Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on June 24, 2011

Darlings, certain outfits appearing on red carpets this week didn’t rate posts of their own. Let’s judge them anyway!

Anne Hathaway attends The 13th Annual White Tie & Tiara Ball in Prada.

This is NOT working for us. The color blocking is strange and that pale pink doesn’t suit her. Also, hello tits! Let’s wrap you up in a tiny little bow!

Eva Mendes reveals her new campaign for Angel by Thierry Mugler in New York City in a Thierry Mugler gown.

Interesting dress, but the skirt’s awfully stiff-looking and the color doesn’t really suit her.

Amber Rose attends the Radioshack’s HTC EVO 3D launch party in West Hollywood.

Ellie Mae Phuckett.

Lady Gaga attends the MTV Video Music Aid Japan Press Conference.

We don’t get it. Is she supposed to be the patron saint of tea or something?

Kirstie Alley attends the Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award and Young Americans’ Challenge Benefit Gala in New York City.

It (mostly) fits her, which is a step in the right direction. The color, however, is SO not right for her.

Selena Gomez attends the “Monte Carlo” screening in New York City in J. Mendel.

Pretty, if a little bland.

Amber Heard attends Tasya Van Ree’s private viewing of “Distorted Delicacies” in New York City in an Amanda Wakeley dress.

Its pretty sharp, but it doesn’t seem to fit her as well as it should.

Sienna Miller attends The Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Party at the Ralph Lauren store in London in Ralph Lauren.

Laura Ingalls Wildchild.

Andie MacDowell attends the “Monte Carlo” screening in New York City.

Doesn’t really seem like the right style for her, but she looks like she wants to kick our asses so we’ll leave it there.

Isn’t it time for a haircut, honey? *runs*

Diane Kruger attends the amfAR Inspiration Gala at Pavillon Gabriel in Paris in Yves Saint Laurent.

Nice to see her in such a striking color, but this dress looks too big on her.

  • Look at the woman behind Sienna Miller…AWESOME!

    • Anonymous

      I know, right? Priceless!

    • Anonymous

I know – like did Sienna forget it was day 2 of her period or something? Or did the woman just not like her shoes?

      • Anonymous

That’s the exact same look I had when I saw Sienna’s skeletal knee……

        • Allyson Wells

My thoughts exactly! What is up with her knees?? Looks like she’s trying to hide them with that pose… can’t blame her though!

    • first thing i noticed…AWKWARD!

    • Anonymous

The woman behind Sienna Miller does not appear to be looking at Sienna Miller.  Look closer.

A variety of poor choices.  I want to like the Prada dress on Anne but I can’t.  I really want to like Kirstie’s dress but again, the color.  However, i have to say she looks great, esp. for 60.  And I love her, she entertains me to no end.  The rest, bleh.  Oh, and Andie, get a hair cut.  (running with T & Lo FAST!)

    • Kirstie looks fabulous for 60!

      • margaret meyers

Yeah but… like Andie MacDowell, she needs to embrace aspects of 60 she is not accepting.

  • Anonymous

oh Gaga enough with the Herman Munster shoes, i am praying for an ass plant every time i see her now….

    • Anonymous

Yep, I hate those huge tall shoes. Every time I look at her I just instantly get a mental image of a Misery-style ankle accident.

    • Anonymous

That tea cup isn’t going to last for long when she trips over those ugly ugly shoes.

  • Anonymous

I thought Annie was nekkid from the ugly waist bow down.

  • Anonymous

Kirstie, your time is definitely up! Color, no, fit, not really and I suppose you’re gonna tell us it’s a size 6. Sorry honey, I’m not as tall as you but I’m definitely your shape and size 6 isn’t it! Glad you’re out of muumuus and glad you’re in better shape than a while back, but no, honey you are NOT a size 6–not even close!

    • Anonymous

Not only is the color choice unfortunate, but she needs to get back toward her natural hair color.  That blonde-yellow doesn’t flatter her skin.

      • Anonymous

        Yep, you’re so right.

    Laura Ingalls Wildchild

*after much laughter* God, you guys are good…

In a weeks’ time, incidentally, LDCR Mayhem, the two wee Mayhem boys and myself set out on our eastern odyssey taking in: Vegas; the Four Corners; Monument Valley; Little Bighorn; Devil’s Tower; Mount Rushmore; Crazy Horse; De Smet, SD; Pepin, WI; Milwaukee; Traverse City, MI and Punxatawny, PA before we reach NoVa.  De Smet and Pepin being relevant to the mention of Laura Ingalls Wilder, of course…

I predict radio silence for a few weeks, I’ll have to play catch up with all your posts when we get where we’re going, love you loads!

