bod and everyone all around you is staring at you. Your hair and makeup look great and we even like the Wonder Woman cuff. But girl, what the hell are you wearing on your feet? Leave the Klingon boots for an occasion when you can stuff a pair of skinny jeans inside them (although even then, we’re not likely to love them), but don’t wear these silly things with a dress, honey. We love everything above the ankles and you were sweet to us that time we met, so we’re going with our initial reaction (before our eyes went down) of “You WERQ that Versace snake shit, girl!

But get rid of the booties. Please.

      Klingon boots!
      LOL!
Thanks, TLo, for my 1st laugh of the a.m.!

      Holy God, that’s ugly!

To be honest, I don’t even like the runway styling either.

      • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Very true. Klingon boots are ugly, but open-toe boots are just ridiculous. And Kelly is WERQing it much better than the model.

      • http://unamundamour.livejournal.com/ Unamundamour

The runway boots are appropriate for the dress, if not fabulous.  The proportions work and I can ignore the open toe on a boot.  I’m just having trouble coming up with an example of what would be WERQ-worthy and not just acceptable.  But considering she got a WERQ despite the fug shoes, maybe non-fug is all that’s required here.

        • Anonymous

I was thinking the same thing about the boots. I can also ignore the open toe because the boots are sleek, and snug at the calf. Maybe a colorful stiletto (red? yellow? I suck when it comes to shoes that aren’t black or brown) would work instead.

She looks amazing .. The boots go with the dam dress   … Work it Kellz !!!

    • Anonymous

the cuff goes really well with the dress. agree, the shoes are off, but she still looks pretty great.

    • Anonymous

Cement overshoes.  That’s all I can think of.  Who in the mob did she piss off?

    • narita_rayna

she looks amazing from her head to her knees.  below that, shes got stubby goat feet.  that top bit, though, is pretty freakin’ slammin’.

    • Anonymous

total awesomness till we get to the feet.  I hate shoes like that. No woman needs feet like a Clydesdale Horse.

      • Anonymous

That’s what I was thinking — “Holy cow, she looks amazing… but she’s morphing into a Clydesdale from the feet upwards! By noon EST she’ll have a mane!”

        • Anonymous

          Love it!!

Man, and I’ve been watching a lot of Voyager lately, too. Timely!

Even with the warning, the shoe reveal elicited a “GASP”

    • http://profiles.google.com/awilsongirl Amy Wilson

Hot damn- those shoes are bad.

    • Alicia Choi

This dress needs a strappy shoe, pronto. Even the overused Christian Louboutin ones would suffice.

    • Anonymous

these boots/oversized shoes – it’s like the fashion industry is desperate to find something this generation can be ashamed of in a couple of years

    • Anonymous

Actually, I think both the shoes and the cuff are too heavy for the dress.  I would have gone for something strappy for the shoe and something chunky but smaller than that cuff for the wrist.

i dont even get why someone thinks the “klingon” boots look good?

    • Vaniljekjeks

If would so be a full WERQ if she had some nicer shoes.  That dress is incredible on her.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

I have to agree. If this were an ‘In or Out’ post, she would definitely be in, but DAMN. Those boots are stupid.

I do SO love Scrolldown Fug. God bless the internet for bringing me TLo & the Fug girls.

    • scottyf

Ms. Rowland; Are you sure these boots are the right choice with this outfit?

Klingon Stylist: SoH  lu’ gho’  SoH jagh!!!!

Ms. Rowland: Damn, I wish I’d remembered to bring my Translator.

      • Anonymous

Dear Lord, thank you for sending us Scotty F!  :D

      • Anonymous

Roughly translated that says, “Honey I wouldn’t be caught dead in those”

        • scottyf

          LOL
Actually, in very poor Klingon, it says: “You will step on your enemies!!!!”

          • Anonymous

Or how about, “What are you doing with my commanders boots on?”

          • Anonymous

            Speaks Klingon? A renaissance man!

      • Anonymous

Aha! I knew you were a dork at heart. My husband is also a dork, so obviously I love them. :)

    • Anonymous

Perfect description on this look.   Above the calves, she looks great

WARQ – when it’s almost right quotient?

      Love those Versace dresses!

