WERQ: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Antonio Berardi

Posted on June 29, 2011

Okay, we’re getting a little repetitive with our coverage of this chick, but when was the last time someone made such a splash on a succession of red carpets? Always go through life like you’re here to pick up your Oscar, we say.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attends the New York premiere of “Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon” in Times Square on June 28, 2011 in New York City.

Antonio Berardi Fall 2011 Collection/Model: Basia S.

Sure, it’s totally Jessica Rabbit, and thus, not the most interesting look in the world, but we defy anyone to tell us that gal ain’t WERQing it.

Although… nude shoes, honey? Really? Tsk.

Hmmm I don’t know. If you’re wearing such a fancy dress, I don’t think your boobs should look pointy, and your belly button shouldn’t show (or any kind of belly button-like indent). Makeup beautiful, necklace kind of odd (looks a little too tight around the neck).

      • Anonymous

I agree. The seams don’t work as well on her as they did the model. But damn she does look good and makeup perfect.

      • Emily Giovanni

I suppose I am just being nit-picky and bitchy. Of course she looks beautiful. I just hate to see WERQ deployed in any kind of willy-nilly fashion.

I’m just worried that bunny’s gonna peek out of its hole, so to speak. That slit’s a wee bit high. Can’t knock anything else though – fits like a glove!

    • Anonymous

Jessica Rabbit, indeed. I wonder whose idea it was for Ro’ to wear nude shoes with that shade of red? Blech! However, the acid-green on the model aren’t that much better.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=37300827 Johnny Heffernan

I love the green shoes! And unusual colour combinations should be encouraged.

        • Anonymous

Look at the green shoe on the model’s back leg — it’s glow in the dark!

    • Anonymous

Good God, she’s been on a hot streak.  Have you found any pics of her looking bad lately?

    • Anonymous

Every girl should channel Jessica Rabbit once in a while.
      She’s WERQing it! IN!!

    • Anonymous

At least they aren’t nude platform pumps.  There might be some issues with the fit (her hipbones are really jutting out) but she looks good and she knows it.  Plus, she doesn’t look like a hooker or like she stopped in on her way to the grocery.

    • Anonymous

Rosie’s totally WERQing it…and getting herself some attention and publicity in the process.  The nude shoes aren’t bugging me here…the dress and her lips are the focus.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I appreciate the Jessica Rabbit-ness of it all.  She’s the sex symbol in a summer blockbuster — embrace it!  The only way to make Transformers fans happier would involve looking tacky, tasteless, and in danger of breaking obscenity laws, so good for her for finding a way to make the image work without being vulgar:)

      • http://profiles.google.com/singingraisin ali meowmeow

        Totally this.
It might be another matter if she were trying to sell a Serious Actress Film, but this a freaking Michael Bay movie. The simple virtue of not throwing herself around as Megan Fox 2.0 is admirable, but she’s managed to be stylish about it, too. I mean, there are way less interesting Jessica Rabbit dresses she could have gone with, but this one actually has a bit of interest. Well done, action movie chick! Other actresses should take notes!

… And then bitchily diss your shoes behind your back.

    • Anonymous

The dress seems a little overdone. I don’t know if it deserves a WERQ.

    • Courtney Hellams

i hate the shape of the dress. what girl (other than madonna, i suppose) wants her chest to look like triangles?

    • Anonymous

This girl has a real Stepford quality to her. Like her face and body are composites of all features that are considered pleasing. Is it possible that she’s a robot or an alien?

    • Anonymous

the bodice is pointy, the slit is tacky, and the shoes are fugly. Nope, she’s out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1550881905 Hildegerd Haugen

      Very good!!

    • Anonymous

the whole thing looks like it’s sitting too low on her torso–although, to be perfectly honest, if she pulled the dress up any more the top of the slit would be in REALLY dangerous territory.  I don’t like the pointy breasts, I don’t like the seaming, and I don’t like how it fits across the hips.  I think it sorta looks like the top half of Wonder Woman’s getup, with a skirt attached.  The shoes are weird (although not nearly as weird as the neon lime ones in the model’s photo) and the choker looks like it’s….well….choking her.  Attitude: she’s got it in spades.  Does it make up for the many oddities of the dress and the accessories?  In my mind, no.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jcc0808 Joseph Collier

I think she is beautiful and I think the nude shoe may have been a good choice.  The dress is very vibrant and attention getting… wearing red would seem too matchy and wearing black would have taken the dress to a different level.  The nude shoes disappear and makes the look all about the dress.  To those who complain about her dressing to the nines for a Michael Bay film… this is her FIRST movie and she was replacing someone who most men fantasize about in the franchise.  She is celebrating her first film and showing that she is just as good if not better than Megan Fox and she’s doing it perfectly.

