Heidi Klum for Glamour Magazine

Posted on June 29, 2011

Frau Seal hauls herself back up on the publicity machine to poledance for Project Runway and proves that she’s still got it (as if there was any doubt).

Heidi Klum covers the August 2011 issue of Glamour magazine

On her critiques becoming harsher: “I don’t think so. But I do think that I’m more comfortable now than I was during the first few seasons. Now I’m more at ease. I see the designers and start singing this song [snapping along], ‘Another one bites the dust….’ I have more fun with it now.”

On keeping the show fresh: “It’s really about the specific designers…. Of course, some seasons are better than others. One thing that’s stayed the same is that we eat a lot of Cheetos! We all have orange hands, though you can’t really tell on Michael, because it blends in with his tan.”

On whether Tim Gunn ever gives her style advice: “He hasn’t. He’s so polite—he would never say, ‘Why are you wearing that?’ Michael [Kors] is a little bit more…well, he always jokes with me. He says that my skirts are really short. He calls it fallopian length. He teases me.”

On the longevity of Project Runway: “I’m going to be 80, walking with a stick down the runway.”

OUCH. That first quote is pretty bitchy.

Heidi’s capable of working a slightly narrow range of looks, but as she gets older, her ability to rock a pair of jeans seems to increase with each year. Cindy Crawford was the same way. She looked better in jeans at 40 than she did at 20. She’s also best working the mega-watt smile directly at the camera. The clothes are cute and she’s selling the hell out of everything (including herself), so it did it’s job. We have to admit, we’re jonesing for some Project Runway.

okay fallopian length is funny and true. I like this shoot. I wish this was the promo instead of her being nude.

      “Fallopian length”! Gold!

Jeans are for people with ass, which is not something a young model has.

HA. She’s hilarious. Fallopian length? Cheetos hands blending with Michael’s orange tan?
Photos look great. You’re right, she fills in those jeans very nicely. I
really like the second pic, with the floppy hat–her eye makeup doesn’t
      look as harsh–much more flattering.

I almost spit my (orange) soda out on my laptop when I read the Cheetos/Kors quote

Fortunately, I wasn’t eating or drinking when I read the comment, but I love it. Never been a big Heidi fan, but that comment may have turned me into one.

These pictures look more catalog than fashion.

      • Anonymous

        my thought exactly.

Now that you mentioned Cindy, I think Heidi is probably the closest thing to Cindy Crawford’s spiritual successor there is. Both are model-gorgeous women who may not have the widest range or the most unique features ever, but who have the personality and the attitude to make up for that. Back to the subject, I love this shoot.

Loved the comment about the Duchess! Hilariously bitchy!

Yes!  The last four shots, in particular!

I am not a fan of these white-background, denim-prevalent shoots in general, but she is making it work!

Damn, Heidi, you should wear jeans more often!  I just wish the cover shot didn’t have you with that weird grimace, since most of the other shots are so flattering.

Looks like some photo shopping to me, especially in the half-naked and jumpsuit photos.  A sad day, indeed, when Frau Seal gets subjected to the whittling treatment.

Cover shot as well. Frau Seal is carrying more meat on her bones these days than that picture shows.

“Heidi said: One thing that’s stayed the same is that we eat a lot of Cheetos! We all have orange hands, though you can’t really tell on Michael, because it blends in with his tan.””

      Perfect.

As for the Glamour cover, Heidi is so naturally gorgeous, that when she is photoshopped (the way she is here), it detracts from the way she really looks.

Love that 60′s sequin sweater, but I’m wondering how much STella McCartney is selling that sequin tank (which has been everywhere else for several seasons) for.

INC is actually selling a sequin tank in nice colors at a much more affordable price. And it actually looks pretty good.

        • Lisa

Thanks for the tip!  I really want that too, but I can’t afford Stella’s prices – off to Macy’s!

I lurv Heidi! Can I be her?

    • Anonymous

Damn she’s pretty, and her smile is knock-out.

She reminds me of several type A Germans I know – not that she’s trying to be mean, but diplomatic is not the first word that comes to mind.

“We all have orange hands, though you can’t really tell on Michael, because it blends in with his tan.”

