WERQ: Kelly Osbourne in Manish Arora

Posted on August 23, 2011

Let’s start the day off with a quick shot of fab.

Kelly Osbourne at the screening of “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne” to benefit the Musicares Map Fund in Hollywood in Manish Arora.

Manish Arora Fall 2011 Collection/Model: So Young Kang (MARILYN)

We supposed when a star is attending the premiere of something with a title like “God Bless [My Dad]” then it behooves the star to bring it big time to the red carpet. We suspect there won’t be a lot of agreement in the comments section but we’re used to that with our WERQ shoutouts.

This is a dress that no sane woman would attempt to wear in public, which is what makes it so perfect for Kelly here. We can’t look at the runway picture without eyestrain occuring so we’re not entirely sure exactly what changes were made, just that the dress on the red carpet only slightly recalls the original. And that’s fine, because the Kelly version of the dress suits Kelly to a T, although we’re a bit surprised by that since Kelly always looks her best when she’s in something sleek and relatively simple. Is this something the average starlet could pull off? Not bloody likely. That’s what makes this worthy; it’s such a perfect dress both for her and for the venue that we can’t NOT shout out, “You WERQ that crazy shit, girl! Love your shoes!”

I’m with you boys! This is completely fabulous!

Fab-u-lous!  And perfect for this event!

  • http://twitter.com/OracleKath Kathrine Marlow

It looks like they got rid of the fringe from the original dress and toned down the color a bit. But it’s totally fabulous, only Kelly could carry this off like this.  LURVE those sparkly shoes!

  • http://twitter.com/RzYoung RzYoung

I think it looks awesome on her! More people should wear patterns

  • http://twitter.com/marignygirl Marigny Girl

Looks absolutely great for her — and I am on pins and needles waiting for the Alist recap.  I have my Rand McNally dictionary in case I need a little help with the vocabulary.

    • MilaXX

yes! When Reichen is the smartest guy in the room something is seriously wrong.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

She’s pulling it off, but this is an Event Dress. It’s only purpose is to be seen and photographed while standing. The moment she sits down it will look like a crumpled poster.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Patrick-Cleary/1201575213 Patrick Cleary

Total rock-glam, and not so far away from the crazy prints that Alexander McQueen likes to employ. It’s not an appropriate dress for the Oscars, but it’s perfect for the premiere of a movie about Ozzy.

  • Anonymous

I LOVE THIS. The only way I’d alter it for myself would be to remove the sleeves. But either way, this fits her wonderfully.

  • Sarah Thomas

If the fit were improved on the lower half and the hem were about one inch longer, I’d capitalize this werq and might even be persuaded to add an exclamation point.

  • BuffaloBarbara

No argument here–she looks great.  And the dress screams, “Hello, I’m Ozzy’s daughter!”, which is just what the event calls for.

As to the changes, I can spot shorter sleeves, an alteration of the print on the front, and the face at the top is no longer a curly-haired Betty Boop style, but more… well, it looks like she had it made into a very colorful Ozzy.

    • Anonymous

well, it looks like she had it made into a very colorful Ozzy.   … What I see is that tthere looks like hair across the face of a (forgive me is it an anime girl?) and one exposed breast on that figure

It WERQs on her because the silhouette is right, even with the crazy print. Digging the shoes.

I like the fact she always looks pulled together, you don’t see her with roots showing or messy nails.  I do like her better with her hair down (she has such a strong jaw line) but with such a busy print she needed to keep it simple.

Looks like they shortened the sleeves, removed the collar and the fringe, and it fits rather than being loose on her.

    Werq!

  • Anonymous

She looks great and her hair & makeup are fabulous.  Who knew little Kelly would turn into such a fashion maven?

  • Anonymous

My first thought was Irish Step Dancing costume (not a bad thing) without the full skirt. Then I saw the model and went huh? Asian?
Whatever, I’m with the majority–it’s one of  a kind and it fits the occasion to a T. Do have to agree, however that once it sits down it will look like a crumpled poster–definitely a dress only for standing/walking–not step dancing.

I have to agree. Not many people could pull this off. She looks fabulous and surprised you didn’t mention her hair and makeup. With so much going on below the neck anything other than what she is wearing would have been over kill

  • http://www.manoneileen.com Manon Eileen

She looks terrific! I also love her hair and make up, she looks fresh and lady-like (and I’m still not used to seeing her that way, lol!). The shoes are kickass.