Is it too OCD that it bothers me that the stripe ends abruptly at mid-dress?

      • Anonymous

That bugs me a bit too.

      • Anonymous

It bothers me, too, especially if I think of it as a snake and wonder where the rest of it went. [/mind most definitely in the gutter]

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_FMOMLJSIXEEFBEHXSYCTCXAAZM Huckleberry

The stripe reads like a cartoon stench line wafting off her ladyparts.

    • Anonymous

I don’t that her hair is covering up the narrower shoulder strap. That’s a key design feature, and she covered it? Sigh. The back view is pretty spect-assular, though.

    • Anonymous

Dress amazing. Styling amazing. However, those shobooties look like she stepped in molten lava. Hate ‘em! I could not scroll past them fast enough.

    • Judy_J

I’m going to cut her some slack by thinking that she was wearing the booties around the house while she was getting dressed and forgot to take them off when she left for the event, because she can’t possibly have thought they looked good with that dress, right?

    • MilaXX

So close and yet not quite. I think she was attempting her own twist on the way the model was styled, but honestly if she had worn a fierce pair of pumps this would have been perfect.

    • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

Honestly, I think the whole thing looks so heavy for August.  And agreed on her hair obstructing a design feature.

    • Anonymous

I’m not sure I like the fact that her eyeliner matches the line in her dress.  And the booties are awful, with any outfit.  But I like the dress.

    • aussiegal77

What a way to ruin a fantastic dress!  Ugh, those boots are a crime.

    • Anonymous

UGGGHHHH!!  that dress is FIERCE, then the BOOTS!  DAMNIT GIRL!

    • Anonymous

I don’t like the model’s footwear either.  Why can’t we all just calm down and put on some nice shoes?

    • Anonymous

I guess I’ll  have to call this a WERQ-ish or WERQ-esque, just to work (ha!) more Qs and Es in there.

      Why the stupid booties? WHHHHYYY??!

    • Anonymous

Wow. Chic on top, pirate on the bottom!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_C65IT4K6RYN4TWRMFJOI3VUDAI Olechka Milashka

From the front the boots looked sorta fine, but from the side – OMG, take them off!

    • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

Also, what’s happening with her nails?  Are they different colors?

i literally just went ‘auughh’ upon scrolling down to her feet.

    • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

      You know what?…. I like them……

      • Tamara Hogan

So do I – but not with that dress.

    • Anonymous

Agree. Those shoes are obscenely hideous!

    • Anonymous

      Scrolldown fug:
       What fabulous hair!
      What an awesome dress!
      OMG, look at her ass!

      What the…..????

She makes me want to yell at her too.

god damn, bitch had buffalo bill turn dr phlox into a pair of boots.

Sometimes I think Kelly wears too much wig, and this is one of those times. And I see shades of Kardashian posing in the photo with the flag.

    • Toto Maya

Don’t care about the boots, she is GORGEOUS. Magical and sparkly and gorgeous. She could have hooves and I wouldn’t care.

    • margaret meyers

She is a beautiful woman, with a petite figure, and this outfit is making her look like a moose.

Not that there is anything wrong with looking like a moose if that was your goal.

    • Anonymous

I wonder what her stylist gets paid to fuck up every damn time. I want that job!

    • Anonymous

As soon as I saw the shoes I thought of Pee Wee’s Playhouse. She’d look 100% crazy good without the crazy cartoon shoes.

    • Anonymous

How is she still relevant?  WHat has she done lately?  And does anyone really care?

    • http://twitter.com/A_SmallFry AC

LOVE that dress and LOVE it on her. He shoes are making my feet sweat.

    • Patricia Biswanger

      Agreed!

    • Anonymous

Too much going on above the neck — tone down that weave — and below the knees– horrid shoes to be a werq. But the dress is fabulous

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

I’m not feeling the booties either. Otherwise, she looks super cute.

    • Shawn Hill

Total scrolldown fug! Dammit Kelly! Love the dress.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

Wow.  Such a great dress ruined but such an ugly pair of booties!

    • Cheri Lee

Fab dress, hair and makeup and I adore that cuff but those damn boots! I like that she tried something to punch up the intensity of her dress but those shoes are awful.  Did you notice her nails too?  What is she, 13?
