Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry Fall 2011 Collection
Well, this is kind of depressing. Amy Winehouse had an ongoing collaboration with Fred Perry to produce womenswear based on her personal style. You can see the previous collection here, modeled by Amy herself. In the wake of her death, Fred Perry has decided to continue with the release of the fall 2011 collection:
“After much consideration and with the blessing of Amy’s family, we have decided to release the AW11 Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry collection. Amy was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece. In such circumstances, the usual royalties and fees from the collection will be donated to the soon to be established Amy Winehouse Foundation.”
Like the previous collection, it’s an extremely well done interpretation of Amy’s signature style, but toned down and upmarket for the masses; a sort of preppy-meets-rockabilly vibe. And if that doesn’t sound like Amy Winehouse to you, scroll down. It’s kind of hard not to see her influence all over this collection, but in the wake of her death, there’s this feeling of “This is how Amy would have looked if she’d cleaned up her act. ” Still, we don’t fault them for going ahead and releasing the collection. Let it serve as a tribute and a continuation of her unique personal style.