  • Anonymous

I agree, she’s pulling this off, but as you observed, I can’t see anyone else managing this feat.  Those sleeves…….puffs? layers?  armadillo shell?

  • Anonymous

    Ehhhhh, I like the shoes.

    • MilaXX

No sure what her options are with the jawline. Wearing her hair out would have fought with the shoulder treatment and print of the dress, half up/half down would have been too wedding-y. The best option was matte makeup and a simple but not super tight ponytail. Some of us just have big heads.

      • Anonymous

I would be OK if her hair fought with the shoulder treatment, by which I mean “hiding those flaps directly on top on her shoulders”. They’re too much, which is saying something considering the dress. And I’m not sure how she managed it, but I think her jaw is less prominent than usual. She looks very soft here.

        It’s almost a WERQ.

        • MilaXX

I think the makeup artist did a nice job on her face. There’s some nice shading and blending going on.

          • Anonymous

Yeah, it’s really impressive work. It’s simple and perfectly finished.

  • Anonymous

Right Dress on the Right Girl for the Right Event.  You Go Girl.

    Hair is perfect.

I would have worn different shoes but the shoes Kelly choose definitely work.

  • Anonymous

Awwwww…  I love Kelly Osbourne!  She’s made herself over into a hip, smart-looking young woman with a monster fashion sense. And she’s so sweet–on “Fashion Police,” she always feels bad when she has to say something negative about what someone’s wearing.

Nothing negative here–she looks fabulous from head to toe.  Makeup: flawless!  Shoes: killer!  And the dress fits her perfectly.

    WERQ!

    • Anonymous

      I totally agree!

Wow–she looks great. Very rock glam. Perfect outfit for an event associated with Ozzy Osbourne.

  • http://twitter.com/herong Heron

You know, I love the dress, but I hate the shoes and I’m actually kinda meh about the whole look. SHE looks fabulous, but I’m not overwhelmed with joy by it.

About the only thing Kelly’s dress has in common with the original is the fabric. But I like the warrior shoulder on her. And the snuggness at the sweep shows off her strong legs.

Fab dress, and this Kelly is indeed WERQ-ing it.

I can’t help it. She’ll never be an in.

  • Anonymous

I’m down with this WERQ. I love Manish Arora and his crazy-ass prints. Kelly looks great here. Back when she was a teenager on The Osbournes, I would never have predicted this level of sophistication from her. She is always surprising me.

  • Anonymous

Agreed, totally amazing. Those shoes are to die.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I think it’s awesome! Not everyone could pull it off, but it’s classy (which works for Kelly) and still has a strong “rocker” vibe. And I LOVE the shoes. Plus, I don’t think she could have found anything more perfect for this particular event.

  • Anonymous

    its fab!
only point i disagree: the dress (kellys simplified version) isnt exactly ‘easy to wear’, but i think it would look good on a number of people.

  • Anonymous

WERQ AND SNAPS.  LOVE HER. I ALSO love that while she’s gotten into beautiful shape, she still looks healthy, even athletic. Those legs could kick some asses!

  • Anonymous

She looks great–and I love the graphic on that dress, though not many women could carry it off.

  • Judy_J

She looks gorgeous!  Love the dress, love the shoes, love the hair and makeup!  She got it ALL right!

    also, her eyes look beautiful.

It’s a strange world we live in when Kelly Osbourne is a fashion icon.  She has become fabulous, and this picture proves it.  No one else could wear this dress.  She’s beautiful.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Though I don’t love what is going on at the shoulders, she is pulling it off quite nicely.  She looks so fresh faced and lovely these days…WERQ it girl!

  • http://twitter.com/warontara Tara

I really hate this dress. But I really love her in it! WERQ!

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Luv huh.  Don’t love the dress, but I gotta give her props for the shoes.

I appreciate how far she has come but to throw the word beautiful out there seems a bit over the top.  I like the dress but not the length.

She looks fab-boo!  And sparkle shoes!  Want!

But my first thought when I saw this dress was McQueen.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

      Susan, agree with you.

Why don’t you write to the ladies in New Orleans from the Krewe of Muses? Maybe they can do a pair for you as a fundraiser. The ladies spend all year adding glitter to old shoes. These shoes are prized throws during the Mardi Gras season; people will fight over a shoe!

      http://kreweofmuses.org/pics/index.php?spgmGal=Muses_Shoes&spgmPage=1

  • Anonymous

She looks fab. The dress is very reminiscent of McQueen’s 2010 collection, the one right before he died.