I don’t know if she really is funny in real life, but I thought this was entertaining. And, after all, she has to get back at him for the fallopian length comments!  Somehow, I imagine her as someone who enjoys a practical joke.

      Cheetos! Bawahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Anonymous

These quotes are pure gold. One of the things I’ve always loved about Heidi is her sense of humor. She looks great in most of these images, but they do kinda scream catalog shoot. The Ralph Lauren jumpsuit gave me a high school flashback to one I had that looked just like it. And yeah, I, too, am seriously jonesin’ for me some PR.

    • Judy_J

I can’t wait to see Heidi at 80 trotting down the runway with her cane.

    • Anonymous

I love the orange fingers masked by  Kors’ tan.

    • Anonymous

I like the cover, but the last few shots remind me of a Butterick pattern book. The Cheetos comment has almost made me forgive her for the stupid naked promo poster. Almost.

I have to admit, I have not missed PR one tiny bit.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shawna.ready shawna ready

oooo I love those pink jeans!

    • Anonymous

The pic where her leg is kicking back is Tyra 101 all the way.  She just needs to work on her smizing.

    • Britt McCombs

Heidi, Nina and Michael always sound like they’re more interesting and are having more fun when they’re interviewed about the show and what goes on than they do on the show itself. Makes me sad.

    • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

I LOL-ed at the cheatos comment. Oh Heidi.

    • Anonymous

Anyone else think the PR poledancing smacks of desperation this season?  I think the double whammy of sub-par Lifetime producing and last season’s lousy judging gave the show a real hit, and now they’re trying to do damage control.

    • Anonymous

I think that cover shot is one of the worst pics I’ve ever seen of Heidi…it doesn’t look at all like her, and she looks really mean.

The other shots look ok and like she was shaving fun.  Her butt looks good too…

      • Anonymous

and scary. Like her face is really a mask from a skeleton costume.

    • Anonymous

Ralph Lauren jumpsuits??? What is this world coming to?

    • http://twitter.com/ShelfAfterlife Shelf Afterlife

Its nice that she and Michael Kors are comfortable enough with each other that  they can make these sort of comments.  Its also nice that Glamour didn’t air brush out the lines around Heidi’s mouth on the cover with her big ol’ cheeto-eating grin :)

    • Anonymous

Lordy! In some of those shots, I am seeing Farrah Fawcett-Majors! (And yes, I meant from that time period!)

      • Anonymous

The jumpsuit one made me think Kim Alexis.  The jumpsuit, styling, and shot are a definite callback to that late 70s-early 80s blonde model look.

    • Anonymous

“We all have orange hands, though you can’t really tell on Michael, because it blends in with his tan.”  AHAHAHAHAHA!

But that first quote was indeed bitchy, bitchy, bitchy.

    • Beth G

I wish those were the publicity shots for PR…..

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

She looks great.  Oh snap about the cheetos comment, but maybe she’s trying to get him back for the fallopian comment!  Ha!

    • Anonymous

Isn’t it funny that a German girl looks so all-American?

    • Anonymous

of course Tim’s not going to criticize her style. He knows where his paycheck is coming from. Besides, we can see how successful the Duchess has been at commenting on the length of her dresses.

    • Lisa

See, now HERE she looks adorable!  Why couldn’t they have used that for the Project Runway ad?

    • Anonymous

very glib for an interview. Love HK

Seriously trying too hard!  You got kids and you’re older!  Have some self respect!

    • Anonymous

The cover photo looks like a wax figure – they are photoshopping the hell out of people, making them look like non-people. Not her fault, I just hate it! I love the first picture with the hat – really cute. She is a gorgeous woman, why do they have to make her look like she is fake???

    • Anonymous

She looks so fresh an pretty! And she is working every single one of those outfits *coughcoughcantellshedidn’tdressherselfcough*

    • http://profiles.google.com/ballinger.jl Jessica Ballinger

      Hate the wide legged jumpsuit.

    • Anonymous

She looks really cute and fun and I like the interview snippets.  I don’t read the first as bitchy but a fun poke at the whole show.  I LOVED the dig at Ms. Kors orange tan!

    • Anonymous

I don’t believe the folks at Glamour tried on 859 pairs of jeans to find MY best fit.

But I love Heidi’s nail colour.
