Red Carpet Rundown: Comic-Con, Part 2

Posted on July 25, 2011

Let’s check in again and see how the ladies did in their efforts to navigate the sea of nerdery in San Diego.

Freida Pinto attends ‘Immortals’ Press Line during Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego.

Michael Kors Resort 2012 Collection

See, that’s the thing about “this collection was inspired by scuba wear.” It’s all witty and exciting when it walks a runway, but the minute its worn out in the real world, all people are gonna think is , well, that the dress looks like scuba wear. And is that really a compliment?

Anna Paquin speaks at HBO’s ‘True Blood’ Panel during Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego.

Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2011 Collection

That’s about right for Comic-Con. If you haven’t made a room ful of nerds even sweatier, then you haven’t done your job.

The shoes are too heavy.

Ashley Tisdale promotes her show “Phineas and Ferb” during Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego.

Lucca Couture ZigZag Strapless Dress

Cute and also very Comic-Con appropriate. Could have used a little contrasting color on the shoes, but the dress is nice and graphic, as well as relatively comfortable-looking.

Kate Beckinsale attends The Drive-In Panel during Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego.

Tibi Spring 2011 Collection

Black seems wrong somehow. Maybe if she was wearing a Batgirl mask. That would be both thematically appropriate and have the added bonus of obscuring the fact that her extensions are a totally different color from her own hair.

Ginnifer Goodwin attends “Phineas and Ferb” Panel during Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego.

Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2011 Collection

Sweet Jesus on a breadstick. WHAT the hell is going ON here? Why does this look nothing like the cute little mini-dress with the flared skirt it started out as? Why is it all so horribly … askew? Why does her bizarre belt makes us think of the door handles on a neon yellow side-by-side refrigerator? With hair growing out of it? Most perplexing of all, why does she look so pleased with herself? Is she drunk?

We look at those nude pumps paired with this dress and just want to weep. What hath you wrought, Hollywood stylists? Are you happy now?