I can see a change to the sleeves the collar, the length and that horrible fringe.  All good changes.  Kelly’s version is just right for her-with her tattoos and her rock-girl attitude.  Jennifer Aniston would look ridiculous, but this fits Kelly.

  • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

She looks fantastic! For the first time in a long time she looks beautiful, and like the put together young lady she is trying to become.

    I want those shoes.

  • Toni Mitt

You are so right about our Kelly!  She looks stunning, and I love that she knows how to pose with that beatiful turn of the ankle.  Just excellent!

  • Anonymous

Would look so much better and more sophisticated if the skirt went to the top of the knee. For one thing, it’d balance out the linebacker shoulders, and for another, it’d give the busy design more real estate.

  • Anonymous

Love it!  She looks like a true Rock Royalty!

  • Anonymous

Love the dress. However but what put it over the top for me was the perfect pose. Take notice Hollywood this how you do it. No more knock-knee pretzel legs or dopy pigeons toes. Those contorted stances do not make you look thin or youthful, they just make you sad.
Kelly should be a red carpet consultant on how to pose at these events!

  • Anonymous

Out.  So close to fabulous, but the linebacker shoulders coupled with the heavy sleeves ruin it.  But the shoes are awesome.

  • Anonymous

Love the dress. Love her! A definite WERQ moment.

  • Anonymous

fun dress, fun shoes. seem appropriate to the occasion. but I will always hate masculine blue tats on pretty ladies, especially on the feet, hands, neck, face, lower arms.

  • Susan Crawford

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly – let me sing a wee tune to your perfection! Here’s a little girl who knows exactly how to rock this kind of wild and wackadoo fashion. I am LOVING this girl more and more as time goes by. She gets red carpet insanity. She gets off-center fashion. And most of all, she gets who she is.

  • Tamara Hogan

I’d prefer a few more inches of length on the skirt, but it’s a minor quibble. Very clever of her to keep the hair and makeup simple, because that’s a LOT of look to WERQ.

  • Robert Sanchez

I think it would look better if the dress were just an inch or two longer. But the dress itself is beautiful, and Kelly looks great.

  • Anonymous

Watching Kelly morph through the years in photographs, I would never have guessed that she would come into her own in such an outstanding way. Coming from the crazyass rock’n'roll world in which she was raised, she found her sanity in fashion.

Thanks to taking classes at the University of TLO, I know to look at the entire presentation. She’s the complete package here: great self-assured attitude in an unusual dress (exactly right for the occasion) with perfect posture, posing, hair and makeup, accessories and shoes to complement the dress which fits correctly and has an appropriate length for her age/occasion. She knows she looks fantastic.

    Bravo!

  • Joyce VG

I adore Kelly now. She looks great.

  • Anonymous

It’s a dress that can only werq if the wearer has the right attitude and je ne sais quoi that Kelly has in spades.
I could just be biased because I really love her, but I think she looks fabulous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QCJEZMOV4VYMXC5WJALLZNYEB4 Mari Rose

It’s perfect for the event and she looks good. I totally agree with you, TLo.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Carey-Cawthorne/1295384953 Carey Cawthorne

Fantastic. I wish I could wear that even half as well, ’cause I’d do it in a second. But I might not be sane. ;)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZQQHFALPFRHBQSSMLDGW4OBPME Alfred C

I think Kelly looks amazing. This was an event for her father, who will probably have his picture posted next to the definition of fuckin’ nuts until the end of time, which made this dress perfect for Kelly to wear. Its strange, odd, even a little ugly but Kelly makes it look super chic and stylish. WERQ!

  • Alyson Lamble

The shoes are great, but even having scaled back a metric ton worth of foofaraw from the original design, that dress is way too busy.  And the shoulders are terribly unflattering.

  • http://twitter.com/HotMessHousWife Sammi M

She’s so fabulous, and has killer legs. I love her transition the last few years into such a stylish girl. WERQ, child.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=6416893 Jenna Kuhmann

I saw the picture and thought “That is the perfect outfit to wear to a movie screening about Ozzy.”  And I love her shoes too!

  • muzan-e

Absolutely and unbelievably perfect for her – and she’s maybe the one woman in history who’s made the right choice by pairing rhinestone shoes with a mini. Astonishing, and I would love an hour with whoever’s doing hair and makeup: they have her running the fine line between sleek, youthful and independent.  Gorgeous!