    • Anonymous

It’s disturbing that I can see her hip bones through the dress.

      • Anonymous

        and the model’s.

    • Judy_J

Whoever is dressing her has been doing a damn fine job lately.

Appropriate to [her role in] the movie she’s flogging.  I don’t love the long stretch of bareness from top of dress to shoulder, it gives the impression the dress is just barely clinging to the ski slope.  Gives me a twitchy feeling. Better if she’d filled in with a statement necklace.

And I prefer the nude shoes to the shade of green on the model. But I tend toward the matchy-matchy, so I could be wrong.

I’m ready for her to change her hair do. (Alternating which shoulder the long loose waves cover does not count.) Other than that, her perfect good looks, excellent modeling skills, and natural elegance are a pleasure to watch.

      • margaret meyers

I feel the same way about Cathy Cambridge.  Hair that long starts to limit what you do with it, and I’m getting tired of seeing her long brown hair falling in tendrils down her back.  We’ve seen it.

        • Anonymous

Yeah, but in both cases, (well, definitely here, probably with CC and the FutureKingofEngland) I think the point is to appeal to one or more heterosexual males. I’ve had, and cut, (and considered but did not cut) long hair several times in my life. Right up through the last time (at nearly 50) I have intentionally polled male friends as well as female on the decision. Unanimously, every time, any heterosexual male that could by any stretch of the imagination be a potential partner (as in, say, last two people on earth) voted for the long hair.

Beautiful. But she looks like a model. Nothing more.

      • Anonymous

Agreed.  I suppose since she hasn’t yet proven to be interesting, I can’t find what she is wearing to be terribly interesting.

What “more” is she supposed to look like?

        • Anonymous

just show a personality, I think.

It’s like porn – can’t define it, but you know it when you see it.

    • Christine Marie

Yeah she’s hot but why have you still not done that post about Christina Hendricks for Lucky Magazine? I am an impatient bitter kitten.

    • Anonymous

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: DAMN, GURL.

    • MilaXX

I ain’t mad at her. She’s looking good.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QCJEZMOV4VYMXC5WJALLZNYEB4 Mari Rose

The seaming on that dress is terrible. If it makes RHW look hippy, just imagine what it would do to a real woman.

    • Anonymous

She’s a model; she looks great in clothes. This isn’t a WERQ for me. It’s a “yea, she’s pretty in that kind of weird dress.”

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=513945580 Megan Patterson

Jessica Rabbit IF SHE WERE PART TRANSFORMER

    • http://twitter.com/Stevesotherhalf Svanhild Salmons

Yeah, those shoes would work so much better if they were a hot shade of pink.

    • Mariah J

I was looking for sensible cheap shoes for work the other day in a department store and I found myself trying on and almost buying nude pumps until I suddenly came to my senses. WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO ME?!?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

Wow, not a fan of hers, but this dress and color are fabulous on her!

    • margaret meyers

I’m getting an Automobile Show vibe.  Where’s the Fiat 500?

    • Anonymous

“Okay, we’re getting a little repetitive with our coverage of this chick, but when was the last time someone made such a splash on a succession of red carpets?” I distinctly remember Cameron Diaz getting 2 WERQs in a row recently.

      • Anonymous

        … and deserving them!

    • Anonymous

She looks great, of course, but I liked her previous looks that you featured better than this one.

    • Anonymous

nope, not for me. this falls kinda flat actually ~ the seaming is weird on her and she didn’t even TRY with those accessories … plus, i object to 2 WERQ posts in a week (i think) for a working model. seems unfair, sorry.

    • Anonymous

I bet all those teenage boys will be saying “Megan Who?” by the time Rosie is done promoting this movie.

