DSquared2 Resort 2012 Menswear Collection

Posted on August 17, 2011

Today’s end-of-the-day pretty is very simple: cute boys in little shorts and bright clothes, a.k.a., the DSquared2 resort collection for men. J’adore. We love all the sporty, colorful mixing and matching going on. Lorenzo’s in hue heaven right now and keeps pawing at his monitor and whining. Tom would take just about any one of the shoe designs on display but wouldn’t say no to a big imaginary box containing all of them.

What an adorable little collection of precious rainbow boys. Be the first on your block to collect them all!

Y’know, just *yesterday* I was complaining that a dress I want to order from a catalog only came in these colors. Now I’m rethinking it because I rather like these combinations.

Hate the dropped crotch, not a fan of short shorts because *anyone* is allowed to wear them.  Having said that, I think it’s a great lesson for guys to see that they can wear “bolder” colors and not look like a float in a parade.

      • Aly Light

Yeah, is the dropped crotch a thing now? Is the point to accommodate the particularly well-endowed?

Fun, throwaway pieces but hardly worth the designer pricetags. A quick trip to H&M would yield similar results.

That’s exactly what I was thinking – no way in hell I’d pay those $$ for this crap

The shorts are cute, and reveal the thigh, which TLo have opined is the best-preserved and least-revealed older male body region.

However, the thighs on display here are disconcertingly toothpicky, making me wonder how these would fit on my more generous proportions.

Thank you.  Cute colorful clothes that (mostly) look like real people would actually wear is a great way to end the day.

i really like all the orange shoes but the very first pair are the best.

That orange jacket in the second row would work for a woman, no? I love it

Meh.  Where’s the real design here?

I see guys dressed just like this walking down the street all the time and I’m certian they spent  a fraction of what this costs.

      • Anonymous

But, it’s like they say down at the sexclub- There’s a market for everything.

“I see guys dressed just like this walking down the street all the time.”  Wherever you’re living, I want to live there!  In the Major American City I just moved from after 25 years, I never saw guys walking around looking all colorful and put-together like this. Lots of baggy shorts, lots of flip-flops with dirty and/or moldy toenails, lots of sports regalia.

Still, I see your point about “Where’s the design?” Some of this looks more like a good styling exercise than a collection. But I love all the color–wish more white guys would wear color; African-American guys tend to add more color to their wardrobes, and boy, do they look good!

Two things I’d like to see go away.  Forever. 1. Baseball caps. Please. God. I’ll be good if only…!  2. Advertising shirts.

Up where I live I do see guys everyday wearing watered-down versions of these looks via H&M and 21Men.

Granted, none of them are even remotely as perfectly flawless as the models.

Last row: short shorts for men! Woah!

Love these looks. I sometimes get a bit of boot envy when I see boots like these. I would love a pair to rock with jeans in the fall.

Tom, I so approve of your taste in shoes. Orange, green, YES! Too bad the hubs dresses soooo conservatively. It’s as effective as Ambien. But that’s okay, he’s still a keeper.

I love all the shoes–but I can’t say I love cuffed denim shorts with thigh pockets. Tell me cut-offs aren’t soon to follow!

Also, scottyf is my new pretend boyfriend: wit and taste in one package! *swoon*

What’s with all the posing with hands in pockets? 14 out of the 21 photos seems a little much.

I’m salivating! That’s what you’re supposed to look like guys! But then again, if you did, I wouldn’t get anything done…

    • Anonymous

one percent right about all the shoes.

    • Anonymous

Pleasant presentation & styling, they mostly look like real guys except better.  And, when you can see them, WAY more excessively sculpted abs. Don’t love the look of elongated torsos over shorts, but otherwise it’s a pleasant assortment of clothes and fellas. (Just came back from tourist-ing for a few days in a town with a significant military presence. Must say the people watching came with a statistically unlikely number of impressive young men, though mostly traveling in beer-seeking pods.)

I dunno, looks like expensive slob clothes for guys tired of the preppy look, but some of those shoes are quite fetching. But more color in menswear is always good.

I want some Rainbow Bright on my block!

    • Anonymous

I will go up there and bitchslap them both personally if they accomplish making trucker hats a thing again.

    • Anonymous

      One of each, please!

The shorts look good on these lovelies, but I can not imagine them on most of the men I know.  Of course, just like women’s shorts, I think the person buying them should have a good grasp of what his or her body shape is before they buy.  The crotches on some of the pants are weird.  But I love the tops and the combinations.  And the shoes.

My ideal man would dress like this. Does this mean my ideal man is gay and/or Kanye?

    • Judy_J

      Very nice.  Love the colors!

I’d like to see their daddies, oh yeah, the clothes are pretty neat too.    I always like to see things that I would actually wear although mine are the  Target knock offs.

are those blue shiny pants bathing suit pants?

    • Danny Maza

LOL at the bathing suit with the chilean flag xD

    • http://www.facebook.com/john.oconnell89 John O’Connell

How can their skinny little legs hold up their big pouty lips in those shorts? Don’t they need the extra support of fabric around their knees? I’m concerned they’ll snap in half.