  • Phillip Wilde

Kelly’s version is more form-fitting at the waist, seems to have more volume at the shoulder, and has lost that funky collar and godawful fringe/feathers/whateverthehellthatis.  And yes, Kelly looks fabulous in this.  WERQ!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1303837450 Lauren Dorsee Dillon

It’s a little (lot) anime Ninja warrior and that’s okay. It’s fits the occasion. But why does Kelly look unhappy and uncomfortable?

The dress does amazing things for her figure, and she styled it perfectly. I think she looks incredible.

  • Anonymous

perfect fit? how can she move her legs? the skirt looks taped on–tight I mean really really tight–I think she cheapened the look by making it so short and tight.    could have been fab.

  • Anonymous

Never noticed before or else can’t remember noticing, but she has sexy Jessica Rabbit legs.  Good for her.

  • http://aimeewrites.com AimeeWrites

    She looks awesome!

  • aussiegal77

Love her legs in this dress!  Although I have to say it’s looking like it’s a tad tight?  Never mind – it’s still a fab look on her.  The shoes are excellent, her hair and make-up suitably toned down to play up the loud dress.  This WERQs for me on all levels!

  • Anonymous

Awful dress, awful shoes, and the woman needs the phone number of a tattoo removal expert.  And why does she have spiders on her eyes?

It constantly amazes me that people who know they are going to be photographed leave the house looking like this.

    • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

Hmm? You may not like the look, but she looks very put together–and the commentariat seems to be in agreement on that! Your comment makes it sound as if she rushed out of the house with slippers still on and toilet paper stuck to her shoes.

I think she looks great. Almost all of us do!

    Damn right, she looks great.

This looks awesome!!  I love it.  The pattern of the red carpet dress is much more refined/detailed than the runway one, bringing it down a bit while still looking on the fabulous side of cray-cray.  And those shoes are magical (I hate most celebs’ shoes).

  • Anonymous

I agree with your opinion that much of the commentariat will NOT like this.

I do not like this. It recalls sad polyester print “work” dresses one tries on and rejects in the dressing room.

And the top half makes her look chunky. She’s no airy sprite of a girl, but she’s worn more flattering dresses.

  • Anonymous

Snaps for Kelly – she looks great!   And I suspect that she really stands out in a sea of blah starlets with nude shoes.

  • Anonymous

she was wise to keep her hair and jewelry simple.  the nifty ring draws attention to something – is that a burn?  on her knuckle.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Perfect for her, perfect for the event.  She’s got amazing legs, so it was a great choice – but how much fun would it have been to see those tights on her?

  • Anonymous

… And you gave her a werq over Zoe Saldana ?
Sure it certainly makes an impact and she has the attitude to pull that dress of but the dress seems to stretch at its limits and the proportions seems off between the sleeves and the skirt.

The original version looks stunning, but it wouldn’t have worked on Kelly Osbourne. So she made the smart choice in tweaking the outfit.
For me it’s an In and not a work.

It is an amazingly great dress.  Like you, I am not quite sure how she or her gays turned that mess on the runway into something this cool, but somehow s/he did it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/trashilove { edi } ilovetrash

i like her, i like her father, i like her dress–good that they took the stripper twirlers off of it, better had they taken in the sleeves–i LOVE her shoes–> but the very best thing, the very best of bestest best thing of all is the foundation for which the event took place, musicares. really wonderful people, really wonderful foundation. i cannot sing their praises highly enough.

  • Anonymous

No arguments from me.  Dress if FABULOUS, and I love that her shoes match her tattoo.  I had to scroll down to see that the jewell on top of her foot wasn’t a jewel.

  • Anonymous

Love it so much, and am kind of obsessing about whether she’s wearing hose or has airbrushed legs or what. I am guessing the latter. It’s so nice to see skin that hasn’t been sprayed to Ooompa Loompa orange.

I agree also.  Fabulous!  Hair and makeup are perfect.  The dress couldn’t be more perfect for her.  Shoes are to die for.  WERQ and IN!

She looks awesome, and she tamed the model look (which I’m also in love with) without muting the designers style. Is she actually learning things from Joan Rivers?

This is kind of tacky. But I’m biased against the paring of turquoise and hot pick. I don’t think it looks good on anyone.