Good for her. She looks great.

    • Anonymous

Wow. A model looks good in an expensive, skin-tight dress. Who would have thought?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Catherine-Rhodes/602850414 Catherine Rhodes

Love the dress. Love the nude shoes. Love the fact that she’s putting forth the effort to bring it, even if it is a dumb movie.

    • Anonymous

It’s a glamorous dress (even if it is RED…see posts from the other day re:red dresses in June). She’s tall thin and gorgeous. It’s RC. But yeah, the nude pumps….PLEASE….NO MORE NUDE PUMPS…!! I also like the bright green shoes on the runway model. Shows some imagination.

    • Lisa

      GORGE!!!  Love it!

    • Anonymous

Isn’t she a model? I guess she should work it!

    • Anonymous

This gal has been working the red carpet like the Oscars, she certainly knows how to be a moviestar.

    • Grace Ritt

She’s number one of the Maxim hot 100, she basically is Jessica Rabbit.

    • Anonymous

Again with the self-conscious posing.  She makes me feel like she’s uncomfortable and trying really hard not to look it.

Strappy silver shoes would have been better.

    • Anonymous

In her mind she’s praticing her Oscar acceptance speech in her fabu red dress.  In reality she knows she’ll probably never win an Oscar, especially for Transformers.

Again, I give her kudos for working the red carpet within a inch of her life.  Why not?

    • Anonymous

And again, one objectively ugly-ish dress that she manages to look fantastic in. I had to look carefully to actually notice that yes, the seaming isn’t pretty, pointy boobs shouldn’t look good, and the fit is not perfect, because at first sight it was WERQ and then some. And when I did notice, it just added to her WERQ.
She’s beating Megan Fox’s into pulp and she knows it, and hasn’t once dipped into tacky. How the hell do you manage that after you showed up in a form fitting glittery red dress with a slit that almost showcases the good china is a mystery, but good for her.

      • http://twitter.com/kmc1138 Kathleen Coyle

“the good china” = my new very favorite euphamism.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

Jessica Rabbit would NEVER wear nude shoes! Everyone should remember that!

    • Anonymous

When you boys started featuring this woman every damn day I thought “she looks more like a Victoria’s Secret model than an actress”, so I googled her and guess what?  She is.  I think it’s a little unfair to compare a model modeling clothes to an actress modeling clothes, but she really does look fabulous.

I hate this bitch. Not only is she genetically superior and clothed in the world’s finest garments, she gets to sleep with Jason Statham. JEALOUS.

    • Anonymous

Now, you see I LIKE the seaming. It’s what elevates the dress from dull strapless dress to interesting! I never understand this wish to strip every bit of interest from things. I do think it should’ve had some inner corselette structure to nip her waist and prevent the belly button show through. It’s clearly thin fabric and any other mortal with the slightest bump of flesh will look awful in it. That’s a fail on the designer. And slim, fit girls tend to have straight waists. For a va va voom dress like that you need to find some curve with some structure.
Any other complaint would be nit-picky. She’s had a near faultless run of red carpets. The shoes are fine, any other colour would’ve looked bad. Downplaying everything else was the right move as it wouldn’t take much to take that dress over the line into tacky.

    • foodycat

If she has to sit down in that dress I hope she has a purse or something to hold over her lap for a bit of modesty.

    • Anonymous

      Three words: the good china.

    • Anonymous

Nude is better than the lime green on the model IMO.

    • Anonymous

Armani Prive rip-off dress?  I dunno.  I’m usually a sucker for a red dress but this one isn’t doing it for me, not enough VOOM to follow the va-va.  plus, nude shoes?  Not a WERQ moment for me….  Lovely girl, though.

    • Amanda in Austin

Major points deducted for the shoes. Seriously.

Get the shoes in a different color and this would be FLAWLESS. Yeah, it’s totally Jessica Rabbit, but it’s modern and sexy. She has this air of being a femme fatale, a little bit dangerous but irresistible.

    • http://twitter.com/rachelruthlee Rachel Lee

Don’t like the necklace, and the fabric looks a little… cheap to be honest.

    • Shawn Hill

I’m not sure if those panels on the dress are flattering or not; they’re definitely curvy, and the dress looks well made.
