In or Out: Garcelle Beauvais

Posted on August 11, 2011

We saw this one yesterday while working in the T Lo Cave using the T Lo Fabulosity Scanner to find pictures of the stars of “The Help” on the RC. “Put a pin in that,” we said in our best Valerie Cherish voice, “We’re definitely going to want to talk about that one later.”

And lo, later has come. Well-schooled minions will scroll down and instantly see why we wanted to talk about this one. It pushes a lot of T Lo buttons.

Namely, the two buttons labeled “More Color on the Red Carpet” and “Ladies Should Look into LadyPants for the Red Carpet More Often.” They’re really big buttons.

This, for us, is a total Monet of an outfit. When we saw it in thumbnail, tiny gay gasps escaped our lips, but the minute we saw it in detail, the needle on the fab-u-meter started dropping rapidly. Initial kudos for the color and the pants, but the former isn’t working and the latter doesn’t fit.

Bright, colorful separates are IN in a big way, but these particular shades of yellow and blue look awfully harsh next to each other. A paler yellow and a more aquamarine blue would be right in line with current trends and look a lot softer and prettier on her. No matter the color choices, you just can’t escape the really bad fit on those pants. They’re too high on her waist and too tight across her hips. It doesn’t help that she obviously shoved her hands in them a couple of times, stretching them out. Nothing says “My pants are too tight” better than hips with fabric ears.

Then there’s the rather unfortunate length, which makes them look like pajama bottoms. Picture this in the colors we suggested, the pants perfectly tailored and stopping just at the ankle, letting the world see a kickass shoe. It could have been perfect. Except for the accessories, of course. We actually like everything she’s sporting: necklace, belt, clutch and ring. We just think they’re all too loud for an already-loud outfit. For us, this was a total couldabin.

VOTE NOW!

IN! Chic, colorful and bold! J’ADORE!

OUT! She looks like a banner at a high school football game.

Miss Anne Hathaway and her dingy pillowcase dress got a very stern talking-to by the bitter kittens, the majority of whom voted her OUT.