    • Anonymous

Enjoy all that togetherness & “memory making.” We’ll miss you around here!

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Thanks fA, I’m going to miss all you guys too!

        • Anonymous

We did Wyoming/SD last summer, and my teen boys want to do it again!  Just be forewarned–SD has no vegetables!  Safe travels!

    • MilaXX

      What a trek! Have fun.

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Thanks MilaXX.  It was all going to be even longer as I wanted to see Tombstone, AZ but that ended up being too far out of the way of everything else.  I’m ridiculously excited about seeing Devil’s Tower (confirmed scifi nerd that I am!). See you in TLounge soon for a few bevvies.

    • Anonymous

Girrrl, you are going to have to work hard to catch up with the boys when you get back.  Enjoy the Big Sky!

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Back when I first found the blog I spent a whole week reading everything so it’s going to be deja vu all over again to catch up once more!

    • Anonymous

Oh, the 4 Corners and Monument Valley are soothing antidotes to Las Vegas–enjoy!  We did a full moon midnight guided tour at Mnt. Valley, and it was spectacular photo ops.  Sadly, though, even it’s gotten touristy–we used to go 20 years ago when it was little known, except among John Wayne movie buffs.  Enjoy the trip!

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Yup, you can chalk me up as a John Ford/John Wayne western buff though I’ll admit to a wee extra frisson of excitement since the Doctor Who crew filmed there!

Vegas was LCDR Mayhem’s choice, we’re staying at Treasure Island because he wants the boys to see the pirate ship battle.  Apparently the show used to be set in Revolutionary times with a US ship sinking a British frigate….  hmm – I’ve glad they’ve updated it, I’d’ve had to join in on the Brits’ side.

Ellie Mae Phuckett. How much to I love T & Lo?

  • Anonymous

    Andie MacDowell never ages.

    • margaret meyers

Hmmmm.  She’s only 53 and I thought she was 60, like Kirstie.  She would look younger and better if she made some changes.  53 is too old for this girlish look.  She’s got a great body and beautiful legs: a more sophisticated look would serve her better.

I’m tired of seeing Sienna Miller in white/cream with black shoeboots.  I wish Nellie Olson would kick her ass.

That colorblocked monstrosity Anne Hathaway is wearing makes her look like she’s one of the candles that would drip in multi-colors from those mall candle stores they used to have.  What the hell were those stores?

    • Anonymous

      Wicks and Sticks??

  • What the hell, Anne Hathaway? Who dressed you?

I actually don’t mind Sienna Miller’s dress but the styling (the HAIR!) is awful.

  • Shocking misstep by AH.  Aside from the obvious flaws, what’s with the Cindy Lou Who train?

  • Michelle Prahl

I kind of love Kirsty’s dress. I think the color is great.

  • Andie MacDowell’s dress is by Girls of Savoy. It’s called The Gull Wing Dress on Anthropologie, but that colour is sold out now.

    • Love that she shops at Anthropologie!

  • Go Kirstie! I do think she looks amaZing, but everyone’s right…the color. I don’t think that anyone can pull off that color! Yay for looking great in every other aspect though. I heart her!

  • Anonymous

I’m struggling to figure out who would look good in that color that Kirstie Allen is in, if not the whole dress.

And I have to say, whatever combination of lifestyle, chemicals, surgery or sex that Andy McDowell is using, is certainly working for her. She looks terrific. And honey, you can keep your L’Oreal hair as long as you like.

  • Anonymous

I think it’s long past time Kirstie gave up the bad blond hair. She needs to either dye it a nice medium brown or go natural, which I’m guessing is at least salt-and-pepper if not totally grey.

    The dress, however, is fabulous.

    • Anonymous

I always thought she was much more striking as a brunette–coloring is just wrong for that generic Hollywood blonde thing.

  • Anonymous

Check out the woman behind Sienna Miller  —  “Bitch needs a meal.”

The problem with the color of Kirstie’s dress is her hair color.

Makes me nauseous to bring it up, but Anne Hathaway’s dress . . .  oof.

  • Anonymous

Going against the grain, here, to say that I like Anne Hathaway’s dress.  Her, you know, tits (hate that word) are gorgeous – why the hell not show them off?  –and I think the color blocking and wee ribbons are interesting, just edgy enough.  To the poster who referenced Cindy Lou Who – love it!

  • taking into account that amber rose is attending no less than a green carpet event @ radio shack, she still is the only quasi-demi-hemi-celeb i’ve ever seen appear w/ visible cellulite @ anything!

    • margaret meyers

I guess you CAN wear a romper, a bad spray tan and cellulite to a Radio Shack event.

  • Anonymous

    SO upset about Diane Kruger!!

one size down and she would be the most amazing thing since the last time she went out in public looking amazing. I love her and I hate her stylist for not saying “It looks like you borrowed it from your big sister”

    • margaret meyers

And wouldn’t it have been nice to see this with something other than Olive Oyl hair? That is just not evening gown hair.

  • MilaXX

So many also rans.  Sienna looks horrible, Kirstie’s fit well, but I don;t like the color on her. I like Annie’s dress, but not on her.

  • MilaXX

So many also rans.  Sienna looks horrible, Kirstie’s fit well, but I don;t like the color on her. I like Annie’s dress, but not on her.

  • Anonymous

Amber Rose: clever, making a romper out of a tablecloth from Wal-Mart.

  • Anonymous

    “Laura Ingalls Wildchild” – ha!

A little overwhelming or no, I still think Diane Kruger wins, though in theory I favor Ms. Heard’s dress and I think Ms. Mendes is stiff competition.

The condition of Ms. Alley’s hair is the worst thing – the dress color is runner up. But she’s looking better than she did for quite a while, so props to her.

Andie MacDowell could maybe get away with either a sundress style dress or a hair style that seems, well, I won’t say “too young” I’ll say “too unsophisticated” – but not both. Nonetheless, she looks amazing. She’s been 30-some-and-holding for what? 15 or 20 years now?

  • Anonymous

Sienna Miller’s knees will feature in tonight’s nightmare.

  • Miss Andrea Chapman

Andie MacDowell’s dress looks EXACTLY like a dress I wanted to buy from Anthropologie (see: except hers has the addition of a white trim on the lower hem.

  • EVA mendez look good

    • On Eva though, isn’t there visible nipple?  Nice dress, though.  More tape needed. 🙂

  • Anonymous

I like Anne Hathaway’s dress, although I’ll give you that the colour isn’t the best on her. Love the bodice shape on Eva Mendes’ dress.

  • Kirstie must have dropped at least 30 lbs from being on DWTS, I hope she does a Kelly Osborne and keeps it off

  • Lisa

We’ve been tossed into  a world where Kirstie Alley looks better than Ann Hathaway – what the hell happened?

  • Anonymous

Laura Ingalls Wildchild is my favorite. The rest are either standard issue dress #6, or horrid.

  • Anonymous

The colour of the top of Anne Hathaway’s dress suits her brilliantly. The titbow is discreet enough for me to like it.

  • Anonymous

Andie looks terrific in that dress. Her hair, on the other hand… If she brought it up just a few inches, so it sweeps against her shoulders, it would look great. *Refuses to be intimidated by Andie McDowell. Runs after her with scissors.*

No one could pull off Anne’s dress. I will never understand why women worship at the Altar of Prada.

There are no words to describe how bad Sienna Miller looks.

Selena, as always, looks adorable. I love that she hasn’t gone the stripper route. Her peers could take a lesson or ten from her.

  • Judy_J

    “Ellie Mae Phuckett”… it!

  • Oy, this was the first thing I saw this morning.  A whole lotta ill-fitting fuggery.

  • Wow, Annie, that is BAD. The red in the back looks like a cape. The front looks like a nightgown. Her hair looks like crap. The sum total is “Sleepwalking Superhero”.

  • Anonymous

Hair wise, Andie McDowell seems to suffer from the same affliction as Kristin Davis.

  • Anonymous

If the event your attending starts with the words ‘Radio Shack’ perhaps a re-think is in order.

  • Sienna Miller’s knees scare me 🙁

  • Anonymous

Eva Mendes, the face of Angel? Seriously???

And yes, Andie MacDowell, that dress is not your dress and it’s definitely time for a haircut. *runs and hides behind TLo*

    • Anonymous

Eva Mendes looks nothing like how Angel smells.

  • Andie MacDowell doesn’t age…except here, when she’s wearing a dress that’s too young for her.

  • Shawn Hill

Andie and Diane always have my heart. Rich Southern Casual and goddess, respectively.

  • Anne Hathaway is far to interesting, smart and beautiful to have to rock the practically nude actress angle she’s been rocking for the past year.  Put it away, indeed.  And can someone please tell me why on earth Sienna Miller is still relevant?  Nice ponytail.  No, really.
